The Poodle is, of course, quite famous for its distinctive haircuts, so it can be expected that the Bernedoodle should sport a great haircut as well. The Berner originated in the Swiss Alps and has a thick double coat consisting of a woolly undercoat and an outer coat that is a little longer and shaggy. The Berner is famous for his black, rust, and white coloring. Unfortunately, he sheds a great deal, which requires brushing several times a week. The Poodle actually has a single coat of hair that consists of very dense, curly hair rather than fur that sheds minimally. They are considered hypoallergenic and make great dogs for allergy sufferers, and they come in a wide variety of colors. Grooming the Poodle is more of an ordeal than it is for the Berner, and for many Poodle owners, the easiest option is bringing the dog into a professional groomer or keeping their Poodle closely trimmed. Their coats may be the same rust, black, and white as their Berner parent, or they could be black, black and white, or many other variations. The fur will more than likely be wavy at the very least but, more often than not, has some of the same curls as their Poodle parent. The more curlier their coat, the more likely they will shed less and will be hypoallergenic. There are several haircuts you can opt into for your Bernedoodle, so, without further ado, here are 8 haircuts for you to consider in alphabetical order: 1. This could also be a different version of the Summer Cut, which can be seen below at number 7. This one has the easiest upkeep as your Bernedoodle is essentially shaved down, which will not only keep him cool, but it will prevent dirt and mats from accumulating in his hair. Lamb Cut A post shared by Sully and Tonks sullyandtonks The Lamb Cut allows for a longer length of hair on the body, and the legs are also kept fuzzy and longer. The face, tail, and feet are usually shaved closely but with a fluffy topknot and ears. This cut involves closely shaving the hair down on the body and legs but leaving tufts of hair on the tip of the tail and feet. Poodle-Inspired Cut This Bernedoodle haircut will look exactly as it sounds. Most of us are familiar with the traditional Poodle cut, short fur on the legs and body, and longer hair on the lower parts of the legs, the top of the head, and the tail. The ears, tail, topknot, and legs are always thick and fluffy. This cut may suit some Bernedoodles since they are part Poodle but will only work if they have the traditional Poodle curls. The hair is usually layered along the legs, feet, and sides of the body. The hair on his head is cut rounded and in layers. This cut can be any length you want but is guaranteed to make your Bernedoodle look adorable. Summer Cut The Summer Cut is a different version of the Winter Cut see below but with the hair trimmed shorter over the entire body so your Bernedoodle will stay cooler over the hotter months. It is kept about less than an inch on the body and 1 inch on the legs, but with longer hair on the tail. It looks similar to the Winter Cut but is just shorter overall. Summing up Bernadoodles Haircuts Considerations should be made regarding how much time you have for grooming and how comfortable you would like them to be. It might be fun to experiment to decide which one of these will not only best suit your Bernedoodle, but what he seems to be the most comfortable in. These large, friendly, lovable dogs make an excellent choice of a family pet, especially for homes with allergy sufferers. Bernedoodle Coat Types Bernedoodles have three primary coat types that each lends themselves to different haircuts and styles: 1. This coat is not super curly but wavy instead. These dogs are light shedders that need brushing regularly to remove loose body hairs and keep the coat in good order. These dogs have a fluffy look, but they lack the very curly hair of the other coat types and instead have a loose wave. Straight-coated dogs are light shedders and are generally regarded as low-maintenance, easy-care pups. That said, these dogs do require regular brushing to prevent the hair from matting. Curly Wool Coat The curly coat is most like that of the Poodle parent. Different Colors And Coat Patterns Bernedoodles come in various different colors and coat patterns, depending on which parent the puppy most takes after. Generally, the more unusual coat colors and patterns are more desirable and, therefore, command a higher price. Black and White The black and white Bernedoodle is probably just about the most popular of the Bernedoodle color variants. Black is the dominant base color, and white markings adorn the chest, neck, and face. Occasionally, black and white Bernedoodles have white markings on their paws, too. Brindle coloring develops more as the dog gets older. A brindle coat is basically a mixture of two or three colors and is a genetic feature that puppies are born with. Phantom Color Image Source Phantom Bernedoodles are usually a combination of black and tan colorings. Unfortunately, merle dogs are at risk of serious health problems, including deafness and blindness. For that reason, ethical dog breeders would never cross two merle Bernedoodles. Sable Coat Sable Bernedoodles have a solid base coat color, but every hair has a black tip. The overall look of the sable Bernedoodle depends on how much of the hair is black. Clearing refers to the phenomenon where the coat color begins to fade as a puppy reaches adulthood. Interestingly, a sable dog tends to keep a dark ear color, but the black-tipped hairs grow out. Types Of Bernedoodle Haircut In this section of our guide, we take a look at the various different types of Bernedoodle haircuts that you can choose. Of course, you can have a go at clipping your Bernedoodle at home. Taking the DIY grooming route can save you a fortune in professional grooming fees in the long-run. However, we recommend that you take your pet to the groomer for a professional haircut first. Ask your groomer for haircut tips and check out some of the YouTube tutorials posted by professional grooming salons. A Winter cut is a rather generic term that can be interpreted in different ways by professional grooming salons. Summer Cut One of the most common haircuts for Bernedoodles is the Summer cut. This simple style is perfect for dogs that live in a warm climate or for those that enjoy an active lifestyle. The Summer cut helps to keep your dog cool and makes grooming less onerous. Many owners like to give their dogs a Summer cut at the beginning of the spring when the weather warms up, allowing the fur to grow back throughout the summer so that the dog has a cozy coat when fall and winter arrive. This is another of the common haircuts that owners choose for their dogs during warm weather. If you fancy clipping your dog at home, the Kennel cut is simple to do and lasts for a while. As the name suggests, this style is more commonly associated with Poodles, but it does suit curly-coated Bernedoodles very well. The Poodle cut involves clipping the hair short on the back, underbelly, and back legs. The toes and feet are shaved short, as is the tail. Teddy Bear Cut Image Source The Teddy Bear cut, or trim is a perennial favorite with many Doodle owners and is definitely the style you want to go for if you want your Bernedoodle to look cute. The feet are clipped beveled or round, while the head hair is styled into a rounded, fluffy shape on the top of the head or the whole face, depending on your preference. Lamb Cut Image Source The Lamb haircut is another shorter style that sees the legs left longer, while the body hair is clipped short to around 1 inch long. This style is often teamed with a clean face clip. Generally, the Lamb cut works best with curly-coated Bernedoodles. First, the groomer clips the dog to create a fluffy collar effect, boots, and long tail hairs. The body hair is shaved short so that it looks similar to a Summer cut. The head hair is clipped short, leaving a stripe of hair or Mohawk. Lion Cut Image Source The Lion hairstyle is a cut that is best taken on by a professional groomer with experience in creating this style. You often see the Lion cut used for Poodles, and it is a common sight in the show ring. Short Hair Image Source Short hair is a good option for you if you have an active dog that likes to get down and dirty at the beach or dog park. Finally, short haircuts are much more comfortable for your dog during hot and humid weather. However, a long coat can leave your pet vulnerable to heatstroke and overheating. Long fur is much more prone to matting and takes longer to brush than a shorter coat. Again, wavy coats can take a fair amount of grooming and brushing if you allow them to grow longer. These gorgeous coats can be grown long to create a gorgeous corded look or clipped short for a more practical, everyday hairdo. The curly coat is probably the most high-maintenance coat of all. Those delightful curls are very prone to tangling and knotting, so you must make sure you have enough time every day to brush and comb your Bernedoodle, regardless of what hairstyle you choose for him. This particular tail style suits a Berndoodle with short hair. A long hairstyle would probably not look quite right with this tail cut. This style tends to suit smaller dogs rather than large ones. The clean face trim is very popular with dogs that have inherited the sharper facial shape of the Poodle parent, but it does suit pretty much all the styles of haircut that you can choose. Final Thoughts I hope you enjoyed this guide to all the different styles of Bernedoodle haircuts that you can choose from. However, if you prefer to have a proper haircut for your pet, you might want to go to a reputable salon with experience in clipping Doodles. What haircut did you choose for your Bernedoodle? Did you take the DIY route, or did you stick with the salon? Tell us what you finally decide in the comments box below. With a short Bernedoodle haircut you can go longer without visiting the groomer, therefore saving a fairly large chunk of money over the course of a year. The key to doing this successfully is making sure you are brushing often in between visits so you avoid your Bernedoodle hair matting. Chris Christensen Big G Dog Slicker Brush Even if you decide to groom your Bernedoodle by yourself to save money, choosing a Bernedoodle summer cut instead of keeping their hair long will save you frustration and time. Call me crazy, but I think a nice, short haircut on a Bernedoodle looks just as adorable as a longer teddybear look. This style looks great on any Bernedoodle size. What Are Bernedoodle Summer Cuts? A Bernedoodle summer cut is simply another term for a short haircut. What is a Bernedoodle Kennel Cut? Just like Bernedoodle summer cuts, a Bernedoodle kennel cut is often a term used to describe a generic short haircut. Many dog groomers will interpret this as the same length of hair all over from head to tail. How to Request a Short Bernedoodle Haircut There are lots of terms that can be used to describe how you want your dog to look when talking to a groomer. As the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. If you have a picture of your Bernedoodle with a past haircut you were happy with, use that. As always, be nice to your groomer and take their advice into consideration. Want to Do It Yourself? It might sound intimidating, but there are beginner courses such as this one from Udemy that will walk you step-by-step through the process with video lessons. The instructor of this particular course is a former professional dog groomer and even has a doodle herself that she uses as an example! They vary in length as well as style. Serving Atlanta and the South East for 12 years! The Australian Labradoodle is different from all other labradoodles In the mids, The Australian Guide Dog Association received an inquiry from a blind lady requesting a guide dog that would not cause her allergies to flare. To achieve a hypoallergenic dog they needed to breed their proven Labradors to a dog that was already non-shedding, hence the Standard Poodle. The resulting Labradoodles subsequently have been bred to each other, continuing the multi-generational tradition without ever having to go back to the parent breed of the Labrador or Poodle. Even when the other types of Labradoodles are bred on for generations, the result is not an Australian Labradoodle, as the attributes of the infused breeds were not included in their ancestry. We have also produced many therapy and service dogs in Atlanta and the surrounding areas. Our puppies are birthed in our home and raised in our acre farm in the suburbs of Atlanta. We worked on basic puppy obedience and manners. Tana Cagle 19 September This was my first time getting a puppy by myself and I decided I wanted him to have some training. Chase did a absolute amazing job with Otis with just some basic training! Highly recommend Dominion Dog Training! Lindsey Anielia 8 June I rescued a pit boxer mix and from being in a kennel for so long she was way too hyper, hard headed, and possessive over toys and food when it came to other dogs. I needed desperate help and dominion dog training reached out to me! He has truly turned her around! She listens to all commands and behaves so well! She now plays with her toys with other dogs and will even share food and water with other dogs. I was really struggling and having to consider taking her back because I do live in an apartment and dominion dog training completely turned her around and she did a full ! First off the owners are awesome people! We have a very active and energetic 7 month old lab. He was picked up from our home and trained for 3 days. We were having problems with him jumping on our boys and elderly dog. When he was returned on the third evening, we were given a private lesson, treat bag and leash. Let me just say, he is not perfect but he is a different dog! He listens to the commands he was taught, uses a leash, chewing way less and sleeps in his crate the entire night! We are very pleased with his progress! I had never been to a dog show before. Most of the shows were outdoors here on the East Coast, and on nice days most exhibitors stayed and enjoyed the Groups and Best in Show. There was lots of time to chat with the other exhibitors, learn more about your breed and many other breeds on a lot of those balmy, sunny days. Of course, we sometimes waded through mud puddles and hid from the torrents of rain! There were fewer shows, too. Our phones were always busy after a show weekend, and long-distance rates went down after 7 p. It was an exciting time to start on this journey. So Much Has Changed Thanks to modern innovations i. Discover the online program that more than 57, dog owners have used to rapidly transform their dog into a well-behaved, obedient furry friend. There are many things you'll need to stock up on before bringing your new puppy home. We'll try and list as many as possible to help you plan ahead. Below you will find a list of many of the most commonly used things you will need to make your life with your new GSD puppy as comfortable as possible. Any or all of these puppy supplies will make the transition into his new home as simple as can be and will be well worth the effort to have them on hand BEFORE you need them. Puppy Food and Water Bowls Important things to consider: glass and ceramic puppy bowls can be very pretty but they are also easily breakable; puppies love to chew and plastic bowls are easily chewed up and some dogs may even have an allergic reaction to plastic. Stainless steel is the best puppy supply choice of all for your German Shepherd puppy. A 2-quart bowl is a great size for dry dog food and a 2-quart pail is an excellent size for water for your German Shepherd puppy. Here's one great food bowl to check out. This also helps to keep the dog food fresher for longer and keeps other "critters" out of the dog food. A dog food scoop is a good choice to help you portion control your puppy meals each time and both of these puppy supplies can be found at almost any pet, hardware or larger dog retail department store. Dog Crate puppy supplies A German Shepherd dog crate made of wire or heavy duty molded plastic will definitely make your housetraining process go much easier, and with less incidence, and is a very important GSD puppy supply that each dog owner should own. Dogs are den animals and the crate serves as a safe haven for the GSD puppy. Dogs are also highly social animals who love to spend time with their human families. For this reason it is best to place the crate in a area near where family members spend a lot of time. Wire and molded plastic dog crates are both very acceptable to use with your new German Shepherd puppy. Wire Crates are lighter to transport and ventilate much easier while the Plastic Kennels are usually sturdier, safer and more comforting to your dog. Some owners get one of each for their GSD puppy and for different uses. Usually dogs will not eliminate in their bedding area. It is best to keep the crate area where the GSD puppy actually sleeps large enough for the GSD puppy to move about and to turn around in, but not so large that it can sleep in one area and "relieve itself" in another part of the crate. You can easily buy dividers to help separate the crate area into smaller areas while your German Shepherd puppy is growing so that you can purchase one crate large enough to accommodate your puppy once it is an adult. Never crate a German Shepherd puppy for more than 2 or 3 hours except at night when it is sleeping. Your new GSD puppy needs lots of opportunities to exercise it's body and mind and overuse of the crate can easily lead to terrible behavior problems for bored or lonely German Shepherd puppies and dogs. If you get a wooden gate, watch your GSD puppy carefully to make sure that it doesn't chew it. Remember, with time the German Shepherd will grow large enough to easily jump over a regular baby gate once it is an adult. This is exactly where all that early training comes in. Collars as puppy supplies can easily be lifesavers! In an emergency you can easily grasp the collar and restrain him as necessary. The most important thing about the collar however is that it carries that very important ID tag, another important puppy supply. In case the dog is lost or stolen, many times this is the first thing someone who finds a stray dog will look for. It is also what helps many dogs get returned to their correct owner. Make sure that the information on the puppy ID tag is current and up to date. There are many different types of collars on the market. Buckle types are one choice, however, I prefer the quick release collars with the plastic clips. There have been a few instances where my GSD's have gotten caught up together while playing and these types of collars have been truly lifesaving. One press of the clip and the puppy collar is off. That would not have been the case if the dogs had been wearing buckle type or some other style of dog collar. I do not suggest ever leaving a choke collar on a dog or puppy full time. Neck injury or worse could easily happen if the German Shepherd were to get caught up in something. If put on incorrectly, and many people do, strangulation could easily occur to your GSD puppy. Here is an example of the quick release collars with the plastic clips that I mentioned earlier that are excellent dog collar choices. GSD Puppy Bedding Fabric bedding that keeps it's shape and is easy to vaccum is a great choice of bedding puppy supplies. Bedding that has a liner that can be taken off is another great plus so that you can wash it whenever necessary and put it back on later. Puppy Doggie Door Supplies If you have the great fortune of having a securely fenced yard for your German Shepherd puppy, then a doggy door is an invaluable puppy supply and aid in the puppy house training process. They can be purchased in several sizes large should be fine for the adult GSD and most can also be locked when you do not want your GSD puppy to go outside. German Shepherd Pooper Scooper puppy supplies Several varieties are available of this particular puppy supply and they are indeed a back saver and a nose saver as well when you are picking up after your GSD. However, if you can't get one, plain old plastic grocery bags work just as well and are basically free. Large kitty litter scoops are good choices of puppy supplies also for this particular purpose when you're in a pinch. GSD Puppy Head Halters These "easy lead" halters are an alternative to conventional puppy collars - the thinking behind them being that if you control and lead the head, that the body will follow. These restraint supplies are very similar to what horses have worn for centuries. It is really important that the fit be correct and that this not be worn without human supervision. Different types of brushes used on a GSD may include any or all of the following - pet shedding blade especially helpful while shedding , a slicker brush and a Rubber Curry Brush. Do not choose anything with small removable parts - and once the toys begin tearing apart go ahead and throw them away. Do not choose balls that are small enough to be swallowed by your puppy - it is best to choose balls bigger than your puppy can easily handle to cut down on this problem. Good choices for German shepherd dog toys are Nylabones , rubber bones , squeaky toys, hard rubber toys like Kongs , balls and plush faux wool toys. Given the suggestions for best puppy toy choices, keep in mind your dogs chewing habits. Aggressive chewers need one kind of toy but destructive chewers need something different all together and each of these dogs would require a different kind of toy. Stick type dog chews are not the best idea since they may become lodged in the German Shepherd's puppies throat. Overall, don't buy too many dog toys. It's a good idea to rotate the puppies toy selection to keep the puppy from getting bored, and from tearing them up quite so quickly. Also, this will help you to see what kind of toys your German Shepherd puppy prefers. Puppy Harnesses Some people prefer these puppy supplies, especially for puppies, and they are also quite good for dogs that are more skittish to head halters or traditional dog collars. Keep in mind that while these puppy supplies are actually quite safe that they do offer much less control than other types of dog collar restraints. Every GSD owner should have several 4 -6 foot leashes, preferably made of leather , but nylon or cotton types work also - they just don't last as long as the leather. All materials have their good and bad points and in many cases it simply comes down to an issue of supply preference as well a economic issue. Other choices are long training leads and show type dog leashes. The German Shepherd puppy will probably fuss with it at first but should soon get used to it. Keep an eye on the puppy while the leash is attached to make sure that it doesn't get hung up on something else. Also make sure that the GSD puppy doesn't chew it up while wearing it. When you do finally grab hold of the end of the dog leash, follow where the German Shepherd puppy goes while holding the end of the leash. After a bit you can take the lead and have the puppy follow you. Call the GSD puppy to you and reward him generously when he comes to you on lead. After a bit of training and practice the German Shepherd puppy should follow you easily. Don't struggle with the puppy at this point and if he resists lure him to you with a cookie or a treat of some sort. You do not want to get into a tug of war and you do not want to give in to the GSD puppy either. Keep luring the puppy to you with a treat and he'll eventually learn that it is good to do what he is asked to do and the GSD puppy will be rewarded for doing as asked. Here is one great leather leash to check into investing in. Chewing is also a very important factor in helping their incoming adult teeth settle properly. As the owner it is your job to help direct your new GSD puppy as to what things are healthy to chew on and which ones are not. Anti chew spray is just one of the helpful puppy supplies to help control destructive chewing by applying a very bad tasting spray on the object to discourage the dog from chewing on it. It is best to restrain your GSD while traveling to protect both your dog, your passengers and you. This is one of many important puppy supplies you will need for your new puppy. These raised feeder stations grow with your puppy and keep food and water raised above the floor. With leg extensions, this feeder can adjust as your puppy grows, making this an economical solution, too. Puppies can really eat fast, and this often ends up in tummy aches and sometimes even vomiting. Teach your puppy to slow down with this slow feeder bowl. This item comes with inches of usable length and stands at 28 inches tall. We love that it even folds flat if you need to transport or store it. However, we can give a basic overview of things to discuss with your vet when asking about the best foods for your puppy at each life stage. There are always basic guidelines online, but your vet is the right person to ask for advice to keep your specific puppy in the best health possible. Their products are made without corn, wheat, or soy, and there are no artificial colors or flavors. Their puppy treats contain no corn, wheat, or soy, and are perfectly shaped for puppy mouths. Soft and moist, these puppy treats are great for training, playtime, or just to give your GSD puppy a special treat to say you love her. The ring shape is easy for puppy paws to get a good grip on while they chew and relieve teething pain. They are fun, interactive, and educational objects that keep your puppy entertained and out of trouble. The most important aspect, however, is that toys help you bond with your German Shepherd puppy. They often show signs of separation anxiety early on, especially while crate training. To help alleviate this stress, the Snuggle Puppy plush toy can be introduced right from day one. With a realistic heartbeat and a warm pack, this plush toy gives stressed out pups a soft, comforting, familiar place to rest and relax. The unique tube shape is easy to grasp with teeth or paws, and the squeaker is just loud enough to be fun without being so loud it gets annoying. Here are some of our favorite puppy training aids to get you started on the right paw. JdPet Washable Puppy Pads While most GSD parents want to housetrain their pups to go potty outside, there are some good reasons to potty train a pup to use an indoor bathroom option, too. We like the washable, leak-proof, and waterproof reusable pads for this situation. They are environmentally friendly, keeping disposable pads out of landfills or clogging sewage and septic systems. Get a few of these absorbent, washable pee pads for your GSD puppy and save a lot of money down the line. Solimo Super Absorbent Puppy Pads Washable pee pads might not be a good option for all homes, so disposable wee pads are still a decent choice. These potty-training pads are super absorbent, unscented, and are available in big or small packs, depending on your needs. The artificial grass is easy to clean and the catchall bottom just needs a quick spray with the hose to stay fresh. HoAoOo Pet Training Clicker Training clickers are an excellent way to train pups and older dogs to associate the clicking sound with a reward. This reduces caloric intake later on, as the click becomes the reward instead of a mouthful of treats. These clickers come with a handy wrist strap and are small enough to fit in a pocket, too. Tackle problems head-on with the right cleaning supplies. The pooper scooper. No more bending, stooping, and straining yourself to clean up the yard. This long-handled and strong scoop can pick up even the most impressive lawn apples your pup leaves in his wake. We love the slim design and the fact it hooks right onto the leash. The integrated waste bag section lets you place a whole roll inside. They will break down completely because they have no plastic. There are no dyes or other chemicals either, making these poo scoop bags even cooler. High fives all around, folks. Breeds The link has been copied! Golden Retrievers are one of the most popular dog breeds in the world and for a good reason. They make wonderful family pets due to their friendly personalities, endless loyalty, and high intelligence. However, before bringing one into your home, it is essential to consider the costs associated with owning a Golden Retriever. In this article, we'll explore the question, "How much does a Golden Retriever cost? The overall price of a Golden Retriever can vary widely depending on a number of factors, such as the dog's age, lineage, and location. However, it is crucial to keep in mind that buying a puppy is just the beginning of the expenses associated with owning a Golden Retriever. In addition to the initial price, routine vet visits and vaccinations are necessary to keep your Golden Retriever healthy and prevent illnesses. These costs can add up quickly, especially in the first year of your dog's life when they require more frequent check-ups and vaccines. Your dog will typically require annual check-ups and routine vaccinations throughout their life. You can also choose to microchip your pet for additional security measures. Another ongoing expense associated with owning a Golden Retriever is grooming. While Golden Retrievers are relatively low-maintenance when it comes to grooming compared to some other breeds, they do require regular brushing and occasional baths. So, you will need to set aside adequate funds for this care. A Golden Retriever puppy cost can vary. The overall price will depend on whether you choose to purchase from a breeder or adopt from a rescue organization. However, it is essential to note that some breeders will charge more for puppies that have exceptional bloodlines or rare coat colors. If you choose to adopt a Golden Retriever puppy from a rescue organization, the adoption fee is usually much lower than the purchase price from a breeder. It is important to note that adoption fees will usually cover the cost of veterinary care, food, and shelter for the puppy while in the rescue organization's care. Often if you choose to adopt from a rescue or dog shelter, the pet will come into your family already spayed or neutered and up to date on all vaccinations. Color One of the most significant factors is the color of the puppy. Golden Retrievers typically come in shades of gold, but some may have a slightly darker or lighter coat, which can create variations in their price. For instance, puppies with lighter-colored coats may be more expensive than those with darker coats. Bloodline Puppies with a pedigree from a well-known champion bloodline are often more expensive than those without a proven lineage. This cost difference is because they are likely to have a superior appearance, temperament, and overall health characteristics. Often dogs from such lineage come with documentation and official paperwork to verify their background. A quality breeder who has invested time and resources in breeding and raising quality Golden Retrievers may charge a higher price for their puppies. This reason is that they are more likely to provide you with a healthy and well-socialized puppy. Estimated Size Finally, the estimated size of the puppy can impact the cost. Typically, male Golden Retrievers are larger than females, and puppies from larger litters may be smaller than those from smaller litters. Owing to that, puppies from a smaller litter may be more expensive as they tend to be in higher demand. Overall, it is essential to consider all of these factors when looking to purchase a Golden Retriever to ensure that you get the best value for your money. As we've discussed, the cost of purchasing and maintaining a Golden Retriever can quickly add up. However, investing in a GPS-tracking dog collar is one way to protect your investment in your furry friend. A GPS-tracking dog collar can help make sure that your Golden Retriever doesn't wander too far from home or get lost. This feature is especially important if you live in an area with a lot of traffic or wildlife, where your dog could be at risk of injury or getting into dangerous situations. A GPS tracking dog collar can help you quickly locate your dog if they do manage to escape, allowing you to bring them home safely and quickly. No doubt a GPS-tracking dog collar is an additional expense, but it can provide peace of mind and protection for your furry friend, making it a worthwhile investment for any Golden Retriever owner. It can give you the confidence to let your dog explore and play freely while still being able to keep an eye on their location and well-being. Incorporating the Fi GPS Tracking Dog Collar into your Golden Retriever's routine can help ensure their safety and security while enjoying all the joys of owning this beloved breed. The collar has a long battery life and is water-resistant, making it durable enough to withstand daily wear and tear. The collar also offers activity tracking, which can help you monitor your dog's exercise habits and ensure they are getting enough physical activity to stay healthy. Golden Retriever Breed Guide The Golden Retriever is a popular breed known for being friendly and having an affectionate personality. They are intelligent, eager to please, and have a gentle nature, making them excellent family pets. They are typically very patient with children and get along well with other animals, making them an ideal companion for families with kids or other pets. Golden Retrievers are considered to be a medium to large breed in terms of size and weight. Males typically weigh between 65 and 75 pounds and stand in inches between 23 to .Alternatively, females weigh between 55 pounds to 65 pounds and stand in inches between .Golden Retrievers have an average lifespan of 10 to 12 years, but with proper care, they can live up to 14 years. Golden Retrievers are an active breed. They frequently require multiple sessions of daily exercise to stay in peak shape. They enjoy many types of outdoor activities, including swimming, fetch, and hiking. These dogs make great companions for those who enjoy an active lifestyle. However, they can also adopt a more laid-back lifestyle if they don't receive regular exercise. The lifetime care costs of a Golden Retriever will often depend on factors such as their health, age, and lifestyle. Budgeting for these costs and planning accordingly to ensure that your furry friend receives the care they need throughout their lifetime is essential. There are several ways to reduce the cost of owning a Golden Retriever. One option is to adopt a dog from a local animal shelter or rescue organization. Adopting a dog can be significantly less expensive than buying a puppy from a breeder, and it also helps to reduce the number of dogs in shelters. Another way to save money is to consider adopting an older dog instead of a puppy. Older dogs may have already gone through the training process, which can save on the cost of obedience classes and training supplies. They may also be less demanding in terms of exercise and may already be house-trained, which can save on cleaning and flooring expenses. When buying a Golden Retriever puppy, it's crucial to find a breeder who will always prioritize the health and life quality of their dogs. A breeder should be able to provide you with health guarantees, documentation of the puppy's lineage, and proof of vaccinations and other necessary medical treatments. Moreover, it's also a good idea to visit the breeder's facility and meet the puppy's parents, if possible, to get a sense of the breeding environment and the temperament of the puppies. While it may be tempting to choose the cheapest option when buying a Golden Retriever, doing so can lead to additional expenses down the line if the puppy develops health problems that require expensive medical treatment. A reputable breeder may have higher upfront costs but is more likely to produce healthy puppies with fewer genetic health issues. This initial extra cost can ultimately save you money and heartache in the long run. By taking the time to research breeders and consider all options carefully, you can save on the initial cost of owning a Golden Retriever while still providing a loving home for a furry companion. Conclusion: The Cost of Owning a Golden Retriever In conclusion, owning a Golden Retriever can be a fulfilling experience, but it is crucial to consider the upfront and ongoing costs that are commonly associated with owning one. By understanding the factors that impact the price tag of a Golden Retriever and exploring ways to reduce those costs, you can ensure that you are providing the best care for your furry friend without breaking the bank. Lastly, you will want to consider how to protect your newest family member and the investment that comes with them. Basic obedience training and socialization are important for a growing Golden puppy. Emergency Medical Treatment: Medical emergencies cannot always be avoided. Of course, these scenarios typically come at a high cost. This breed is recommended to visit a professional groomer once every 8 to 10 weeks. All these potential expenses are optional, except for emergency medical treatment. You can learn how to avoid these fees entirely as you go, which will save you even more money if you want to be practical. Make sure to talk to the breeder before adopting or buying, as not all breeders have the best intention for their puppies. They also raise funds for canine health research. Their puppies are sold with a contract for neutering or spaying as well as a registration from the American Kennel Club. This means that the quality of their dog is in their best interests. Sun-Golden Kennels — This Golden Retriever breeder operating in Wisconsin raises all of their dogs in their home, so the temperament is fairly balanced. They allow their dogs to run around inside their home and sleep beside their bed to socialize with them. They also involve them in activities such as playing ball, hiking, and swimming with other dogs. The rescue organization also houses other breeds such as the Labrador Retriever and mixed breeds like the Goldendoodle and Labradoodle aside from Golden Retrievers. Their dogs are ready for adoption and have undergone health screenings, rabies vaccinations, heartworm vaccinations, deworming, neutering, and flea and tick treatment. This shelter is open to long-distance adoption in collaboration with other regional rescue groups, as long as the adoptive family meets specific guidelines and conditions. These fees are usually used by rescues for vet bills, registration papers, and other expenses for their dogs. You can also check out our compiled list of reputable Golden Retriever breeders and rescue organizations that house purebred Golden Retrievers to help you with your search for your perfect dog. You may also want to read our ultimate dog adoption guide to ace your adoption application at any of the rescues listed above. Here are some money-saving tips for Golden Retriever owners: Make your own food and treats. Instead of buying store-bought dog food and treats for your Golden, you can learn how to make them yourself. Recommended dog food for the Golden Retriever includes chicken , healthy whole grain meals, approved veggies and fruits, and unseasoned and natural ingredients. Consider home grooming. Grooming a Golden does not have to be a difficult chore. Grooming Golden Retrievers cost a fortune when brought to a professional groomer. Your dog does not require as much grooming as many other breeds. The simple task of brushing and combing their coat will keep shedding under control and the buildup of mats and tangles at bay. Bring them to the vet regularly and keep an eye out for accidents. Because vet bills can be pricey, you must ensure that your Goldie does not suffer from any significant illnesses or injuries. Try training your own dog. Paying for dog trainers may cost you more money. If you do not want to participate in dog shows or contests, it is preferable to train your Golden yourself. This would save you a few bucks while also providing a bonding opportunity for you and your Golden. Choose quality dog supplies. It is recommended that first-time dog owners get high-quality products for their dogs. Choosing a cheaper item may end up costing you more in the long run because you may need to replace it on a regular basis. You can save money where you can, but make sure your Goldie receives the care and attention it deserves. Always remember that a healthy dog is a happy dog. A healthy Golden Retriever is not hard to maintain. With the right mindset, you could keep your pooch in tip-top shape while saving money. Keep in mind that expenses may vary based on the lifestyle you keep for your Golden. By ensuring their good health and condition as well as applying practical money-saving tips, raising a Golden Retriever is not a difficult task. My passion for animals started at a very young age as I grow up on a farm with several horses, cows, cats, chickens, and dogs on our property. Leave a Comment. One or both of this puppy's parents have undergone genetic testing. One or both of this puppy's parents are hip certified. One or both of this puppy's parents is OFA Heart certified. This puppy has had early neurological stimulation exercises. It is also important to understand there are different types of golden retrievers which may affect pricing. For example, if you decide to choose the lowest golden retriever cost option, those puppies almost never have the necessary 3rd-party assurances or veterinarian procedures like dewormings, vaccinations, health-tested parents, or a thorough health checkup. These missing costs and services will be your responsibility, making the total cost ultimately the same. Not to mention the added stress on you these extra expenses and issues create! Adopting vs. Please note that depending on the shelter, you may have to pay additional costs for your Golden certain shots and procedures. Depending on if the golden retriever is a boy or a girl may affect the price as well. Some male vs female golden retriever differences may make you prefer one over the other. This will ultimately save you time and money on your golden retriever price because breeders often pay lower veterinary rates than individuals do. Distemper, for example, is a highly contagious disease that attacks the gastrointestinal, respiratory, and nervous systems of dogs. Unfortunately, there is no cure — just a lot of expenses and stress which really adds to the overall cost of your Golden Retriever puppy. It is wise to ask your vet for guidance on this decision. Talk with your vet about the procedure, when you should get it done, and how much it might cost. Dental Care for Your Golden Retriever Golden Retrievers, like many dogs, can be prone to dental issues such as plaque buildup, gum disease, and tooth decay. These cleanings typically involve scaling, polishing, and potentially extractions if necessary. Some insurance providers offer optional dental coverage as an add-on or as part of more comprehensive plans. If dental coverage is included in the policy, it typically covers a portion of the costs associated with dental cleanings, extractions, and other necessary dental treatments. This typically includes services such as bathing, brushing, trimming, nail clipping, ear cleaning, and sometimes additional services like de-shedding or dematting. Some groomers may offer package deals or discounts for regular appointments or bundled services. This monthly expense may seem like an additional cost, but it can be a worthwhile investment when considering the potential savings on veterinary bills for treatments, surgeries, and medications. By having pet insurance in place, you can ensure that your Golden Retriever receives the necessary care without straining your finances in the event of unexpected health issues. Puppy Training and Socialization Classes Attending puppy training and socialization classes is highly recommended for the comprehensive development of your Golden puppy. These classes provide structured learning environments, social interaction, and essential obedience training. By enrolling your Golden Retriever puppy in these classes, you ensure they receive the necessary foundation for good behavior, social skills, and overall well-being. The cost for food will depend on the size, age, and activity level of your companion. Fortunately, the cheaper brands of dog food can be just as good as the more premium brands as long as they meet the standards of AAFCO and are made with minimal processing. When making your decision, make sure to avoid artificial ingredients and preservatives where you can, since they could cause health problems for your dog.

A F1b Labradoodle has been back-crossed to a poodle in an effort to insure a non-shedding coat. Even though most f1b Labradoodles shed very little or not all, it is impossible to guarantee that any dog even doodles or purebred poodles will not shed at all. Overall, Mini Labradoodles range from having a non- to low-shedding coat. They can have one coat type or the other, or a combination of both of them. They are squishy, tiny, adorable creatures, but they can also be a handful at times. We love them and we want to be the best fur-parents, but the question is, can we keep up till the very end? I have a toy poodle whom I am crazy about. My world revolves around her, and I cannot imagine my life without her. I can talk about my pup all day — really. Since the start of this pandemic, most of us are stuck at home and we want to do something other than binge-watch Netflix or twerk on TikTok. Many people are getting pets mainly because they feel lonely. They feel the need to have some company, so they think that dogs or cats can solve it. Others adopt a pup for these reasons: they want to rescue homeless dogs, they feel inclined to help animals because they can afford it, they want to be entertained, they want something cute in their lives, they want to be like others who have pets at home, they want some content for their Instagram and YouTube. Whatever it may be, I know it is none of my business. What I want to convey is that, taking care of a dog especially a toy poodle is not as easy as .They need diligent hands all the time. If you truly love your pup, I guess you will survive it. Here are 12 Facts About Toy Poodles: 1. If it is not groomed regularly, it will stubbornly grow until it becomes matted and tangled. I use an electric hair shaver for dogs, hair brush, scissors I recommend the safest ones with a round tip , and breathable mouth cover in case your dog becomes a crocodile while your shave the hair. They Are Choosy as in spoiled brats who only eat when they feel like it Poodles are not like other breeds that eat whatever food you put on their bowl. Regardless if you intentionally starve your toy poodle to make it eat the food which is cruel of course , if they do not like the smell or taste, there is no chance that they will eat it. As such, it is vital to find or discover the right diet that works for your pup. Make sure not to give any table foods. If you give a table food like scrambled eggs, steak, or whatever that yummy thing you are eating to a toy poodle who is used to eat dog foods or healthy stuff — then good luck to you. Toy poodles remember the taste of everything you feed them, so if they tasted a pizza for dinner yesterday and you are trying to feed them dog food today, then expect them to not bother sniffing the bowl. Feeding table foods to an originally picky toy poodle will absolutely make life more difficult. Once they tried something so palatable, they will forget about your dry and gritty dog foods. So when you give dried food like jerkies dried meat , you will notice that they are not interested when the food is on the bowl but when you give by hand, they eat very well. When they do eat from their bowl, it is messy because they move the food from the bowl to another location floor, bed, or anywhere else they feel like it. Can you imagine feeding a toy poodle with moist foods? I feel bad for her. I tried different ways to prevent my toy poodle from vomiting, but she is so stubborn when it comes to eating breakfast. Toy poodles are the trickiest creatures to feed especially in the morning. Though not all toy poodles are like this, it is common among mini breeds. At first, I thought that my poodle was special, that she is the only toy poodle who vomits when the stomach is empty — but I was wrong. I felt relieved though knowing that this condition is not unique to my dog. It means that I can find some information from other people who are struggling with the same situation. I found a few interesting ideas and tips from people on YouTube, but sadly their methods were not doable for me and my pup. Though I have tried different ways, it simply did not work for me. You know what? The struggle in caring a toy poodle does not end in feeding them. You have to consider the after-care. Who cleans after they vomit? You clean after them because they stink after throwing up. Just like us, it is important to not brush the teeth right away after vomiting. The stomach acid after throwing up comes in contact with our teeth, and if it is brushed too soon, all the acid are rubbed against the enamel of your teeth which can lead to enamel erosion. Same applies to dogs, so never brush the teeth immediately. If your pup acts normal or not feeling ill after vomiting, you can resume to giving food after hours. Make sure water is accessible. Your pup has to drink water to hydrate. They Like To Hump Dogs in general like humping and mounting, but it does not always mean sexual or inappropriate behavior of dogs. Toy poodles in particular are humpers not even sure if this word exists. I go nuts with my pup because she does it countless times every day on my leg. Though I love her so much, at times I cannot help but feel embarrassed. Humping can mean differently in every dog. It can indicate hyperactivity or overexcitement, dominance, anxiety, or can be caused by an underlying health condition. Whatever the cause of humping and mounting, it is important to consider that for the most part, there is nothing wrong about it, and it should not be strongly discouraged either. It is often healthy and acceptable behavior for dogs like toy poodles. There are ways to minimize this behavior and one of them is through diversion. It is common that dogs hump when they want your attention, bored, or just too happy and energetic about something. Training toy poodles can be really challenging, but it is worth it and not impossible. They Do Not Fetch A Ball When toy poodles play with a ball, do not expect them to bring it back to you like any other dogs do. So when you throw a ball to them, you have to pick it up on your own or best if there is one more person that to play with. The good news is, not all toy poodles are hard-headed or disobedient though. You can train them, but when you train a toy poodle, make sure you stay committed. I failed at this that is why my pup does not play fetch perfectly with me. Perhaps you are a better trainer than me. She does not even look at them. She just snobs all the dogs no matter how handsome or cute they are. My toy poodle is female and turning three this year, and there was no time where she became curious at somebody like her. However, she gets excited and attentive when she sees a cat or bird. I also noticed that kids like toddlers are interesting creatures for her. I saw on YouTube that other toy poodles act the same way. Most of the pet owners are unbothered by it and just go on with their lives. Well, I am kind of doing the same thing. They Hate Toothbrushing How many times do you intend to brush your pups teeth? In my case, I do it twice a day. Like most of us, we brush our teeth three times a day, right? It is pretty much the same in dogs whether small or big. It is ideal to do it times daily to prevent the accumulation of tartar and plaque. It is vital to maintain a proper dental care for your pup or pets in general to help keep them from developing a variety of dental health issues. For toy poodles in particular, they are highly prone to sickness and when their teeth are not taken care of, feeding will likely to be more challenging. Some pet owners tend to take for granted the importance of proper dental care, that is why they end up bringing their pups more often to the vet due to certain illnesses like gum disease, loss of appetite, and organ failure, among other things. Teeth serve as their weapons for chewing, cutting, and tearing their food. They also use it for playing. So with no proper dental care, it can be detrimental to toy poodles. Like for instance, when a dog has so much plaque on its teeth, the accumulation of bacteria from the plaque enter the bloodstream which lead to organ failure heart, liver, kidneys. You can go to YouTube to have some ideas on how to get started. So make sure to be consistent and make it habit to really do the brushing in a manner that your pup will get used to it. They Hate Bathing For many toy poodles, water is awesome when it is on the beach or pool. However, when the purpose of getting in the water is for cleaning their bum and washing the face — then it is off-putting for them. When I bathe my pup, I always make sure to take it slow and easy. I am gentle when I wash my pup because I know she hates it. I only use warm water, not cold running water. When you shower or bathe them with warm water, start from the limbs, then butt. The last part I wet is the face since it is where she despises the most. I found that washing my pup with just plain water no soap or shampoo is really good for her. I noticed that my pup does not scratch and bite her paws or any parts of her body after I refrain from using shampoo. You may not see it because it is not visible, but it is there, and when it is dried, it is when your pup starts scratching and biting all over. Thus, avoid using shampoo or any products with detergents. Simply wash with water and that is it. If it is good for your pup, then stick with it. It has been over a year since I began to seldom wash my toy poodle with soap or shampoo. I only do it when her paws are soaked in mud, very dirty, or when it is really necessary. Essentially, I do not skip massaging her head and body when I bathe her. This makes my pup feels relaxed, and it is an effective strategy in making a dog look forward to bathing. As long as there is a positive experience or reinforcement like getting a massage or treats during or after the bathing — then washing will be easier. This is probably the most difficult part in grooming my pup. I remember bleeding during the first time I groomed my her alone. It was horrifying. I was a beginner fur-mom with no idea of what I signed up for. My pup suddenly turned into a completely different creature: from a tiny and adorable puppy to a scary vampire. Well, fast forward to today where I now know how to do everything without being bitten. Experience is the best teacher indeed. I have been grooming my pup for more than two years. Actually, I have only brought her to a pet salon once — seriously. Imagine how much money I have saved since then. The first few tries were definitely terrifying, but it was worth it. I promise that on your third groom, it will be a piece of cake — not even kidding. You need to have all the necessary tools of course: mouth cover, pet shaver, a pair of decent and safe scissors, pet nail cutter, and comb. Please be careful in using them especially the sharp ones like scissors and nail cutter. You do not want to hurt your pup just because you are practicing. Toy poodles have very sensitive or delicate skin like any other, and when they experience discomfort, it will be impossible to do it again on your own. In cutting the nails, it is crucial to have someone to assist you since it is the most difficult task, and it is very tricky to distinguish which area of the nail to cut. If you make a mistake, your pup will bleed to death. They Are Very Clingy Not all dogs are attached or addicted to their owners but most toy poodles are. Like my pup, she is crazy about me. If I am out of her sight, she panics well not all the time though. Toy poodles are clingy particularly during bedtime. They like skinship so much, so when both of you are on the bed, expect that your pup will sleep close to your body: sleeping side by side, at your feet, their bum facing you, head facing you, sharing with your pillow, or back to back. They are the sweetest too. My pup is the best example for this. There is no day that my pup forgets to lick my face. Her favorite part? My mouth. When dogs lick their humans, it means affection or loyalty. My pup licks my face in a daily basis because I allow it. I allow it because I know it is her way of expressing her love to me. She repeats the behavior because she knows that she can get some love in return. When you refuse, ignore, or scold them — they cry which is too cute. It may seem harmless for most people, but there are rare cases where dogs saliva can also harm a person. Fortunately I am not one of them. Though I have occasionally developed some rashes over the years, but they were just mild and innoxious. You might be reading this article because you are planning to adopt a toy poodle or you are a soon-to-be fur parent. Either way, I am sure you made the right decision. Please know that if you are worried about being a good fur mom, you already are one.

miniature golden retriever puppies for sale near me - Activity Levels While the name of this breed is the French Bulldog, their origins cannot be credited to only France. One of the facts about French Bulldogs is that the idea and reason for the creation of the breed originated in England. This adorable dog breed, which has always been meant to be a companion, started as a miniature version of the English Bulldog. This mini-version accompanied lace workers across the English Channel and into France during the Industrial Revolution. Once the dog breed became prominent in France, the subsequent successful crossbreeding of the English Bulldog, Pug, and Terrier led to the creation of the modern-day Frenchie. The French Bulldog we know today originally came to the United States with groups of wealthy Americans who came across them and fell in love while touring Europe in the late s. The French Bulldog was recognized by the American Kennel Club in and is a member of the non-sporting group. The French Bulldog is an easygoing, affectionate, and playful dog that loves their family and gets along well with children. They also love to make new friends, which means they get along well with other dogs, animals, and people. Intelligent and affectionate, this small dog breed certainly wins over hearts and earns its status as a popular companion dog. Frenchies are not known to bark much, unless you train them into it, but they are naturally alert and make excellent watchdogs. As long as they are well-socialized and trained, they tend to have an open and friendly nature. The Frenchie is a highly adaptable dog that pretty much adapts to any living situation that includes plenty of love and attention. Being a short-snouted, snub-nosed dog breed, they do not tolerate heat very well and are also sensitive to cold. This tends to make them one of the dog breeds that hate winter and you will want to make sure to bundle them up to stay warm while out on cold winter walks. Because Frenchies bond closely with their families and thrive on attention from them, they do not tolerate long periods of time alone. They can also be prone to developing separation anxiety if they are poorly socialized or you do not work with them on this when they are young. Potential health concerns to be aware of in French Bulldogs can include cataracts, cherry eye, and entropion. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances. Heart and joint certifications are recommended for this breed. Standard coat colors for Frenchies are Brindle, Cream, Fawn, and combinations of these. They have a short coat that will shed a little year-round. Nail trims once or twice a month keep nails from growing too long and causing issues. Weekly ear checks, along with careful cleanings as needed, can help prevent ear infections. As a small dog breed, the Frenchie is more prone to developing gum disease. Daily dental care plus cleanings at the vet as needed can help prevent this and other painful dental diseases later in life. You will also need to take care of the wrinkles. Frenchies have hereditary face wrinkles and it is important to keep them clean and dry to prevent skin irritation or possible infection. The French Bulldog is an easygoing companion breed. They can be one of the aziest dog breeds that are couch potatoes. Frenchies will often be energetic when they play and will try to match their activity to yours. So, if you live a more active lifestyle, you need to be careful that your French Bulldog is not overexerting themselves trying to keep up with you. As a Brachycephalic or snub-nosed dog, they cannot cool themselves as easily and are extra sensitive to heat. They can also get winded easily, so be aware of this when playing with your dog or puppy and watch for signs of overexertion. There are safe ways to exercise flat-faced dogs and you can work with your vet on specifics for your Frenchie if needed.
