It is the responsibility of the adopter to provide this care and respective treatment if necessary. The State of Maine requires that all animals being imported into the state be quarantined for the following periods before they can be formally adopted: Animals 6 months and older 48 hours, under 6 months must be quarantined for 5 days. Once the quarantine period has passed, as long as there has been no sign of any issues, then the adoption can proceed. The final paperwork showing transfer of ownership will be sent to the adoptive family generally within two weeks after final adoption. In the case of puppies that need to be neutered or spayed, if the dog requires boosters or there is a time sensitive issue the paperwork will be sent to the adopters beforehand, otherwise it will be sent within two weeks after the procedure has been completed. The records are emailed directly to the address on file. Hard copies are only sent upon request. They are usually sent within two weeks but may take up to that amount of time. If you are adopting an animal that has not yet been altered, you will also be required to bring the animal to the Gray Animal Center at 55 Portland Rd in Gray ME at the date and time you are given by the rescue. Blessed Be the Bullies determines when the animals will be altered according to information provided by our veterinarian. If the adopter does not abide by this policy and does not bring the animal to GAC at the time set, we reserve the right to take possession of the animal with no return of funds paid. Should it be necessary for the rescue to regain possession of the animal, the adopter will be liable for any expenses incurred by these actions, included but not limited to fuel costs, boarding fees, or any civil or legal fees that may be created by such actions. We do not pay for an animal to be microchipped anywhere else. Animals need adequate time to adjust to new living situations, and behaviors can change from day to day. Payment is due in full before the animal will be released to the adopter. Electronic payments must be made at least 24 hours before pick up, cash may be paid the same day. Please read below for details on payment policies, as depending on the situation, different policies may prevail. For dogs that are located in state already, the balance of the adoption fee must be paid before pickup. PIck up is generally scheduled within 24 hours of commitment. The deposit will be applied to the total for the animal adopted. For dogs that are located out of state, the balance of the adoption fee must be paid before pickup, however the adopter may wait until transport has been arranged. We try to have this done asap, but must coordinate with our transport companies, so this timing is out of our control. If the adopter decides not to proceed with the adoption, the deposit is non refundable. Depending on the situation, it may be applied to a different animal. The return of the adoption fee may take up to two weeks to process. It will be returned in the same way in which it was paid. Should the animal be injured in any way, the entire adoption fee is forfeit, and depending on the level of injury the adopter may be liable for vet costs incurred. If within 7 days after the date the adopter takes possession of the animal, if it is decided that the animal is not a good fit, the adopter MUST contact the rescue to make arrangements to surrender their animal. Do NOT drop off an animal unannounced please. The rescue must be given adequate time to find a place for the animal to be transferred to. If the return occurs after 7 days, there will be no refunds issued. Blessed Be the Bullies retains the right to determine whether the adopter will be allowed to transfer funds to another animal. Should the adopter and the rescue feel that the animal needs more time to adjust, the 7-day policy may be extended. This is at the sole discretion of the rescue. The availability of an animal is not guaranteed, we often have many applications for the same animal, and timing can depend on how quickly the application might be approved. We do our best to update our website as soon as animals are adopted, however, the presence of an animal on the website does not guarantee adoption. Please contact the rescue with any questions about a specific animal. Processing time for an application depends on how quickly responses from references are received. We do our best to get quick results but suggest that references are notified to expect contact. No animal will be released to anyone outside of our organization until all references have been checked and the applicants have been approved, and the full adoption fee has been received. We do not offer a payment plan. We accept PayPal or cash. We do not accept checks. Other than cash, all payments must be made in full, and the final contract must be filled out and submitted before the animal will be released to the adopter. Please note, even if an applicant has been approved, this does NOT guarantee adoption. We try our best to communicate clearly when animals will be available for pick-up, but we must work within the schedule of the transport companies and the quarantine periods. This is out of our control. Please keep in mind these animals have already been through so much, the best thing for them is to just be able to go straight home! If it is determined that the decompression policy available at all times on the website was not followed, or that the animal needs veterinary attention there will be NO refund of any kind given. After 7 seven days there will be no refunds given no matter the circumstances. Since we are primarily a bully breed rescue, there is a good chance they may have some of that breed. We supply the information we are given at the time the animals are listed on Facebook, our website and other animal adoption sites, however it should be noted that this information is purely an estimate. This also applies to the ages of most animals. If there are questions, please contact the rescue before applying! At any time during the lifetime of the animal the adopter decides that they cannot keep their pet, they must consult with the rescue before taking the animal to a shelter, giving the animal away or having the animal euthanized. This rescue makes a commitment to every animal they adopt out that they will be safe in an approved situation. We understand that situations arrive that may be out of the adopters control, and we will do our best to help with any issues if we are able to. Silver beige White Apricot - This and red were two of the last colors recorded for this breed; so they are the newest and quite interesting. An apricot can produce a red. Some apricot Poodles are so light that they appear to be cream, however you will notice a red tint to the hair. A true apricot poodle will have some points or black spots on their skin. Liver points are acceptable but not preferred in the U. All blue Poodles are born black and then "clear" lighten as the pup grows. This often happens within the first year but this change can take place as late as 2 years in some cases. For this reason, many blue Poodles are registered as black. The outer coat of a blue poodle is usually as dark as that of a black, but hairs at the root is a mix of colors. The amount of each color depends on the age of the dog. In middle-aged dogs, medium brown predominates. True blue Poodles will have black points and dark brown eyes. Brown - A brown Poodle is a deep, dark color and in no way can be confused with Cafe Au lait which is much lighter. Pure brown Poodles must have liver points and dark amber eyes. Brown is created by the bb gene, as opposed to the BB gene of black Poodles, and therefore will have no black pigment anywhere on the body, including the eyes and nose. Cafe Au lait - This is a shiny light tan color and some confused this with silver beige. It is not uncommon for the pup to be born brown and 'clear' to this color. A Cafe Au lait should have liver points and dark amber eyes. Black - A true black Poodle is a deep ink black. The dog's coat will have zero blue or silver tinting and not have any white or silver guard hairs. The face when shaved will be deep black, as well. A true black will not "clear" or "fade". By 6 weeks, silver beige will appear on the face and paws with a full coat change by the age of 2 years. The dog will have liver points and dark amber eyes. Silvers will have black points and dark brown eyes. This color is a diluted gray, caused by the silver allele V gene. White - Most white Poodles are a pure, snow white. However, some breeders will dub a white tinted with apricot or beige as being white. A bit of black spotting is acceptable on a white, however there should never be any ticking in the white. The ticking gene is a totally separate gene that makes the coat appear dirty. Gray - While a Poodle can be born gray and stay gray, it is also not uncommon for a black Poodle to turn gray at the age of years old. Cream - These Poodles will have black points; you'll know that a Poodle is cream and not Silver Beige or Cafe au Lait if his nose is black. It is the Cch gene which causes an otherwise brown Poodle to be cream. Color Changes When a Poodle puppy is a solid, one must understand that many variables can affect what will become the adult coat. When a pup keeps the same color coat, this is known as "holding". However, many Poodles 'clear'. To clear means when the coat fades or lightens to another color. A lightening of the coat does not necessarily occur evenly all over the coat, rather Poodle color will often hold more on the dog's ears and the thicker guard hairs. Cafe Au lait Poodles are born dark brown and change to cafe around the age of 2 yrs Blue Poodles are born black and change over by the age of 2 years Sliver Poodles are born black and change over by the age of 2 years Apricots are often born a dark shade that lightens by the age of 2 years Many owners can become confused as their Poodle takes on a completely different color as they grow. For example, a blue Poodle puppy could be misinterpreted as black, although a reputable breeder should be able to know the difference. If that puppy has parents with parti in the bloodline, as the coat clears during the first 2 years, other colors may appear and the once black looking puppy who was actually a blue parti becomes a parti with a wide array of possible colors. Fixing a Dull or Yellowing Coat It is common for a Poodle's coat to dull, become brassy or yellow as the dog matures. Sunlight, air pollution and constant bombardment of minuscule debris are at work here, in addition to the natural aging process cycling out a duller color than a Poodle once had. At all times, each hair strand is in 1 of the 3 phases: Growth, rest or release. Therefore, it is a gradual process.Owners may not notice a difference in the richness, depth and shine of the coat until the process has been going on for a while and enough hairs have grown in faded or dulled to make a drastic difference. The key to fixing and maintaining a beautiful color on a Poodle is to use a color enhancing shampoo. There are some great ones manufactured specifically for canines. In addition, while in general one does not want to use a human product on a puppy or dog, as long as the PH balance is correct, it most certainly can be used with excellent results. We are starting her on anxiety medication to keep her comfortable and progressing to being the best dog she deserves to be. She even took a treat from our hand! We love watching her blossom and grow! She is being treated for nasty ear infections. The vet was pretty impressed with her health considering her unknown background. Lady is making progress on learning how to trust humans but she is still a shy girl, we would LOVE to see her in a home so she can decompress even more. When Lady is brave enough to come up for pets, she freezes but eventually leans in to like them.
