He is sweet, silly, snuggly, and ridiculously cute. He is just about everything that is good in a dog. Petey loves to entertain himself and others with his playful attitude and his puppy-like antics. He loves to start each day with a happy morning wiggle dance, and he will perform encores throughout the day. Petey is an affectionate fellow. He only gives occasional kisses, but loves to get close to you; nuzzle you; lean; poke at you with his front feet as boxers do; and when he is feeling silly which is often! He is accustomed to sleeping in bed with a person and snuggling all night. Truthfully, he can get away without it inside the home because he is an easy, good boy to live with! However, he is overly excited out in the world, on walks, in the car, and seeing new people and animals, so he would benefit from some guidance to help him behave calmly in those situations. At this point, meeting people is extremely exciting, but meeting dogs is just too overwhelming for him to handle. Petey had a dramatic entrance into rescue, as he was pulled from the shelter while he was suffering from bloat a medical emergency fatal within hours. Pulling a dog in critical condition, when we know the cost will be tremendous and a good outcome far from guaranteed, requires a leap of faith. The shelter vet bought Petey time by puncturing his stomach to decompress the gas that was building up. Within an hour of first being contacted by the shelter, a flurry of communication had occurred, an NCBR volunteer darted to the shelter, delivered Petey to an emergency vet, and Petey was being prepped for surgery. But we are overjoyed to say that Petey made it through surgery and is now recovering in the hospital. Petey Donor Spotlight: Doreen Murotsune For many of us who give our hearts, time, or dollars to rescue, we are first inspired by the love of a single special dog. Hana belonged to friends of Doreen, but Doreen and her boxer, Benjamin, fell in love with her. Benjamin and Hana were best friends, and Benjamin was always on the lookout for Hana and ready to protect her from any yappy Chihuahua who tried to intimidate her. In addition to being an active Strut Your Mutt teammate for each of the past 5 years, Doreen browses the boxers in our care and sponsors many dogs whose stories warm her heart. She not only sponsors dogs with single or repeat financial gifts, but also inquires about dogs with prescription diet needs and then purchases those diets on an autoship schedule, having the food mailed directly to foster homes. Planned Giving If you have ever loved a dog, you know that — while their lives are short in comparison to ours — the love you share is timeless. By including NorCal Boxer Rescue in your Will or Trust or naming the organization as a beneficiary on certain accounts, you ensure that for years to come, NCBR is able to continue rescuing boxers, providing them the care they need, and uniting them with families who will love them forever. His love and compassion for Boxers was felt by those who had the pleasure of spending time with him. Ken loved sports and spending time with friends. He also collected sports memorabilia and other collectibles like Hot Wheels. He truly loved Milo, featured in the the photo with him. Every time we received a message from him he included a picture of him and Milo. He never gave up hope that some treatment would be the ultimate cure. He worked as long as he could and made his journey to the light in late June. His weakened system just couldn't fight any longer. He will be deeply missed by WCBR, and we wish his family peace with his loss. Thank you to so many who have donated to WCBR in his memory. Ken will forever be in our hearts. We need your help. The number of Boxers being surrendered by families and in the shelters is overwhelming. We continue to receive owner surrenders a week, along with multiple pleas from surrounding shelters for Boxers in need. So many Boxer are coming from families that are no longer able to financially care for them, just don't want them, many are dealing with illness or the Boxer's pet parent has passed away, and many just are moving. Without the funding or foster homes, sadly we have to turn away these surrenders. Please Foster, Fund or be a Forever Home. Vocality level 3 in 5 Disclaimer: While the characteristics mentioned here may frequently represent this breed, dogs are individuals whose personalities and appearances will vary. Please consult the adoption organization for details on a specific pet. Temperament The Boxer is playful, exuberant, inquisitive, attentive, demonstrative, devoted, and outgoing; this dog is a perfect companion for an active family. Boxers can be stubborn, but are sensitive and responsive to commands. They may be assertive toward strange dogs, but are generally good with other family dogs and pets. Upkeep The Boxer needs daily mental and physical exertion. They likes to run, but their exercise needs can also be met with a good jog or long walk on leash. They do not do well in hot weather. Some snore. The coat needs only occasional brushing to remove dead hair. Health Major concerns: boxer cardiomyopathy, SAS, CHD Minor concerns: gastric torsion, hypothyroidism, corneal erosion, colitis Occasionally seen: brain tumors, degenerative myelopathy Suggested tests: thyroid, hip, cardiac Holter monitoring Life span: 8—10 years Note: Sensitive to heat. White boxers may be deaf. The drug acepromazine can cause severe reactions. History The Boxer derives from two central European breeds of dog that no longer exist: the larger Danziger Bullenbeiser and smaller Brabenter Bullenbeiser. Bullenbeiser means bull-biter, and these dogs were used to chase large game through the forest. This required a strong but agile dog with a broad powerful jaw and a recessed nose. In England, the Bulldog was the favored breed for the sport, whereas in Germany large mastiff-type dogs were used. Around the s, German hunters began a concerted effort to create a new breed, crossing their Bullenbeisers with mastiff-type dogs for size, terriers for tenacity, and, finally, Bulldogs. The result was a tough agile dog with a streamlined body and strong grip. By , an entirely new breed, the Boxer, had been established. Although the exact origin of the name Boxer is obscure, it may have been derived from the German Boxl. The Boxer was one of the first breeds to be employed as a police and military dog in Germany. By , the breed had become established as a general utility dog, family pet, and even show dog. The AKC recognized the breed soon after, but only in the s did the breed begin its steady rise to the top of the popularity charts, eventually peaking as the fourth most popular breed in America. Grooming Feeding Premium-quality dry food provides a well-balanced diet for adult dogs and may be mixed with water, broth or canned food. Puppies should be fed a high-quality, brand-name puppy food. Clean, fresh water should be available at all times, and be sure to wash food and water dishes frequently. Feeding by age: Puppies 8 — 12 weeks old need 4 meals a day. Puppies 3 — 6 months old need 3 meals a day. Puppies 6 months — 1 year need 2 meals a day. Dogs 1 year old and beyond — 1 meal a day is usually enough. Exercise Dogs need exercise to burn calories, stimulate their minds, and keep healthy. Exercise also tends to help dogs avoid boredom, which can lead to destructive behaviors. Individual exercise needs vary based on breed or breed mix, sex, age and level of health. If your dog is a 6 to month adolescent, or if she is an active breed or mixed-breed from the sporting, herding, hound or terrier groups, exercise needs will be high. Grooming You can help keep your dog clean and reduce shedding with frequent brushing. Check for fleas and ticks daily during warm weather. Before bathing, comb or cut out all mats from the coat. Carefully rinse all soap out of the coat, or the dirt will stick to soap residue.

Rating: Bernedoodle Breed Review by Yes, many were very loved by us. Agile, intelligent, cuddly, protective. If you train them right. You must be firm. They have a great sense of humor and can be silly. My experience has been that once they grow out of their puppy stage, they really pay attention to you. I would have a dozen if I could. Super smart and deeply loving, cuddle bunnies! I would have if I could. They are easy to train and easy to groom. Mine like the water. Very easy-going. I have two. Very easy to train but is a huge baby. A once stocky and hyepractive knucklehead is now a more trainable and lazy house dog. Very good around kids, and obedient beyond belief after months of training. Makes me want to adopt more of these cute little guys and raise a happy Bernedoodle pack. She was 8 weeks old and her mother was a bernedoodle and father was a berner. I've now had her 6 weeks and she is perfect! She is healthy, playful, very affectionate, always voids when taken out and now have 4 accident free days under our belt. I recommend Sam King as he does not run a puppy mill which I as well as most folks worry about , his prices are reasonable, pups are healthy and were even flea-free- in my 30 years of having dogs, I've never picked up a pup that didn't have fleas. He is a 5 star breeder in my book. His goofy antics have us laughing all the time! He's a lot of energy but very food-motivated and easy to train. He's a great sleeper and was easy to crate train. He does have a sensitive stomach, so no people food. He's the best dog we've ever owned! I live alone and he is the joy of my life. Retired and have all the time to have a dog now! Very smart and loving. Training is essential for any dog and this breed learns quickly. Love this amazing breed. Warning - they are "show stoppers" and will attract much attention, petting from strangers and questions and they will love it! Our neighbors had Bernese mountain dogs and loved them. He was very easy to potty train and crate train. He has such a personality and has been such a calm puppy. This is our first Bernedoodle and certainly not our last!! This breed is awesome. The perfect companion and family breed. Her name was Bella then. Breslin is seven months old now and is doing sow well. She house broke quickly and she is really a member of the family. Loves the car and just really wants to be with us all the time. She is funny and loving and is a very good fit. He was house trained within days, never chewed the furniture or anything that wasn't his toy, and is the most affectionate and social dogs I've ever encountered and I've had dogs my entire life. All though personalities may vary I've known a few others with bernedoodles that have nothing but good things to say. Rating: Bernedoodle Breed Review by Adrian Bond Absolutely stunning breed with great temperament and very intelligent. I had a Bernese mountain dog and a poddle and both of them were super sweet and smart. So keep breeding because families need to get one of these. She is the most amazing puppy! Eli and his family were so kind when we picked her out and all of the puppies were so gorgeous. We have renamed her Sierra - and she is kind and gentle and wonderful! He's been very easy to train. He's smart, goofy and is a wonderful addition to our family. He has his moments of energy, but overall a very calm lazy puppy. He's a tri-color bernedoodle, with a wavy coat. His coloring and coat are beautiful with no shedding. If you are considering one, I highly recommend this breed. Love her!! What a good dog. So smart. Easy to train. Fluffy soft coat. She loves kids and is real gentle with them. Definitely plays differently with the children than with the adults. So glad she knows the difference!! Rating: Bernedoodle Breed Review by William Hoop We currently have 2 Bernedoodles not related to each other they are super loving and loyal. Very fast learners and they love routine to the point if we forget they remind us, we say bedtime and they get on their beds and stay there till morning when we holler good morning. Gentle and playful, not hyper as some people think just because they are half poodle. Smart, calm, affectionate, playful and absolutely the most adorable dog. Everyone loves him and several neighbors want to get a bernedoodle now! Highly recommend this breed. And thus far little to no shedding 5 stars?? So easy to train and good with all others animals, including cats and guinea pigs! Playful and loves the pool and to go every where we go. Intelligent, friendly, playful, goofy dog. Great with my kids, and even helped my younger daughter get over her "dog anxiety". Took to training very well. Needed emergency surgery due to a blockage from a corn cob that he grabbed out of the trash, Ate socks, underwear, trash - grew out of it, but still will eat paper towels, and will "counter surf" for anything edible when your back is turned. Great family dog - likes to "talk" bark to you. Strong chewer. Grew to be about 80 lbs with a head almost 3 ft off the ground. Life Span Did You Know? She loves her yorkie siblings and is so gentle. I have noticed that this breed is smart, easily trainable and is so gentle and lovable to any and all other animals and people. Our pup, at 10 mos. So happy. He's social with other dogs, adults and children. He had a tendency at first of being very 1-person attached to me, his source of food and training , but I worked to get him comfortable in many, many different situations where he was not always at my side only. Lots of energy, so exercise that pupply daily! We are so happy to have him as part of our family. She is an adorable mini bernidoodle, 11 weeks less then 7 lbs. I had been scammed before so Anita was very sweet and patient with me. Zoya, or now Lucy is wonderful! Great disposition, sweet and sooo cute!! Would recommend these breeders for sure! Very trainable. Sweet disposition. Very family oriented. Also loves my Westie. I have to admit I am much more familiar with a purebred Bernese. One of the persons I worked with had two and she would bring them to work all the time and I really wanted one except I had my little dachshund and one dog and one cat is perfect for us. The are great dogs to walk with and they were so lovely. One of the dog came right in and curled up under my desk. They jump around with each other, they play and they are great fun with kids and, with some training, are very obedient. He was potty trained by ringing a bell withing 4 days of us bringing him home!! He is loving, adorable, gets along with my grandchildren, smart and magnetic. I purchased him as a 72 birthday present for myself. He was the only puppy left in the litter and he is all black. I love my Bailey so much I wrote to the breeder and asked if she was going to have another litter. She will let me know. She is thirty months now and she is just the best dog ever. By our sides every minute. Very friendly and outgoing. Great coat, love the fact that he looks like a Bernese, and love his short haired face. Great temperament too, such a smart dog. Great dog, not one bad thing to say about him. We go back and forth from Kansas to California. They do not smell and they are so loveable and affectionant but the best part is they don't even shed and all they want is to love you! Very smart and great company! She has separation anxiety which is a problem. I love her very very much! Anyone would be Lucky to have one! He is very playful and super smart. I have a toy puddle that weighs 5 lbs. Max recently died just before 6 years old. We are devastated. After getting him we found out that breed has a very short life span. How could they mate these dogs for sale? Now I am older now I am interested in looking a smaller kind of Berner The breeds are. So sweet and doesn't need a lot of exercise. He is the sweetest most lovable dog. He just turned 6 years old and in dying of lung cancer. My kids and are are so heart broken. He got this cancer out of the blue he started coughing and clearing his throat one day. I took him to the vet right away and they kept him for nine days testing him. After that I took him home so he could be happy with his family for whatever time he has left. I pray for a miracles. shampoo for pug puppies - Life Span Did You Know? While the name of this breed is the French Bulldog, their origins cannot be credited to only France. One of the facts about French Bulldogs is that the idea and reason for the creation of the breed originated in England. This adorable dog breed, which has always been meant to be a companion, started as a miniature version of the English Bulldog. This mini-version accompanied lace workers across the English Channel and into France during the Industrial Revolution. Once the dog breed became prominent in France, the subsequent successful crossbreeding of the English Bulldog, Pug, and Terrier led to the creation of the modern-day Frenchie. The French Bulldog we know today originally came to the United States with groups of wealthy Americans who came across them and fell in love while touring Europe in the late s. The French Bulldog was recognized by the American Kennel Club in and is a member of the non-sporting group. The French Bulldog is an easygoing, affectionate, and playful dog that loves their family and gets along well with children. They also love to make new friends, which means they get along well with other dogs, animals, and people. Intelligent and affectionate, this small dog breed certainly wins over hearts and earns its status as a popular companion dog. Frenchies are not known to bark much, unless you train them into it, but they are naturally alert and make excellent watchdogs. As long as they are well-socialized and trained, they tend to have an open and friendly nature. The Frenchie is a highly adaptable dog that pretty much adapts to any living situation that includes plenty of love and attention. Being a short-snouted, snub-nosed dog breed, they do not tolerate heat very well and are also sensitive to cold. This tends to make them one of the dog breeds that hate winter and you will want to make sure to bundle them up to stay warm while out on cold winter walks. Because Frenchies bond closely with their families and thrive on attention from them, they do not tolerate long periods of time alone. They can also be prone to developing separation anxiety if they are poorly socialized or you do not work with them on this when they are young. Potential health concerns to be aware of in French Bulldogs can include cataracts, cherry eye, and entropion. Good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you ask about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances. Heart and joint certifications are recommended for this breed. Playful and happy, the French Bulldog is a great fit for a novice dog owner. They are sweet-tempered, eager to please, and eager to train. Occasionally, Frenchies can be stubborn and they do tend to have big personalities. Although this can sometimes be a challenge for first-time dog owners, it can usually be overcome with consistent and patient training. Puppy training classes are always an option and offer plenty of benefits aside from training. Standard coat colors for Frenchies are Brindle, Cream, Fawn, and combinations of these. They have a short coat that will shed a little year-round. Nail trims once or twice a month keep nails from growing too long and causing issues. Weekly ear checks, along with careful cleanings as needed, can help prevent ear infections. As a small dog breed, the Frenchie is more prone to developing gum disease. Daily dental care plus cleanings at the vet as needed can help prevent this and other painful dental diseases later in life. You will also need to take care of the wrinkles. Frenchies have hereditary face wrinkles and it is important to keep them clean and dry to prevent skin irritation or possible infection. The French Bulldog is an easygoing companion breed. They can be one of the laziest dog breeds that are couch potatoes. Frenchies will often be energetic when they play and will try to match their activity to yours. So, if you live a more active lifestyle, you need to be careful that your French Bulldog is not overexerting themselves trying to keep up with you. As a Brachycephalic or snub-nosed dog, they cannot cool themselves as easily and are extra sensitive to heat. They can also get winded easily, so be aware of this when playing with your dog or puppy and watch for signs of overexertion. There are safe ways to exercise flat-faced dogs and you can work with your vet on specifics for your Frenchie if needed. French Bulldogs usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Frenchies generally live for years on average. With this dog breed being so popular, there are plenty of celebrities who have chosen the French Bulldog as their companion, which also means there are plenty of famous Frenchies out there. Also, French Bulldogs cannot swim, at least without a life vest. They can be taught to swim while wearing one, but they should never be left unattended around bodies of water or swimming pools and require constant supervision while in the water. As a lady whose faith is central to her understanding of life I have committed to breeding and nurturing our puppies in a way that honors the Lord. We only breed once a year, which allows us to maintain a high standard of quality, and all our puppies are reared in our home where they are given unconditional love and attention. All puppies are AKC registered, all females are CERF tested, which screens for blindness, and Patella tested, which checks for potential knee cap dislocation. All puppies are declawed shortly after birth, and we guarantee all sales for 1 year. Throughout the past ten years, we have been blessed to develop a line of Bostons that are either in the champion or immediate champion category. During the past ten years, I have come to understand that breeding champion dogs is difficult work but I can say that for me it is truly a labor of love. My sons enjoy spending time with our extended family members and include them in various school and sports activities.
