how many puppies does an english bulldog have
Male vs. Female Golden Retriever Size This is the least subjective difference in this list. As far as where each dog falls in this range, that will depend heavily on the parents at least for height. Weight will not only depend on the dog and their parents, but also how much you feed and exercise them. Since they mature slower, male Goldens will act like puppies for longer than female Goldens. My Golden, Oliver, just turned three years old and he still acts like a wild, goofy puppy. Which leads us to the next point… Male vs. Female Golden Retriever Personalities This is probably the most subjective trait on this list. Females are more independent, dominant over other dogs, stubborn, and protective. Females are also often more caring and in tune with your emotions than males. In addition to genetics affecting their personalities, another thing that can affect their personalities is their past. We fostered a 9-year-old female Golden for a month and she was certainly more dominant and protective than our boy, but she was not independent at all. However, once your male Golden gets neutered , this will slow down a lot more on this later. Click here to download the potty training cheat sheet to make potty training much easier! They were originally bred to hunt birds back in the s, so if they barked, they would scare the birds off. However, there are a few things you should know when it comes to Goldens and barking. Males have louder, deeper barks than females because of their bigger size. In fact, Charlie, a male Golden Retriever from Australia, owns the world record for loudest bark. But on the other hand, females often bark more than males. This is due to them usually being more protective more on this later. Female Golden Retriever Humping Yes, we all know that males hump. But did you know that female Goldens hump, too? Both males and females hump because of sexual urges, displaying dominance, playing, and other reasons. Neutering or spaying will help decrease it, but expect to deal with humping no matter which gender you get. And this takes us to the next difference… Male vs. Spaying or neutering your dog is a complicated question. Your decision will depend on your dog, your lifestyle, their gender, and even your culture I know that sounds weird, but this article will explain why. Again, talk to your vet to decide when the time is right for your pup. And for reference, Labradors are the seventh smartest dog breed. This could be because they mature faster or are less mischievous, or maybe they actually tend to be smarter. But just like all of the traits in this list, it really depends on the individual dog. Male vs. Female Golden Retriever Key Difference 2: Personality Traits and Demeanor Male and female Golden Retrievers share many of the same personality traits , like friendliness and gentle nature. Some owners report that males and females tend to have different personality traits. However, many of these reports are anecdotal, rather than proven. Some owners believe that their male Goldens tend to be far more attached to members of the family, while female Goldens are more independent. A male Golden might be more likely to stay glued at your hip, eager to please you and earn your affection. While female Goldens do get attached and want to please you, they might not be as clingy as their male counterparts. This is not to say that female Goldens are not affectionate. While all Goldens are susceptible to these conditions, female Goldens come with their unique health concerns in addition to those experienced by the breed. For example, unspayed female Goldens have an increased risk of conditions like hip dysplasia. Improvements in screening and careful breeding have been lowering the rates of this condition in recent years. Females are also more likely to develop ocular myasthenia and adrenocortical insufficiency. Overall, male and female Goldens have the same life expectancy, reaching anywhere between 10 and 12 years. In some cases, both male and female Golden Retrievers can even live between 14 and 15 years. While all Goldens are highly intelligent, some puppy owners report that their female Goldens seem to pick up concepts slightly quicker than males, making them more adept at associating prompts and actions. This may lead to the assumption that females are easier to train. Goldens can often correctly respond to commands starting as young as 12 weeks old, whether they are male or female. Working with an experienced professional who can show you positive training methods can help make things like obedience training much easier, no matter whether you have a male Golden puppy or a female one. Male vs Female Golden Retriever Key Difference 6: Family Compatibility While Golden Retrievers make great family pets, there are a few things about the two genders that may make you choose one over the other for your household. Since female Goldens are sometimes reported to have calmer dispositions, they may be a nice choice for families that include children or seniors. Female Goldens are sometimes believed to be more careful and observant around small children, whereas male Goldens might be more carefree and playful. Due to their larger size, a male Golden Retriever might be able to knock children or senior adults over if they get hyper. Goldens of either gender are remarkably friendly, but this energetic spirit could cause injury to certain family members who cannot handle the size of a medium-to-large breed dog. Goldens are an ideal match for young couples who love a lot of activity. Golden retrievers are friendly, trusting, and kind dogs that make wonderful family pets and companions. However, there are subtle differences between males and females that you should consider before bringing a puppy home. In this article, I will tell you everything there is to know about golden retriever gals and help you decide whether a female is a right choice for your family! Female Golden Retriever Appearance A fully grown golden retriever is a medium to large-size dog with an athletic build. But while both males and females have the same build and appearance, there are subtle differences between the two genders. If you compare the two, you will notice that the biggest difference between male vs. An average female is generally between .Male golden retrievers, on the other hand, generally weigh from 65 to 75 pounds and are between 23 and 24 inches tall at the shoulder. Besides being smaller than their male counterparts, females are also lighter. You will notice too that female dogs have a slightly more delicate appearance and a narrower head and muzzle. The coat can be straight or wavy, and consists of a firm and resilient topcoat and a soft, dense undercoat. Male goldens have a naturally thick and prominent ruff around the neck, and heavy feathering on the front of the chest, back of the thighs, and tail. Female goldens, on the other hand, have a slightly shorter coat and less pronounced mane and feathering. Golden Retriever Girl Temperament A lot of new owners ask whether there is any difference between male vs. You may have heard that male goldens are more affectionate, or that females are calmer or easier to train. There is no evidence that gender plays any role in determining the temperament and personality of any dog. As a breed, golden retrievers are people-oriented, active, intelligent, and highly trainable dogs with amazing working skills. Both male and female dogs are bred to possess the same temperamental traits, which make them a great choice for first-time owners and families with children. Still, you may come across an extremely affectionate female and others that are more independent, but the same can be said for male goldens. Ultimately, regardless of their gender, all golden retrievers are individuals that can exhibit unique personality traits. Due to this, training female puppies tends to be easier, and they generally learn commands more quickly than males. However, with positive reinforcement training and consistency, both males and females show the same level of obedience when they are adults. Are They Healthy? Overall, goldens are a generally healthy breed but are like all other purebred dogs in that they are prone to certain health problems. Female goldens are more likely to develop adrenocortical insufficiency and extraocular myositis than males. However, they are less likely to suffer from idiopathic epilepsy than male golden retrievers. Furthermore, unspayed female dogs are at higher risk of developing hip dysplasia, a uterine infection called pyometra, and mammary tumors. Golden retrievers have an average lifespan of 10 to 12 years. However, many can live shorter or longer depending on the level of care they receive during their lives. Female goldens have a slightly longer average lifespan of .Caring for your dog means that you will have to maintain every part of her body in pristine condition. Golden retrievers have a long, dense coat that sheds moderately all year round and goes through a heavy shed during spring and fall. You will have to brush your golden girl three or four times a week to keep her coat clean and prevent mats and tangles from forming. Goldens have floppy ears, which means that dirt and moisture easily get trapped inside, which can lead to painful ear infections.

After a mini goldendoodle became part of our lives, we knew we had to be a part of the doodle world. We have searched long and hard for the perfect dogs and are so excited to introduce you to our Bernedoodles. Our dogs are members of our family and we can't wait to help you find a new member for yours. We believe in bringing you the best dogs that are healthy, loving, loyal and family oriented. Specializing In: Currently we are specializing in traditional tri, phantom tri and parti tri colored F1 and F1b Standard and Mini Bernedoodles. Bernedoodles combine the athleticism and intelligence of the Standard Poodle with the calm, laid back and affectionate nature of the Bernese Mountain Dog. With good breeding, the resulting puppies are beautiful, playful, affectionate, loyal, sweet and sometime quite comical. They are low to no shedding and tend to be allergy friendly. Full grown, our Standard Bernedoodles will weigh between between 80 lbs. Our Miniature Pups will weigh between lbs. My Bernedoodles are usually black, brown and white in a vaiety of color patters. I am also looking at adding a blue Merle to my pups. I love all Bernedoodle colors and work hard to breed puppies that are beautiful and have great temperaments. Some can have the taller but more slight build of the poodle, others have the stockier build of the Bernese. Their coats come in a variety of styles as well. Most Bernedoodles have a wavy coat, which are low to no shedding. Some can also have a curlier coat more like the poodle. Generally, the curlier the coat the less likely it is to shed. With little to no shedding, Bernedoodle coats can get matted. They need to be brushed regularly and clipped every few months. The F1 cross is considered the healthiest, as the parents have the least likelihood of contributing genes for common inheritable diseases. F1b puppies are the most likely to be non-shedding and allergy-friendly. I currently do not breed F2 Bernedoodles. They are all about people and are happiest when they're spending time with their families: playing, cuddling, and making us laugh. The puppies are raised in our home, being snuggled daily by our children, and come with a 12 month genetic health guarantee. Bernedoodles come in a variety of sizes and colors. Color is heavily determined by the Poodle parent and what colors are in its pedigree. Their colors can be pure black, black and white, black and brown or the tri-color look that the Bernese has of brown, sable, brindle, chocolate and phantom. There are typically three types of coat. The curlier the coat the less it will shed. Most Bernedoodles have the wavy type coat that is low- to non-shedding. Straight Coat: Like the Bernese coat, it may have a slight wave to it. This coat will shed, less than a Bernese, but noticeably. It is rare to see a Bernedoodle with a straighter coat, however, the straighter the coat, the more it will shed. This type of coat is minimal- to non-shedding. Curly Coat: This is the most similar to the Poodle coat and should not shed. The curlier the coat, the less it will shed. Since most Bernedoodles shed little, they need to be brushed regularly to prevent matting For lower maintenance, you can have their hair clipped every few months, depending on the desired look. This can be done professionally or you can learn to do it yourself. Brushing your bernedoodle will make shedding less noticeable. Puppies should only be taken to the groomer after it has had its full set of vaccines. They should be taken as soon as you can, to get them use to the groomers and the process of being bathed, ears cleaned and nails clipped, or if you choose to do this yourself. There are no guarantees what type of coat a Bernedoodle will have. Bernedoodles are not fully hypoallergenic but do tend to be allergy-friendly. Most people allergic to the dog dander, usually tend to be fine with a Bernedoodle. However, this is not a guarantee. An F1B does tend to be even more 'allergy friendly'. It really depends on what size the Parents are in its pedigree. We can only estimate weights according to parents size. Females do tend to be smaller than males. These are only ranges and a puppy can be out of the expected range when crossing two different breeds. The Standard Bernedoodle is bs in weight and inches in height. The Mini is lbs in weight and inches in height. The Tiny is lbs and inches in height. Use tab to navigate through the menu items. What IS a Bernedoodle? These are NOT mutts which implies a breeding between unknown breeds or not carefully planned. These are designer breeds that are bred for a specific purpose. We produce an incredible bernedoodle that displays the qualities of both our champion line Standard Poodles and the Bernese Mountain Dog pedigrees. The advantage of a carefully planned mixed breed is that you get the added advantage of a phenomenon called "hybrid vigor". This process shuffles new combinations of genes that helps to increase longevity and decrease the usual ailments that impact many purebred dogs such as various forms of inherited types of cancer not all cancers have a genetic basis such as small and large cell lymphoma which is usually a result from environmental exposure. The bernedoodles are super healthy and are not as prone to the same issues that Bernese mountain dogs and standard poodles are. As a result, you have a family member for a lot longer and that will live a vibrant and healthy life if properly cared for diet, exercise, and family integration are all important components toward helping the dog to live a long happy life with you.You can see the links above about the qualities of Standard Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs as both are extraordinary breeds in their own right and for many, purebreds of these may be a great option as well. We prefer the Bernedoodle as they get the best of both breeds, incredibly loyal, goofy, smart, playful, intelligent, and has one of the best dog personalities we have seen in a family dog. The Premier F1 Standard Bernedoodle is a low- to mostly nonshedding we use standard poodles that do not carry the improper coat alleles and Bernese mountain dogs that have thick wavy curly coats. If you want a guarantee on non shedding, then you should try to select an F1b or F1bb bernedoodle. Both look amazingly similar to the F1 standard bernedoodles but maybe a little smaller. We will produce about 2 F1b and F1bb standard bernedoodle litters per year for those wanting a more curly coat in their bernedoodles. Premier Bernedoodles love to be with the family and do not do well in enviroments of isolation. Wherever the family is, that's right where they want to be. They are stunning dogs, and you'll likely get alot of attention and people asking you what kind of dog you have. They are beautiful and along with their incredibly gentle personalities, you will have an absolutely stunning dog. They are a perfect companion dog that love to go on walks through the city or hikes in the woods or mountains or a swim at the beach. They love it all and will be at your side the entire time. They don't tend to wander away as they prefer to be with you. They equally love just hanging out with you on the couch watching your favorite movie or watching you reading a book. They really love it all as long as you're a part of it. They are so loyal to the family. Bernedoodle puppies do have energy like most puppies, and this will continue thru about years of age at which time they really mellow out. They are not nervous nor hyper but will need some off leash time where they can really stretch their legs and run. The old motto "a tired puppy is a good puppy" always prevails! Just make sure they have a lot of fresh water and a cool spot to cool off afterward. Due to the the recombination and shuffling of new genetic variations, they do show some variation in their coloration however they also all have a common morphology that tells you it's a bernedoodle. Although we do take deposits on a first come, first pick basis, we will know the puppies well, their personalities, and can help select a puppy that best fits your lifestyle and what you are looking for. We only use Standard Poodles and Bernese Mountain Dogs to produce our Premier Bernedoodles so that any dog we accept into our Premier Bernedoodle program have passed stringent health tests, display family oriented personalities, and exhibit the best of conformation so that our bernedoodles are absolutely beautiful. Be very cautious when purchasing a purebred or bernedoodle without doing your due diligence as the puppies will always be cute, but will exhibit the personalities of the bloodline used later in life. Therefore, use a reptutable breeder that has invested in the dogs they use for their breeding programs and that raise them as their own family members. They should be able to produce their pedigrees as well, and should have both parents on site so you can see how they react to you. We are very Type A when it comes to the quality of dogs which makes it more difficult to give referrals. We are always going to be biased and believe that the wait for a Premier Bernedoodle is worth it and you'll be very happy you did! Also you can visit your local humane society and help rescue a dog at the shelter. If you have young kids be sure to get a younger dog from the shelter that can adapt to your family. But if you're looking for a unique new family member, a Premier Bernedoodle will be a true delight. Colors and Fur Our Premier Bernedoodles will be traditional tri-color much like a Bernese Mountain Dog , abstract tricolor similar to a traditional tricolor with less white in the face , sable similar to a traditional tri-color but has more reddish-browns due to the poodle genetics we use , phantom, merle, merle tricolor, or bi-colored brown and white, black and white, or shades thereof. Our F1b's will consist of black and whites, traditional tricolors, abstract tricolors, and lots of variable brown and reddish brown and whites. Color never reflects temperament and personality so usually most people don't really care too much what color they are. They are all really beautiful. Although there's variation due to the hybrid vigor present as a result of the recombination of genes in many arrays, there is definitely a bernedoodle appearance that is fairly consistent. If you let the hair grow, they will look like big shaggy dogs that you can't help but to give a big hug to. And they enjoy every minute of it! Our Premier Bernedoodles will tend to have wavy curly coats due to the coat types we require in our bernese mountain dogs which helps to minimize or eliminate shedding. We do make sure that our standard poodles do not carry the genetic marker known as the "Improper Coat" allele or IC for short. Wavy curly coats do require a little more grooming as compared to straight, but many, straight coats shed more.Although they are considered to be large, they don't act like a large dog in the house. They are generally very careful and calm natured as adults however they do have some puppy-fun energy thru the puppyhood stages and thru 3 years of age. They love people and other pets! We do thorough genetic testing of our adults that we use in our breeding program to assure that you are purchasing the healthiest of bernedoodle puppies. Our Bernese mountain dogs come from very long-lived blood lines in Western Europe and these longer lifespans is one of the many reasons we obtain our Berners from several specific populations known for their longevity. Obviously we can't guarantee lifespan as there are many variables outside of our control not to mention, environment, stress, climate, food, etc. But track record seems to show a longer lifespan. What's the Difference? An F1b is an F1 standard Bernedoodle backcrossed to a standard poodle or could be a backcross to a Bernese mountain dog but we generally use the poodle as the backcross. An F1bb is an F1b standard Bernedoodle backcrossed to a standard poodle. Behaviorally they are all very similar with the F1b and F1bb's being slightly smaller than our F1 standards and tend to have slightly curlier coats to a tight wave. If you're looking for a smaller standard Bernedoodle these would be a great option. Pictures are posted below with the other pictures. We continue to get lots of praise from those that have purchased our F1b and F1bb standard bernedoodles. Is the Bernedoodle for Everybody? I would like to think so, but if you do not plan on being with your bernedoodle and keeping it with you, in your home, as part of your home, this is definitely not the dog for you. They thrive on being with the family and not isolated we believe this is the case for all dogs, and especially bernedoodles. Any of our puppies kept in a permanent kennel situation, on a tether, or the like, will violate the terms and conditions of our puppy contract and will have to render the puppy or dog back to Premier Doodles see puppy contract in link above. We definitely support crate training, but these dogs are not meant to live their life in a crate nor kennel! If you want a pet that prefers to be in isolation, you may want to consider a nonsocial pet perhaps a Betta fish! Yes we have done a lot of the hard work the first 8 weeks as we do extensive early neurological stimulation bio-sensor and Puppy Culture program, along with starting crate training and housebreaking, BUT, they are puppies and will need your undivided attention for the next weeks as they work towards being completely housebroken and earning more privileges. They have been communicating with their siblings for the past 8 weeks using their mouth. During their normal daily interactions, you will occasionally hear a loud "yelp" in response to one biting another too hard. This yelp usually ends the mouthing behavior. Now puppies have fur and people generally do not. When you bring your bernedoodle home, they will likely display some degree of mouthing behavior toward their human family. This will usually stop this behavior. We then redirect their desire to mouth to something more appropriate like a chew toy and after a few seconds of cooperating we praise them. The good news.We have a Puppy Guide under our tab "Puppy Central" on how to unpack this process so that you can have success. If you put them time in early, they will have this knocked out in a few days. The rule of thumb is to get them outside ALOT.Be sure to purchase two Midwest XL crates can get from our Puppy Store , one for the back door and one next to your bed. The power of meiosis specialized cell division event that occurs in the reproductive organs, ovaries for females and testes for males and crossing over assures that each offspring will be diverse and different and this difference will be noticeable in color and a little bit in behavior. All will be superior, but some will be more playful and others less so, some will mouth more than others, etc. Available Puppies.Check out our "Available Puppies" tab at the top to find out how to get onto our Master List for a future puppy! Our Bernedoodles are from excellent bloodlines and all Pedigree information traces back to their AKC lineage. Our Dams and Sires have obtained extensive health clearances prior to being bred. These dogs will have a higher success rate for non-shedding, and are recommended for families with allergies. F1 Bernedoodles all have loose wavy coats that are typically minimal to light shedding, while F1B Bernedoodles coats can be loose wavy just like the F1 or curly and there are both coat types within the F1B litter. The F1B Bernedoodle is typically minimal to non-shedding. The coat of a Bernedoodle can vary from straight, loose wavy or curly. An F1 Bernedoodle will have a loose wavy coat, while an F1B Bernedoodle litter has both curly and loose wavy coats within the litter. The coat colors of Bernedoodles can vary based on the color genetics of the parents. We will also have Parti Bernedoodles. Daily walks are a must if you don't have a safely enclosed area for them to run freely. The Bernedoodle can be independent and does great being with family engaging in play, then happily laying on their own with a toy. It is still unknown how long Bernedoodles will live as it is a newer cross. The expected lifespan is hoped to be years. As with any dog, socialization and training should start while the dog is still a puppy and continue throughout its life. Look for a puppy kindergarten class locally or join the AKC S. Puppy Program , training based on positive techniques. You do not have to be an AKC purebred puppy to participate in their S. Puppy Program. Find a class here. This is a great place to start socializing and training. A well-socialized, well-trained Bernedoodle makes a wonderful family companion. Early socialization and training establishes those lifetime bonds between the family and puppy as these programs teach you how to communicate with your new puppy and get started on the right foot. Our Generations of Bernedoodles Depending on the parent dogs, there are many genetic variations of Bernedoodles. We have Standard, Miniature, and Tiny Bernedoodles. Our Bernedoodles come in three breed sizes - Standard, Miniature, and Tiny. Our F1 Standard Bernedoodles will usually stand inches at the shoulder and weigh or more pounds. Most standard Bernedoodles are in the pound range. Females are usually smaller than males. Our F1 Mini Bernedoodles usually stand between 17 and 22 inches tall and weigh anywhere from 25 to 65 pounds with most of them weighing lbs. Again females tend to be smaller than males. They are sized similar to our F1 Minis. F1B Tiny Bernedoodles usually stand between 12 and 17 inches tall and weigh between 15 and 25 pounds. Again, these puppies tend to be more hypoallergenic and usually less shedding than the F1 Bernedoodles. Differences between male and female Bernedoodles. We are often asked if there is a difference between boys' and girls' personality. Our experience is that there is a lot more difference from puppy to puppy in a litter even in the same gender than there is between boys and girls. Males might tend to be more affectionate and goofy, but also a bit more stubborn while females can be more independent but easier to train and less stubborn. The differences are actually quite subtle, and both males and females make absolutely amazing pets. Temperament is more important than gender when looking for the puppy that is the right fit for you. Male Bernedoodles tend to be larger than females, but beyond that there is not a major difference between the genders. Our Bernedoodles have various coat colors and types. Coat colors are generally a combination of both of the parents' breeds. Almost all of our F1 puppies have the beautiful tri-colored markings of the Bernese. This tri-colored coat is a less common variation and is generally the most sought after. You will see the most variation in color in our F1b puppies. One of the huge attractions to the bernedoodle is its hypoallergenic coat. Bernedoodle coats can vary in thickness, consistency, and color. In an F1 first generation breeding, you might get a puppy with a coat that looks more similar to a Poodle and get another puppy with a coat more like a Bernese Sometimes even within the same litter. While most of our bernedoodles have minimal to no shedding, a curly, Poodle-type coat will shed less than the one that is more straight, like the Bernese Mountain Dog. We encourage a more curly coat for people that have allergy issues. If you have intense allergies you should consider a curlier coated F1 or an F1B puppy. Bernedoodle coats are generally put into three main categories - Curly, Wavy, and Straight. Please note when looking at the examples below that the appearance of our Bernedoodles is greatly affected by whether they are groomed and how short the coats are if groomed. Be sure to consider this when looking at the pictures. The curls on this coat are usually tight with a soft texture much like what you would see on a Poodle. Curly coats may still shed, but they shed the hair upon themselves rather than on your floor. Unfortunately, this shedding upon themselves is what makes it necessary for them to be brushed daily and trimmed frequently. The curly coated Bernedoodle is usually the most suitable for owners who have an allergy to dog dander. This coat is very free-flowing and often has a lightly kinked or wavy appearance. Most people with allergies to dog dander i. Note, if you are unsure if this coat type will be fine for you, we suggest that you get further allergy testing done as well as take some time to interact with doodles and their humans in your area before purchasing a puppy. Be sure to consider this when looking at any pictures. Here is an example of the same dog with the pictures taken before and after a haircut. How you groom your dog is a big part of what gives them the look they have. Due to their well-balanced temperament and high trainability, our Bernedoodles are often trained as therapy dogs. They are a really excellent fit for the training regimen and tend to enjoy having a job to do. As a therapy dog, they get lots of human interaction, which they thrive on. Plus, it's a job that allows their cuddly and affectionate personality to shine! Our Bernedoodles do well in apartments. Both Standard and Min Bernedoodles will adapt well to apartment living. Their Bernese Mountain Dog mom is a working breed however, so they need to get plenty of exercise and attention to remain happy and healthy. They don't like to be left alone for long periods of time because they love human interaction, but are usually fine when left alone for shorter periods of time. They are a true companion dog. One of the reasons our Bernedoodles do so well as therapy dogs is that they are true companion dogs. They are very intelligent and are often described as having a happy-go-lucky, goofy, and charming temperament. They are happiest when spending time with their families. Bernedoodles love human interaction, affection, and attention and enjoy playtime and cuddle-time equally. Our Bernedoodles are excellent around children and the elderly. They are a dog who simply wants to love and be loved in return, which makes them a fantastic companion for single owners and for families. Pure-breed black German shepherd puppies have the right temperament to make engaging family pets. Leave them alone or confined. These pups will grow mischievous and become high-strung. As the name implies, they originated in Germany in the late s. As part of the Herding Group, German Shepherds were used for livestock, herding, and guarding sheep. Back then, GSDs were not considered pets or companions but servants of farmers. Although German Shepherds weren't considered household pets, their owners did provide proper food, protection, and shelter. In the early s, a German cavalry officer named Captain Max Von Stephanitz made it his mission to create an ideal German herder. He co-founded the world's first club devoted to German Shepherds. Von spent 35 years promoting and refining the wonderful breed. People finally noticed how strong, smart, and obedient German Shepherds are. So now the military employs them as working dogs. Their intelligence, strength, speed, obedience, agility, and keen sense of smell make them perfect for the job. German Shepherds are also very versatile and make great companions. Their impressive and lovable personalities soon drew the attention of other countries. German Shepherd dog was brought to the United States in the early s, and American breeders began to develop their own lines of the breed. The American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd in , and the species has been one of the most popular dog breeds in the United States ever since. Today, GSDs are not only considered one of the most favorite household pets. The versatility and outstanding characteristics make German Shepherds beautiful pets, companions, and protectors. Due to the breed's reputation for being loyal, courageous, and easy to train, German Shepherds are used as police or military dogs. Personality Know the personality and temperament of your German Shepherd Dog German Shepherds are well-known for their smartness, confidence, intelligence, loyalty, and courageous personalities. As household pets, German Shepherd dogs get along with their owners and other members of the family. However, they do not get along with strangers easily, but with time, they warm up to anyone who tries to be friendly with them. The German Shepherd dog breed is distinguished for courage, loyalty, and the ability to maintain training. Because German Shepherds have strong guardian instincts, they tend to be loyal and protective of their owners and children. Given their strong guardian instincts, inadequate training and poor socialization can make them aggressive toward strangers. Their over-protective and aggressive behaviors can put any owner at risk. Therefore, GSDs should be carefully socialized with proper training from a very young age. The best thing about GSDs is that they are intelligent. German Shepherd dogs are usually active and like to be occupied with an activity. They do well with people who allow them to stay active. They need an ample amount of exercise daily to retain their activeness. They should be continually exposed to supervision during the training period. Most importantly, your German Shepherd should not be confined to a kennel or backyard alone, as GSDs like to be around their loved ones. Keeping them tied up alone will make them lonely and aggressive. A German Shepherd dog should be purchased from a good and reputed breeder. We do not hand over any puppy or dog without having them vet-checked. Health Health is wealth, even for your German Shepherd dog. As a dog lover, when you welcome a German Shepherd puppy into your family, they become an integral part of your life. Besides training your dog, it is best to focus on your pet's wellness. You must do everything you need to optimize your pet's health and happiness. Most German Shepherds are usually healthy dogs if purchased from a good breeder. A responsible breeder will screen breeding stock to check on health conditions such as elbow dysplasia, canine hip dysplasia, degenerative myelopathy, etc. The German Shepherd Dog has an average lifespan of 9 to 13 years. Male, Adult German Shepherd weighs around lbs. Female, Adult German Shepherd weighs around lbs. They can run 30 mph Maximum Running. Moreover, German Shepherds are prone to experience problems like bloat, skin allergies, gastric torsion, and abdomen swelling. German Shepherds experience these conditions. German Shepherds must be taken to the vet, like most other dogs, for routine health checkups. A regular checkup allows you to track your pet's health condition. Owners should be aware of all the GSDs' health-related symptoms to take care of them by taking their dogs to the vet when any symptom occurs. Besides, if you want to buy a healthy pet, you must contact a good breeder. We do everything a good breeder would do to deliver a healthy puppy to a customer. We also discuss health problems in the genetics of a puppy or dog. Grooming The importance of grooming your German Shepherd dog The adorable appearance of the German Shepherd dog is known to all. They are very adorable and majestic to look at. GSDs usually shed twice a year. Proper grooming helps in controlling shedding and keeps the coat nice. They only need a quick brushing a few times a week. A thorough brush helps to remove loose hairs from their coat and keep the fur nice and shiny. During the shedding time, frequent brushing is required to prevent the mess caused by heavy shedding. Giving the occasional bath should suffice to help them clean and smell nice. Your dog can end up hurting you unintentionally if the nails are too long. Invest in quality dog grooming products to ensure proper and safe grooming. Thus, do not forget to groom your precious German Shepherd dog. Finding How to find the right German Shepherd Breeders? The German Shepherd is one of the most popular dog breeds in the U. S and all over the world. GSDs have love and affection towards their owners, whether a puppy, a young dog, or an adult dog. Find and choose a good breeder to find the right German Shepherd puppy. Goldendoodles for sale in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas Contact Us. We specialize in breeding Mini Goldendoodles as well as a few other breeds. We also have partnered up with several other high quality breeders that raise mini goldendoodle pups that meet our strict genetic criteria and testing. So we usually have a good selection of very high quality puppies. View Our Available Puppies! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. So if you live near Bethel Park Pennsylvania and are looking for a healthy and beautiful Mini Goldendoodle puppy then checkout our available pups now by Clicking Here. Below are some Mini Goldendoodle Pups that have been adopted! Pin Trying to find a good Goldendoodle breeder feels a lot like looking for a needle in a haystack. Health Puppy parents are chosen based on their temperaments and looks. Each momma dog is happy and easy-going, and each papa dog has a great personality. Puppies go to their new homes fully de-wormed and up to date on their first vaccinations. Raising Puppies Yankee Doodles and Poodles puppies are handled daily. They are raised in the home and get to socialize with children and pets. Before you take your puppy home, he or she will be mostly crate-trained, know some basic commands, and have been professionally groomed. Reviews Yankee Doodles and Poodles has 4. I am honestly not sure that anybody that gave a negative review even got a puppy from here. The process from start to finish was seamless. Great communication and very attentive to every need. Identifying the Purpose of Dog Incubators A Controlled Environment for Newborn Puppies Dog incubators, also known as puppy incubators, play a crucial role in providing a controlled, warm environment for newborn puppies. Just like human infants, newborn pups are vulnerable and require special care to ensure their survival. It maintains an optimal temperature range that mimics the warmth provided by a mother dog. Role in Reducing Mortality Rates Speaking of fatalities, did you know that dog incubators significantly reduce mortality rates among neonatal puppies? Without this stability, puppies can quickly become cold-stressed leading to serious health complications or even death. Consider this scenario: Your furry friend has just had surgery and needs a safe space to recover. A dog incubator provides that space by maintaining stable environmental conditions conducive to healing. Similarly, if your pup falls ill with ailments such as hypothermia or pneumonia, they may struggle to maintain their body temperature independently. An incubator becomes an essential tool in providing them with the necessary warmth while monitoring their condition closely. Features and Benefits of Puppy Incubators Key Features Puppy incubators, or as some folks call them, dog incubators, are packed with features that make them essential for the survival and growth of newborn pups. Temperature Control: These contraptions provide an optimal temperature environment for puppies. You know how you feel all cozy and warm in your bed during winters? Humidity Regulation: Just like us humans, dogs need a certain level of humidity to thrive. Too dry or too humid can mess up their health. An incubator keeps the humidity just right. Oxygen Supply: Some pups might need extra oxygen supply due to health issues. A dog incubator ensures they get the oxygen they need without any hassle. Hygiene Maintenance: Puppies are prone to infections and diseases. An incubator helps maintain hygiene by providing a clean environment free from germs and bacteria. Faster Recovery Times: If a pup is sick or weak, an incubator provides the perfect environment for it to recover faster. Reduced Stress for Mother Dogs: Imagine being a momma dog with 6 puppies to look after! But with an incubator handling most of the care, she can relax a bit more during whelping. It does! Talk about convenience! So there ya have it folks — everything you gotta know about puppy incubators. LPF Incubator set up Efficiency Analysis of Dog Incubators Dog incubators, or concentrator units, are essential tools in canine breeding and veterinary medicine. However, their efficiency can vary widely based on several factors. Energy Consumption versus Performance Efficiency A crucial aspect to consider when evaluating dog incubators is the balance between energy consumption and performance efficiency. Some models may require a significant amount of power to maintain optimal temperatures and humidity levels, which could lead to higher electricity bills over time. Impact on Puppy Health Outcomes Another measure of dog incubator effectiveness is its impact on puppy health outcomes. An efficient unit should provide a safe and comfortable environment that promotes healthy growth and development in puppies. For instance, studies show that puppies kept in well-regulated incubators have lower rates of hypothermia and dehydration compared with those in suboptimal environments. Here are some points to consider: Purchase price: How much does the unit cost initially? Operating costs: What are the estimated monthly electricity costs? Are there any maintenance or repair costs? Performance: Does the unit consistently meet required standards for temperature and humidity control? Longevity: How long is the unit expected to last before needing replacement? Ultimately, an efficient dog incubator should offer good value for money without compromising on performance or puppy health outcomes. Remember, what works best will depend on your specific situation — from budget constraints to breed-specific requirements — so take your time reviewing different options before making a decision. Plug in the power cord and switch it on. Adjusting Temperature and Humidity This is where things can get a bit tricky. Remember to check these settings regularly — too hot or too cold could spell trouble! Safety Precautions Avoid overheating: Regularly monitor the temperature inside the incubator. Keep cords out of reach: Puppies love to chew! Cleanliness is key: Regular cleaning prevents infections. Tips on Puppy Incubator Care and Maintenance Routine Cleaning Practices The first step to ensuring your small puppy incubator care unit remains in top-notch condition is regular cleaning. Remove any leftover food, puppy feeding tubes, or waste material daily. Use a mild detergent solution to clean the interior surfaces of the unit. Rinse thoroughly to ensure no soap residue remains which could harm the newborn puppies. Regular Technical Checks Like any other electronic device, your dog incubator needs regular checks for technical issues. This ensures that the conditions inside remain optimal for newborn puppies. Check the temperature and humidity levels at least twice a day. Make sure that all moving parts fans, thermostats, doors are working smoothly. Look out for any unusual noises or smells which might indicate a problem. Longevity Tips A well-maintained dog incubator can last you many years. Here are some tips to extend its lifespan: Store it properly when not in use: Clean it thoroughly and store it in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Handle with care: Although built sturdy, rough handling can cause unnecessary wear and tear on your incubator care unit. They serve a purpose — to provide a safe and controlled environment for newborn puppies. The features and benefits? From maintaining optimal temperature to offering humidity control, these lifesavers are packed with perks. Efficiency is another feather in their cap. They do the job and they do it well. But remember, proper use is key. So there you have it! FAQs What are the key benefits of using a dog incubator? Dog incubators help maintain an optimal temperature and humidity level for newborn puppies which can significantly enhance their survival rate. How efficient are dog incubators? When used properly, dog incubators can be highly efficient in providing the right conditions needed for puppy growth and development. How should I properly use a puppy incubator? What should I know about maintaining my puppy incubator? Maintenance primarily involves regular cleaning to ensure hygiene standards are met. Also, periodic checks on its functionality will ensure its longevity. Is investing in a dog incubator worth it? If you breed dogs or have newborn pups at home, an incubator can be life-saving equipment providing them with the best start in life. It is also the top choice of rescue groups. Those in high altitude locations or that have experienced puppies with aspirated pneumonia might consider the Pro Series Oxygen Concentrator. I feel the Puppywarmer and oxygen concentrator saved the singleton as well as one of the puppies from the litter. Ken store manager — March 6, Thank you for believing in us the first time we exhibited at the Bulldog Nationals. You have made some wonderful saves. Rated 5 out of 5 Sandy Claes — March 5, I am a veterinary technician in a canine reproductive practice. We do anywhere from 2 to 7 cesarean sections a week. I personally work with the neonate care. My puppies do fantastic in this incubator. Distressed puppies, gasping puppies, premature or underdeveloped puppies. They all do fantastic. I can monitor them without removing them and the breeders feel like they are more a part of things. This is by far my absolute favorite piece of equipment our practice owns!! Thank you for the review! I truly believe that their survival chances tremendously increased by having this warmer unit because initially we were told by our Vet that their chance of survival was very slim. I am happy to announce that they are now almost 3 months old and steadily growing to catch up to their normal size brothers. We love it when our customers surprise Veterinarians. The Veterinarians love to be surprised this way, too. Incredible job saving two cleft palate pups the first time using your Puppywarmer system. Rated 5 out of 5 Lori Berroa — September 14, We purchased this puppywarmer for our animal rescue. It has been a major success in enabling us to regulate their temperature and give them oxygen in a controlled environment. We are truly happy with our purchase! Ken store manager — September 14, Thank you very much for your kind words, Lori! Helping people save puppies makes our day. Rated 5 out of 5 Amy Shaffer — September 14, We love our puppy warmer! Our repro vet Dr. Marty Greer introduced us to this amazing system in , and we bought one for our very next litter. Thank you for a wonderful system that helps gives even the smallest puppy a fighting chance. Once I had the equipment out of the delivery box and ready to set up, Ken was on the phone with me setting up all the different piece parts and it was operating in less than 30 minutes. While I had some limited success with the old, the puppy warmer has paid for itself in saving puppies with my first time use. The results are fantastic! The puppies are much happier and content and most importantly I can see what is going on from any angle. Having the oxygen concentrator is more than icing on the cake! Having both the puppy warmer and concentrator is a future Birthday party for each puppy saved! Rated 5 out of 5 jean williams — September 15, I run a rescue group for small breed moms and orphaned babies. We also do a lot of special needs babies with clefts hydro babies and many other birth defects. I am a strong believer because we had a Puppywarmer and Oxygen Concentrator we were able to save a litter of four premature tiny only 1 oz chi babies. They were so premature they had no hair looked like rats lol. Thanks to Puppywarmer they are all alive and well today! We have saved hundreds more that would have not made before we had Puppywarmers. The consistent oxygen makes a world of difference in these babies and their outcome. We have been doing this and special needs for years. But with Puppywarmer and the consistent oxygen, we are able to save babies we never could have before! Thank you Puppywarmer for your help to save the babies. But everyone in the rescue I foster for does. I hope one day I can also help save more of the cleft pups I foster. From what I have seen this product truly saves lives. And they save so many cleft babies. I purchased it on the advice of a well known reproductive veterinary clinic who uses this in their practice. I can say Ken has been wonderful with customer service and is always there to help with any questions. I am just glad to be able to have this available to me when I will need it. Rated 5 out of 5 Gina Jersey — September 22, I found out about Puppywarmer through a breeder friend of mine. It gives me so much comfort just having it. Thankfully, I have not needed it for anything major, however I put all my puppies in it once they are born for some extra warmth and oxygen. I would, and have recommend this product. Ken store manager — September 28, Thank you for the review. So often, new customers have a challenging puppy in the first or second litter. It is wonderful you get to use the system with all healthy puppies first. You will be incredibly ready if the time comes when you have a puppy at risk. Using the incubator and oxygen concentrator for the first two feedings improve feeding and processing of colostrum. We do a LOT of pediatric kitten alters and the incubator is priceless. We also use it for our exotic patients regularly. My plan is to get even more units for the local animal control to help with kittens in need! Ken store manager — September 28, We love the photos you share. It is inspiring to see a wider use for the project than we originally imagined. We think what you do is amazing! Rated 5 out of 5 B. Yee — September 28, Such a necessity in giving an advantage to a neonate in trouble. But more than that, having my Puppywarmer and Oxygen Concentrator means providing each puppy in each litter the added advantage of a precise environment to start life off at its very best. Ken store manager — September 28, This is the company we try to be. Our goal is to help you simply save puppies. Thank you! Rated 5 out of 5 Rachele — September 28, Not quite sure what I would do without my Puppywarmer,…before it, it was heating pads and Rubbermaid totes. Was the heating pad too hot? Too cold? Were the puppies staying warm enough? The peace of mind alone, that Puppywarmer brings is priceless. Running an organization for cleft palate puppies, we expect losses, but after getting our Puppywarmer, our success rate with these guys sky rocketed. Thank you Puppywarmer for helping us save many lives. Truly do NOT know how I managed for so many years without you. Ken store manager — September 28, Thank you Rachele. We have great respect for those who save cleft puppies. It says a lot about you and your level of care. Rated 5 out of 5 Dick Simon — September 28, This has been a lifesaver. .Just knowing it is here and available makes being a breeder less stressful. Thanks Ken, for all the puppies that have been saved, and all that will be. Ken store manager — We think saving puppies is a great stress reliever! Rated 5 out of 5 Vivianne Hulsey — September 28, I have not had to use mine yet but have watched my sister use hers for three litters now. The puppies are always so content in there, it gives them the perfect environment temperature and oxygen flow necessary for pups to thrive! I am looking forward to having my pups in there. Having had a gasping puppy in the past, I can only wish that I had this setup sooner to aid the pup in its recovery. I think the incubator with the oxygen concentrator combo is a great tool to help me raise my litters the best way possible, and the peace of mind is priceless. Rated 5 out of 5 Crystal Knickerbocker — December 10, This incubator has been a miracle for me and the special needs kittens I rescue. If a Mini Poodle Mix takes after their Mini Poodle parent, they will be a small dog that is affectionate, loving, and playful. Miniature Poodles are intelligent, sensitive dogs with cheerful dispositions. They tend to get along well with children, other pets, and other dogs. They even tend to be good with strangers as long as they have been properly socialized. They do tend to alert you of things, which can make them prone to barking. Working to train your dog to stop barking early on can keep this from becoming a nuisance behavior. If the other parent breed has similar traits, then you can expect a similar temperament from a Miniature Poodle Mix. You can also meet the mother in person to see what temperament she has and the behavior she is modeling for her puppies. The breeder should have started socialization and training. However, it is up to you to continue to train and socialize a puppy once you get them home to ensure they grow into a well-rounded dog. A Miniature Poodle is a highly adaptable dog that does well in apartments as well as larger homes and in most climates. Because they are so people-oriented, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. If the other parent breed is similar, then you can also expect a high adaptable Miniature Poodle Mix. The other breed in the mix is likely to have their own quirks, so you do still want to ask the breeder about them. Are mixed-breed dogs healthier than purebred dogs? Just as a mix can inherit none of the conditions common to their parent breeds, they could also inherit some combination of them or all of them. Make sure you ask about the health history of both of the parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. Miniature Poodles tend to be intelligent dogs that are eager to please and easy to train. They tend to be a good fit for owners of all experience levels. As long as the other parent breed is also a good fit for all experience levels, then you can expect a Mini Poodle Mix to be highly trainable as well. If the other parent breed is more difficult to train, then you will want to prepare for that possibility in a Miniature Poodle Mix. A mixed-breed can inherit a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is some combination of them both. If a Miniature Poodle Mix inherits the Poodle coat, it will be low-shedding, require daily brushing, and require professional grooming every weeks. Once or twice monthly nail trims keeps them from growing too long. Weekly ear checks with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. Brushing teeth daily or using an enzyme toothpaste every day in addition to cleanings at the vet as needed are ideal dental care for dogs. Although they are small, Miniature Poodles are high-energy dogs that require daily walks plus playtime and extra activity to be happy and healthy. If the other parent breed is also a high-energy breed, then you can expect a Mini Poodle Mix to also be a high-energy dog. If the other parent breed has a lower energy level, a Mini Poodle Mix could take after them, but you still want to be prepared for the potential of a high-energy dog. A Miniature Poodle is usually inches tall and weighs pounds. The other parent breed can have a big effect on this, especially if they are the mother, so you want to ask the breeder about them. Miniature Poodles generally live for years. Although the other parent breed may affect this slightly, you should be able to expect a similar life span in a Mini Poodle Mix. You have just noticed that your dog is breathing fast but hasn't been exercising or playing. Should you be concerned? Today our Davidson County vets share some of the reasons why dogs breathe fast, and when you should call the vet. Why is my dog breathing fast? Is something wrong? For you to be able to spot abnormal breathing you'll need to understand what a healthy respiratory breathing rate for your dog is. A typical healthy dog will take between 15 to 35 breaths per minute while at rest. Naturally, while exercising, your pooch will breathe much more quickly. So, anything above 40 breaths per minute while your dog is at rest is considered abnormal and certainly worth investigating. That said, it's important to understand that panting doesn't always mean that there's a problem. Panting is your pup's way of regulating their body temperature, cooling themselves down and allowing water and heat to evaporate from their upper respiratory tract, tongue, and mouth. Dogs can't sweat to cool themselves down, instead they need to breathe fast to allow air to circulate through their body. Rapid breathing helps your pup's body to get back to a normal temperature. How can I tell if my dog is breathing too fast? You may even want to do this when you are not concerned, in order to have a clear understanding of your pet's normal respiratory rate. Anything under 30 breaths per minute is considered normal, anything above 35 may be a cause for concern and is worth contacting your vet over. Your vet will have a good understanding of your dogs normal respiratory rate from previous examinations. Brachycephalic dog breeds, breeds with 'squished faces' or shortened snouts , such as Boston terriers, boxers, and pugs face a higher risk of developing breathing issues and should always be closely monitored by pet owners for signs of increased respiratory effort. Short nosed breeds aren't the only ones that can run into difficulties breathing normally. No matter which breed your dog is, fast breathing could be a sign that your pooch is suffering from an illness or injury that requires urgent veterinary care. A few potential causes of fast or heavy breathing in dogs include: Asthma Lung Diseases such as cancer Exercise. By Beth Satterfield Between puppy-loving kisses and peaceful naps, you might notice that your Goldendoodle seems to be breathing fast, and you might be able to even hear it. Is this typical of Goldendoodles, or is your dog having an issue you should be concerned about? Goldendoodles normally breathe between 25 and 40 breaths a minute. If your Goldendoodle is breathing above 40 breaths per minute in a resting position, it may be breathing faster than normal because of a health issue. If fast breathing persists, take them to the vet. To find out if Goldendoodles naturally breathe fast, we need to look at what is considered normal, as well as why dogs pant and how it relates to their breathing. Your dog may have other reasons for breathing fast, including more serious health issues. What is Considered Fast? Before we can answer the questions as to whether your Goldendoodle is breathing faster than normal, we need to look at what a normal breathing rate is. For most Goldendoodles, a normal breathing rate is between breaths per minute. Your dog may be breathing faster than normal if it is breathing more than 40 breaths per minute. However, if it is a little bit higher or lower, do not be alarmed. Just like your breathing rate changes when you walk up the stairs and throughout the day, your Goldendoodles breathing rate is subject to change throughout the day. Goldendoodles breaths per minute have been known to get to breaths per minute or more. If this is the case, see the contributing factors for very fast breathing. While humans sweat to cool down, often when it is hot or after physical exercise, dogs do not sweat. Instead, they pant to cool down, which is accompanied by heavy breathing. If your dog has been running around, barking, or the temperature is warm, they may pant and breathe at a quicker rate than normal to cool themselves off. If they are prevalent, the odds are you have nothing to worry about. If your dog is cool and rested but continues to breathe very fast or loud, you may want to look into it more. Contributing Factors for Fast Breathing If you have come to the conclusion that your Goldendoodle is breathing faster than normal, you are going to want to know why! Goldendoodles are naturally high in energy and excitement. They are energetic and love to play. Anxiety: Goldendoodles are known for being fiercely loyal. They love to be around people and love to please their masters. However, Goldendoodles are prone to anxiety , especially separation anxiety. If you leave your dog alone often, it may experience anxiety, increasing nervousness, heart rate, and breath rate. New places and people can also contribute to anxiety in your Goldendoodle. Trauma: Trauma is also a cause for nervousness, skittishness, and increased breathing rate in Goldendoodles. If your Goldendoodle has been adopted or experienced some form of trauma or abuse, this may be a large contributing factor for its fast breathing. Anemia: Anemia is a condition in which there are not enough healthy red blood cells in the body. This means there is also less oxygen and a dog will pant and breath more often to provide sufficient oxygen to the body. Other signs for anemia include pale gums, eyes, or ears, loss of appetite, vomiting, and weight loss. If you suspect your Goldendoodle has anemia, take it to the vet for treatment. Congestive Heart Failure: Fast breathing is a symptom of congestive heart failure, which is when the heart cannot pump an adequate amount of blood throughout the body. Other signs include fatigue, swollen belly, crackling sound in the lungs, and persistent coughing. This should be treated by a vet immediately and can be life-threatening to your dog. This puts dogs at risk for kidney damage, diabetes, and other illnesses. Fast breathing and shortness of breath are symptoms of this disease including frequent urination, hair loss, muscle weakness, and thinning skin. Calming Your Goldendoodle If your Goldendoodle appears stressed and is breathing quickly, try helping it calm down and relax. There are several things you can try to slow the breathing of your Goldendoodle and help it be comfortable. Goldendoodles may be able to experience less anxiety by spending time with owners, training, exercising, and giving them treats. Be gentle with your Goldendoodle and avoid punishing it. Petting your Goldendoodle and brushing it may help it feel safe and loved. Making sure your Goldendoodle gets lots of time to play and exercise will help it to be calmer at home. They must get out their wiggles! Lowering the temperature and letting them rest are also ways to reduce fast breathing. If you have tried several of these methods and your Goldendoodle continues to have a fast or very fast heart rate, you should look for other symptoms described above and take it to the vet in case of serious health conditions. Any puppy owner knows that the first few months with a new puppy are a scary time. During this time, puppies are also extremely fragile and receptive to everything. Taking care of a young dog is obviously going to stir up some emotions and bring out your natural instincts of care and constant worry. So, is it normal for puppies to breathe fast? What if your puppy is breathing fast while sleeping? To determine whether or not your puppy is breathing too fast, we first need to understand what the normal breath rate is. For puppies, anything from 15 to 40 breaths per minute is considered normal. In contrast, adult dogs tend to take less breaths per minute, usually between 10 and .REM stands for rapid eye movement and this is also the time when both dogs and humans dream. Although puppies generally breathe faster than adult dogs, there are a few other reasons why your puppy may be breathing faster than usual. Fortunately, for the majority of the time, puppies breathe faster because of normal causes. On the other hand, some common causes can also become dangerous, if left untreated. Just like we dream in our sleep, so do puppies and dogs. More often than not, puppies breathe fast while sleeping because they dream about something exciting or even scary. Sometimes the fast breathing is also accompanied by whining and paw movements in sleep. After all, puppies need up to 20 hours of sleep a day! For example, when they arrive at their new home, away from their mama, littermates, and familiar surroundings. They might breathe faster, but also experience other respiratory issues, including struggling to effectively regulate their body temperature. In addition to that, smaller dogs often breathe faster compared to large-sized Doods. Your puppy may be breathing fast, or they might even be panting to cool down more effectively. Keep in mind that excessive heat can be extremely dangerous and even fatal for puppies and adult dogs. Also, make sure your pup has free access to clean drinking water at all times. Bonus points for air conditioning. Most commonly, we notice this in dogs and puppies who are in the middle of a vigorous playtime. So, breathing fast helps your puppy restore its oxygen levels to transport out all the excess carbon dioxide. For instance, small-sized breeds tend to get tired much faster, so do puppies. Likewise, brachycephalic dogs are at an especially high risk of overheating from hot weather or strenuous exercise. For this reason, you should never push your puppy or dog to train too hard. Is your puppy breathing fast while sleeping or did they just finish their playtime? But when is it time to consult with a veterinarian about the problem? If it becomes a persistent issue, you should contact your vet as soon as possible, as it may indicate that your puppy is struggling with an underlying medical issue. Other serious symptoms to keep an eye out for are changes in behavior, appetite loss, lethargy, difficulty moving, excessive drooling, visibly using stomach muscles to help with breathing, and making unusual sounds when breathing. When it comes to more serious cases, there are various reasons why your puppy may be breathing too fast. These include lung diseases and respiratory illnesses, such as asthma, kennel cough, lungworm, viral and bacterial respiratory illnesses, and pneumonia. Heart diseases, parasites, heatstroke, anemia, hernia, and pain can also contribute to fast breathing. Both external parasites like fleas and ticks , as well as internal parasites like hookworms, roundworms, tapeworms, whipworms, and heartworms can cause a puppy to breathe faster than usual. Although some parasite infestations are completely asymptomatic, others can come with symptoms like coughing, lethargy, loss of appetite, weakness, and abdominal pain, to name a few. Either way, parasite infestations can be extremely dangerous for your little pup, some of them even potentially lethal. Parvovirus Parvovirus is a very dangerous and highly contagious infection that spreads unbelievably easily via other dogs or by coming in contact with contaminated objects, people, or surfaces. It comes in two different forms — intestinal and cardiac — both of which can be fatal. The best way to prevent parvovirus is to have your puppy regularly vaccinated against parvo and other infections as instructed by your veterinarian. Lung Diseases If your puppy is breathing fast while sleeping, lung diseases are something that you should consider. One of the most common, yet serious lung conditions in puppies and dogs is kennel cough. Although kennel cough is treatable, it can be very dangerous for young puppies. Heart Diseases Although it might seem like heart diseases are something that only elderly dogs have to deal with, some unlucky puppies are born with genetic or congenital heart defects. Even though the heart and lungs are two very separate organs, the heart actually pumps blood into the lungs. To compensate, the lungs will try to work over time, causing a puppy to breathe faster than normal. Numerous conditions can cause anemia in dogs, including parvo, parasite infestations, cancer and tumors, autoimmune diseases, and blood loss. The most common signs of anemia include pale gums, lethargy and weakness, loss of appetite, weight loss, and, of course, faster heart rate and faster breathing. Excessive exercise, not drinking enough water, and hot temperatures can all contribute to heatstroke, which can be fatal for both puppies and even adult dogs. A helpful trick is to never overexert your puppy with exercise, especially in warm weather. Also, make sure that your puppy always has access to clean drinking water, a cool and shaded area, and you can also help them cool down with a cooling mat. You can also use pet gates to keep your pup away from dangerous items around the house. As we mentioned earlier, puppies tend to breathe faster than adult dogs. The normal breath rate for puppies is 15 to 40 breaths per minute. Anything above or below that is considered worrisome. By comparison, adult dogs take about 10 to 30 breaths per minute. Moreover, as dogs age, their respiratory rate tends to slow down. Nevertheless, each puppy and dog is unique, and only a veterinarian can help determine whether or not your puppy breathing fast is something to investigate further. One breath equals one inhale and one exhale, paired together. For example, if you counted 10 inhale-exhale movements, your puppy takes 20 breaths per minute. There are numerous reasons why your puppy might be breathing fast, most of them being completely normal and safe. Puppies usually breathe faster than adult dogs. Additionally, as 8 weeks is typically the time when puppies get to go to their forever homes, it might indicate that your puppy is feeling a bit stressed. Being taken to a new environment, with new people, and away from their mama and littermates, can prove to be quite a challenge for many puppies. The easiest way to know whether your puppy is breathing too fast is by counting how many breaths they take per minute. Typically, puppies take 15 to 40 breaths per minute. Use your phone timer and count how many times your puppy inhales and exhales this is one breath in 30 seconds, and then double the result. Like us humans, puppies dream while they sleep. For the majority of the time, yes. However, your puppy should only be breathing faster for short periods of time. For example, when they exercise, or when they cool down after spending time in heat. Panting is normal canine behavior. When Goldendoodles pant, cool air is circulated through their bodies and body heat evaporates from their mouth and upper respiratory tract. During panting, the air is rapidly inhaled, humidified, and exhaled. Not sure what to do? In non-emergencies, you can live chat with a veterinarian online by clicking here! Is Goldendoodle Panting Normal? Like any other dog, Goldendoodles only have a few sweat glands that are located on the undersides of their paws and also within their ear passages. However, these glands have minimal cooling capabilities. The number of sweat glands in dogs is inefficient in maintaining normal body temperature. Without an efficient set of sweat glands, Goldendoodles pant to cool themselves. Panting when engaging in exercise or play allows heat to be released in exchange for cooler air. Aside from physical activity, dogs may pant because they are happy and excited. You can see this in the happy wagging of his tail coupled with bright and happy eyes. Common Causes of Heavy Breathing in Dogs Excessive panting in Goldendoodles can be associated with a variety of issues that may require medication attention from a veterinarian. Some of these conditions can be expensive to treat, especially in emergency situations. This is why we always recommend dog owners have pet insurance to help cover these unforeseen costs. The problem is more pronounced in brachycephalic dogs like Pugs or Bulldogs because of their abnormally long soft palate and abnormal anatomical structures of their head and face. When a dog starts to feel a little bit warm, he starts to pant. As the body temperature increases, so does the intensity of panting. Aside from heavy panting, your Goldendoodle may also drool and their gums and tongue may appear red. Dogs suffering from heatstroke may also exhibit wide eyes and lethargy. Heatstroke is a medical emergency that requires prompt veterinary attention. Rapid panting leads to the evaporation of a large amount of moisture from the body within a short span of time. Make sure your Goldendoodle has easy access to fresh clean water, particularly on hot days. As much as possible, avoid outdoor excursions with your pooch during the hottest parts of the day. Never leave your dog inside a car even for just a few minutes. Related: Do Goldendoodles Like Snow? Fireworks, thunderstorms, visits to the vet or the groomers, car rides, and separation anxiety are just some of the most common stressors in Goldendoodles. Exposure to any of these events can cause a dog to pant and whine. Pain or Discomfort Dogs are wired to conceal signs of pain and illness, a trait handed down from their wild ancestors. In the wild, weakness makes an animal vulnerable to predators. However, when the condition worsens, pain and discomfort can become too much for the dog to hide and telltale signs of illness are eventually manifested. These may include panting, loss of appetite, lethargy, diarrhea, vomiting, limping, and changes in behavior. Bloat Bloat gastric dilation-volvulus is a life-threatening condition that is caused by the rapid buildup of air in the stomach and the consequent twisting of the stomach on both ends. When this happens, air and other contents of the stomach are trapped inside. If you suspect your Goldendoodle may be experiencing bloat, take them to the veterinarian immediately. Large and giant dog breeds are more at risk for bloat compared to smaller breeds. Affected dogs appear to strain to vomit or defecate without any success. The stomach becomes distended and painful. Signs of shock—rapid heartbeat, pale gums, irregular or shallow breathing—soon sets in followed by collapse and death. A Full Stomach: Panting may precede vomiting. Panting may be exhibited in affected dogs. Laryngeal Paralysis: The problem occurs when muscles that open and close the larynx become weak or paralyzed. Panting may be accompanied by a high-pitched wheezing sound as a result of the dysfunction of the vocal cords. Labradors and Golden Retrievers are particularly predisposed to the problem. If they are not active and engage in any activity, such as exercise, they breathe heavily while doing it. Stress Dogs experience stress when they are separated from their owner when loud noises like thunderstorms or fireworks are made when they are in unfamiliar surroundings, or when they have a new companion with them.
