Dex has such a great temperament and Cheryl does a great job at socializing her puppies. We couldn't be more pleased with Dex. We have gotten a lot of compliments on Dex and Remi Kristen We contacted Cheryl through her website, we were not sure we wanted to travel to Tucson but after looking at her pups online we were interested. Cheryl texted me all night long starting at 10pm until am until all 9 pups were born. You might not want to do that but I asked and Cheryl delivered! After Mugsy was born we came out several times for visits. The puppies were all healthy and clean and full of personality. When we picked Mugsy up Cheryl sent us home with a care package with everything we would need to get us through the first week just in case we forgot anything. She thought of everything! New toys, food bowls, collar and leash, first aid kit, basic medical supplies. Because Cheryl socializes her pups so well, Mugsy came home already using the doggie door. Cheryl is warm and caring and she loves her pack. All that we met had great temperaments and were living long healthy lives. Mugsy is part of our family now and we know Rookie would approve. Thanks Cheryl for a great experience. Working with Cheryl was wonderful! From the very beginning she was very open to communication and tons of questions from us. She was patient when we explained we had to wait because we lost our dog in February. We were able to go meet Cheryl and a few of her dogs, just to put a face to the name. Cheryl is always willing to give you advice and always willing to answer questions. I would highly recommended Cheryl and her puppies to anyone. Thank you Cheryl Sincerely, P. Mongo and Brawley are doing great and getting along. I lost my beloved boxer a few years ago and was ready to get another one. I love the breed and how they bond with their families. The previous breeder was no longer breeding, so I decided to try Cheryl because of the reviews. She did not disappoint. She let me and my daughters come down to pick our pup, spent time talking with us and telling us about the parents and their temperaments. Our puppy, is a puppy and full of boxer energy, but she has already bonded with me and comes near if she feels I am upset, she is amazing with my 2 year old. Shannon-Chandler Cheryl is a total joy to work with, and an awesome breeder. It is obvious how much she loves her dogs. They all have great and gentle personalities as well as being physically beautiful. She clearly explains the process to transfer CKC registration and microchip ownership information. She sends your puppy home with a great starter bag that includes a dog pillow, a leash and collar, stuffed toys, treats etc. We would highly recommend Cheryl as a breeder. Our little Bella is now four months old. We take her everywhere and she always draws a crowd of admirers which she graciously soaks in. We are so very blessed because of Cheryl and her beautiful babies. My husband is retired and the house was just too empty without Damien. I hated not being greeted by my fawn colored kidney bean when I would get home from work. So we talked and decided we would get a Boxer from a breeder. We found Cheryl and we feel so fortunate that we did. The first Boxer we got from her is Lil-Bit and she is retired and the sweetest girl ever. She's laid back and very protective of myself and my Husband. Loves to just be with us and go on walks. We also got a brand new pup and his name is Sam. He is almost 9 weeks old and very smart. I had many questions about his shots and was super concerned about the Parvo virus. He already had three shots and was wormed when we brought him home. Cheryl told me to have visitors take off their shoes before they enter my house and wash their hands before touching the pup. I went as far as buying shoe covers! She is always available for questions or to just run something by her. She really loves her dogs. I truly believe that this is her calling, just by the way she is with all of them. You could not find a better person to buy a Boxer from. Cheryl lets you visit whenever you want, unless one of her girls is delivering. She stays home with them the whole time, You also bring home a huge bag of goodies when you bring your pup home. Food, bed, toys, collar and leash and so much more. Every Boxer I ever get will be from Cheryl. So I googled and found Cheryl. I decided to surprise the family for Christmas and Cheryl made this such an easy and fun experience! She was very informative and willing to be on call for any help I needed. Our baby Petunia is healthy, adorable and smart. If we ever decide on another puppy, we will definitely be calling Cheryl again. Julie- Chino Valley Cheryl is not only an amazing breeder but a kind heartened and sweet women that is passionate about her boxers. This is a late review but there is no better time then now to share my experience. I had to put down my old boxer of 15 years back in April and I was distraught. After a couple months I branched out, looking for boxer breeders. I'm so glad I found Cheryl. She responded to my text right away and I was set on the last male puppy in Luna's litter. Cheryl was attentive and sent updated photos of baby Apollo, all the way up until pick up. She was kind enough to meet my boyfriend and I half way, on her way to Phoenix. We can tell that our puppy Aspen was so well taken care of and loved because of how attached to Cheryl she was every time we went and visited her. I would recommend Cheryl to anyone looking for a purebred boxer that is very well taken care of and loved. Cheryl, thank you for our precious new puppy and her amazing going home bag and gifts. We love Aspen so much! Rivers Family It all started back in early December as my wife and I were wanting to get a second boxer as we had to put our Boy down in , we have a female 6 year old boxer named Delpheena Rose. Cheryl contacted me back saying that she has a litter due in late Dec. Well the puppies were born and on we got the best present, we got 1st pick of the pups! We picked the all black male boxer. We were so excited, starting putting names on a list and name after name we just couldn't pick one. We asked if we could come and meet our puppy and Cheryl welcomed us to come and meet our boy. The puppy was 2 weeks old when we went to meet our baby. Love at first sight to say the least, we chose the name "Dexter". I have to say that being able to go and meet the puppy was one of the best things we did. We ended up going to see Dexter twice and then at week 7 and one day we picked Dexter up. We are so happy with how well Cheryl takes care of these babies. I would totally recommend Cheryl to anyone who is looking for one of the best additions to the family. We will be getting a second puppy in the future. Marc and Megan I am so happy I was able to find Cheryl and her pups. I had a horrible experience of losing my brindle baby and best friend of 8 years. We rescued her from the streets and gave her love and I never thought I would lose her. Well, when I found Cheryl, i knew i had to get another puppy. I have been in love with my puppy since we went to pick her up. She is amazing, she has adapted very well and she loves seeing us walk thru the door after a long day of work. I will forever be grateful for Cheryl for giving my new baby girl and myself a new chance. We will definitely be going back to you!! Just got Firulais! I contacted Cheryl months after losing my best friend Winslow, a rescue boxer who had to be put down do to lymphoma. I was sure I wanted another boxer because a home is just not complete without one. I found Cheryl online. Having always done rescues I was nervous, but Cheryl had great info about her and her dogs and all her reviews were glowing. Cheryl responded to my and email right away and asked to put Winslow's picture on the memorial page. She asked if I was ready for another puppy but understood if I wanted to wait. She told me Midnight and Buddy had just had a litter. She sent me photos and I fell in love with Wyatt. Cheryl encouraged us to come see Wyatt right away. She worked hard to coordinate with us and brought Wyatt and even his mom Midnight. It was obvious Cheryl loves and cares for all the dogs she has. Both were happy, healthy and social. We got to see Wyatt every week and even met his dad, Buddy, and his siblings on and off her property. He was always clean, and on schedule for shots, de-wormer etc. Cheryl would text me photos, videos, and updates. Wyatt even got his nub nipped by a litter mate and she made sure he was looked at and cared for. We picked Wyatt up to bring him home and Cheryl literally gave us everything we needed. At 18 weeks Wyatt is an active, healthy, playful, loving puppy who is great with people of all ages and other dogs. Thank you so much Cheryl! As someone who doesn't trust easily and as someone who always had rescues, I can say this was a great experience. I wish all breeders were as responsible and caring as Cheryl. Someday Wyatt may get a sibling and we will be using Cheryl! Thank you Boxer Mom Pups Az! Christina Amazing! We now have a happy, healthy and very special little girl. Cheryl is one of a kind, she takes great care in making us feel apart of the whole experience from birth to take home. The pictures during the first weeks the visits and take home care package. We will never buy from anyone else. Thank you so much for our new baby girl, Zoey! They came home with us Dec 4th. What a wonderful delight they are- healthy happy puppies. Cheryl does a wonderful job with her breeding! If you are in the market for a puppy- Cheryl is definitely the place to go. She loves her Dogs! Not a typical breeder.Yvonne - Tucson Cheryl is not your average breeder. She cares about everyone of her puppies and she makes sure they go to the right homes. We just got not one but two puppies and I couldn't be happier!! We met and picked our first one at 4 days old and fell in love with another one while we had visitation of the one we originally picked!!! When the 7 weeks finally came so we could take our babies home. Cheryl had a bag full of needed items as well as pillows to make the transition easier!! I will definitely keep in touch with how our babies are doing and would love to see new puppies as they are born!! My whole experience was amazing. I recommend Cheryl to everyone. My nephew and daughter both are proud owners of Cheryl 's boxers. I consider her a friend now! I will be in the market again SOON! Shawnee - Tucson Boxer Mom I want to thank you so much for our wonderful puppy Angel we got from you a couple years ago. You were so helpful and when she got lost, you were so helpful in reminding us about the microchip and got her BACK! You have been there anytime we have an issue and referring your vet they are Great! Just recently Angel had 6 puppies and you were on the other end of the phone the whole time, offered to come over if there was a problem. Everything went well, pups all found loving homes. Thanks again for your help. So glad you have this section for us to tell our experiences, I am sure I'm not the only one! April - Tucson Dear Cheryl I want to let everyone know I have purchased several dogs over the years, and have never met a more compassionate person as you. You really want whats best for your pups. We will certainly refer you to anyone interested in purchasing a Boxer puppy. Our pup came with a starter kit. It even had some things in there for me! It was much more than I expected. We brought Honey home and didn't need to go to the store to buy anything. You were very through in selecting what we would need our first night at home with our new puppy. Also, your Memorial page is very thoughtful for those of us that have lost a canine companion. He is such a good puppy and great addition to our other Boxer Lola. The starter kit you sent him home with shows how much you love your dogs and want the best home for them. Thanks again for all the pics and updates you sent me prior to us bringing him home! Sheryl - Scottsdale Cheryl was so amazing to work with and we would do it again in a heartbeat! The initial conversational was great, she took the time to ask us our needs as a family and helped match us to the right pup; Sigourney is exactly that, the perfect boxer girl. Cheryl also sent pictures and updates during the waiting period which was immensely appreciated. Pick up day went smooth and we had a peaceful time chatting with her for a bit. Her goodbye with Sigourney touched our heart, her love for all her dogs and the puppies were palpable. Sigourney's temperament is amazing. She is happy, calm and patient. She is doing great with all three kids and all under 5yrs old! She truly is a little ball of joy. We recommend and will continue to recommend Cheryl to everyone who genuinely wants a happy, healthy boxer paired with the best experience. We look forward to the future, God Bless! My daughter named her Baja. You were wonderful in keeping us up to date with pictures and helpful with our questions. It was such a pleasure to have met you. I will definitely recommend you to other people. It was a wonderful experience and Cheryl is a loving, caring breeder. Our puppy Coco is a beautiful, healthy and a joyous addition to our family. We highly recommend her puppies! As a lifelong boxer owner and lover, I have to say this was my best breeder experience ever. From my initial contact to email to the day I picked Max up, Cheryl was so responsive to questions, sent lots of pictures and updates as Max grew with his siblings. When I first went to meet Max not only could I meet his parents, but a lot of her adult boxers. I knew right away this was a great place. Every dog adults and pups were clean, friendly and happy. Sure enough Max has that same great temperament as his parents. It is hard to find breeders who are truly loving and care so deeply to better this great breed. This is the only breeder I know who actually holds the pups till 9 weeks just to make sure the 2nd round of the 4 puppy shots is done. In addition Max came home with all the info I could ever need, plus a great goody bag with treats, food, food bowl, and some of his favorite toys. Along with a surprise for us! I could have found 50 breeders closer to my home, but will never get another pup anywhere but from here and would recommend them to everyone. I can't thank Cheryl enough for completing our family! Mesa, Az. I want to thank you so much for giving us the most awesomest experience in finding our new family member. Being able to visit with our new pup throughout the weeks was so great, bonding with her and seeing her grow. All of your dogs were so great and after meeting them the first time I knew I made the right choice coming to you. I could tell you take pride in breeding and raising such wonderful dogs. You made this such a pleasant experience. I look forward to keeping in touch and we are so proud to be apart of boxermompupsaz family!! Thank You, Thank You!! Shannon O. Tucson We want to thank you so much for Lego, he is the perfect addition to our family. From the moment we met you till we picked up Lego, you were great! You gave us a lot of advice and answered our questions and concerns. Even now I know I could call and you will be there to help. Thank you so much for the wonderful experience. Stevie H. Tucson On an odd rainy day in February, I met up with Cheryl at the vet's office to meet Valentino, when I saw the puppies I could not decide which one so I adopted them both as love is not for sale. There were only 3 in their litter and Romeo was already reserved. Teddy and Valentino named so due to being born on Valentines Day are the love that we needed in our family. Let me tell you, sometimes they are very mischievous, rambunctious and can be down right stubborn. With that being said, I would not trade them for the world. Valentino is the leader, he has gotten into the sink and stole a defrosting London Broil. How did he get into the sink? Maybe he stood on Teddy's back. I can imagine them doing this, they are THAT intelligent. Well dinner was a little late but I was more concerned about his sensitive stomach. Teddy loves being on my white Italian leather sofa, he loves it so much that he smelled something probably crumbs and tore a hole right into the shoulder of it. I spent a Saturday sewing it up, while arguing with Teddy. He has claimed this sofa as his own. This is the love that I speak of. No matter what they get into, just one look at those sad eyes and I am a big bag of mush. They are the cleanest babies I have ever seen. They love to play in the mud and I let them! They are my babies. They are so smart, I lock them out of the doggie door and they will clean themselves, when finished they knock on the door. They loves kids! They use to jump on them but I have trained them that babies cry. So now they walk up and allow them to pet them while they wag their stumps and drool thank goodness Walmart has an endless supply of baby wipes. They are very territorial, nthis is our fault. We have kept them all to ourselves. We love them so much. Cheryl, the cost that we paid for them is nothing to the joy that they have brought us. The wagging stump waiting for us after a bad day, they love us unconditionally, to hear them "talking back" when one of us tells them to " Go to bed", it is priceless. Thank You Cheryl for doing such a good job with your breeding services. The Reades Tucson We found Boxermompupsaz. Cheryl bent over backwards to give us a few chances to meet our new family member before we brought her home. We had to drive a few hours to get there and were thankful for that. Our care package was a fun "treat" to go through too. Charles's personality?? I can't say enough about her. She is our second dog with our other boy being "not so friendly to other pups BIG dog", Charlie walked in and took his heart along with his toys, but somehow knows how to back off when she needs to. She is smart, loves to please and the most adorable dog we have EVER seen! Apart from out first born boy of course! Thank you Cheryl. We recommend Boxermom to the moon and back! Angela A. Tucson Thank you so much for our beautiful sweet and snuggly little Lily. We are so grateful to have met you and been given the opportunity to adopt her. She is adapting nicely to her new home, but misses her mama, brothers, sisters and of course you! She's got quite the personality. We will keep in touch and share your site with our friends, family and neighbors who are interested in boxer pups. I can't thank you enough for the experience and being so kind and helpful during this whole process. Best of luck to you always. Jill C. Phoenix Follow Us. Register for a Puppy Breed traits and characteristics The Boxer is a large, short-haired dog breed that is well known for its playful and protective personality. They are tremendously loyal to their family members and are famed for being great around children. Boxers have a varied lineage which is believed to include the Great Dane, the Bulldog, and the now extinct Bullenbeisser. The Boxer originated in Germany, where they were bred to be bullbaiting dogs due to their muscular physique. However, later on, they were used to control cattle in slaughterhouses. As an intelligent and highly social dog breed, the boxer needs constant companionship and regular exercise to thrive. That said, their legendary gentleness and clownish personalities have made them popular the world over. Boxers also make great watchdogs because they are curious to the point of being excessively nosy! They will inform you immediately if there's a strange sound or a person approaching your door. These high-energy dogs make great companions for families of all ages, as long as they receive all the attention and stimulation they crave. They have worked as police dogs, guide dogs, and they even served the German army during World War I as messengers and scouts. They are loyal and protective As a result of their working history, Boxers naturally take on the role of your protector and commit to keep their family safe. They are brilliant with children As well as protecting young kids from harm, Boxers are patient and love to gently play and clown around with them. They will keep you fit If you need an excuse to become more active, a Boxer is it! They are goofy These cheerful, playful pups are hilarious during play sessions as they combine jumping and twisting into a funny dance move. They love to cuddle and kiss A Boxer wants to show its affection to its owner regularly, so expect lots of cuddles and kisses from this adorable canine. They are easy to train Because of their strong connection, Boxers are alway eager to engage in training sessions with their owners and learn commands and tricks well. They are adorable! Meet the Boxer dog The Boxer is a medium to large dog, weighing between 50—80 pounds and standing 21 to 25 inches tall. They have very muscular bodies with a strong back and a square head, in perfect proportion to their body. They have short, tight-fitting coats that will be either fawn anywhere from light tan to mahogany or brindle fawn with black stripes. Many will have white flecks on their chest, face, and paws, too. They have many distinctive features on their faces, including a wrinkled forehead and floppy ears that give them a sweet expression. In addition, they have black rimming around the eyes and nose, creating the appearance of a face mask and adding to their adorable appearance. Plus, their round chocolate eyes are to die for, and the muzzle that points upwards oozes cuteness too. Unfortunately, Boxers struggle in extreme temperatures. Their coat doesn't keep them warm in challenging winters, and their short nose makes it difficult to cool themselves down in hot climates. Therefore, they are not outdoor dogs and need to be kept indoors. Like all pedigree dogs, Boxers do have some health predispositions. For example, the breed is prone to cancer and aortic stenosis, a common heart defect. Moreover, you'll also need to look out for Boxer cardiomyopathy. This inherited condition can cause their heart to beat erratically and, if left untreated, can be fatal. However, as long as you buy a Boxer from a reputable breeder on The Pedigree Paws, they should be fully healthy and live for 10 to 12 years. The temperament of a Boxer Boxers are a bundle of joy and are playful, fun, and friendly. In addition, they are incredibly loyal and protective of their owners, which makes them fantastic guard dogs. However, Boxers tend to distrust strangers, so early socialisation is critical with this breed. Even if your Boxer is not super friendly towards strangers, they are not known to be aggressive. However, they can take their role as a bodyguard a little far and sometimes misunderstand whether something is a threat to their owners. Thus, it's essential to train them to listen to your commands early to prevent any unwanted behaviour. Luckily, Boxers excel in obedience and agility training, quickly learning good manners. Boxers love to be involved in family activities, and their favourite pastime is to clown around with their humans. Their high spirits will put a smile on your face no matter how bad your day has been, and their quirky "kidney bean" dance move will never get old. In fact, Boxers make a wide range of unusual but hilarious movements from twists to jumps. Boxers can get bored with routine, and they thrive when their owners keep them on their toys, teaching them new tricks or introducing unknown games. However, this does mean that when left alone for hours, they can become restless and agitated. They do not play independently, so they will release their boredom and frustration by causing mischief. Therefore, they need a home where there is always someone around. Best homes for a Boxer dog Many people choose a Boxer dog to guard their house at night. However, a Boxer is a people-oriented dog that craves affection and wants to be part of the family. Moreover, they are not well-suited to homes with other canines, as dog-to-dog aggression is common with this breed. Boxers thrive with people who lead active lifestyles and involve them in it. Thus, they make a great companion for someone who enjoys running, hiking and camping. However, they need human interaction every day, not just on the weekends. So, if you work full-time and there is no one else home, a Boxer is not ideal. This is why they do well with large families where there is always someone around. It's essential to buy a Boxer puppy from a reputable and experienced breeder who breeds healthy and well-natured dogs. At The Pedigree Paws, we work with top Boxer breeders in Britain and Europe who take the health of their dogs and puppies exceptionally seriously. We are firmly against puppy mills; thus, we only work with moral breeders who raise their puppies in clean and healthy conditions and socialise them well. Therefore, you can have complete confidence that you will not be supporting unethical breeding when you buy a Boxer from The Pedigree Paws. Is a Boxer the right puppy for me? Boxers are not for everyone as they need an owner who has plenty of time for them. However, they thrive with both available and active people, as they have high energy and need lots of walks. So, if you work from home and go for daily walks or runs, a Boxer could be a fab choice. They are also ideal for families as their protective and patient nature means they make excellent friends for young children. What's more, they do best in homes where they are the only dog. Is The Pedigree Paws trustworthy? Unfortunately, due to the continued operation of puppy mills, reputable breeders are not always easy to come by. However, at The Pedigree Paws, we have selected the highest quality and top-rated Boxer breeders in Britain and Europe. To ensure they are reputable and trustworthy, we conduct comprehensive checks before accepting their application. The rising number of excellent testimonials from our previous customers shows our diligence and transparency is paying off. Are Boxer puppies from The Pedigree Paws healthy? Unfortunately, purebred dogs like Boxers are prone to certain health conditions, some of which can be serious. Therefore, it's vital to buy from a reputable breeder who breeds only fully healthy dogs. Because of this, you'll be pleased to hear that our breeders always run DNA tests on their breeding dogs to ensure they have no health conditions that puppies could inherit. Moreover, every Boxer puppy will have a thorough health check and examination with a licensed veterinarian before we allow the breeder to list them. The vet will also vaccinate, deworm, vaccinate and microchip your new baby Boxer. When can I receive my Boxer puppy? The first two to three months of a puppy's life is essential for its development and socialisation. Part of the breeder's job is to ensure your new Boxer is healthy, well-developed and socialised to humans and other animals. Because of this, every puppy from The Pedigree Paws stays with their mother until they are eight to 12 weeks old. This is in your best interest, too, as early-weaned pups often develop behavioural problems. Can I see the parents of my Boxer puppy? Yes, we completely understand how reassuring it can be to see the parents of a pedigree puppy before committing. Therefore, we always allow our customers to video call the breeder to see the puppy and the parents. Witnessing that your new Boxer pup comes from two healthy, friendly and even-tempered dogs will put your mind at ease. Will I receive the pedigree documents of my Boxer? Purebred puppies like Boxers are not cheap, so, naturally, you want proof of its pedigree status. Therefore, you'll be pleased to know that all our Boxer puppies come with official records from an international dog breeding organisation. Do your Boxer puppies come from good breeders? As animal welfare is our top priority, we only work with trustworthy and reputable Boxer breeders. We have a thorough application procedure to filter out dog breeders who don't match our high values or meet our requirements. For example, we only accept a breeder if they prove that they treat their puppies and breeding dogs like human family members instead of money-making products. Therefore, you can trust that your new Boxer will be fully healthy, even-tempered, and friendly around people. Are these Boxer puppies raised in a family home or breeding facility? We only work with dog breeders who raise their puppies in their homes and do not keep them in cages without their mothers. Growing up in a family home dramatically impacts a dog's temperament as the environment is excellent for their socialisation. Thus, it prepares them for an effortless transition to their forever home and new owner. Furthermore, they receive attentive care and stay with their mum until they are fully weaned and ready to leave. As a result, we don't work with puppy mills. These organisations do not deliver the care or socialisation that Boxer puppies need, leading to future behavioural problems. How can I help my Boxer settle into its new home? Bringing a puppy home is an exciting time for both the pup and you. However, as it's such a big change for a young canine, they may feel overwhelmed or scared at first. Therefore, we recommend following a few steps to ensure a successful first introduction. Before your pup arrives, set up their bed, food and water bowls and put down some pee pads. Then, when they arrive, calmly greet them, keep them on their leash and slowly introduce them to their new home, showing them where everything is. Furthermore, make sure their bed is in a quiet and safe place and put a warm hot water bottle under their pillow for extra comfort. Their stories We love happy endings. Thank you very much for all your help Andrew W. I had my first call with Natalia, from The Pedigree Paws and with her help I was able to connect with the breeder, that I knew I could trust. I am very lucky to have now Shima, she is an absolute joy to live with. My fascination for this breed actually began as a child while growing up in Great Britain. The yearly outing with my father was one I looked forward to with much anticipation. Years later I married my husband, Gene. It was always my ambition to one day bring a boxer into our own family, to be raised together with our two young sons. In we ventured out to purchase our first American bred boxer. Both my husband and I consider ourselves very fortunate indeed to have been able to purchase a beautiful, show potential brindle bitch named Chelsea from Glenn and Zona Grupe of Glennroe Boxers. Attending shows together, Zona and I put four owner-handled majors in quick succession on our beautiful Chelsea. As our foundation bitch, she launched Telstar on its way to success. Much more, I might add, than my wildest dreams. Striving to do the very best we possibly can in every aspect of raising, breeding and showing our own dogs has enabled me to enjoy the benefits of knowing our achievements have come from our love and devotion for the Boxer. Showing and breeding has had additional perks. I have had the great fortune of meeting many wonderful people along the way. As a boxer breeder, I also derive a great deal of satisfaction when placing a pet puppy in a companion home, knowing that these buyers benefit not only from our philosophy of breeding a quality, healthy, structurally sound boxer, but also from having the joy and love of owning one. I still enjoy competing as an owner handler, and oddly enough, still feel that same overwhelming sense of accomplishment being on the other end of the leash when I finish the championship on one of my dogs. The feeling is no different than I felt in the beginning, some thirty years ago.

Dogs live with a routine, and they are easy to train by having one. For this reason, make a schedule of the things you need to do regularly. Eventually, your pup will learn the routine events and will make itself adept at them. It will help you prepare for your pet, especially in the first few days of living together. As you allow your pet to adjust, do your best to create a stress-free environment for it. Always supervise it as it familiarizes itself with its new home. Still, it would be best to prepare yourself for loud noises when your pet is asleep. Moderate Training German Shepherds are highly trainable. It simply means they respond well, especially to positive reinforcement. Squeaky Toys Out of all toys, your pet will love the squeaky ones. For this reason, prepare for a lot of loud squeaks every time your pet is active. Thus, in picking your pet, you may want to consider getting it from the best. Tells you any health problems A good breeder will tell you any significant health problems in any of the dogs he or she bred. Asks more questions than you A good breeder would ask for more items from you than you would for him or her. Not in a hurry to send off A good breeder is not in a hurry to send the puppies off and get your money. He or she will even show you other breeders and veterinarians caring for their dogs. Requires expectations on both sides A good breeder will create a contract that offers not only what he or she expects from you. More than that, he or she will also show what you can expect from him or her. Sends puppies properly A good breeder will never send a puppy in a compartment and without any responsible person to go with it. Works only with one or two breeds A good breeder works only with a single or a couple of species. Shows breeding experience A good breeder shows her dogs in recognized confirmation shows. He or she will also join his or her breed in other breed-related performance events. Other states. The average cost of a German shepherd dog in the U. While Alaska state laws do not require dog breeders to give German shepherd puppies vaccines, responsible breeders will vaccinate their dogs. If they refuse to give references from past customers. If your breeder in Alaska chooses to hide information about their dogs, like where they come from or how old they are. If you visit the kennel and the dogs seem extremely skittish or fearful of human contact. If you notice any of these signs, it is best to search for another German shepherd dog breeder if you want to buy a healthy puppy from a responsible breeder. Your new Alaskan German Shepherd should be a happy healthy puppy from a reputable breeder. An honest and reputable breeder will provide you with a complete health history on your new German shepherd puppy. Ask the breeder if their dogs suffer from any of these common diseases: Hip Dysplasia: This genetic disease makes it difficult for the dog to move around normally because their hip joints have been malformed. It may be related to the actual size of their joints or even a genetic defect. Depending on how much hip dysplasia your dog has, they may be more prone to further injuries and arthritis as they age. Elbow Dysplasia: Elbow dysplasia is another genetic disease where the elbow joint becomes deformed making it difficult for dogs to walk normally. The joint will pop out of place easily when the dog moves around which makes it difficult for them to move comfortably. Eye Problems: Dogs may be born with this disease or acquire it later in life when their eyesight gets worse. Most dogs develop cataracts in both eyes, while others might only develop one eye. This will affect their eyesight and cause them to scratch their eye or face more. Once you have located a German shepherd breeder in Alaska, make sure to ask the right questions before settling on one dog breeder. If you find an ethical breeder who breeds healthy Alaskan German shepherds, you are one step closer to becoming the proud owner of a German Shepherd. Your first step should be to make sure you and all members of your family are prepared to love and care for the new puppy. Is everyone on board with getting a brand new member into the family? Are they willing to dedicate time and patience in order to train this new addition? If everyone in your family agrees they are ready for a dog, you will need to make room in your home or backyard for the new puppy. This includes making sure the entire family is prepared with any necessary supplies like food bowls, towels, and brushes. If you have other pets at home, you will also need to make sure your entire household is prepared for the introduction to the new puppy. A dog bed small enough for your puppy to fit comfortably in will teach them that this space is where they are allowed to relax. Introduce Your Puppy to Their New Home Before you introduce your German shepherd puppy to their new home, it is important for them to meet the other members of the household first. You will need to have patience when introducing your puppy to any older dogs or cats in the house because they may not understand this. Potty Training Your New German Shepherd Puppy Potty training a puppy can be a long and arduous task, especially if you have a new puppy that is not fully potty trained. Be prepared for this process to take at least three weeks before your German shepherd will start going to the bathroom outside instead of in the house. Clean up after them immediately — if the smells remain in the house, they may be easily distracted and go potty indoors. Take them out at regular intervals — set a schedule. If your puppy knows they will be taken outside every two hours, they will begin to expect it and hold their bladder longer. Praise them when they do go outside — this helps with their training and makes them feel happier about going in the right spot. Try A Potty Training Bark Collar If you need some extra help throughout your potty training process, you might consider purchasing a bark collar to help get your German shepherd puppy on track. A bark collar works best for puppies who are not yet potty-trained and know when to go outside. These collars can be effective, but they may not handle smaller dogs as well. Because the collar goes off whenever your puppy is barking, they will most likely learn to hold their bark, causing them to be even quieter when going potty indoors. No matter what method you choose for potty training a German shepherd dog, if you are consistent and patient, they will learn how to go outside in the appropriate areas. Handler and dog must work together to have a successful outcome. The pinnacle accomplishment for any dog running in field trials is to earn a Field Champion FC title designation or an Amateur Field Champion AFC designation — or for some, it might be both. Your dog runs, finds them, and retrieves them as quickly as he can while responding to hand signals or whistles from you or your handler. Contestants are judged on various traits they are born with including a strong memory for marks, intelligence, perseverance, and more. Section 7. Master Hunting Test. Dogs shall be tested in a minimum of five hunting situations as follows: multiple land marks, multiple water marks, multiple marks on water and land, a land blind and a water blind at least one that shall be a double blind in any combination. There shall be at least three series. At least one of the series shall include a walk-up. The 3 falls must be presented before a dog is sent to retrieve any mark or blind. During a double set of marks 2 falls Master judges shall include additional elements of testing, i. Train ability must be evaluated more stringently than in Senior Hunting Tests. While distance is not crucial, Master Hunting situations are more severe and difficult than Senior Hunting situations. A dog that displays unwillingness must be scored relatively lower on Marking and Perseverance than in the Senior Hunting Test. A dog that goes to the area of the fall and finds the bird unaided shall be scored appreciably higher than a dog that must be handled to a bird. Master Hunting dogs must exhibit those qualities expected in a truly finished and experienced hunting companion. The five qualifying progeny must earn a combined total of 48 points. Two of the five required progeny MAY have a combination of a six point title and a five point title or two six point titles. Points are not cumulative within a category and only the highest achievement earned in each category is recognized. Additional points may be earned by qualifying progeny. All titles below the five point level will only count towards the OS if earned by already qualified progeny. Should the titles of the five qualifying progeny not total 48 points, then additional points including those titles worth less than five points may be counted for those dogs already recognized as qualifying progeny by the point value of other titles earned. GRCA will not track the accumulation of points, only titles. Breeders VS. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Updated: May 25th, This article contains affiliate links. Read the full disclosure here. So what do a dogs barks mean? There are three different ways in which a dog can vary their bark. They can change the pitch, the frequency and the duration. High pitched barks are usually happy and welcoming, low-pitched barks can show aggression and a warning to stay away. So the higher pitched a bark, the less you need to worry, the lower pitched a bark the more likely a dog is feeling aggressive and threatened. This is a bit of an odd sentence I admit. He has decided to stand his ground and is deciding to continuously say so. Dog 2 is a little nervous and far less confident. One or two middle to high-pitched barks, short and sharp: The dog is saying hello! A medium pitch stuttering bark: This is the bark of a playful dog, asking another to join in. For example they will bark like this when they want you to throw a ball, or for another dog to join in a chase. A very quick, very high, short sharp yelp: This is the sound made for a sharp pain. For instance the sound made by your dog if you accidentally tread on their tail. No long-lasting pain, but short and a surprise. Long sequence of high-pitched, short and quick yelps: A dog continuously yelping in a high-pitched way is likely in continuous pain and quickly needs some help. Go away! Single barks with long pauses between, going on for hours: This is the noise made by a dog who is lonely and is asking for some company. Usually the type of bark a neighbor will complain about from dogs home alone for most of the day. Howling: This can be one of two things. Not signalling sadness or loneliness, just something that a few dogs do and nothing to worry about until the neighbors complain, haha. Whining: Loud, high-pitched whining is the sound of a dog who wants and is asking for something. The louder the whining and the more often it occurs, the more urgent a dog really wants or needs something. Whimpering: Whimpering is the sound of a dog that is really hurt or suffering in some manner. It sounds a little like whining, but quieter, softer, and a dog will likely be lying low, looking sad, cowering and somewhat hiding away. Whereas with whining, they will be upright and alert. Growling then a low-pitched bark: When a dog sounds out a low-pitched, grumbling growl followed by a loud and low-pitched bark, they are annoyed, confident and ready to fight. This will be accompanied by body language such as staring, hair on end, ears pricked, looking as big as possible and weight forward trying to look menacing. Also sounded when a dog is asking their family for help to deal with a situation but are standing their ground in the face of a threat nonetheless. Conclusion This article describes the most likely meaning of the most familiar barks that dogs offer. Truly understanding your dog will come from observation and practice at trying to read their body language and deciphering their vocalizations. But if you do practice and learn to understand them, you can take into account how they feel in any moment and adjust your behavior to suit. This will make you a better owner and your dog will love and respect you so much more when they can truly sense that you understand them and communication is a two-way thing. Further reading. By Tom Massey Jan 25, Known as a friendly and devoted family dog, the Golden Retriever has been one of the most popular breeds for 30 years. These energetic animals come in various golden shades and make excellent pets, working dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, and more. The Golden Retriever is a remarkably intelligent dog and learns quickly when properly trained as a puppy. They are active animals who love to play, seeking attention from their owners to expend physical and mental energy. Most Labrador and Golden Retrievers are not known to engage in excessive barking and any dog owner of a Golden Retriever will tell you that this is not an aggressive animal. This is a genuinely happy-go-lucky dog breed, and if it starts barking without stopping, something is clearly amiss. Some speculate that the lack of excessive barking is because they were bred to help hunters, so barking would scare the prey away. Golden Retrievers are also friendly dogs and are not known to behave aggressively. They will let out several usual dog sounds , including howling, growling, chortling, whimpering, yelping, and fear or alarm dog barks. Sometimes, you will encounter dogs who simply like the sound of their voice and will bark for fun or attention. Then, you can take the appropriate training measures to reduce barking. Why Do Golden Retrievers Bark? A Golden Retriever bark can signify multiple things, but there are a few general feelings your dog may be trying to communicate. And they will start barking when they feel ignored. Repeated barking, which could get louder as time passes, is a sign that your Golden insists you pay attention to it, whether to play, feed, or pet it. They might start barking when you mention dog parks or pick up a toy and start playing with your dog. A Golden Retriever might also indicate that they want to play or visit the dog park by using body language and barking. These fears can range from being scared of thunderstorms and fireworks to acting terrified around the vacuum cleaner. Whether the fear is legitimate or not, your Golden Retriever is bound to release some extra barking when stressed or scared. And, as your puppy grows, you can reduce these stressors in its life. You can also train it to let go of irrational fears—for example, showing your dog that it has nothing to worry about when you run the vacuum. Their frustration can result from several things: their squeaker toy is too loud, they want more water in their bowl, or they want you to play. When they are frustrated, Goldens might repeatedly bark at the object of their frustration. They might also become a bit aggressive or destructive. They love their owners and are eager to please them. So when the time comes for its owners to leave for work, the dog might start experiencing separation anxiety and express it through barking. Addressing separation anxiety is crucial to having a healthy Golden Retriever. Your dog will not only be loud because of its anxiety, but it can also engage in destructive behavior, like chewing your belongings in the house. Training to help it overcome such anxiety from an early age is key to good behavior in the future. This type of barking is also accompanied by different body postures that make your Golden seem more threatening. According to the American Kennel Club, you can use a variety of training methods and strategies to reduce barking and promote good behavior. It should all start with determining why your Golden Retriever barks a lot, identifying any other stressors in its life, and then spending time to correct this behavior through training or working through stressors. There are different ways to train your Golden pup to reduce the different types of barking. Reducing Boredom and Attention Barking Most of your barking problems will be solved by mental and physical stimulation. Spend more time playing with your dog and stimulating it physically or mentally. A tired dog is less likely to have the energy to bark, so whenever you feel like your Golden Retriever is barking a lot, try playing with it. A better way to address playfulness barking is to create a fulfilling play schedule. If you follow a routine of playing with your Golden a few times per day, it will learn that schedule and know when it can expect to have fun. If even after setting a play schedule, your Golden is still barking, you need to increase the frequency of play. Reducing Alarm and Fear Barking If you hear your Golden barking out of fear or alarm, you should go to them and acknowledge the object of their fear. Then, wait until the dog has stopped barking to give it a treat. They need to know you are confident in the situation so they do not feel like they have to handle it. Once the dog understands that these sounds are not a threat, it will have no cause for alarm or fear. If you find it challenging to train your dog, you should look to get your Golden from a reputable breeder who has invested time into socializing and training it. They are trying to get something from you by barking, so if we acknowledge their barking, it shows them they are getting what they want. Reducing Aggressiveness Barking When your Golden is becoming aggressive or territorial, you need to train it to understand that you are the one who takes care of threats. When you hear loud barking with growling and see your dog in a protective stance, immediately step in to reassure it that you will deal with it. Golden Retrievers are particularly smart, and they can learn how to behave the way you want them to without punishment. While you should avoid rewarding them for bad behavior, punishment is not a solution. Spending time with your dog and giving it the attention and stimulation it needs is key to addressing unwanted behavior. Ask yourself the following questions: Is there anything scaring or alarming your Golden Retriever? Have you played enough with your Golden Retriever? Has your Golden Retriever received enough attention and pets? Are you establishing a regular training schedule for your dog? Does your Golden Retriever feel threatened? Conclusion Golden Retrievers are loyal companions, and they are an ideal dog breed for families. And to avoid buying a puppy that could have barking problems, you can get your Golden Retriever from an experienced breeder who has spent time training the dog and teaching them healthy behaviors. We train our purebred puppies so they form healthy habits at a young age. We also feed them the best diet to maximize their well-being. Sometimes a noisy Golden Retriever is trying to get your attention. If you can figure out what she is saying, you will have a better chance to stop the barking. The great news is that barking is not something that Golden Retrievers need to do in order to be happy. In fact, barking is a sign of stress, frustration, anxiety or overexcitement and none of these emotions are particularly good for your dog. Or you! Remember a content, relaxed Golden Retriever does not bark! Usually, people have no idea that they have a problem until the neighbor or even worse the dog control officer pays you a visit. If you want to stop the barking, then you have to figure out what is motivating the behavior. Communication The first reality is that dogs of all breeds bark to some degree as a form of communication. Your Golden Retriever likely has several different kinds of barks and each one communicates a different message. I have explained to my wife that it is unreasonable to expect my dog to never bark—EVER! That would be like expecting your child to never say a word. If you listen closely enough, you will be able to figure out what your dog is saying. If you want to understand the difference, you need to pay attention to the pitch, duration, and frequency of the barking. A high pitched, rapid bark usually indicates a happy dog. On the other hand, if your golden or any other dog is barking with a low pitch, slow bark sprinkled with a feeling of aggression, your pup is feeling threatened in some way. If you understand what your dog is communicating, then you can address the concern. If you remove whatever is threatening your dog, then she will stop barking. So, the first step to stop a Golden Retriever from barking is to understand what she is communicating and why she is barking. Your Golden Retriever is a pack animal and understands that there are leaders and followers. Obedient Golden Retriever are so much easier to live with in the house and outside. So when everyone leaves Monday morning to go to work or school and leaves the dog at home she becomes stressed… and so would you if you lost your pack! They are calling out to you to come back. They just are trying to do their job. Think about it… If you are a parent with a young 3-year-old child, one of your main jobs is to keep that child safe, so you keep an eye on them. All the time. All over the house, you know where they are. They are safe. You are relaxed. If they suddenly walk out of the house and shut the front door behind them locking you in what would you do? Chase after them? Of course… But. And all the other doors and windows are locked. Then what would you do… Phone for help? Shout for help? Stress will cause your dog to bark and other bad behaviors Are you starting to see why your dog is stressed and barking when you leave now? You need to teach your dog not to bark just like you need to teach them other obedience skills. What not to do! You may love chocolates but it is not going to work in this situation. This is still one of the most common attempts to get dogs to stop barking. Toys stuffed with food do not treat the cause of the problem either. Neither do other distractions. I think that the fact that these distractions temporarily stop the barking is the reason that so many people think they work. Like any other attempt to teach your dog a response that is not instinctive, you will need to exercise some patience. You need to give your dog sufficient opportunities to associate being quiet with the command. There are lots of benefits to teaching your dog this command. It gives you a verbal cue that quiets your dog in any given situation. You can stop a Golden Retriever from barking when at home or other familiar situations. On the other hand, this command allows you to stop a Golden Retriever from barking in non-typical situations. Teach the Command Discover what situations make your golden bark and recreate one of those. Sometimes it is a doorbell or another dog walking past. Once you know what gets your dog to sound off, just recreate it. Your Golden should start barking at this point. It does not matter what command you use, just make sure that you use the same command. Keep it consistent. When your dog quiets down, give her the treat. Then repeat the process. Your Golden Retriever will probably test your resolve. Be firm. As you continue the exercise, extend how long you require your dog to be quiet before you give her the treat. When you can delay 10 seconds or so you know that your dog is becoming familiar with the command and what it means. You are on the right track. Once you do this correctly your dog will not see it as their job to protect you. You will be able to come and go as you please and they will be totally relaxed. This is the real solution to having a calm relaxed dog. No tricks here, just an honest understanding. Becoming the pack leader is not complicated. Barking dogs can really annoy you and your neighbors. In this article you will learn how to stop a Golden Retriever from barking. Extra Tips To Help Stop Your Retriever From Barking Here though are additional tips that you can use in conjunction with becoming the pack leader that will help stop your dogs barking. Exercise: Exercise your dog before you leave them — a tired dog is more likely to relax. Letting your dog out in the morning to take a pee is not sufficient. One of the best ways to help your dog burn off extra energy is to take her out to play with her. If your dog barks while you are playing with her make sure you figure out what is eliciting the bark. Find the right space: Try leaving your dog in different areas — some dogs will relax more outside, others inside and some prefer smaller areas such as a washroom. If your dog is uncomfortable in her space, she will likely call out to let you know that they are not comfortable. There are lots of things that can make your dog uncomfortable. Ask yourself if your Golden Retriever has enough space, shade, water, etc… Fed and watered: Always leave water down and make sure that your dog is warm and fed before you leave. A hungry golden is a noisy golden. It is really important to the overall health of your dog that she stay sufficiently hydrated. Pick up the bones: Leave toys around for your dog but not bones. For the most part, toys are a temporary relief. You should only use toys when you are present. Check out this link to see what Amazon is charging for these great toys. Herbal remedies: There are some herbal products for dogs which can help relax them — but again they do not really treat the cause of the issue, they simply help relax them, and are also quite costly. I actually took my dog to work for a couple of weeks while we repaired a part of her kennel. I got her out twice a day for a walk. She loved it and it was great for me. I got out of the office twice and the walk got me energized during the day. Say goodbye 5 minutes before leaving to help them stay relaxed as you go. Comfort jackets: There are also jackets and shirts available that are designed to comfort them — however, they are very expensive and have limited success in my experience. I even know of one dog that actually ate it! I have tried to use the excuse that our dog would not bark at the neighbors while they walk their dog if we had another puppy. It is not likely that a second dog will stop a Golden Retriever from barking. Lady—my Labrador Retriever—is now 6 years old and I feel like it is time to get another puppy so that when Lady is too old for hunting I have another retriever or pointer in its prime ready to hit the field. Unfortunately, the popular idea that getting another dog is going to stop the problem is something I would stay well away from. I was simply using this excuse with my wife. I want her to buy into my attempt to purchase another dog. After all, many dogs who bark all day when the owners leave are the same dogs who lie around the house doing nothing most of the weekend when they are at home! I would suggest if you are really serious about stopping the barking immediately then take a look at Doggy Dans site and become the pack leader. That will be the end of your issue. They do not want more bones, or biscuits shoved into a ball — what they want is a strong pack leader. The sooner you turn things around the sooner your neighbors will be thanking you for it! Be Patient As you work through this natural dog response to stressful situations, you need to be the source of stability. Provide your dog with confidence throughout the training process. Your dog will gain a sense of confidence if you remain consistent with the commands and expectations. You need to remain calm and patience. These two personal behaviors will instill confidence in your dog. When you first introduce your golden retriever to any new skill or behavior, it will take some time. Her initial response may seem like she is resisting, but, in reality, she is just trying to figure things out.

Stahlstown, PA Phone: Website: www. Tabitha breeds AKC Pugs and has puppies available throughout the year. They love their dogs and show commitment to the betterment of the breed in everything they do. But how can you spot reputable breeders when you start searching for a Pug puppy? Here are some tips to help you out. A good breeder will… 1. Issue a health guarantee Make sure that your breeder of choice offers a health guarantee. A reputable Pug breeder will write up a binding health guarantee for all of their puppies. The guarantee protects you against any genetic defects or diseases. It shows that the breeder is confident that their puppies are bred according to best practices. This means if you can no longer look after your pup for some reason, you will be expected to return the puppy to the breeder rather than taking them to a shelter. Provide standard health clearances Your breeder should have full health clearances for both parent Pugs. Good breeders often provide some early health-check clearances for their pups too, although some health clearances simply cannot be carried on such young pups. Issue a written bill of sale Reputable breeders offer written bills of sale to all of their new Pug parents. This bill of sale should be signed and will outline all the roles and responsibilities to be taken on by the buyer and seller as part of the transaction. Vaccinate their puppies All puppies should be up to date on their vaccinations before being homed with new families. Your breeder of choice should be able to provide evidence of these vaccinations. Reputable breeders welcome prospective parents into their homes to see the puppies. Follow age guidelines Puppies should never leave the litter before 8 weeks of age. Any breeder offering pups for adoption before this time is not following best practices. In fact, this could be quite damaging for the puppy developmentally. A reputable breeder will keep their pups at home until eight to twelve weeks so that they can be properly socialized and spend that crucial time with their mother and litter-mates. Answer your questions Last, but not least, a reputable breeder will be knowledgeable. In most cases, they will also want to ask you plenty of questions to ensure that their precious pups are going to good homes. We have a strict selection process that takes a variety of factors into account. That way we can ensure that only the best breeders end up on our lists. This way we know that our chosen breeders offer genetically sound and healthy puppies. Health testing shows a commitment to the health and wellbeing of each Pug. Contact information Any breeder that does not offer up their contact information is a big red flag. A reputable breeder will make it easy for you to get in contact with them by providing telephone numbers, email addresses, and they will usually have a well-established website as well. It shows a commitment to breeding best practices. Event participation Breeders who also compete in doggie events are often some of the best. Because these people tend to be dog lovers par excellence. They live and breathe for their Pugs and are proud to show them off in public. They are also more likely to have a high level of breed knowledge — an excellent sign for a breeder. Breed club membership There are lots of breed clubs out there that breeders can register with. These clubs have rules, regulations, and membership fees. If your breeder is registered with the Pug Dog Club of America, this is a great sign showing commitment to the Pug breed. Recognition awards Lastly, we look out for awards! Institutions like the AKC recognize the efforts and achievements of top breeders. The very best will be awarded the AKC recognition of merit award. During this time we recommend getting everything ready before your new arrival rattles through the front door. Your puppy will need: a crate for sleeping and training during the early days quality puppy-grade food a leash and harness plenty of toys You may also wish to purchase a puppy gate if there are areas of your home that you want to keep your Pug away from. This is all about making your home as safe as possible for your new arrival. Make sure anything that could potentially cause harm to your pup is removed. Clear your schedule Having a Pug puppy is a bit like having a human baby. So make sure to clear your schedule and get all of those errands done ahead of time! Once they arrive… 4. Avoid crowds Hold your excitement. That means no crowds. Try to keep the home environment as stress-free as possible so that your puppy can settle in and start to feel part of the family. Crate training is the first step. Lay down a regular routine from the get to and your Pug will be good as gold in no time.
For the complete list please see our Breeder Listings page. The price of a Boxer puppy varies depending on the breeder and where you are located. Boxer puppies usually go fast because this is such a popular breed of dog, so make sure you act quickly once you find one that interests you. The price of Boxer puppies in Texas might vary because of where you live and the reputation of the breeder. There are certain things you should consider when looking for a breeder like their location, reputation, and costs. The best way to research your breeder is by asking around for recommendations from other pet owners in the area. Word of mouth is often the most effective way to find a good breeder. Make sure you ask about costs and any guarantees or warranties that they offer. Visit Your Texas Boxer Breeder in Person Whether you physically searched for a Boxer puppy in Texas or found a breeder online, once you find one that interests you, the most important thing to do is visit them in person. It will also let you see their facilities first hand which can give you a better idea of what your puppy will be like. If possible, ask if they can let your future pup run around with other young boxers while you wait. This dog-to-dog interaction will help socialize him and make sure he grows up healthy and happy. Questions to Ask Ask for References from Your Boxer Breeder in Texas If you feel comfortable with your boxer breeder in Texas, ask to see references from other people who have purchased their puppies. If they are reluctant to give you any names or contact details of other customers, this might be a sign that there is something fishy going on. If previous customers had any issues with the company or their puppies, you should probably find another breeder. These people could also give you lots of helpful advice about your specific dog and what kind of personality he might have based on his parents and genetics. Meeting past customers will also give you the chance to ask them questions about their experience with your breeder. If they had any problems, this is your chance to find out all about it. Remember, even one bad review should be enough for you to walk away from a breeder. Even if your Texas Boxer Breeder has nothing to hide, they should still have a good veterinarian that they use regularly. The best way for you to find out is to ask them what type of veterinary care their dogs receive and who your puppy will be seeing. The general rule of thumb is that the longer the warranty period, the better the policy will be for you and your pet. The minimum amount of time usually given by breeders is 1 year but reputable breeders like those listed here at PuppySpot offer 2 to 3 years. Some lifetime warranties against certain genetic diseases. First of all, if the prices seem too good to be true…they probably are. Often times they just want your cash without caring about whether or not their breeding practices result in healthy, happy pets which could lead to expensive health problems down the road. Unethical breeders will also try to make you feel like they are doing you a favor by selling you their puppies, but this is just another tactic used to put pressure on the consumer. Finally, if the breeder says that only cash is accepted as payment…move on. Any refusal of credit cards should be an immediate red flag. Most reputable breeders will be honest with you and tell you if there are any issues or history of disease in either the parents or other relatives. The truth is that no one is perfect and every dog has some sort of health concern or another. Reputable breeders will know about these issues before they sell their puppies to you which means they will provide documentation for proof. How to Prepare Your Home for Your Boxer Puppy Before you actually bring your new boxer home, the first thing that you should do is make sure to set up a safe and comfortable area for them. First of all, you will need to find a way to confine your boxer while you are away at work or school. The good news is that there are many different options available for everyone whether they live in an apartment or have acres of land. You also want to make sure that the bathroom has been properly puppy-proofed before your boxer comes home. This will typically involve covering up anything sharp, electrical or poisonous items that could pose a problem for your new pet. Finally, if you have any valuable items on hand such as a TV or laptop, make sure to put them out of reach. In addition, whenever you bring them back inside from playing around in the backyard make sure to immediately put them on a leash so that you can quickly grab them if they need to go to the bathroom. Once again, this will be a lot easier if you have a fenced-in area for outdoor playtime but it can still be accomplished using an electronic fence if necessary. Boxers are incredibly intelligent dogs which means that most of them pick up on things very quickly. In fact, many boxer puppies learn how to properly eliminate outside all on their own within just a few days of being home with you. If they have any accidents inside, never scold them because this will only lead to confusion and mistrust. Instead, always use positive reinforcement by either praising them when they do something good or by giving them a treat whenever they go potty out in the yard. Continue doing this until they understand that going outside is the only acceptable place to have a bowel movement. I love animals and love helping people adopt a pet. Welcome to the Sergeant's Boxers website! Thank you for stopping by! We are Cassie and Luke! First off, Boxers are the absolute best family members imaginable. Luke and I gained our first boxer family member in .From the very beginning, we were hooked! We then gained our newest addition, Diva and boy does her name fit her well! We were overjoyed with our family fur-members and wanted to provide joy to other families. That is when we decided we wanted to breed Boxers and bring love and happiness to other families, just as our Boxers brought love and happiness into ours. Our family continued to grow, as did our happiness and joy! We now have 8 boxers and one spayed boxer mix. All are our fur-kids come first and foremost! Diva and Sergeant had their first litter in .Since then, we have learned so much about the breed and about producing healthy puppies. A lot of thought and research goes into each and every breeding. In the early part of , we started showing. This was such a new experience for us, but we enjoyed it so very much! Bailey was our first girl to show and she had a blast! Her face would light up when trotting around the ring. She obtained her International and National Champion Title that weekend and we were so very proud of her! Remington and Diva were a little hesitant at first, but ended up doing very well by the end of the weekend. By the 4th run, they were so excited to get out there and perform! They ran their hearts out and smiled while doing so. It also helped that daddy was there the second day and waiting at the finish line for them : Captain and Benelli went to their first show in June of .Benelli was just 3 months old and competed in the baby class. She did so very well! She gained great ratings that first day and caught the eyes of everyone there! Captain also did very well! He strutted around the ring and smiled the entire time! It was not hard to see that this was something he enjoyed so very much! We couldn't wait to get them back out there for the next show! In September of , we went to 2 shows! The first show was a UKC show. Captain and Bailey competed and had a blast. Captain obtained his UKC Champion. Bailey obtained all of the points needed and is now only waiting for her competition wins. We cant wait to call her a UKC Champion too! Captain gained his National, International and Honors Ch. At only 3 months old, Dawn made it to Best of Show during this show! It is the best feeling in the world to see the smiles on their faces and their eyes lighting up! They all had a blast! Captain obtained his Honors Bronze Champion Title. Both girls did well. They both won first in each of their classes and Dawn won Reserve Best of Breed in all four shows. We were unable to attend due to puppies being at home, but didnt want the girls to miss out on a great weekend of showing! Dawn got first in class for all three shows. Benelli got first in class all three shows. Benelli also got Reserve Best Female in two show and Best female in one show. For being at a show without mama and dad, the girls did so good! Im so proud of them and a special thanks to Angie for talking the girls! We look forward to the upcoming shows and we are so very excited!! Benelli gained another competition win and many points to add towards obtaining her UKC Champion Title! I have no doubt she will obtain the rest of the needed points and competition win needed to obtain her title soon! The girls did great, even with the judges all wearing masks! We can not wait until the next show!! This was Sergeant's first show and he surprised us all!! We had a blast! Results will be posted in each of their files. Sergeant, Harley, Captain and Dawn participated and did very well! Captain even made it to the Best of Show on Sunday! Dawn and Remi did absolutely wonderful! Harley struggled a bit. She wanted to catch the line instead of the lure! Anyways, they all had a great time and we will certainly be back for more! Harley and Captain got to attend the Norman show! Harley won Reserve Ch x3 shows. Captain and our friend Junior handler Alicia Hood won x1 best Junior class! They both did great! Can't wait until the next show! Remi also came out to the show for her very first time! Dawn and Harley also attended and both did well. Captain, of course, tagged along too! Results will be posted once they are posted on UKC site, as I completely forgot to write down results while at the show! Such an exciting sport. Watching them be so excited to chase the lure is absolutely fun times!! We traveled all of the way there to be a part of this amazing show! We earned a total of 9 titles in both Dock Jumping and Precision Coursing! Harley showed in a couple of shows there, but did not place she was too busy worrying about diving and Captain got to strut around in the TOP 10 Boxer ring! Huge Congratulations to these girls!! Information to come! This means that for every litter, Sergeants Boxers will go down the list and offer puppies to the families in order of deposits received. The family may choose a puppy from the current litter or may pass to wait for a later litter. Even if the family initially expressed the desire for a puppy from a future litter early in the conversation, they will still be asked if they would like to select a puppy when the current litter selections start. Selections start at each litter's 6 weeks of age mark. This allows the families to not only pick from color, but also from personality. Please know that these can change at any time and are only listed for reference. This is non-negotiable. Address: Montgomery, Houston, Texas 4. DS Boxers, Texas. According to the owner, everything started about 20 years ago when she and her son got their first Boxer pet. She has been in love with this dog breed ever since, and she claims that she has the same amount of love for these doggies even today! Although this is more of a hobby breeder, the kennel provides the future pet owner with all documentation and health certificates. However, the owner claims that most doggies are already spoiled because of all the love and cuddling they receive. When it comes to the price, most pups cost differently according to the bloodline, coat color, and registration. The cost of transportation will be added to the overall price you pay for your future pet. If you possess a female Boxer and would like her to have her own puppies, you can use the stud services at this kennel. All you have to do is contact them and make an agreement. Breeder details: Telephone number: Address: Kempner, Texas 5. Black Champion Boxers. With more than 30 years of experience in Boxer breeding, the owners of this kennel, Ron and Debbie, are still loving every aspect of their jobs. They pass their love for Boxers onto their grandchildren as well! After spending time in Arizona, the couple decided to come to Texas and continue their family business, which has been going strong for the last 19 years in Decatur. A acre field is the perfect place to breed these wonderful animals. All puppies from this kennel have been tested for various diseases and conditions, had their dew claws done, and are vaccinated. However, like most Boxers, they do have high energy levels, which is why these dogs are more suitable for homes with bigger back yards. Breeder details:. Exercises Grooming From ancient Germany precisely around the 19th century had the now extinct mastiff breed Bullenbeisser and bulldogs brought in from England. At the time of their arrival, they served as hunting dogs for bears, deer, and other ferocious beasts, it would capture the prey with the help of its awesome teeth and detain it until the hunter arrives. And in the first boxer standard club was launched with a comprehensive document that is still in use today. Shortly after, the breed made its way into other European countries and got into the U. S in the late 19th century with the American Kennel Club taking registration of its first boxer around .During the first world war, boxers played the role of a military dog as a pack-carrier, a guard dog, and an attack dog, later they were taken home by the soldiers and got introduced into the domestic world as a show dog, best companion, and a reliable guard. One with so much life, energetic, curious, attentive, active, smart, sociable and incredible fun with children is the boxer, they are also known to be very patient and highly protective of their family members making them the love and desire of many homes. As active dogs, they need a lot of exercise to keep them mentally fit, apparently having a mind of its own, you will find your boxer entertain itself by digging the ground often, chewing, and licking the mouth to beat boredom. They are also very stubborn in character which makes them a terrible choice for first-timers with dogs, they are generally a bit difficult with adult dogs including dogs of a similar breed but friendly with puppies. They usually do not bark unless there is a genuine reason behind it but they love to growl. If you have occupied home with people around all the time or you want a canine buddy the whole time, then a boxer is just the perfect breed to get. Being a highly active dog, they dread loneliness and they can cope finely in both a house and an apartment as long as you provide it with enough room and spaces for exercises and activities. What you must have is a large yard if you are living in a house for it to dig the ground and run around as it likes. And more so, if you are given to being away from home most of the time, getting a boxer may not be the best for you and the dog, because they usually get aggressive when left alone. Boxers are known as loud snorers and they drool greatly too. Boxers are playful and very energetic dogs as such regular exercises are part of a good canine relationship, especially a breed of this sort. Your boxer should be allowed to play in a fenced area and on-leashed since it is likely to jump and leap around in excitement. This puts a boxer as a bad choice for a frail owner as they may find it a tad impossible and daunting keeping up with its excessive activity demands. Being a breed with a short and thin coat its grooming demands are quite easy and little, all it needs is a light brushing of the hair twice every week to maintain its good and gleeful looks. Bathing should be a once in a while since boxers are generally clean dogs and its nails, be trimmed once every month or as often as they grow worn on surfaces, its teeth should also be brushed daily to avoid tartar formation and other dental crises. Our Boxer puppies for sale come from either USDA licensed commercial breeders or hobby breeders with no more than 5 breeding mothers. We only purchase puppies from the very best sources, and we stand behind every puppy we sell. Boxer Puppies for Sale.

Moose is also excellent at sitting on command. Hope all is well with you and your family! Emily T. From the start you all were very caring and informative. You have prepared us well for our long journey ahead with our baby boy Oakley A. A Tucker. I want to thank you for always being there to answer all my questions and the pictures you would send our way, it always brought a smile to my face. It has been 3 days since my children A. It was worth a million to see there reactions and smiles, Oakley greeted them all happy and with so much love. On our drive back we actually were afraid we left him in San Antonio lol not once did he make a sound. He gives us so much love that its so easy to give it back. He only has had 2 accidents since arriving both our faults, and he has slept through out the whole night after the first day. The first day he just woke us up twice to go potty but went back to sleep. At the vet he got checked and they said he was perfect and amazing. They were so in love with him. The vet said he was so well taken care of and it showed, we did credit it all to welcome home labs. Today he started his obedience training lessons at home and the trainer was amazed to see such a well tempered labrador. She was actually speechless as she saw how well he obeyed commands already. So thank you again for giving us our newest family addition and we only hope we can give him as much love as you have given him and that he deserves. We will keep in touch. Thank you, Angel, Jolyn, A. This is a dream come true. I have always loved labs. I have done my research on the breed and I knew what I wanted. Welcome Home Labs has fulfilled that and then some. From the first day, it has been a pleasure getting to know you. You took the time to match me with a puppy that would fit with what I was looking for. You gave me an option. I promise to take good care of Monroe. She is already loved. I know she will be an awesome addition to my family. She will have a big fall with a few planned hunting trips for grouse at the shack, then Iowa for a pheasant hunt, and ending the fall with a duck hunt. These will be short trips, just to get her started. Aside from hunting, she is going to join Karney in being a family pet. I have a feeling my bed is going to get very crowded this year. I will send pictures to update you on her progress. I would recommend your kennel to anyone looking for a good experience and a beautiful Lab. Please, enjoy these cookies. A big thank you to your kids for loving on my little girl. I will let you know when we get back to International Falls. Dogs help children to be more physically fit. All dogs, regardless of breed, need to be walked. Children who take their dogs for regularly scheduled walks tend to exercise more than those who have no reason to get up off the couch and leave the TV. The Journal of Physical Activity and Health concluded that people who walk their dogs generally walk about an hour longer per day than non-dog walkers. There are a number of explanations for exactly how dogs accomplish all these health benefits. First of all, dogs need walking, feeding, grooming, fresh water, and they encourage lots of playing and petting. All of these activities require some action from owners. Studies have shown that when people pet animals, their blood pressure, heart rate, and temperature decrease. Our world class Labrador Retrievers puppies for sale! Our Latest Happy Clients!
