While intelligence simplifies training in the mini bernedoodle it can work in a negative sense as well. In March of he opted to start a chemo regiment every 3 weeks to hopefully extend his life expectancy. During the next few months him and I created a bucket list of things he wanted to do, which we were able to complete in between his visits to the hospital and chemo treatments. In August his cancer was reassessed to see if the chemo treatments had been working. The results were heartbreaking, the chemo hadn't worked and his body was full of cancer. Within a month of this heart breaking news my fathers health deteriorated, he was back and forth between hospice and the emergency room until he lost his battle to cancer on September 22, .My fathers loss has been extremely difficult, but I am now able to start focusing on my breeding program once again. A wet coat tends to shrink and will not allow you to judge what the final product will look like while you are trimming. Rub the dog with a towel to get most of the moisture out of its coat. Then allow the dog to shake itself off and let the coat air dry. When drying your dog you should also be sure to dry the dog's ears. Goldendoodles tend to get ear infections easily, so drying their ears is important. In order to be precise with your cuts and to deal with the flexibility of the ear, you should find some grooming clippers to use on your dog's ears. The fur on the outside of the ear should be trimmed to a uniform length. Typically this is around 1 inch 2. Trim the fur around the entrance to the ears to a short length. It should be short enough so that the dog's fur doesn't cover the entrance to its ears. Trimming this fur short can help your dog's hearing and will increase air circulation in the ear, which can cut down on the chance of ear infections. In order for your goldendoodle to see, you should keep the fur in front of its eyes trimmed. Use clippers to trim around the eyes. You may also want to thin the fur between the eyes with thinning shears so that the fur in this area does not get very thick. Make sure your dog is calm and not moving before attempting to use clippers around that area of fur so that you don't accidentally injure its eyes. The top of a goldendoodle's muzzle can get thick and puffy, so it should be trimmed down. However, keep the sides of the muzzle longer than the top and bottom. The length of the top and sides of the muzzle are up to you but make sure that the fur on the side of the muzzle is short enough so that it doesn't get in the dog's mouth. Begin trimming the fur on the back of the dog's head with dog grooming clippers. As you move the clippers down the dog's neck, transition the length to the length you want on the rest of the dog's body. The length of fur on the dog's head and body may be the same length or the fur on the head might be slightly longer. This is purely based on personal preference. Using dog clippers with a 1 inch 2. Be sure to thoroughly clip the large areas, such as the back, by going over them several times. With the clipper guard on you should be able to keep the length of the coat uniform as long as the dog stays still. The fur on a goldendoodle's feet is typically cut shorter than the rest of the dog's body. This will allow you to keep its paws cleaner and will give them a tidy look. It's important not to forget to trim the fur between your goldendoodle's toes. This area can be easily overlooked but it is important for your dog's comfort that this fur be removed. If your dog is anxious, you may need to restrain it a bit to successfully trim this fur without hurting the dog. After you have cleaned up the fur on your goldendoodle's feet, you should take the time to trim its nails as well. A dog's nails need to be trimmed regularly, especially if it mostly walks around on a soft surface that doesn't wear its nails down. They are available at all pet supply stores. You will want to hold the dog still while you are trimming its nails. When trimming the nail, don't cut off very much. You want to avoid cutting into the quick, which is the blood vessel inside the nail. When grooming your dog you should also clean the inside of its mouth. Purchase dog toothpaste and a dog toothbrush and use them to brush the dog's teeth. Dog toothpaste is typically available at every pet store and from online retailers. It can take some time to get a dog used to tooth brushing, so don't expect your dog to love this process right away. Be sure to use toothpaste that is made specifically for dogs. This is done by brushing one line of hair away at a time. A dematting rake is better for removing mats in wavier coats. Removing tangles and knots is vital before bathing your dog. Brushing and combing your doodle should take place once to twice a week for a healthy, shiny coat. Bathing your dog before clipping their hair gives a better finish to the haircut. Some owners choose to shower with their doodles, while others use a bathtub. Work with the grain of the coat to prevent tangles or knots. Avoid using harsh ruffling movements, as this will encourage matting. Depending on how skilled you are, you can choose to use grooming scissors or dog clippers. If you have clippers or beard trimmers, turn on the clippers and let your goldendoodle get used to the sound. Bring the clippers close to their fur in different places, their head, legs, feet. Give your doodles dog treats while the blower or clippers are going so your doodle develops a positive association with those sounds. Brushing your goldendoodle puppy at least once a week is very important. The earliest grooming a goldendoodle puppy needs is often an eye, ear and sanitary trim. When their hair starts getting in their eyes, or fuzzing out their ears, and when poop residue starts clinging to their fur near their butt, your doodle is ready for their first light grooming. Amber is a 5 month old F1 Goldendoodle Puppy. With our puppies that often happens at about weeks of age. You can either take them to the groomer to get this done, or, if you are more of a DIYer like we are, you can do this at home. A little trim around the eyes, a light buzz on the inside of the ears with a small trimmer like this one and some scissor clipping around their potty areas might be enough to tide you over until their coat is thick enough for their first official grooming. Just be careful because doodles can be bouncy. We use safety tip grooming scissors that have rounded ends for the areas around their face. A scissor clip will even her coat out a bit. With that nice coat, we want her to be used to regular grooming and the grooming table as well. Our doodles seem to need their first grooming at about 5 months old, but puppies with an especially thick, full coat, may need it sooner. Puppies with thinner coats, may be able to go longer than that. We do most of our own grooming, when possible. We prefer the longer, shaggier look on our goldendoodles, so we prefer to start with scissor clipping when grooming a goldendoodle puppy. Scissor clipping is all Amber needs for now. A grooming table makes all the difference. We use the large Flying Pig Brand. Grooming a goldendoodle puppy takes skill, but Violet 16 has learned her grooming techniques by watching Youtube videos. Amber feels good and looks so much cleaner and neater after getting all that puppy fuzz off. Dogs with long ears can have more ear trouble as the hair grows and gets trapped in their ears. We usually breed our dogs when they are around 18 months old, and we will breed a maximum of 3 times. If you think about that, as soon as a Mama has her first litter you need to have a new puppy in the line up so she is ready for her first breeding as your 3 year old girl is retiring. As a result we quickly had a house full of retired dogs - not a good business plan! We buy the dog, pay for all testing and medical care, but she lives with another family. All of our guardians live very close to us and we give them all the support they need. When the girl is ready to have a litter, she comes to our house to have her pups and stays with us until the puppies are weaned, usually about six weeks. Of course their guardian families come to visit too! After 3 breedings, the dog is spayed and she officially becomes the guardian families forever dog! All of our adult dogs have been health tested and sleep in our master bedroom as distinguished members of our family. This makes us different than large scale breeders as our puppies are truly a part of our family until they become a part of yours. Dogs are not our whole life, but they make our lives whole. We raise our puppies using a combination of Puppy Culture curriculum, BAB curriculum, and lots of love. In addition to early neurological stimulation and socialization, our puppies are also started on potty training and crate training. All of our puppies will be examined by a veterinarian, dewormed, and receive age appropriate vaccinations before pick up. Our poodles all have their tails docked to appropriate length and dew claws removed. We leave our doodles natural. We keep a running waiting list for each breed in order of first contact and approved questionnaire submission. We generally allow puppy selections for individual litters starting at around 4 weeks of age. The final balance is due on or before pick up. Sometimes we start a dog's health testing early or as a younger pup, but we often wait to let the pup mature so that we can watch its temperament develop. Unfortunately, the term "fully health tested" often refers to a dog that has had DNA testing and a wellness exam by a veterinarian. That level of health testing won't cut it here! Some of our dogs are tested more than others at our discretion. We make all of our dogs' health testing certificates available to potential customers as we feel it is impossible to decide which breeder to support without viewing this real documentation. Health certifications are often forged and faked. Please verify health testing certificates from any breeder with the lab or organization that issued them! We have retired many breeding prospects before ever having a litter because their health testing does not meet our standards. Like retiring a breeding prospect due to temperament, this process is challenging and painful for us as breeders. We are attached to these dogs, and at this stage in the process, we have even more time, money, and unconditional love invested in these dogs. Temperament is paramount when purchasing a family pet. Many families can handle minor health issues that could arise over time, as these are often easily diagnosed and treated by a veterinarian. Temperament and behavior go deeper, we feel. Families looking for a household pet need a dog that has a reliable, predictable, safe, and easygoing temperament. So this is our number one priority. We pair dogs together with the highest chance of producing puppies with genetics superior to their parents. This is the only way we can secure a future for our pets as well as the future pets of all of our customers. Many of our breeding dogs are in Guardian Homes, and each pregnancy is a unique experience. Sometimes the female will stay with her Guardian Home during the pregnancy and then come to our home to whelp and raise puppies. And sometimes, we will take the female in to care for her throughout her pregnancy. We like to be close to our litters at all times, so they are born and reared in our spare bedroom right across the hall from our bedroom. First, we can maintain superior cleanliness standards. We don't want our home to smell like puppy poop, and puppies poop a lot! So, waste is cleaned up as soon as it hits the ground. Puppies that are raised in a clean environment are easier to potty train! Second, we can observe the puppies' behavior more effectively inside our home. So many families say to us, "I don't know how you get anything done at home; I would be watching those puppies all day long! It's so much fun! But we also observe on a deeper level and take notes daily to best match puppies to families. We have often considered moving litters to a well-designed kennel because of the simplicity it can bring. However, we can't every bring ourselves to do it. We would end up living inside the kennel to be close to the pups! We love what we do, and even though it can be a huge disturbance to have a litter of puppies inside our home, we wouldn't change it for anything. We take pride in choosing the parents of our poodles wisely to build athletic built, large poodles that are very intelligent. Our poodles should weigh between pounds and are inches tall from the floor to the top of their shoulders. AKC does not recognize the royal as a size. AKC recognizes, toy, miniature and standard. The Royal is a way of letting you know these are the larger size standard poodles. Our puppies will be registered by AKC registration. All of our breeding poodles are health and DNA tested by Embark. You will receive a copy of the health certificate on the parents when you take your puppy home. The price for each puppy varies. We have the price listed on our breeding poodles page. We will offer full breeding rights with approval. There is an extra charge for our breeding rights on our AKC puppies. We do not require a deposit until the puppies are born. However, we do have a waiting list. We will accept deposits before the puppies are born if you would like to be placed in a specific order of picking your puppy. This deposit is refundable if your puppy is not produced in the litter you name is on. If you would like to be on our waiting list, please feel out our application. When the puppies arrive, I will send a message to everyone on our list along with pictures. This will hold your puppy. At this point, this deposit will be nonrefundable. I prefer all deposits to be mailed by check, cashiers check or money order. Cash must be paid for the final payment. I will not accept anything but cash when you receive your puppy. The deposit amount goes towards the price of your puppy as a down payment. The remainder will be due when you receive your puppy. We ask that you pay the remainder due in CASH. We disagree with a lot of breeders on waiting to see the puppies personality. They do have personalities starting very early on. These are poodles. They are one of the smartest breeds out there. They will want to please you. They will take on your personality and be the best fit for you. With the technology we have today, we will let you video chat with your puppy as often as possible. This way your puppy will know your voice and be ready when you take your puppy home. This is why it is important in my opinion for you to make your selection as soon as you can. I also ask that if at all possible, to have a name picked out. I like to call the puppies by their name. This way, they are familiar with it and I feel that it makes the puppies transition to your home easier. We currently own 10 poodles. They all have different personalities, but they all fit with our family. Your poodle will fit with your personality too. She has completely weened them at 6 weeks. I watch the puppies so close every day. At 6 weeks old, they start to bond with me and our family. They are ready to go home and give you lots of puppy love at 6 weeks. Your puppy will be taken care of by our family until it goes home. We will weigh them almost every day and record their weight and any comments that we have. We love and play with the puppies every day. There are 4 poodle loving adults on our farm that love to socialize your puppy. We will send the records that we keep as well as my vet records and vet health check home with you. If we see a problem, we will call our local vet immediately. We will let you know if there are ever any problems. We will be very transparent with you throughout the entire process. They will have their tails docked and dew claws removed. Our vet will make sure they are up to date on their vaccinations. They will also have a vet health check. Our puppies will never see the dirt ground until they have had their vaccinations. They will be on a minimum of receiving wormer at least every 2 weeks. We start bathing your puppy at 4 weeks. They will be used to being bathed, hair dried, and brushed. We do try to have some of our friends, children come play with the puppies to have them ready for children. We will stay in touch with you even after your puppy is home to make sure everything is going well. We do have a couple of people we use to transport pets. We will transport to most places in the United States. I am happy to supply you the names and phone numbers of the transports we use. You are certainly welcome to use anyone of your choice. However, I do want to visit with your transport before you exchange any money. I just want to make sure our puppies are traveling in a safe environment. Transporting any and all puppies will be at the buyers expense. We also ask that if you come to our place to not bring your pets onto our property. We really would love to see them but to keep our farm safe, we ask you to not bring them. We will make two free trips to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to deliver puppies. One trip will be at 6 weeks, the other will be at 8 weeks. As soon as the puppies are born, I will let you know our delivery dates so that you can make arrangements. We can meet other places as well upon approval. We can always come up with a plan for travel. Airport trips are always free. All about our breeding program We strive to do our best to produce large size standard poodles. Poodle colors do change. They usually fade. We do our best to produce large sizes with non-fading colors. However, we will not guarantee the size your puppy will be nor that their color will stay the same.
