Are they healthy and happy pooches or does their pale color result in health problems? Read on to learn everything you need to know about these wonderful dogs and why most of them make excellent family pets or show pooches. This is a genetic condition universal throughout the animal kingdom, but rare in dogs, affecting maybe one in every 20, The result is a pooch that has white hair and extremely pale skin. They are usually easily distinguishable from Yellow Labs that are white as they will also lack pigment in their eyes and nose. Their eyes are often a distinctive red color, though they can also be blue. Albino Labradors often develop health problems as a result of their lack of pigmentation. They are very susceptible to sun damage, which can easily result in tumors and skin cancer. Their eyes are also very sensitive to the sun and can easily become damaged. They are also often born blind or suffer from eye deformities. It can sometimes be difficult to distinguish these pups from albino dogs, but they will have normal eye color. To find a White Labrador, you will need to speak with a breeder that has chosen color as one of the traits for which they are controlling. However, it is not advisable to work with a breeder who is only or primarily controlling for color, as health and temperament are still more important features in a dog than color. Bear in mind that English Labs look different; they tend to be stockier and broader in the chest and face. They also have different personalities. They tend to be more playful and silly, but have less energy. They have become very popular dogs on the show circuit, while their silly and friendly personality makes them great family pets. It can be difficult to tell if a Lab will grow to be a true White Lab when they are a puppy, as lots of Yellow Labradors are born with a very pale coat, which gets darker as they age. Of course, while seeking out a white Yellow Labrador might be something you want, seeking out an Albino Lab or even a Leucistic Lab is not advisable because of the related health conditions. But they are still extremely intelligent — the difference is only likely to be significant for Lab owners aspiring to take part in competitive field trials at a high level. Are white Labrador puppies healthy? White Labrador puppy health is comparable to yellow Lab health. They usually live for between 10 and 14 years. Their overall average life expectancy is 12 years, and most long lived dogs reach about 16 years old. This is comparable to black Labs, and slightly higher than for chocolate Labs. It is caused by a gene which switches off coloring. Albino Labs will have white hair or fur, and pale skin. They may also have red eyes, although very pale blue eyes can also be seen in some albinos when some pigmentation remains. True albinism in dogs is rare, and it is not a desirable trait as unfortunately it comes with health problems. Albino Lab Health Albino Labs can suffer from sensitive skin. This is an issue that leaves them particularly vulnerable to sun and heat damage. Not only can an albino Lab be easily sunburnt, the sun can also damage his eyes. This vulnerability can make these dogs prone to tumors and skin cancer. Many Albino dogs are born blind, or suffer from eye deformities. Fortunately, a white Lab is almost always not actually an albino Lab. It is actually just a very pale version of a yellow Labrador. White Labrador Retrievers will have pigmented noses and dark eyes, as well as distinctive white fur. Their fur will almost always contain touches of cream or yellow, especially around the ears. A white Lab puppy will often have yellow ears. Finding a White Labrador Puppy White Lab puppies will come from parents who have the genes for yellow coat color, and who have been selectively bred to have the palest version of this color. With their bold and sturdy nature Akita-like nature, they would perceive the impending dangers to their owner and his family. Just like the akitas like to take charge, which, in turn, came down from their wolf ancestry, aki-poos might as well be protective of their families, making them a good watch and guard dog. They are lively, easygoing and playful, and would spend a good play time with children, and with the fellow pets in its family, especially when properly socialized. However, like the Akitas, they might not always be very comfortable with younger kids, especially if not raised together. Care Exercise Taking them out for a daily half-an-hour walk or jog is important. The Akipoo, with its inherent herding and hunting instincts, need these activities to burn its energy and stay mentally healthy. Grooming With a moderately long and dense coat, the akipoos need a frequent brushing at least thrice to four times a week. Health Problems Generally a healthy cross breed. But some individuals can develop issues related to dysplasia. Training Begin teaching your pup when they are between 8 and 12 weeks old, since it is then that they are most receptive to basic commands. Train them to hold patience and under no circumstances should they be allowed to show dominance. Eat before your aki-poo, and let it wait. Train your aki poo to socialize and be tolerant with younger kids. Kids often feel gravitated towards pups. Give them the snacks to offer to your puppy, or ask one or two of them to lightly give an itch or two. If you discover your puppy has a tendency to bark, do not yell at it to make it stop. Since, this might sound like you are barking with it. Akipoos often inherit the hunting and herding instincts from their Akita parents, and hence, they would easily pickup game tricks like fetching, swimming, tugging, etc. Diet and Feeding Being almost the size of the Akita, a diet schedule similar to dogs of this built is recommended. Make sure your energetic dog gets lots of protein and high-energy through its daily meals. Lifespan Sociability The hybrid breed is a combination of the Akita and Poodle, both of which can be expensive breeds. This is especially true of the Standard Poodle if it comes from an award-winning line. Ensure that you use a reputable breeder so that you know exactly what you are getting and to ensure a greater chance that your puppy is healthy and well adjusted. The Akita can be aggressive and if the hybrid breed shows signs of this aggression, it is possible that the owner may put them up for adoption. As such, it is possible to find this breed in shelters, but you must take care when rehoming from a shelter. Ensure that you know as much as possible about the breed and the reasons for the dog being rehomed. This is just one way in which the breed flourishes in cold conditions. The breed does not tend to do well in hot climates, although this is tempered somewhat by combining it with the Standard Poodle. Poodles Are Extremely Intelligent The Akita is no slouch when it comes to mental acuity, but it has nothing on the Standard Poodle, which is known to be one of if not the most intelligent breeds. They are able to learn a long list of commands and can usually learn a new trick within a handful of repetitions. In fact, they will create games to relieve the boredom if they are not given enough mental stimulation. They can learn up to words, compared to the average canine vocabulary of around human words. In truth, there is no such thing as a truly hypoallergenic breed. People with dog allergies are allergic to a particular enzyme secreted by dogs, and it is commonly found in the dander of their coat. All dogs produce dander, but in varying degrees, and breeds like the Standard Poodle, that do not shed much hair, are said to be hypoallergenic because their low shedding means that they do not give off a lot of the enzyme that causes allergic reactions. This means that he could be laid-back like the Poodle or protective like the Akita. This particular pairing will create an especially intelligent dog, with high potential for trainability. Are These Dogs Good for Families? They are affectionate with those they consider to be part of their inner circle, but can be distrusting of others, and especially of strangers. Their caution around strangers makes them a good choice as a guard dog. In contrast, the Poodle is much more laid back and relaxed. They will normally get along with anybody. The Aki Poo usually gets along with most people, and will almost certainly get along with immediate family. They are generally considered good with children, although you should supervise time between your Aki-Poo and small children. It is also worth noting that the breed can be very protective of their family, so you will need to take care when children are playing. If your dog perceives friendly play as being a threat, it could lead to aggression. This will ensure that they know how to behave around others and that they understand what you expect of them. It also teaches them that new situations, new people, and new animals are not to be feared. He can also be aggressive, especially with strangers. He is not the perfect breed for all potential owners, and you should know the following information about this breed before you consider taking one into your home. The actual amount you feed will be determined by their age, size, and activity level. Active dogs require more food. Both breeds are prone to bloat, so you will need to measure the amount you give, feed over meals per day, and avoid exercise for an hour after each meal. We thought it was going to be a good thing to have two puppies from the same litter in the same home, and for the most part it was a good thing but at other times it was like hell because all they did was fight and bite each other. It would be quiet for a long time and then you hear a blood hurting cry come from one of the pups, and most of the time it was coming from Zoey. Fighting isn't the only thing we have to deal with when it comes to the pups. There is also a lot more clean up when you have more than one dog. They are puppies after all and we know that they don't have strong bladders yet, so we try to take them outside as soon as they wake up from a nap and also a hour or so after they eat a meal, but sometimes we don't always get them outside in time and they pee on the floor. This makes it a little frustrating because now we have to try and tackle three dogs while trying to clean up a mess on the floor. Yet, for the most part potty training two puppies at once is a lot easier than if we would have had to train them at separate times. We are sort of killing two birds with one stone in this instance. Meal times are a little hard as well because our older dog, Koda, is used to eating whenever she wants. We call her a grazer because we used to leave her food bowl out all day and she would just eat whenever she got hungry. We couldn't exactly do that same thing with the puppies because they need to be fed a certain amount of food each day and at specific times. So we can no longer leave Koda's food bowl out for her because the puppies will go to her bowl and eat her food when they are done with their own food. We also have to be careful with the water bowl around the puppies because all they want to do is drink water all the time and with potty training them we try not to have them drink water after 8 p. Meal time training is going to take a while to get used to and it is going to take a while before we can leave the food and water out whenever. Now I know I have told you some of the hard times when it comes to having two puppies in the house but don't get me wrong there are some really good times as well. One of my favorite things since having the puppies in the house is that at night our older dog, Koda, actually sleeps in my room which is not normal for her because she normally sleeps in my parents' bed. I like having Koda in my room at night. I like the fact that I can reach over and pet her and know that I have someone with me at night. I also love all of the cute pictures that I have been able to take because of these two adorable puppies. They have also just given us more joy in our lives and have given us something to play with in our free time. I also like that they love to snuggle, at least at this point in their lives. Zoey is a bigger snuggler than her sister, Maggie but that is okay because snuggling isn't for everyone. There have been ups and downs to having two puppies in one house at one time, but I don't think we would change anything.
