Our dogs are true to their breed standard - in both conformation and in temperament often called "English" labs. Our versatile puppies are suitable as both family members and hunting companions, and we spend many weekends traveling around the country to AKC shows competing in conformation, rally, and obedience. We are a family made up of 4 adult daughters, plus mom and dad - we each have a Russford Lab or two or three in our homes, so that they can live like the spoiled pets they deserve to be. While puppies are raised at the family home in Bath, some of our adult dogs live with our daughters in different areas of New York State. We keep a small number of breeding dogs, usually between 2 and 4 adults, and we occasionally have puppies available to select homes. Our dogs have DNA, hips, elbows, hearts, and eyes tested at a minimum to prevent genetic diseases. Our puppies are raised in our home utilizing the Puppy Culture Program for rearing and socializing, and they are placed into loving pet homes on AKC limited registration. Then work with a short but loose leash in Position 2. If you are having instances where your dog jumps off a few times in a session, you should revert back to Position 1 for a while before going back to Position 2 or 3. Lagging can also be the result of increasing speed too soon in the canine treadmill training process. If lagging occurs in the first three phases of training, most likely you are moving at a pace too quick for your dog. Slow down and do intervals. Dogs need to build up stamina and build the necessary muscles to do longer workouts. Lagging can also be the result of asking too much of your dog early on. Maintaining a schedule and gradually increasing the workout will prevent lagging. Remember, not all dogs are created equal. Chew proof your home: You might need to install stair gates to restrict access to certain rooms where your prized furniture is located. You might have to move things above their height. Just put a knot in each end and wet them, then freeze them! He loved it and still just loves playing with tea towels now at nearly 2 years old. Would recommend putting the tea towel in a food bag when freezing. Be sure to monitor the toy to make sure you toss it out after your dog has chewed it enough. Bully sticks or himalayan chews. Rawhide is dangerous as they can cause digestive blockages. Bully sticks and himalaya chews are safer options that let dogs chew for a long time and get a treat out of it. Teething gel. There are some brands that make dog-safe teething gel, similar to oragel that people use on human babies. Gum Massages. Sometimes just rubbing their gums can feel good to them! They will be chewing on most anything they can get their teeth on, so keeping their environment safe for them is key. Keep them safe. Try frozen treats, they can soothe their gums. Give them chew toys. Keep them busy, both physically and mentally. Generally with pug puppies, keeping them mentally stimulated will help keep them on their best behavior as much or more than making sure they get enough exercise. Help train bite inhibition. Teething overlaps with the time period when puppies are learning about their teeth and how they can inflict pain. She is owned by the Cook family. Her parents are Molly and Pickle. She is a mini a f1b bernedoodle that weighs 20 pounds at 21 weeks. Her final weight should be in the high 30lbs range. I had no idea that a hybrid existed. My interest was peaked with the Bernedoodle, but there was the initial sticker shock for a pup. I tried to find a breeder in the US. Our family was in love with the Bernedoodle. I inquired with every US breeder that I could find. Not one was successfully breeding medium sized dogs. My search returned me to Swiss Ridge Kennels. Uli is a perfect fit for our active and loudish family. She arrived on her 8th week birthday and shipped from Ontario to Denver. The arrival day was very long for Uli, but you could not tell. The paper in her kennel was dry. When I do it again, I will fly to Sherry and bring the pup home in-cabin. All of the above breeding attributes were evident when we held Uli for the first time. He is very intelligent which is both a plus and a minus. On the plus side he was basically house trained from the time he walked in the door. We have to think very hard to remember him having an accident in the house. He was very easy to train. In each of the 3 or 4 training classes we attended he was always in the running for the best dog in the class. On the negative side if you are not consistent and develop your role as the leader of the pack you will quickly find that he starts training you. We have never had any issues of aggression towards humans or other animals since we have had him. In fact he at times can be overly friendly and become over excited when greating someone new. He is definitely a conversation piece. We have not met a person yet who in not immediately smitten by him and wants to take him home.
