However, this time my daughter asked if we could get a smaller dog that could sit in her lap easier , and that she could take with her more easily than she can the larger labs. On the day that I sent her a quick note looking to connect, Deb called me. During that first phone call I asked her with questions about her kennel, her breeding philosophy, and overall questions about Frenchies and how well a puppy would fit in our house. Deb enthusiastically engaged in that discussion with passion, and I knew this was a person who I wanted to work with. I was particularly concerned with breathing issues that these dogs so often has, and Deb was able to answer all of these questions with with ease and details since she has a deep experience in breeding Frenchies, and loves to do it. She very purposefully and knowledgeably sets up her breeding program based on a lot of data, not just a pedigree. She has a fantastic working knowledge of genetics, and tracks her dogs health so well that she can use this data to produce great litters. Her process is impressive. We were able to give Deb our criteria about the kind of dog we were looking for, and what we were not. She immediately spoke about future litters she was planning that would fit our needs. I fully expected to have to wait up at least 6 months for a puppy, but we were able to get a puppy sooner than that. We got Millie, a beautiful Fawn with tons of red accents. She is smaller in size, just as we like, and Deb told us that with her intensity gene, that her coloring was going to be stunning. She was absolutely right. We operate out of the Omaha-Lincoln, Nebraska area. Our focus is to save German Shepherd dogs at risk of being euthanized in shelters or other dire situations. We also help Australian Cattle Dogs and other herding breeds and mixes in need, as much as we are able to. Many are sick or injured. And these adorable, forgotten pups couldn't be more needy or deserving of our compassion and help. You can help too by opening your heart and fostering, adopting or donating. Our Mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and place the dogs we rescue in permanent, loving homes. German Shepherds are highly intelligent, yet sensitive and intuitive dogs. We firmly believe that they respond best to positive reinforcement and a firm but always kind hand. German Shepherds thrive on structure, consistency, and mutual respect. They respond very well to reward-based training treats, praise. Being heavy-handed, rough, or using force or inappropriate training tools is not only unkind, but it can often lead to distrust and can result in behavioral issues. We do not have a shelter facility. The dogs we rescue stay with our volunteer foster families until the time of their adoption. We provide necessary veterinary care, appropriate nutrition, love, training and socialization to ready our dogs for their forever home. Our greatest need is for foster families. Our ability to save a dog's life is most often determined by whether we have an open foster home for that dog to go in. There are many ways that you can help. We always need volunteers to help transport, process applications, and do home visits. Cannot foster or volunteer? Donations are much appreciated! Adoption fees do not begin to cover the foster dogs' expenses, which include dog food, preventative, vetting, boarding, and in many cases high-cost medical bills. Many of the dogs we help, arrive with no prior vetting whatsoever, and are sick or injured, which can be very costly to a small, all-volunteer rescue like ours. We weren't going to operate like everyone else did, because we were not happy with what we were seeing from other breeders. Every time we looked for a reputable, quality breeder in and around Nebraska we were met with challenges we didn't appreciate. Poor customer service, poor breeding quality dogs, poor breeding facility, poor nutrition, poor cleanliness, and high prices. Each time we had one of these experiences, we learned exactly what we didn't want to be here at Krieghund Farm. I would definitely recommend them first to anybody searching for a quality GSD. We got our beautiful Axel boy in March and he has been a great addition to our family. They would send us so many pictures and updates while we were waiting to get him. It was important to me that we got a dog from somewhere that was so caring to them as we would be, and they definitely surpassed my expectations! Murphy became our furbaby in and he has been a great addition to our family. We have another German Shepard who was 7 at the time and the two have been the best buds from day one! She is a puppy at heart, loves to talk to anyone who comes into our home and has mothered puppies other than her own, kittens and guinea pigs. My cream Golden Retriever loves this food. I believe it also helps with the shiny condition of his coat. I fed him on junior labrador kibble until 3 months ago and then moved onto adult kibble. He is an absolute picture of good health and I am always receiving comments on how glossy his coat is. I attribute this to the food he eats and to good care of course. The food was recommended by the vet and by the breeder. We always soak the food in a little water before feeding it to him. My little one has a new lease of life, no more problems and a superb coat. My puppy's poo was liquid when the breeder was feedin him royal canin junior, but since I've changed him over to royal canin retriever junior everything has been fine. He's growing well and is very healthy. His health is very good, no upset tummy with this product. Before using this product he did suffer from an upset tummy. And in saying that he has refused to eat all of them. Some of them he humoured me and gave them a few days before turning his nose up at them, but mostly he just refused to eat them until he was starving. So in shear desperation I decided to give the Royal Canin Pug a go. All of my research suggested it is garbage, but perhaps I really do have an adolescent dog as he ate it like he has never been fed. .I'm conscious that it probably tastes so good because its so bad for him so I've been mixing it with his healthy grain free foods and its encouraging him to eat them too although I have caught him spitting them out when he realised they weren't his Royal Canin. So, according to my research this food isn't good for your dog, and I haven't had him on it long enough to comment, but from where I stand I'd rather he live on Big Macs than starve so for me this is a great food. My 8 mt old golden loves it. It seems to half a lovely rich smell and my tody agrees also. His coat it lovely shiny and soft. Teeth stay really clean and his stool is text book perfect. I had him on orijen large breed but his stool was very wet and smelly so i changed over to this food. Orijen is too rich for my fellow. This bag should last a month and i keep it in an airtight container for total freshness.
