Videos and Cams Poodle learns about life outside a puppy mill Poodle rescued from a dog breeding facility comes to the Sanctuary where he is getting socialized and learning how to be a happy, well-adjusted dog. By Christelle L. But this is big progress for the six-year-old dog. Doodle puppies for sale Arthur came to the Sanctuary from the Jacksonville Humane Society in Florida , but he spent the first part of his life in a puppy mill. Poodles and mixes also known as doodles are popular for people to buy online and in pet stores, but people have a tendency to purchase without understanding the terrible conditions in which the dogs are raised. Puppy mill dogs endure a great deal of stress and lack socialization, causing the dogs to have a hard time fitting into life outside of a cage — even if they are lucky enough to be rescued. Arthur needed some extra help to get ready for life in a home of his own, and Dogtown caregivers, who have plenty of patience and experience with dogs rescued from the pet trade, were happy to step in to provide it. Caregivers practiced putting his leash on him until he was comfortable enough to try going for a walk. They carried him through the gate of his yard until he was brave enough to do it himself. They played nature shows for him, because they seemed to calm and comfort him. And since he likes to be able to predict what will happen throughout the day, they provided him with a structured routine. Slowly, Arthur started coming into his own. Then following another dog was OK, even if it meant hopping into a car. There were many tiny steps forward when he felt safe and would bravely approach new people, new dogs and new experiences. At each point, his curiosity and confidence grew. He once stole a pair of socks she had set aside, and he tried to reach up onto a rack where dog treats are kept. He loves his poodle, Riley, and has been known to play with cats on occasion, even though he's allergic to them. Other interests include ice cream, riding his bicycle, and the Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. He lives in Iowa. Published on November 16, Photo: Courtesy of ASPCA Without help from canine health and behavior experts, Lolly the poodle mix would've never been able to find a forever home after she was rescued from deplorable conditions in an Iowa breeding facility. She was not only physically sick, but she was unsocialized and extremely fearful of humans. Medicine and physical care helped with those, but her behavior was a bigger challenge. Darren Young, CPDT-KA and a behavioral rehabilitation specialist at the Behavioral Rehabilitation Center, says the BRC is the first facility of its kind, a place where canine victims of cruelty and neglect go to recover from their trauma. Lolly, and plenty of other dogs from her puppy mill , showed "severe fear" when they first arrived at the BRC. They cowered in their kennels and tried their best to avoid humans; acted frantic and panicked in a room of people; trembled; and refrained from eating or playing with toys. Specifically, Lolly was nervously pacing, so much so that her paw pads were sweating. There was a lot of work to do. The BRC team taught Lolly to associate positive things with people, places, and walking on a leash. Eventually, she came out of her shell, becoming excited to work with the handlers each day and seeking out pets and laps. After six weeks, she was ready to graduate from the program. That's about the time she was dealing with some discharge in the fur beneath her eye, so she was taken to Eisenback, the senior director of veterinary services at the BRC. She was in the market for a new dog to spend time with her daughters and her other dog. And she has been a great fit, running around in her yard, playing with her canine sibling, and sleeping each night with Eisenback's youngest daughter. And she still accompanies Eisenback to the BRC, where she works as a helper dog with other pups who are experiencing trauma. She helps the other dogs gain confidence around daily activities and people and allows them to show some joy and playfulness. Who doesn't love a dog who gives back? Was this page helpful? A social-media video that traces a former 'puppy mill' dog's journey back to health after being rescued has tugged at heartstrings across the internet. It shows the female poodle 'puppy mill mama' growing in confidence after being adopted by a loving family. The video's creator had shared in the post that the frail pup wouldn't even look at her new family while traveling home with them by car, because she was "expecting the worst. We are a c 3 nonprofit that rescues dogs in need. This video is the transformation of a puppy mill mama. She is 2. Mill dogs, especially adults, come petrified of all humans. They expect us to abuse them, and continue to breed them. It takes time to rehabilitate these dogs. It's sad because I've seen super young puppies be scared of humans because of what happened to them in the mills. It is rewarding seeing their progress once they are free," they added. The pup's new owner said the dog had been rescued three weeks prior to the video going live. The footage shows audiences clips both of the poodle looking frightened at the puppy mill and of her playing with other dogs with confidence while wagging her tail in her new environment. The video is captioned: "The best part is seeing the transformation. Puppy mills are commercial breeding grounds or farms where puppies are produced rapidly and by force, often in poor and unethical conditions, for monetary profit. Animal-welfare organization PETA says that puppy mills are a "well-kept secret of the pet-trade industry. The organization says that female dogs like the poodle featured in the TikTok post are typically bred over and over again until they can no longer produce puppies for profit. At that point, the female dog is usually auctioned off or put down.

They originate from a cross between two French Bulldogs that are on the lower end of the normal size range. These are usually the runts of two unrelated French Bulldog litters and breeders mate them to create smaller and smaller sized Frenchie puppies until they consistently get the teacup size. Alternatively, breeders cross another smaller dog breed into the lineage however these Frenchies are not purebred dogs. As it is an unofficial French Bulldog size, there are many different names breeders give the smallest size of Frenchie. These are all the same size dog. Overall, the breeding practice is unnatural and many breeders do it to have a marketing edge. Often, the French Bulldogs that are selected for breedings are smaller than normal because of a medical condition or a birth defect, leading to further health risks with each successive generation. An adult sized dog raincoat to keep them dry during wet weather An adult sized dog life jacket to help with swimming in lakes and oceans An adult sized dog jacket for cold winter weather A dog cooling vest if you live in a hot climate High quality no-pull dog harness to reduce stress on their neck while walking And other similar products Micro French Bulldog Temperament Micro French Bulldogs are super affectionate and friendly, making them a great companion dog. While they are so friendly, they are not a great match for families with children as Micro Frenchies are quite fragile due to their small size. They are also a good breed for apartment living due to their small size and low energy and exercise requirements. Their lifespan is shorter than a Standard French Bulldog as they are more susceptible to health issues due to their tiny size. There are many factors that influence the cost of a Micro Frenchie however coat color generally has the greatest effect. Rare coat colors such as merle are significantly more expensive than common coat colors.

Just waiting there for me. I know there will be a specialty ring. And we will get that one last show! She was a granddaughter of Ch. Sundae met with a tragic death shortly after. I grieved her for fifteen years before coming back into German Shepherds. She taught me much, and I think about her everyday. My favorite memory of Sundae was the stormy night, at under 2 years old, when she won a 5 pt major at the Atlanta Specialty under Dr. Walter Frost. It was our first time in Open. I will never forget that night. We entered the ring last in a long line of spectacular bitches. The classes were huge then. Young Jimmy Moses and Doug Crane were there with the bitches that everyone knew. We were nobodies and last in line. The class lasted forever, and I thought my lungs would burst. Sundae pulled me around the ring endlessly and effortlessly. Every time we went around, Dr. Frost moved us up one place. There were 27 bitches in the open class that night. The crowd was going wild! As Dr. When Dr. Frost came back up the line, he took another lo-o-n-n-g, h-a-r-d look at Sundae. After taking just Jimmy and I around a few times, and having us switch places each time, he put Sundae up front and took the whole class around one last time. When I started to leave the ring, overcome with joy. Jimmy stopped me. You have to go back in for Winners. She pulled me around a few more times. Frost pointed at us, I thought I had lived and gone to heaven! I wrote the poem above when Sundae was shot and killed by an unknown intruder. I know Sundae waits for me. I know there will be a specialty ring in heaven. And we will finish with a major! Serena had the best temperament of any gsd I have owned. When I took her home at 10 weeks, crated in the front seat of my car, I thought she must either be asleep or frightened. When I glanced in the crate door, however, she was just as cool as a cucumber. She certainly had what it takes! Unfortunately, she also had severe elbow dysplasia in both elbows and a subluxated patella in her left knee. All of this surfaced when she began to limp right after taking her first two points. I loved her so much that I shelled out thousands of dollars for surgery on both elbows and the knee. Poor Serena underwent a lot of surgery! But, she recovered well and was my special girl for eight years until it was time to let her go. I knew our time together would be brief and resolved never to turn her down when she brought me a leash or a ball. I kept this promise. When the time came, Serena left me as calmly as she rode home with me that first day. She is the foundation bitch that replaced Serena. Venus came to me at 4 months of age, so she did not get the early training my puppies usually benefit from. She hated the show ring and refused to have anything to do with it. While this picture of her is blurry, I was lucky to get a stacked picture of her at all! Paul match. But, she loved the whelping box and was a great mom. I had to wait several years to breed her while I put my son through college, so she only had two litters. Venus was also a great protector. She foiled a burglary at my house one night. The thieves had already stolen from my neighbors when they opened my back garden gate. Venus slept in the house by a glass patio door that overlooked that gate. The burglars came face-to-face with her when they opened the gate and Venus slammed her upright body into that glass door! She more than compensated for not being a show dog! What a magnificent dog he was in every way! Jack was the pick puppy from the Hearts litter and was owned by Martha Simonett and Van Dukeman and was handled and trained expertly and exclusively by the team of Kent Boyles and Liz Oster. He was loved by all. And he was. In addition to being a heart-stopping show dog, Jack had natural herding ability and loved going to the farm to work sheep. He was a friend to everyone he met and an excellent ambassador for the breed. He loved puppies and could be trusted to play gently with them as they took balls and bones out of his mouth. As his breeder, I could not have been prouder of him. I am so glad that I was there to cheer him on at the Midwest Futurity. Jack died suddenly, of mesenteric torsion. I will never forget you, Jack. Oh, Callie, you made my every dream come true, plus some I never dared to dream, and gave me your unconditional love for ten wonderful years! I miss you so much! The journey to Callie involved a great deal of study and preparation. Before deciding to become a breeder, I studied the Breed Standard, went to National and Regional specialty shows, attended Futurities, studied back issues of the Redbook and German Shepherd Dog Review, and talked with successful breeders for nine years. I wanted to have a firm idea of exactly what kind of German Shepherds I wanted to produce and contribute to the gene pool before I made my first breeding. It was my way to give back to this breed that had meant so much to me for my entire life. My first breeding produced my ideal: Callie. Callie was sired by Ch. She grew into a beautiful puppy. She was one of those rare ones who never had an ugly day or took an awkward step. Even as an adolescent, she was beautiful. The picture above was taken at 15 months. Callie finished with a major in Duluth, MN in July of .My initial dream of having one home-bred champion had come true! I resolved to reward Callie by finding something she loved to do. We went to obedience class. That was okay. Callie got her Beginner Novice title with no trouble. We went to Rally class. We went. Callie truly came alive the second she saw those sheep! I had never seen anything like it! She totally turned on, and I got to see Callie for who she really was! During the herding years, Callie became a mom as well. I had set a new goal of 3 homebred champions and wanted a Callie daughter to raise. I also wanted to bring Sel Ch. Honky Tonk Man. I met his breeder, Martha Simonett, and a breeding was arranged. Callie delivered 14 beautiful puppies, 3 of which became champions. Following the weaning of the Hearts litter, Callie and I happily went back to herding. I dared to set my sights on the new goal of six homebred champions. I loved being a breeder! I loved everything about it: pouring over pedigrees of potential studs, seeing the studs and their progeny every year at the National, breeding, whelping puppies, sitting transfixed for weeks at the whelping box, and extensively screening potential owners to make sure that the puppies went only to the best homes. When the Hearts litter was around a year old, Kent approached me at a show and asked If I would be interested in returning Callie to the show ring to compete in Best of Breed at some all breeds with him as her handler. He said he thought Callie had the potential to go Best in Show. I felt surprised, and honored, that he thought so highly of Callie. While she was overjoyed to see me, she clearly loved Kent and loved performing for him. Callie had come into her own as a show dog! Kent entered her in six all-breed shows as a Special. She went Best of Breed at all six shows, took four Group firsts and a Group second. While she did not go Best in Show, and Reserve Best in Show was not awarded at that time, I think she came very close a couple of times. I was thrilled with the Group wins. These were firsts for me. Watching Callie with Kent was like seeing Callie anew. My favorite memory of the Group wins was the day she won the Group under judge Linda Robey. Kent and I were leaving the building after another dog had gone Best in Show. Linda came running after us. She knew Kent but did not know me. Who is this beautiful bitch? I have not seen such a beautiful and totally sound German Shepherd since Dallas Ch. Then came a moment of pride that I will always remember. He did not touch or speak to her. He stepped back and moved his wrist ever so slightly. Callie stepped forward, on a loose leash, and stacked herself perfectly. I had never seen Callie do this. It all happened in a split second of communication between Kent and Callie. He was instantly forgiven all past and future unreturned phone calls! There were 3 champions from the Stevie Litter and another 3 from the Tucker litter. When bred at age 7, she did not conceive. I decided to try one more time and bred her to Grand Victor Ch. She had two puppies by emergency C-section, 1 boy and 1 girl. At ten years of age, Callie developed osteosarcoma in her left knee. The only thing I could do for her was to minimize her suffering and wrap my arms around her as she peacefully left this earth. As I approach my 70th birthday in April of , I am so thankful for the ten years I spent with Callie. She was my constant companion, best friend, protector, and purveyor of lifelong dreams. She continues to bring joy to those who own her children and grandchildren. She will enrich the gene pool for years to come. And, that is what being a foundation brood bitch should be all about. Thank you, Callie, from all of the lives you have touched and will touch with your beauty, intelligence, courage and grace. Long as it is, it means a lot to me to share it with you. Zoa Rockenstein St. Cloud, Minnesota zrockenstein yahoo. Email Five German shepherd-husky mix puppies were found in a box today on Martin Road, apparently dumped there by someone who didn't want them. A driver passed the box, almost hitting it, and then went back to move it off the road because of safety concerns. When he looked inside the box, he saw the puppies, according to Jim Filby Williams, executive director of the Animal Allies shelter in Duluth. The puppies were brought to Animal Allies. They're young -- about seven to eight weeks old -- but generally in good shape, Williams said. One of the dogs has "a rare congenital defect--two left front legs," Williams said. Veterinarians at the shelter think all of the puppies will be able to be adopted, beginning Tuesday. They are examining the dogs this afternoon. Gabriel, the puppy with the leg deformity, may need surgery. We're still reporting this story. Check back later for more details and see Friday's print edition of the News Tribune for a complete report. By late Friday afternoon, all had been adopted. Veterinarians say they think the dog, which they have named Gabriel, will be fine, though he may need surgery.
Conclusion Do Golden Retrievers Shed? Golden retrievers do shed. Shedding from Golden Retrievers usually tends to be a moderate to heavy amount depending on the dog. However, by keeping a simple brushing and coat grooming routine, you can reduce the amount significantly. Stating exactly how much a Golden Retriever will shed is not so simple, because shedding can vary a good deal from one individual dog to the next. For most Golden Retrievers, you can expect moderate shedding to be healthy. Moderate shedding can be thought of as finding stray hairs floating around on flooring and fur sticking to furniture or clothes the dog is up against. Certain factors, however, can cause more substantial shedding. Heavy shedding can look like tufts of dog hair falling out as opposed to stray hairs. Knowing when to expect extra shedding can help you stay on top of it! Types of Shedding There are three types of regular shedding. While there are many reasons that a Golden might shed, here are the three most common found in dogs. Seasonal Shedding Many Golden Retriever owners will notice that twice a year shedding briefly, but sharply, increases. During the fall season, your Golden Retriever will be growing in a thicker, warmer winter coat. This means the lighter, thinner coat from summer will be distributed wherever they go in the meantime. Come spring, that heavy coat is not going to be doing them any good. Golden retriever puppies are born with a coat that is extra thick and protective. Since they will not need the extra warmth as they get bigger, this coat is usually shed by the time a Golden Retriever reaches four to six months old. The amount of fur they are losing should decrease around the sixth month. Especially in male dogs, changes in their hormones after the procedure can affect their coats. They will adjust to this change, and shedding should go back to normal as they recover. If you are considering neutering or spaying, be prepared for the possibility of extra shedding. Effect of Diet on Shedding If your Golden Retriever is not on a high-quality diet, it can affect their skin and coat. Dry skin and a more brittle coat will increase shedding. A healthy diet that is rich in fatty acids and digestible proteins will make for a robust and healthy coat and less shedding. Shedding Caused by Stress Stress can have adverse effects on dogs, similar to the way it affects humans. So, high-stress levels can contribute to excessive shedding of fur. Are they regularly fed and given water? Are they able to regularly get enough rest? Are they getting enough exercise? Are they being bonded with and given attention? By ensuring proper care in these areas and a safe, consistent environment, you will keep your golden retriever happy and healthy. How to Manage Shedding Below are a few ways to deal with shedding. While some of the ways minimize the amount of fur that is shed, others are ways to deal with the fur already shed. Regular Grooming The good news is that by implementing some regular grooming, you can significantly reduce the amount of fur that falls off throughout your house. Start by brushing your Golden Retriever three or four times weekly and increase brushing if needed. At times when shedding picks up, like spring and fall, daily brushing may be required to have a significant impact of shedding. Bathing Bathing your Golden Retriever works like brushing by gently removing stray fur before it falls from the coat naturally. Using quality shampoo will help to keep their coat intact by making hair healthy and strong. Bathe your Golden Retriever at least once a month, but no more than every other week. Your regular dog brush will undoubtedly get the job done in removing some excess fur, but you can prevent even more shedding by using brushes designed to pick up loose fur. To find the best product for you and your dog, make sure to find a brush meant for the long-haired, double coat that golden retrievers have. A dog who enjoys being brushed will love sitting still to be pet with grooming gloves! Besides what will best suit your pup, there are plenty of options in price, colors, and features. Controlling the Mess Despite your best efforts, some fur will inevitably trail behind your Golden Retriever. The right cleaning products can make all the difference in keeping fur at bay in your home. Vacuuming A good vacuum can make keeping up with fur much more manageable, or much more difficult. If you have a Golden Retriever, you will likely find yourself vacuuming behind them at least three days a week or more during the heavy shedding period. If you rely heavily on a vacuum, consider one made specifically to catch and pick up pet hair. By picking up the most hair the first time around, these vacuums will save you time and stress. Furniture Covers Covering furniture prevents dog hair from sticking to surfaces that it easily clings to and is harder to clean. Covering your furniture does not have to mean uncomfortable plastic over your couch. Slipcovers offer protection for your furniture, keeping your home cleaner all while being comfortable and looking beautiful. Lint Rollers For the fur that finds its way on your all-black outfit or favorite sweater, a lint roller is a perfect solution. Keeping one by the door for after saying goodbye to your Golden Retriever can be very handy. In a pinch, lint rollers can also be great to clean pillows and small chairs! But as Golden Retriever lovers, we understand we have to take the bad with the good. We love their beautiful coats and their lovable personalities. By combining the proper care with effective cleaning methods, you can keep your home clean, and you and your Golden Retriever happy. He and his wife have three children who are always keeping Brady entertained. They love spending time together, traveling, and meeting other dog families. Recent Posts. Do Golden Retrievers Shed? How Much? Posted on April 5, by Galen Kauffman Share: If you have Golden Retrievers or any other dog for that matter sharing your home, you will be aware of the excess fur on the floor, on your furniture and on your clothes. This shedding of hair occurs when your furry friend loses dead fur to make room for new fur to grow. They do research on the different pet vacuums available and that work with ease on hardwood floors, carpets and tiles. Of course, not all dog breeds are the same — some have short hair, others medium length fur and others have long hair The way your dog sheds will depend on its breed and other factors. A dog that spends much of their time outdoors will have thicker fur compared to indoor dogs. There are also genetic and seasonal variations. The hair helps the Golden to maintain temperature all year around in hot and cold weather. As the Golden Retriever matures it will have longer feathered hair around the neck, belly area, legs and tail. These areas are all prone to matting and will need to be brushed. Read about the best brushes for your golden retriever here. When Do Golden Retrievers Shed? The Golden Retriever is such an awesome family dog and his gorgeous golden coat is his trademark. If you have owned a Golden Retriever you will know that these beautiful, social, energetic, intelligent dogs shed the entire year round and that their shedding can be described as moderate to fairly heavy. Grooming your Golden Retriever is key to keeping him healthy. You do, however, need the right grooming tools for shedding. This can be done with different kinds of brushes and also an undercoat rake. You can keep on top of Golden Retriever shedding by brushing with special grooming equipment on a regular basis. They start shedding at 6 months of age An undercoat also emerges which thickens as the dog matures. Your Golden Retriever puppy will shed his coat when he is about 6 months old. Once he starts shedding his puppy coat it will take a year or so to grow in. Some Goldens are already 18 months old before the entire double coat growing process is completed. Shedding for the Golden Retriever is at its heaviest during the late Spring when the weather starts to warm. Your Golden gets rid of his winter undercoat to make way for the lighter undercoat. The Golden Retriever develops a double coat. Goldens also get feathers over the stomach and around the legs. Shedding Triggers For Golden Retrievers Diet Take a good look at his diet to ensure he is getting the best nutrition possible for a healthy, silky coat. Shedding, grooming and nutrition go hand in hand. A healthy coat is always soft, smooth and shiny and not greasy with odor. A dog with an unhealthy coat usually has dry, brittle hair with plenty of loose hair. Signs of an unhealthy coat include bare spots. Shedding is perfectly natural, but dog owners can still do one or two things to help their dogs shed just a little less. Shedding can be a sign of a nutritional deficiency. Of course, grooming is essential but there are dog foods specifically formulated to reduce dog shedding because of the right mix of nutrients a canine needs. Omega 3 fatty acids With a Golden Retriever puppy, a food allergy can cause unnatural hair loss. Controlling allergies will stop your pet from ongoing scratching at their skin. Lots of scratching can increase the amount of hair your pet sheds, so make sure your Golden is being treated for fleas. Some foods such as tuna have essential nutrients such as Omega 3 fatty acid. Coconut oil added into food can keep the skin hydrated. It is also great for reducing dandruff and preventing fleas. Flaxseed oil can help improve the skin and fur of your Golden. Ensure your Golden has constant access to fresh, cool water. Make sure the water bowl is always clean. Some people buy a dog water fountain as the fun aspect of splashing his snout around in the water encourages more water intake. Bathing While bathing your dog is a way to get rid of excessive loose fur on your Golden, you have to be careful about bathing your dog too often as the situation with troublesome, itchy skin can backfire. The natural oils of your Golden Retriever help to keep his coat dirt resistant and water-repellant. Nevertheless, your Golden will require bathing, but very occasionally, say every 6 weeks or so. You have to look at the lifestyle of your dog. If you live on a large farm-type property and your Golden is constantly plunging into the farm dam, this frequent swimming can lead to a dirty coat and an unpleasant smell. Stress This makes perfect sense as just like humans lose their hair under stressful conditions, so do dogs. Your Golden is such a happy, amicable dog with a non-stop wagging tail. Keep him that way by keeping stress at bay. This is done by means of — Regular exercise Providing a constant supply of fresh cool water Feeding him a regular, nutritious diet Providing him with loving attention Providing him with a warm, dry, peaceful sleeping area Getting him to the vet when he shows signs of illness Shedding increases with spaying and neutering When humans are under par, their immune system suffers and their hair is lank and unhealthy. Spaying and neutering your Golden Retriever is similar. It can be a setback for their system. Hormonal changes can alter his shedding. You may see more shedding than normal. Give your beloved pet time to recover after the op, spoil him or her with nutritional treats and soon they will recover as they enter a new season of their lives. Golden Retrievers are just sheer joy but there is that one downside — their shedding. So apart from the tips mentioned above, what else can you do to make the best of their shedding? Make sure that you buy your Golden Retriever puppy from a responsible breeder. With a poor breeder you always get unpredictability and poor qualities in your dog. Responsible breeders always take the trouble to find good homes for every dog they breed. They also take great care to produce healthy puppies with the right temperament — and the normal amount of shedding. Not all dog breeders are ethical and you may spend a fortune in specialized dog products and vet fees to try and treat the problems you see in an il-bred puppy. As a Golden Retriever owner, educate yourself on shedding, learn how to buy a puppy that gives you less problems and how to take the right steps to keep this natural process under control. These slicker brushes have fine wire bristles that remove tangles and smooth the fur for a shiny coat. They are great for heavy shedders. They are great for shampooing your dog and for massaging while simultaneously removing loose hair. At the same time they stimulate blood flow to encourage a healthy shine. After you have brushed your pet, take him outside and comb his hair with your hands in the same direction that his fur lies. Undercoat rakes These shedding tools are a must-have for a Golden as they get to the thick bottom layer to remove excess loose fur. They make you work hard, so choose one with a well designed, ergonomic handle to prevent you from having an aching wrist. Some of the best undercoat rakes have a double row of stainless steel pins that loosen dead hair but which are soothing for your dog. There are also medicated shampoos for treating the likes of fleas. There he will get a good bath, a good brush and rub down and the groomer will check his nails, and inside his ears. Hair Dryer Air drying can take quite a time and by then the damp hair has attracted new dust and dirt. A doggy doggy blow dryer gets the job done chop-chop and at the same time it blows out all loose hair. Rather invest in a doggy hair dryer that has been designed specifically for dogs. They can be ordered easily online at Amazon. Of course there are going to be factors to consider when it comes to choosing a canine family member for your home. You have to first of all take into account the size of your property and what size dog would suit your surroundings. These are large, active gun dogs that require plenty of activity and exercise. As a dog owner, you have a responsibility towards your dog. He depends on you for his daily food, your love, shelter and care. A dog like the Golden Retriever with his longer silky coat will shed more than a dog with a short, sleek coat. Be the first to know when we have new puppies! All Rights Reserved. However, Goldens do shed a lot. If you have a Golden at home, chances are you find yourself vacuuming often and peeling blonde hairs off your black clothing. Of course, the companionship your Golden brings you is worth all the shedding in the world — but you might still be wondering why these dogs shed so much. Golden Retrievers are unique because they have double coats. Most dogs breeds have double coats that shed. These double coats consist of a waterproof topcoat and a warm, soft undercoat. Each coat has a purpose: Image Source Topcoat: The waterproof outer coat is made of medium to long hairs that protect the dog from the elements. These shorter hairs help regulate body temperature by keeping the body warm in cold weather and cool in hot weather. Not only do these two coats work together to keep Goldens protected and comfortable, but they also go through shedding cycles — and this is why Golden Retrievers shed quite a bit. When Do Golden Retrievers Shed? Like all dogs with double coats, Goldens are moderate shedders for most of the year. They shed more during these two transitional seasons because their bodies are adapting to the changing climate. In fall, their coats thicken up as they get rid of the lighter summer coat. Here are some things you can try to reduce shedding. Option 1: Brush Frequently with a Comb or Blade The key to controlling excessive shedding is frequent brushing. With regular brushing, you can get to the fur before it spreads around your home. For your Golden, you should use a combination of these brushes at least three to five times a week: A metal comb for the feathers A slicker brush for the topcoat An undercoat rake for the undercoat Not only does regular brushing remove loose fur and prevent excess shedding, but it also helps distribute natural oils. It stimulates the surface of the skin and removes dead cells and dry skin as well — which can lead to a healthier and shinier coat. Plus, brushing sessions can help you form a closer bond, and your pup will look forward to your one-on-one time together! Option 2: Visit a Professional Groomer When it comes to long-haired dogs like Golden Retrievers, visits to a professional groomer help keep your pet healthy and properly groomed. Professional groomers have experience with double coats, and they know precisely how to ensure that your dog always looks and feels its best. Your groomer is able to provide a good time frame for recurring appointments to prevent excessive shedding in between. Since Golden Retrievers are a medium-large breed, the price might be higher than average. That way, you can buy high-quality food with the proper nutrients. Biotin: This vitamin is excellent for maintaining healthy skin, fur, and nails. It also helps with growth, digestion, and muscle formation. Vitamin E: It protects skin cells and prevents inflammation. Flaxseed oil: This oil has anti-inflammatory properties that can help ease arthritis, lower blood pressure, improve kidney function, and maintain healthy skin and coat. You can also add nourishing foods. Just be sure to feed your Golden Retriever the right balance of protein , fat, and carbs. You can also feed your puppy small amounts of honey to help strengthen his immune system against common outdoor allergies like pollen. Salmon: This fatty fish is rich in good fats, amino acids, vitamins, and protein. Chicken: An excellent source of lean protein, omega 6, omega 3, and vitamin B. Pumpkin: Provides loads of beta-carotene, minerals, and fiber. Apples: Excellent source of potassium, vitamin C, and fiber. Blueberries: These berries are rich in antioxidants. Cantaloupe: This tasty melon is packed with nutrients but low in calories, making it a healthy treat. Carrots: Carrots are high in fiber and beta-carotene. Celery: This veggie is a crunchy snack that provides vitamins A, B, and C. Green beans: These veggies are a good source of vitamins A, C, and K, iron, and fiber. Peaches: This stone fruit is an excellent source of vitamin A and fiber, and it can help fight infections. Pears: These tasty fruits are rich in copper, vitamins C and K, and fiber. Watermelon: Another good melon for dogs, watermelon is packed with vitamins A, B-6, and C, as well as potassium. If your dog has a skin allergy, this can become even more problematic. The best defense against these small pests is to keep your dog on a year-round flea and tick preventive medication. In most cases, veterinarians will recommend a monthly medication to help prevent dogs from developing a flea or tick problem. However, every month might not be necessary, depending on where you live. Snowy Pines is located in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, where flea and tick season lasts between February and December. However, other states like Connecticut only experience flea and tick season from April to December. Jerry Klein. Learn more about how much water your Golden Retriever should be drinking every day. You should never shave your Golden Retriever because doing so can damage his coat. Remember that Golden Retrievers have a double coat to protect them during harsh conditions. How to Recognize Unusual Golden Retriever Shedding While shedding in Goldens is entirely normal, there are signs of unusual shedding you should look out for. They could be symptoms of a more serious underlying issue. If you notice that your Golden is dealing with any of the following, your pup may be shedding more than normal: Dry or brittle hair Irritated skin or bald patches Disliking being touched or pet It can be difficult to determine the underlying cause of abnormal shedding, but here are three of the most common: Problem 1: Unbalanced Diet Like people, Goldens need high-quality food, plenty of water, and proper nutrition to stay healthy. Ensuring your pup has a balanced diet with healthy proteins, fats, and carbs is the best way to improve their coat. Do Golden Retrievers Shed? How Much? A Little? A Lot? Experts recommend brushing him at least three times per week. Or daily if you can—especially during shedding season. You want to make sure to use the proper grooming tools. Many recommend an undercoat rake to remove excess undercoat. And a slicker brush to help remove excess hair. Some people recommend using the Furminator to help remove excessive undercoat. Massaging your golden after brushing can help remove loose hair that was removed by brushing. Run your fingers down their coats in the same direction as their fur grows to help remove excess hair. His coat is meant to regulate his body temperature and protect him from the elements. Some golden experts say to bathe him every one to two months. They tend to get hot spots, and wet areas under his coat could make him more susceptible. Make sure to use a high-quality shampoo. Lint Rollers You can also purchase lint-type rollers to remove hair from your clothing and your furniture. Spaying or Neutering Goldens may shed more often when their hormonal balance changes after spaying or neutering. And a diet with fillers and low-quality ingredients can adversely affect his health, potentially leading to dry, unhealthy skin and a poor coat. Some goldens benefit from the addition of Omega 3 fatty acids to their diet. Allergies can cause skin irritations, rashes, and excessive shedding. Parasites Fleas and ticks can cause skin problems and excessive shedding. And follow a prevention plan that your vet recommends. Just like us, stress affects the body and can even lead to excessive hair loss. So do all you can to help him not be too stressed. Maintain a regular schedule for him as much as possible. Feed him at regular times each day. Make sure he has a sufficient amount of regular exercise for his age and health. And meet his need for play and attention. Goldens are attention magnets and wither if not given enough contact with their beloved family. He cherishes your bond as much—if not more than—you do! So keeping our stress levels low can benefit you and your dog. And make sure that he has enough rest and sleep each day. There are some vacuums that claim they are exceptional at picking up pet hair. If yours loves to swim, it can help remove excess hair. Beds and Throws Provide a comfy dog bed for your golden. It will help keep your furniture hair-free. They even make orthopedic ones that your dog will love. Get one with a removable, washable cover to keep him and your house clean. If you let your canine family member on your furniture, you can have it covered by washable throws made for that purpose. My dogs are allowed on the family-room furniture. I just have washable throw covers that are made to cover the sofa and the recliner on them. It also helps him regulate his temperature in both hot and cold weather. And it helps protect him from getting sunburned. At worst, they may have chemicals that can be harmful to your beloved golden. And two times a year they have an excessive amount of shedding when they blow their coats in spring and fall. Fortunately, there are many ways we can manage and deal with their shedding. Very large text size Advertisement Watching Coco and Venus, two cavoodle puppies, play with John Grima, it is not hard to understand why these dogs are popular pets. John Grima with his cavoodle Coco,11 months old, and nine-week-old puppy at his Kellyville Pets shop. Credit: Louise Kennerley "Cavoodles have become popular for very good reason," he said. An artist's impression of the proposed dog breeding facility near Bathurst. Credit: Christian Stokes Alex Vince, a spokesman for Animal Liberation, said Mr Grima's pet shop should only source dogs from rescue or rehoming organisations. Mr Vince highlighted numerous examples of dogs kept in squalid conditions and suffering from neglect on puppy farms, including a recent case in southern Queensland where deceased animals were lying near dogs that were tethered. John Grima's proposal to develop a dog breeding facility to supply poodle crossbreeds to his Kellyville Pets shop has provoked opposition from residents and animal welfare campaigners. Credit: Louise Kennerley Mr Grima said his proposal was not a puppy farm and would "significantly improve animal welfare outcomes". John Grima said the proposed dog breeding facility is designed to address concerns about puppy farms. Credit: Louise Kennerley High fences and "non-koala feed trees" are proposed to protect the koala habitat that adjoins part of the property. Mr Grima said breeding activity would be based on veterinary advice and exceed standards set by law and animal welfare groups. Mr Southorn said the council would consider whether the proposed dog breeding facility is permissible under the Local Environmental Plan, any development controls, the suitability of the site, likely environment, social and economic impacts and the public interest. Mr Vince said the motivation for the dog breeding facility was financial "and we have found that when money is the primary motivation the welfare of the animals becomes a secondary consideration". Mr Vince initiated a petition calling on Bathurst Regional Council to reject the development of a "puppy farm", which has received more than signatures. He said NSW law was "toothless" when it came to puppy farms. An RSPCA spokeswoman said the organisation supported stronger protections around animal welfare and tougher penalties. Mr Grima said the types of dogs people want — a decision influenced by the size of their yards and lifestyles — are sometimes not found in pounds or shelters. Tough laws in Victoria The proposal for a dog breeding facility follows changes to Victorian laws in December that restrict the number of fertile females that dog breeders can keep and permit pet shops to only sell dogs and cats sourced from shelters, pounds or enrolled foster carers. Debra Tranter, a spokeswoman for animal welfare group Oscar's Law, which campaigned for the new laws in Victoria, said NSW legislation was "weak and ambiguous". She also criticised the enforcement of the law in NSW: "In NSW puppy factories are self-regulated and that has and still does fail animals. She said a NSW parliamentary inquiry had concluded that banning pet shop sales would result in less scrutiny of the pet industry without any reasonable expectation of improved animal welfare outcomes — findings criticised by animal welfare groups. The NSW Pet Registry would improve welfare standards through comprehensive tracing of dogs and cats from the breeder through to owners, she said. Use tab to navigate through the menu items. Norwegian Elkhound X Border Collie dogs enjoy many of the good charateristics of both breeds, with some of the extremes moderated. They are intelligent, devoted, loyal, strong, healthy and resilient like both breeds. They have double pelt coat like Nor Elkhound, but shorter hair length than both rough-coat border collie and Nor Elkhound. That makes them furry and soft, and less prone to tick attachment. Personalities are calm, not as hyper as Border Collie, and not as independent as Norwegian Elkhounds. Norwegian Elkhounds have an extremely healthy dna. They are happy to sit as company or to play. I prefer to train them without snack treats, with approval of affection as reward, and calm voiced disapproval and distance as deterrent. If you are interested in blessing your family with this premier companion, look no further than Mini Blessings Labradoodles. Meet the Puppies Hello! We are the Peterson family and we breed Miniature Labradoodles. Blessings Labradoodles began from a family visit to Cheryl's mother, a proud owner of multiple labradoodles. We knew the breed was shed and allergy free. What we didn't know was how incredibly amazing these dogs could be. Adopting our beautiful Bella taught us even more than we could have learned from her mother's experience. Besides their phenomenal intelligence, perhaps the most important thing we've learned is how loving and patient this breed is. If you are looking for a committed family member, not just a puppy, this is the breed for you. This lineage ensures the health and quality you expect from a multi-generational Labradoodle. When you take your new puppy home, it will have been socialized and "family trained" in our own home in Flower Mound, TX Dallas. This experience means we know each puppy's characteristics and can help you choose the perfect pup for your home. However, there is much more to this friendly dog that would make you want to get it as soon as possible. Lifelong Companion Labradoodles have an average life span of 10 to 14 years. Best Service Dogs There is no doubt that Labradoodles make some of the best service dogs because of the temperament that they inherit from both Labrador Retriever and Poodle. They are kind, friendly, gentle, loyal, playful, active, and get along with people quickly. Not just people of all age groups, Labradoodles are also known for getting along with other dogs and animals such as cats. The minimal shedding also eliminates the need to regularly groom them, as you would need to brush them twice a week. Moreover, if you have a swimming pool at your home, that would be the best because Labradoodles love water and swimming is one of their most favorite activities. Labradoodles might be a little stubborn, but they are still much easier to train than other dog breeds. After going through the various reasons listed above, you might be wondering where you can get the best Labradoodle puppies in Dallas. What requirements are there for a future owner of a puppy from a breeder? Most breeders will require that you fill out a questionnaire or application before being considered as an owner. This is to ensure that you are prepared for the responsibility of owning a dog and that you understand the commitment required. Do most breeders health test their dogs, and can I get these records? Yes, most breeders will health test their dogs and provide you with the results. A friend of mine recently bought a puppy from a breeder who assured her that the dogs were health checked by a vet before being allowed to go to their new owners. In addition, all the parent dogs were allegedly checked for genetic conditions. All was well until the pup reached 15 weeks of age. My friend noticed that the puppy seemed to be experiencing discomfort in one of his eyes. The little guy was constantly rubbing at the eye with his paw, and it was inflamed and watery. After carrying out an examination and lots of tests, the vet concluded that the puppy had a form of genetic eye cancer and would most likely finish up losing an eye in the future. Adele contacted the breeder to explain what had happened and ask for proof that the breeder had actually had the parent dogs tested for genetic health conditions. So, I cannot overstress the importance of insisting on visually inspecting the health testing documents before you part with any cash and take a puppy home. What should I expect from a breeder when visiting their home? The dogs should be friendly and well-socialized, and the breeder should be able to answer all of your questions. If there is what looks like a kennel, make sure you see whether they are well-kept. Check out these posts to see our list of top ethical breeders:. Try to pick times when your dog isn't hungry or tired so your dog will be more focused on learning. Be consistent and patient with your dog. December 6, In search of a new forever best friend? Not sure what puppy breed works best for you and your family? Quickly rising in the popularity ranks to spot number two, the French bulldog or more commonly known for their nickname Frenchie is a bundle of cute, silliness, and affection! This compact, low-activity, lap companion is a perfect fit for puppy parents that like a relaxed lifestyle! How do you know if the French Bulldog is the right fit for you and your family? A Brief Background on French Bulldogs! When it comes to French Bulldogs, not where they originally come from! These pups actually made their way over to France from England and were actually Toy Bulldogs. During the mid s, lacemakers from Nottingham, England traveled to Paris bringing along their toy bulldogs and cross-breeding them with bull-baiting bulldogs to gain those tall erect bat ears Frenchies have today! Soon, their popularity in France spread as more Parisian women introduced these pups a staple into city, cafe-culture. What are French Bulldog Breed Characteristics? French Bulldogs have short snouts, round adorable bodies and short legs, square-shaped faces but the most undeniably French Bulldog quality.Although these characteristics breed standard, French Bulldogs come in a variety of colorings including white, cream, tan, grey, black, brown, blue, multi-color, fawn, brindle, merle, lilac, and combinations of each of these! What are French Bulldog Personalities like? These pups have silly personalities, love to play, and can settle right up next to your lap. Unlike the common yappy small dog stereotype, Frenchies are quite affectionate and even-tempered. They love their human families, seek companionship, and enjoy playing with their people. If you were looking for a pup that was thrill-seeking and had a protective quality to their nature, French Bulldogs are far more content with a walk, quick game of tug-of-way or fetch, and would probably rather play with new people and dogs than be protective. While they are relatively easy-going, they can have a bit of a stubborn streak so be prepared with obedience training and to coax your Frenchie with some treats! Much like their early days, French Bulldogs are a great choice for puppy parents living in urban, city environments like apartment buildings. Frenchies, while they love to play, are what is known as a brachycephalic breed. High activity can cause them to overheat and they will have difficulty panting to cool off. While the idea of letting your French Bulldog puppy cool off in water seems right, no swimming for these pups. If you live somewhere with a pool or close to a lake, be mindful of your Frenchie, and even keep a protective float or vest on them! All in all, a home that provides space in a room to play, or walks around the neighborhood or in a park are just what Frenchies need to burn off their energy and keep entertained! How to Care for Your French Bulldog! French Bulldogs, like many short-snouted dogs, can suffer from respiratory issues such as wheezing, snoring, and over-heating in warmer temperatures. While their short coats are generally low-maintenance, French Bulldogs can suffer from eye infections and infections in the folds of their skin. Keeping their eyes clean, regular brushing with a rubber glove, and making sure their skin is completely dry after bathing can significantly help prevent these issues! When you first bring home your new French Bulldog puppy, set up an initial visit with your veterinarian to discuss French Bulldog breed nutritional needs, preventive care, and schedule their vaccinations! Thanks to their adorable looks, French Bulldogs receive a lot of affection from their humans. Basic Obedience and Tricks French Bulldogs are fun and easy-to-train breed! However, some Frenchie parents may find bouts of stubbornness such as refusing to take another step on a walk or not coming when called! If you start to experience this with your Frenchie puppy, try to keep them on a leash while under supervision at home to have them follow you and start to establish leadership. Since these pups love a good playtime session, teaching them some fun tricks is a great way to keep them engaged while still working on listening and following your lead! Potty Train Right Away With the right consistency and patience, all puppies can be potty trained! Some French Bulldog puppies may take a bit longer to master pottying in a specific spot so start from the very first day your puppy comes home! Pick a designated spot, start bringing your puppy there every time they have to go potty, and supervise them at home, or crate them at night to prevent accidents! As companion dogs, French Bulldogs can develop separation anxiety so establishing crate times during the day and at night will help your puppy start to feel comfortable being alone and boost their level of confidence. Set times for feeding, play, puppy training, and sleep will provide your puppy with routine and structure, encouraging good behaviors and fewer chances of your puppy developing bad habits. A daily schedule also makes certain things such as potty times far more predictable for you and helps to speed up the potty training process. Lastly, a set routine creates a well-adjusted puppy that will grow up confident, healthy, and happy! One of the best things about a daily puppy schedule is that you can establish one that aligns with your own! Teach them "Drop-It! One of the fastest and most fun! You should start training your French Bulldog puppy as soon as you get them home. Puppy brains are a lot bigger than we think — they soak up so much good information despite their young age. While blingy collars and outfits might be top of the list, there are some more sensible things you need to get your French Bulldog puppy that will help with your training. Here are my top picks for getting prepared for training your Frenchie. My favourite all-rounder is the Rapid Rewards treat pouch , it comes in many colours and looks stylish when on. The Mikki treat pouch is also good and a bit cheaper. You can go to town and choose pretty colours and designs for Frenchies! A lead — Around 2m is a good length for a lead. A training lead is a good idea as you can change the lengths of them to suit. A comfortable mat or a piece of non-slip vet bed. Treats The more smelly, the better. Our faves for Frenchies are West Paw Toppl and hollow buffalo horns for stuffing food into, and cow ears and pizzles for edible chews. Two identical toys : Excellent for swaps — your French Bulldog puppy will be super playful and enjoy the retrieving games in the Zigzag app. Originally, French Bulldogs were bred from English Bulldogs, who had a shady past as bull-baiting dogs. People enjoyed their cheerful nature and kept them as companion dogs after these awful blood sports were prohibited. When the need for these workers declined in England, their skills were still required in France, so the workers relocated, bringing their dogs with them. Relocate your training to Zigzag! When they arrived in France, they were adored by shopkeepers, butchers, and, most infamously, Les Belles de Nuit — the ladies of the night! What does this have to do with how I train my French Bulldog? Knowing the characteristics of the breed will help you better train your Frenchie puppy and understand why they behave the way they do. Here are a few things to keep in mind: Frenchies are incredibly loving and enjoy being in the spotlight. They can have a lot of energy possibly even more than a lot of energy and enjoy an active home life. Lack of stimulation WILL foster self-employment; provide them with items to rip up and pull apart to keep them out of trouble. By the way, if you leave them to it, they WILL go into your recycling and have a field day. Frenchies often think they are big dogs, thus they often do well playing with dogs larger than them. They look dashing in them too! Training your French Bulldog 4 training tips to make your stubborn French Bulldog obedient French Bulldogs display strong unwillingness for training, making exercise stressful and frustrating for the them and the human at times. While they are playful and gentle, their stubbornness is on another level compared to other dog breeds and can be challenging to train at times. There are ways of getting your Frenchie to learn to obey your commands. Here are simple strategies to train your adorable Bulldog. Breeders usually re-home their Frenchie Bulldog as early as 8 weeks old. Immediately after bringing your French Bulldog home start with potty training your puppy. Designate a special potty area and stick to it. Take your puppy every 2 hours as Frenchie puppies cant hold their needs for longer than that when they are that young. You want the dog to start learning potty manners as early as possible to prevent future problems. If you allow your Frenchie to do their needs elsewhere it will complicate matters for you later. Frenchies are extremely intelligent and will resort to their own way of doing things if not trained otherwise. Your French Bulldog needs positive Reinforcements through Verbal and Physical Rewards French Bulldogs are highly emotional and can become sad when scolded. These dogs were bred to please, so any negative feedback hits them hard. Whenever the dog does the right thing without your guidance, reward your Frenchie bountifully. Stay positive always to build a trustworthy and positive relationship. Socialize your Frenchie with other dogs You want your pup to become fully integrated with your family as quickly as possible. Start integrating the dog into your household from the day of arrival. Frenchies love noise and activity, so let them play around and explore. On the same token it is crucial that your dog socialize with other dogs early on. You want your Frenchie to be able to play and be around dogs without aggression or issues that might come later in adulthood if not properly socialized. Use the proper Frenchie training tools Frenchies are brachycephalic dogs and this predisposes them to respiratory disorders. We would never recommend a training collar for this reason. Walking a brachy breed with a collar can disrupt airflow and even make the dogs eyes pop out of their socket or potentially cause other trachea injuries. According to the Humane Society of the US it is the safest to use a harness to restrain your Frenchie. A harness allows the dog to breath freely with little or no obstructions. Our Health Harness was designed for brachycephalic dogs. It makes for a great training tool without the dangers found in common pet accessories. The Health Harness is designed with dual D rings and double zink alloy buckles to provide a safe, no-choke, no-pull walk. The front D ring makes it ideal for training dogs that like to pull, along with those that have aggression and dominance issues. If you want your pooch to have a comfortable life, a quality Frenchie harness is an excellent investment. Train your dog how to walk besides you early on to avoid frustration in the future. Even if your dog is full grown our specialty designed Health Harness can make all the difference in the world. Frenchies are one of the most popular dog breeds on the planet. Miniature yet with giant characters, these adorable pooches are playful, intelligent, yet extremely stubborn. We believe that if you follow these 4 simple tips of training your Frenchie you can lead a healthy and positive relationship with your pooch. How to deal with an aggressive and dominant Frenchie? Tips and advice We received the following email asking for our advice in regards to an aggressive and dominant French Bulldog We adopted our Frenchie ex-breeder Mom almost 5 years ago. For example: Before Dixie, our two females rarely fought. And my pug would at least occasionally let me hold her. Now she tries to jump down immediately or else my bully will attempt to jump up on whoever holds her and attack her. Dixie also often growls when being pet and loved on, whereas any other dog would eat up the attention. And she seems to hate feet. Just wondered if you had any tips or suggestions at all. When we picked Dixie up from rescue she was sweet and timid, compliant and cuddly. Hi Lorrie: From reading your question there are a few key points you already know and are pointing out in your question which I would like to re-affirm: Dixie wants to be the alpha and the boss, wants to control the environment and the situation. Whoever is not in line with how she wants them to behave she will show aggression. First and foremost I would like you to ensure there is nothing medically or physically wrong with Dixie that will make her hostile or change her in anyways. The following tips will be given on the assumption that there is nothing wrong medically and her behavior changed over time due to her taking a certain role in the household that she feels is lacking. It is important to go back to the beginning and ask in what way you introduced her to the pack. It seems like the introduction was immediate and without much adjustment time. You say that she was originally going to be your daughter's dog and that didn't work out. This fact alone gives me an insight into the situation. Since things didn't work out the way they were planned I'm sure you were a bit puzzled and that rubbed off on Dixie. It seems that when she was added to the rest of the dogs in your household that created imbalance. From Dixie point of view she has taken the role of the mom and leader in the household and whoever is out of line she "disciplines" them by putting them in their place. It also seems like you are scared of her reaction and avoid doing certain things that will upset Dixie which is not helping the problem. We have a few recommendations to help this situation and they will all start and end with the one concept of you becoming the alpha and leader of the pack. When leaving your home with a hostile Frenchie You need to be the first leaving out of the door not any of the other dogs. Open the door slightly just for you to be able to stand in the opening, exercise standing there in front of your dogs while your dogs are still in the house for 1 minute increase by 1 minute daily until your dogs understand and wait patiently for 3 minutes without trying to trip you or escape first. This exercise will be hard to do at first but your dogs will soon learn you are the boss. In time you will be able to open the door wider and wider without them trying to be out of the door first.
