There are times when their owners just cannot care for them. And there are times when somebody buys a boxer puppy without understanding the breed's personality and traits and the care a boxer requires. These dogs are either given away or end up in local animal shelters. Today, there are individual and groups of people who rescue boxers, give them the veterinary care they need and strive to place them in loving homes. There are, for the most part, nothing wrong with these dogs. They need a bit of TLC and patience and can very easily become a cherished member of the household. The older puppy or the adult dog can 'bond' with its new owners very quickly. Many times, these dogs will appreciate and seem to 'know' a good home, since they have experienced the worst care scenario. Before you adopt, you want to make sure of several things. Temperament Boxers are generally easy-going and happy-go-lucky dogs with a lot of energy. There are the occassional boxer that has a bad temperament and, in many not ALL instances, the temperament is dangerous to family members, friends and the general public. Make sure that the prospective adoptive boxer has the boxer temperament. Health Issues Many boxers who end up in rescue situations especially animal shelters might have upper-respiratory problems, worms, fleas, ticks or other things. These are quickly and easily treated. However, the issue that is of upmost concern is heartworms. Heartworms, because there are mosquitos abundant in Texas, can be problematic to many rescue groups. The actual heartworm treatment, while rough on the dog, can take care of the worms and the dog can live a healthy, active life. In some severe instances, the heartworms infiltrate the dog's heart and can cause some damage. Again, the dog can live a healthy life but a frank talk with your veterinarian is always encouraged. When you decide to rescue a boxer, a rescue organization will ask you to fill out an adoption form. Don't be alarmed and always be honest. Many rescue groups have specific guidelines for adopting a rescue boxer and they should either be listed on their website or available from a rescue volunteer. There may be personal or veterinary references required or a home visit. Please understand that the volunteers with these rescue grous have put in such hard work and have an emotional bond with these abandoned and unwanted dogs, that they are striving to ensure that the forever home the dog goes to is, indeed, going to be forever. A reputable rescue group does not make a profit on their adoptions, so a little extra to the group can go a long way in helping other rescued boxers. We will make every effort to help you make the best decision for your needs. The customer further agrees that they have no recourse. Once the customer has decided they want to purchase a puppy, they must email us stating so. Customers must remit the deposit amount in either cash, check, or through digital deposit. We will provide the account information for the deposit. Cleared deposits are the only way to reserve a puppy; no cleared deposit means no puppy reservation. Deposits are nonrefundable. By instituting any step in the process, the customer acknowledges and agrees to these terms. Deposits are considered a commitment, and we understand that the puppy will have a home with your family. Final payment for the balance owed must be cleared before pickup. Unfortunately, we do not accept checks at the time of pick up for the final payment on a puppy because all payments must be cleared. When the puppies are born, they are given a color-coded collar. Puppies are discussed by their collar color, though our kids have a tendency to name them as well. Exact puppy choice happens by video interactions, exchanging photos, or through phone conversations at week six so their personality has time to develop. We will make every effort to help you make the best decision for your individual needs. For the health of the puppies, we do not allow visitors. Exact puppy choice begins on week six. Waiting this long allows us to get to know their personalities and help guide you to make the best choice. Choosing a puppy occurs in waiting list order. To facilitate all families making timely decisions, each customer has 2 hours from when we contact you beginning on week six to choose your puppy. We make every effort to lead you through the process of choosing the best companion for your individual needs and lifestyle, so please let us know your situation and preferences. Failure to choose within that 2 hours forfeits your turn, and you will move to the end of the line. The key is to let the puppy have the time it needs with its mother and siblings, and transition the puppy to its new family as soon as it is properly able, in order to bond with them early and well. Through the temperament assessment and your answers to a questionnaire regarding the kind of temperament you are looking for, the puppies will be allocated at 8 weeks of age. What will my puppy come to me with? We also have a trainer that does a training session at pick up. We have group pick up sessions. When will I be able to choose a puppy? You will choose a puppy in the order deposits were placed on the deposit list. Do you guarantee the health of your puppies? Are they all allergy friendly? Those who have previously purchased puppies from us and have an allergy to dander have found a higher tolerance to the labradoodle breed because it is low to non-shedding and dander free. We might be able to take the puppy back pending available space but no refund will be offered. Remember, our puppies are never to be placed in shelter or rescue organization!!! Please consider all of this prior to purchasing a puppy — it is a lifetime commitment! They tend to have more of the lab features with wispy-wavy hair. Their coat is maintenance free other than an occasionally brushing. They have low to moderate shedding which varies from puppy to puppy. F2 doodles are the puppies of an F1 doodle bred to an F1 doodle. Some F2 puppies in a litter will receive more retriever genes than poodle genes from their parents, others more poodle genes than retriever genes, and some with equal retriever and poodle genes like their parents. Thus you have only a few puppies that resemble their parents and most that resemble a retriever or a poodle. They are non shedding and more hypoallergenic than the F1. Their coat is very wavy to curly like that of a poodle. They do require more brushing and grooming to maintenance their curlier coat. Australian labradoodles are the puppies of an F1B, or greater, bred to an Australian labradoodle. They are non-shedding like the F1B and do require more frequent brushing and grooming depending no how long you prefer to keep their coat. Do you do any health testing of the parents? Will my puppy be vaccinated and dewormed? Your puppy will be dewormed at 3, 5, and 7 weeks of age and every two week thereafter until they have left our home. We can have our vet do the surgery prior to it leaving or you can have it done at your vet by 7 months of age. That company, SpaySecure, will send you monthly reminders via email and text. You will submit proof via receipt and a signed document from your vet verifying they fixed your dog. Does a male or female make a better pet? Males and females are equally great pets. Many people have various reasons for preferring one sex over the other, most of which are stereotypical. Both males and females are affectionate, playful, intelligent, trainable, and loyal. A neutered male does not have the tendencies of a non-neutered male such as running off to look for females in heat, humping, aggressive toward other male dogs, etc. Spayed females do not have a heat cycle so you do not have to deal with bothersome bleeding during their cycle. Spaying and neutering prevents breast, uterine, and ovarian cancers in females and testicular and prostate related cancers in males. Do you begin potty training the puppies before they are placed? They do not like to potty in their area. They quickly learn to use the designated potty area. They potty on wood pellets. We send you home with a baggy of wood pellets to make the transition easier and familiar for them. Right after the puppy has finished pottying praise it so it knows that what is has done is good. Small treats are always good too! Frequent potty breaks prevent accidents and build the habit of going outside to potty. Never leave the puppy unsupervised during a potty break! Never leave a puppy unsupervised to roam around your home, this is just asking for accidents! Be patient and be consistent! This must be a safe and welcoming place for the puppy with a blanket or towel for sleeping. Puppies learn quickly to not potty in their sleep area and will hold it as long as possible to avoid dirtying their area. You can expect your puppy to hold its potty 1 hr for every month old it is so an 8 week old puppy should be able to hold their potty for 2 hours around months when the puppy bladder has expanded it will be able to hold its potty significantly longer. Never use the crate for punishment! The puppy should never fear going to its crate — it should be a happy, relaxing, comforting place. All dogs like a little downtime and their crate can be a great place for them to sleep and have some personal space. Find the perfect dog crate for your needs. Please consider this when committing to the labradoodle breed! What kind of training do labradoodles need? Labradoodles are highly intelligent and easily trainable, especially at an early age. Simple commands like sit, stay, come, down, speak, etc are commands you can begin teaching your puppy at weeks of age. There are basic training classes available that provide helpful tips for new owners and successful training methods for training your puppy. It is important for you, the trainer, to be patient with your puppy so it will trust you. Do not punish the puppy for not reacting correctly to a command — this will negatively affect the training process and breakdown the bond between puppy and master. It is also important to remember puppies are very curious and have short attention spans so keep the lesson relatively short. Do you sell labradoodles with breeding rights? Our dogs are part of our family and raised in our home and we would expect the same from another breeder that chose to breed one of our puppies. Breeding pups are sold under a breeder contract and are priced accordingly. What will happen if I cannot keep my dog? If for some reason and issue arises and you are no longer able to keep your puppy we will help you to rehome find it a suitable, new home it. We will still place an ad on our website so prospective lookers will see it. We do this because we like to keep in contact with our puppies and their owners to hear about their silly puppy antics and the joy they bring to their lives as well as providing lifetime support. Step 7 Draw a collar with a tag for a little extra personality. For the collar, draw a half-circle around the neck, add the little ring, and attach a tag. The tag can be a standard oval, or you can personalize it and make it any shape you want. This drawing is based on a photograph on my Labradoodle Max Step 8 Now move on to the body. Start with the front right leg by drawing straight lines from the body, with the paw slightly facing the viewer. Step 9 Draw the left leg now by going out towards the viewer and then drawing the paw drooping down. You will not see the paw because the fur will cover it. Details like toys or collars can add a splash of color. Step 10 Move on to the back and chest now. Connect the legs by a line with hair that will be the chest. Now, draw lines extending from the neck and the left leg outwards. That will be the back. Add fur to contour the body. Step 11 Draw the left hind leg connecting from the back and left front paw, angled toward the viewer and straight. There should be no detail on the paw as the fur will also cover it. Practice drawing wavy hair, it is a mainstay of Doodle dog drawing. Step 12 Only a tiny section of the right hind leg will be visible. Draw it out from the middle of the left back leg and have it curved down and around until it connects slightly higher up from the left hind paw. Add fur. Step 13 Now for the tail! To draw a Labradoodle, we should first sketch in some basic guide lines. Use a 2H or harder pencil and draw very lightly so that the lines are easy to erase after we ink. Draw a circle for the head connected to a bean shape for the body. The dog will be running in our general direction. Start with the eyes. They should rest a little high on the head and be far apart. At this time, they will appear almost too far apart, but they will look more proportionate later on. The eyes should be teardrop shaped, but sideways. They should be very dark and surrounded by thin hair that comb around the eyes and towards the sides of the face. Next, draw the snout and nose. The nose is the shape of a bloated upside-down triangle. It has two small nostril opening and a thin slit in the middle. The fur on the snout should be short on the top and longer on the sides. It should be blowing in the wind somewhat and the strands should cluster together into points. Draw the lower jaw and mouth. The mouth should be open so the chin should hang well below the circular guide line. The tongue should be hanging out slightly, covering most of the teeth. Keep in mind that the lower canine teeth will cause the tongue to rise up as it falls on top of them, creating humps on either side of the end of the tongue. There should be a thin lip along the edge of the mouth. The fur of the lower jaw should be thick, but not too long. Now draw the shape of the head. Notice how the fur starts in the middle of the eyes and combs back evenly in all directions. The fur gets longer as it get further away from the face. Step .The ears should be large and flapping in the wind as the dog runs. Be sure to draw the underside of the ears, but since there is so much long hair on the ears, we should not be able to see details of the inner ears. To give more character to the illustration, give the dog a collar and tag. We should only be able to see a small portion of the collar at this angle, but it should wrap around the neck creating a partial circle shape. The dog tag can be any shape you wish, be it a bone, fire hydrant, oval, or in this case a circle. It should be attached to the collar by a metal ring. Let's move down to the body. Draw the right leg very straight and pointing towards us slightly. We should be able to see the pads of the foot as the dog takes a step forward. The fur on the legs should be pointing downwards and be thinner on the back of the leg. Don't forget to draw the tips of the claws sticking through the fur a little bit. The left leg should be bent upwards and the paw should be dangling down. The top of the paw will be covered with hair so that we cannot see and details of the paw. Next, draw the back and chest of the dog. The back should have plenty of hair strands combed over one another, but we should only be able to see a small portion of the dog's chest since the left leg is raised so high. The fur on the chest should loosely hang down. Also draw lots of strands of hair on the side of the dog's body that are blown back in the wind. The left hind leg should be very straight and pointing towards us as it is planted firmly in the ground. It should be almost parallel to the front right leg. Again, the paw will be covered in fur and we won't be able to see details. The upper portion of the leg should be hidden from view behind the left front leg. We should only be able to see a small portion of the right hind leg. The paw and lower half of the leg should be visible behind the left hind leg. The paw should be higher up than the left paw at this angle. Finally, draw the end of the tail behind the dog. It can be pointing in pretty much any direction you wish, since dog tails move freely as they run. Just be sure to draw it covered with many long strands of hair that blow in the wind. We can now ink our image! Use either a brush and ink or Micron markers. A brush works best since you can feather the fur and easily create fine tips that gradually get thicker as they near the body of the dog. Be patient and be careful not to erase any unneeded guide lines. When the ink has dried, erase the pencil marks with a kneaded eraser. You can add a greater sense of depth to the image by giving it a little shadow. Our dog is light colored, so don't add too many heavy shadows. Again, a brush works great for feathering the dark to light. Add shadow to the underside of the ears, the side of the nose, the inside of the mouth, the underside of the head, and underneath the chest. Also black out the pads of the paws. And that's pretty much it! If you need to make corrections, you can use white ink or opaque white paint. You can also use it to add more highlights to the fur if needed.
