The smallest is known as a toy poodle and their height is 10 inches or shorter, Miniatures are 15 inches or shorter and then the Standards are more than 15 inches in height. The standard is sometimes broken down into more sizes. The smallest of the Standard poodles is sometimes called a Moyen. The Moyen standard poodle is usually anything over a shoulder height of 15 inches and no more than 20 inches. Then some also classify a Royal Standard poodle to be any shoulder height of 25 inches or more and weighing more than 60 pounds at adult size. This is because our Browns are Working Dogs, and must be physically capable to work. This is very difficult to have achieved and took years to develop. Our pups "may" get a sprinkle of grey hairs through their coat as they mature, and may even lighten on their muzzle or tail area when they age. There really is no guarantee on colour. We do have the darkest browns, with substance, that you will find in the "world". Temperament : Our Browns are sweet natured and calm. All our poodles have calm laid back temperament. NO anxious, hyper pacing or barking. Our Browns love to be with you in the same room or on the couch beside you cuddling during a movie. I use my browns as my jogging partners as they are taller and able to do 6km with a good pace with me without any stress or strain and they actually look forward to it and enjoy the activity. Well we don't, and thanks to our Foster homes, helping us out you don't have to either! Our Quest for brown was a long one. We bought and re-homed many in our search for a dark brown that was calm and laid back, that would produce puppies we would be proud of, and know that we could in good faith, place in pet, obedience and therapy homes. There was no way I would produce unhealthy, or hyper brown poodles, so our standards were very high. This cost us financially, emotionally, and took many years. I could not find browns like what I wanted to own, or produce so I waited and kept searching for over 5 years. I can also only house "3" Standard Poodles, so it made the journey even more difficult. Our Story A house is not a home without a Standard Poodle. As you already know, my name is Wendy. My older sister Holley and I were born in the sand hills of North Carolina and have lived here all our lives. Most of the time when we were children, it was just Cindy my Mom, and the two of us. My mama accepted Christ as a young teenager. Holley and I were blessed to have accepted Christ as our personal Savior at a young age. We also attended and graduated from Christian schools which was another way my mom wanted to assure us of a happy future, with Christ at the center of our lives. Mama saw to it we had every type pet we wanted from parakeets and ferrets to horses. She also made sure we learned the huge responsibility of taking care of them. We learned at a very young age the importance of good cleaning practices, feeding habits and medical care to assure that our pets were all happy and healthy. When Holley was a young teenager and I was about ten we raised and sold rabbits, hamster and mice to local pet stores. We did this to help mama support our horse-showing hobby. The miracle of birth and the sadness of death was a part of our everyday lives. Although things were not perfect in some areas of our lives, this was an amazing, blessed way to grow up. This allowed her to have the biggest desire of her heart, which was to stay at home with Holley and me. It was a mother and her son. Venus, the mother, was a gorgeous, loving, elegant, and petite Standard Poodle. Her son, Keegan, on the other hand, still just a puppy, was a huge combination of fun, personality, intelligence and striking good looks. We were surprised that we fell in love with the Standard Poodle and the Westie, because our favorite breeds had always been the Collie and Sheltie mini collie. Mama groomed Keegan and Venus every few weeks and also trained Keegan. As a result the two were in the shop and in our home on a regular basis. Keegan would come and stay just because we loved him. We grew to love their more confident, protective nature and large size, in comparison to the Shelties. A huge plus in comparing the breed to the Collie, was no shedding or odor. These qualities and the intelligence and loyalty of Keegan and Venus, convinced us this was a breed worth sharing with everyone. This was not always easy for my mom, as a single parent, or for us, as two young girls. But we had lots of support and help from our family, friends, and great employees. Are Black and Tan Labradors Purebred? However, the gene for this coloring is recessive. So, a Labrador puppy needs to receive one copy from each parent in order to show black and tan fur. As long as those two parents are also purebred Labradors, the resulting black and tan Labrador puppy will also be purebred. You can ask to see pedigree papers of purebred Lab puppies. But, it is possible for purebred Labs to have this black and tan marking. As you will now know from the information so far, there are two ways that a breeder will be able to achieve black and tan Labrador puppies. When a black and tan Lab is purebred, they often come about by accident. Other breeders may try to mimic and recreate this pattern by breeding a Labrador with another purebred dog. This could be a lighter colored dog, such as a Golden Retriever, or one with the desired markings, like a Rottweiler or Gordon Setter. Many of these breeders will sell their dogs as mixed breeds. Where do Black and Chocolate Labradors come from? The information that determines whether or not your Labrador is basically black or basically chocolate is passed on through a pair of genes. Why black is a dominant color: It is normal for dominant genes to switch off, or over-ride, recessive genes. And that is exactly what happens here. A dog with BB genes will be black, because he has no little b gene, the one that gives us a brown coat. But a Bb dog will be black too, because if the dominant black gene is present, it switches off the brown gene. How chocolate Labradors are made: Even though a dog inherits a little b gene, the dog will only appear brown if no black gene B is present at all. Some studies have shown that mixed-breed dogs have a greater life expectancy than pure breeds. Your Doodle might surpass either of its parents in age. Your puppy at Blue Ridge Labradoodles is born in our personally-designed dog whelping room where they are under our constant watch and care. At weeks old, when weaned, they move to our puppy room which is adjacent to the whelping room. Here they learn early training and receive daily human attention and affection. Any litters over one or two will stay with our puppy-approved Guardian Homes, where they receive top-notch care as well. When you come to choose your puppy, you will be able to see where they live, play, sleep and eat unless they are in a Guardian Home. Week One: Puppies are born, staying with Mama all the time and in a heated cage or room, just the right temperature for newborn puppies. Mom receives excellent care - a variety of fresh meats, eggs, raw goats milk and our special Life's Abundance food - the best diet we can provide! Week Two: Much like week one, the puppies are beginning to open their eyes, they are now beginning to receive human touch which is vital to the development of their personalities. They are beginning to hear the natural noises of a family household as their room is right off of our kitchen. Week Three: With eyes open and full hearing now in action the puppies begin to take steps on their own. Still with Mom full-time, they are beginning to get daily human touch as well. They are beginning to get their paws in some wet puppy food, too! Week Four: Now walking, sitting and standing, the puppies are beginning to taste more of Mom's kibble food if she lets them! They give little growls and show interest in people coming to pet them and hold them. Mom begins to spend less time with them and they receive more human love and affection. Week Five: This is an exciting week as the pups learn to fully enjoy their own quality Life's Abundance puppy food NO grains or anything they shouldn't eat! We soak the food with raw goats milk or all-natural plain yogurt with water for a few days to help them adjust. Mom will only be with them a few more days. Week Six: Your 6 week payment is due now - balance of puppy price. Mom is now going back to her Guardian Home and ready to get back to life as normal without her babies who now have lots of teeth so she is not too sorry to say good-bye. The puppies are now being played with every day by adults and children, and have been moved to the puppy training room. They are learning fast where to "go" and where not to "go. Week Seven: Puppies are now on a schedule and have figured out where to use the bathroom. We use a litter box method for the puppies at this age. They are showing personality and deciding who is the boss. The quiet ones are becoming more obvious and the rowdy ones are getting everyone's attention! This week they begin sleeping in doubles in small, plastic crates. Some crying goes on, but at least they are able to be together during the day. First puppy shots! Week Eight: Your final payment is due now - any puppy kindergarten fees, delivery or other extras. This week they sleep in individual crates and are generally making it though the night wihtout accidents. Good job, puppies! You are ready to move on to be with your forever family at the assigned go-home date! Microchip time and final preparations for going home! They are now ready for their new homes or to join our Puppy Kindergarten Program! First and foremost, make sure the mama dog has a cozy space to give birth to and care for her puppies. She should feel secure, calm, and relaxed in this area, which should also be clean and welcoming. Some essentials include clean towels or blankets for bedding, a heating pad or lamp to keep the puppies toasty, a scale to monitor their weight, and a thermometer to check their body temperature. To grow and thrive, these little fur babies need to be fed frequently and consistently during their first two to three weeks. If the mama dog is present and able to nurse, let her do so as often as possible. Her milk provides essential nutrients and antibodies that protect the puppies from illnesses and infections. Make sure she has access to plenty of water and a nutritious diet to support her milk production. To prevent choking or aspiration, use a small bottle or syringe when feeding newborn puppies. My Labradoodle Puppy Adoption I have been meaning to write about how much this now 7 month old puppy has enriched my life. I got Lucca when he was five months and spent a couple of months sending numerous emails back and forth to Jean. Usually the miracle takes place around two in the morning and as each successive miracle makes his appearance the sun comes up and if we are lucky somebody makes coffee and brings it up to the whelping room. Newborn Labradoodle Puppy's Life For the first ten days of her life a little puppy has no sight and no hearing. They can smell and they can feel the warmth of mum. The puppies are born with an amazing survival instinct. Most of them find mum and begin to nurse within minutes of birth. Mum licks them vigorously to stimulate their little bodies. Labradoodle Breeders' First Job Our primary job is to make sure every puppy gets a turn at nursing on the central, full teats and is not shoved away by his stronger brothers and sisters. Mum needs food, water and lots of encouraging words from us. Jean sleeps in the room with mum and puppies for the first few nights. Little puppies wander off and can get lost in the confines of the whelping box. Labradoodle Potty Training Begins It is mum who gives the puppies their first potty training lesson. Our job is simply to make the whelping box continually clean. At first you would never know a puppy goes to the bathroom as mum stimulates the process with her tongue and rarely is any excrement seen in the box. By about three weeks when the puppies begin to toddle mum will get up and move about the box. The puppies all wake up hollering for a meal. Mum stands up too tall, they need to go to the bathroom and they do! They have gone away from where they sleep and this has been their first formal clean potty lesson. The puppies quickly choose the absorbent pellets as a place to relieve themselves. It smells good, it is easy to clean and it is a very distinct area as compared to newspapers. Discovering these inexpensive and safe pellets was a breakthrough in our house. Our puppies have been much more easily housetrained since we began to use them. We did however introduce a pellet potty to an older litter who simply thought the pellets were lunch and peed on the newspaper. So we realize pellet potty is something that has to be learned as a very young puppy. Lunch As soon as the puppies are able to lurch about by themselves at between two and three weeks we give them puppy gruel. This the consistency of cream. We soak the dog kibble with boiling water and mash it. We begin by feeding each baby with a teaspoon. Very quickly they learn to eat by themselves out of the communal dish. Weaning We used to have the puppies weaned by five weeks in order to have their first inoculation. Now the thinking is that this is not crucial. Mum has begun to wean the puppies on her own. We love natural weaning. It means mum can teach puppies a great deal as she can be with them as much as she likes. Vaccines At eight weeks old our puppies are off to their first vet visit. The doctor checks them all over very carefully. They have their first of three vaccinations for the common doggies diseases. They will be vaccinated again in three to four week by their family. We used to vaccinate earlier so that we could give puppy more than one vaccine before they went home. The Great World One of the nicest times we have with puppies is going outside to play. Even winter puppies enjoy lurching about the snow when the weather is good. We have almost four acres to walk around and they follow us up the path to the driveway and across the field. Their mum often comes with us. I have done mostly what most men do, And pushed it out of my mind. This is a method based on circular movements of the fingers and hands all over the body. Social Life It is our goal for each puppy to have met fifty different people before they go to their home. This is a lot of people and we keep track with pencil and paper to make sure that we are meeting our goal. Male dogs are not likely to mark or be aggressive. Female dogs are not territorial. The International Labradoodle Association recommends early spay and neuters for pets. They said it calmed the dog. Up until this time they paid no attention to the male dog and he was left in tact. It was growing information technology and skill level that allowed vets to safely spay and neuter dogs at or just before six months of age. These factors and the realization that female dogs who were un-spayed or allowed to have a litter were plagued with reproductive health problems. Slowly times changed and the male dog was acknowledged to have a role in reproduction and was neutered. People saw amazing changes in dog behaviour, all for the better. It was a slow road but most people now accept that pet dogs should be spayed and neutered at 6 months of age. Now the technology and veterinary skills have taken huge strides forward. Most new veterinarian practices do paediatric spays and neuters. New studies have shown that problems with bone development and other health issues are not related to early spay neuters. A stressed mama releases stress hormones and her milk is affected, which affects babies. The stress hormones pour through the milk to babies resulting in higher stressed dogs as they mature. It is amazing how stress can negatively impact the development of puppies in so many different ways. We do not allow other dogs into the room, or other people into the room. A mama feeling a threat will quickly jump up and can unintentionally step on and harm, or kill, a newborn puppy. All of these reasons and more are why our pups are born away from the traffic of the rest of the house and in a place mama can relax in and feel safe in. We weigh them daily, check their identifying tags, change bedding, clip nails, etc. Just enough handling that they become used to us, but not so much that they are put under negative stress. Once puppies are about weeks old, we move them from our bedroom to our puppy nursery. The sights and sounds puppies are exposed to increase, but we are still able to control the degree of stress to mama and not have her and babies right in the middle of where people are coming and going through the main part of our home. Like most families, we have people in and out all the time, but we do not want mama feeling strangers are a threat, and we do not want visitors feeling they can handle puppies just because they are in the middle of our home. We control the exposure puppies have at this age and introduce them to things carefully. We want every experience to be a positive one. We want our puppies to be safe from disease and bacteria others may bring into our home. Around 4 weeks, they are introduced to a potty box, they begin eating mush, and they have much more people interaction with our family members or friends that have been taught how to properly handle a puppy, so the experience is positive for the puppy. They are exposed to a variety of musical instruments, as we are a musical family. They hear the radio, sometimes a movie on t. We begin introducing little slides and toys and rotate out daily. At about weeks of age, puppies begin being introduced to the great outdoors. We have a wonderful outdoor play yard with artificial turf, play toys, wading pools, and a variety of toys. Pups experience all sorts of new textures under foot, and have room to run and play. They are introduced to crates without doors and quickly learn to love them as a safe place. When weather does not allow for outdoor play, pups have a 12 x 12 indoor play area with much of the same types of toys and structures. During this time their exposure to outdoor things begins. Lawn mowers, goats, horses, cars, cats, chickens, etc. They are taken for walks in a puppy stroller. They visit the vet office. We increase their level of exposure as is positive for them and do everything we can to make sure they are well adjusted, relaxed, happy puppies. In general, we follow a raising and socialization program designed to slowly increase the exposure and stress to puppy as they are able to cope with it in a positive way. Our goal is to provide families with puppies that have had the best start in life that we can possibly give them. Once they leave our care, it is necessary for families to be committed to continuing this positive exposure and socialization. The next few months are just as critical as the first two. Build on the foundation we started and you will end up with one of the most rewarding experiences and relationships with your dog. It is up to every family to continue the careful raising of their puppy during the following critical periods after the puppy has left us. It is very important to understand that the risk of parvo is much less than the risk of ending up with a puppy with very serious socialization issues that result in families choosing to give up their dogs later or even have them euthanized due to extreme fear and fear aggression issues. He is not a stuffed animal and he does have a mind of his own. Like your teenage child, a juvenile puppy wants to explore their limits and it can be frustrating. Growling and nipping that is part of the normal communication process for a puppy CAN turn into very concerning behaviors if you do not know how to communicate with them properly. How to train properly using rewards and keeping training fun. Understand methods for correcting behavior that will not result in your puppy challenging you further. Always have a calm and confident attitude. We personally highly recommend hiring a behaviorist to help you with training, not just a normal dog trainer. There is a BIG difference between a trainer and a behaviorist and their knowledge is extremely helpful and useful, especially when it comes to working with normal, but problematic behaviors. All foods are not created equal. We breed on the first day the vaginal smear indicates ovulation, skip a day and breed again. If there is any doubt that these were the best days, we will skip a day and breed a third time. Particularly when breeding a bitch that has failed to conceive before, it may be best to breed more than twice. We use only artificial insemination to breed bulldogs. Artificial insemination is easier on the bitch, the dog and the person doing the breeding. When people talk about "natural breeding" of bulldogs, they are really referring to hand breeding. This involves strapping the bitch to a breeding board and physically helping the stud dog mate her. We breed only by artificial insemination, Breeding boards are not used in artificial insemination. Serious breeders who have experience artificially inseminating with their own stud are usually very capable and can do the AI at their house. After you take your bitch home after breeding, continue to keep her away from all males for at least a week. For any bitch that has failed to conceive on a previous breeding, we strongly recommend using Progesterone tests to determine the correct time to breed. Even if your bitch does not look pregnant, bring her in one week before her due date for us to examine. A large bitch with only one or two pups can hide them up under her ribs and not appear pregnant. If there is any doubt, have an x-ray taken. If her season and discharge last longer that 3 weeks, bring her back for a check-up. She might be a bitch that just has a longer than 3 week season. Or the extended discharge might indicate an infection. If any time after her season she has a vaginal discharge again, bring her back for an exam and a white blood cell count. She could be aborting pups. She could have a minor vaginal infection or a serious uterine infection. A uterine infection needs immediate attention. The Cesarean Section is scheduled 60 days after the last breeding. We will make the appointment for 8 AM. We will also schedule an appointment for a week before the Cesarean to examine her and answer any questions you have. We can also do the pre-surgery lab work at that time. While this 60 day schedule works almost every pregnancy, occasionally a bitch will start labor before the Cesarean Section appointment. If your bitch starts labor during our regular office hours, call us to let us know you are coming in and bring her to the hospital. We will do the Cesarean. If your bitch starts labor during the night, weekend or holiday when our office is closed, call one of the emergency animal hospitals and take her there for the Cesarean. When you call our regular office number, the answering machine will give you the numbers of three emergency hospitals. We do not do emergency Cesarean surgery during non-office hours. A Cesarean requires a full staff of personnel that we cannot provide during non-office hours. Labor is not nesting or passing a mucus plug. Labor is seeing her abdomen contract and seeing her push. She may pass some fluid or you may see part of a puppy. This is labor and indicates she needs her Cesarean. Bullbitches have a difficult time trying to whelp naturally for a number of reasons. The pups have large heads. The bitch has a small pelvis. A bullbitch that has any breathing difficulty can find that labor is too strenuous for her. A bitch with a large number of pups can get too tired and exhausted before she has the last one. When there are only one or two pups, they are usually larger and more difficult to deliver. Many bulldog pups die during attempts at natural whelping. They could have lived if delivered by Cesarean section. A bitch that becomes exhausted trying to whelp naturally is then not a good anesthetic risk for Cesarean section. It is better to plan for a Cesarean ahead of time rather than make it an emergency procedure. It can be scheduled at a more convenient time than 2 AM some morning. Of course, saving only one pup with the Cesarean that might have been lost free whelping pays for the Cesarean. Most bitches will start nesting a week or so before they are due to whelp. They will gather up towels or scratch in the carpet or dig a hole in the yard to make a nest. This does not mean labor is imminent. While your bitch is pregnant, she has had a mucus plug in her cervix to seal it. She will start passing this clear mucus the last week of her pregnancy. This is normal. At the appointment for the Cesareans section, bring a box full of towels to take the pups home in and a sheet to lay the bitch on in the car on the way home. The bitch will have a heavy discharge for 3 days - red, black, green, almost any color is normal. After 3 days, the discharge should be no more than a little spotting - several half-dollar size spots a day at the most. A heavy discharge after 3 days or a brownish-red tomato soup discharge with a bad odor anytime is an indication of trouble. Bring your bitch back to the hospital. If the bitch has any discharge from her surgery incision, wash it with hydrogen peroxide and dry it before nursing. If the incision is dry without a discharge, leave it alone. If the incision should gap open more than a quarter of an inch or if a lump develops under the incision, bring her back to the hospital. It is not unusual for bullbitches to lie on pups and smother them. Some bullbitches will accidentally step on a pup and kill it or badly injury it. A few bullbitches will intentionally harm pups. For these reasons, we keep our pups in a puppy box and put them with the mama only while nursing. An adult or older child must be there watching all the time the pups are with her to be sure she does not harm the pups. Of course, this is a lot of trouble and takes a lot of time. But bulldoggers have found that this is the best way to raise as many pups as possible. We use a wooden puppy box. If you anticipate raising only one litter, a cardboard box will do. Our puppy box is 32 inches long by 16 inches wide and 12 inches deep. It has a Plexiglas window in the lid. There are holes in the side that can be opened for ventilation. There is a 60 watt light in one end of the box for heat. The light has a rheostat so that the heat can be controlled and adjusted. If you use a cardboard box, you can adjust the heat by using different watt light bulbs and by moving the light closer or farther away from the box. The important thing is to have a rectangular box with the light in one end. Adjust the heat by watching where the pups stay in the box. If the pups stay right under the light, adjust the heat higher. If the pups stay in the other end of the box to get away from the heat, adjust it lower. The box temperature will need to be about 95 degrees the first week, 85 degrees the second week and 75 degrees thereafter. However, it is important to adjust the heat according to what the pups do, rather than according to the thermometer. If pups lie on a hard flat surface all the time, they will become what we call swimmers. Their chests flatten out and their legs spread out sideways. They cannot get their legs under them. When the chests flatten they start having breathing problems. To prevent swimmers, it is important for the bottom of the box to be soft and irregular. We line the bottom of our box with foam rubber egg crate mattress pad material and cover it with towels. Two alternatives to egg crate material are rubber hot water bottles half filled with air and covered with towels or to wad up newspaper into balls to fill the bottom of the box and cover with towels. The first few days the pups should nurse every 2 hours. Put an old quilt on the floor for mama to lie on. If there is any discharge from mama's Cesarean incision, wash it off with hydrogen peroxide and dry it before putting the pups down to nurse. The first few times, squeeze the nipple to get a drop of milk to come out on it and put the pup's mouth to it. Watch to be sure all the pups get attached. Be sure the big pups do not push the little pups away. Allow the bitch to lick the pups to stimulate urination and defecation and to clean them up. If the mother refuses to lick and clean pups, you must use a cotton ball dipped in warm water to stimulate elimination. Rub the pups' sides, genital area and anus with the cotton ball. Pups can not eliminate freely on their own for the first 2 to 3 weeks of their lives. Someone must stay with the bitch all the time the pups are nursing. After you can see that the pups are gaining weight and are sleeping longer than 2 hours before they awaken and cry, you can start slowly lengthening the time between feedings. If the pups are not definitely gaining weight nursing on mama, start tube feeding them. If one pup is not growing like the rest, tube feed him. Also if you tube feed, you can go a longer time between feedings than you can nursing. We will be happy to show you how and help you start tube feeding and get you the equipment you need. Tube feed Esbilac Puppy Formula. If necessary, use Similac baby formula until you can get Esbilac. If for any reason you are tube feeding the pups exclusively, do not neglect stimulating their bowel and urinary functions. Either let mama lick them or use the cotton balls. Put Esbilac in a shallow bowl or pie pan. Put a pup up to the edge and spoon a little formula up to his mouth. Some of the pups will start eating on their own right away. Others will take a few days to learn. Grind the Puppy Chow in a blender to a fine meal. At first, mix just a little ground puppy chow with the Esbilac to make a thin gruel. When all the pups are eating this, gradually make it thicker. To get as close as possible to providing complete protection for your pups from preventable diseases, follow this vaccination schedule until you place the pups in their new homes and recommend that the new owner continue this schedule: Start vaccinations canine distemper, hepatitis, coronavirus, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus at six weeks old. Repeat this combination vaccination every three weeks till the pups are sixteen weeks old. The last vaccination should also contain Leptospirosis. Rabies vaccination can be given anytime after twelve weeks. If you have pups that did not nurse on the bitch during the first 24 hours of life, start their five-in-one combination vaccine at 3 weeks of age. However the time from 6 weeks to 12 weeks is a very important age for the behavioral development of the pup. During this time the pup must have both interaction with other dogs mother and littermates and interaction with people. Therefore 8 to 10 weeks is the best time for the pups to go to their new homes. Pups that go too early to a new home that does not have another dog in it may later in life have a fear of other dogs or be aggressive to other dogs. Pups that stay with their litter too long before being placed in their new homes may have a hard time adjusting to their new home after 12 weeks of age. If any pups are not going to their new homes by 10 weeks of age, be sure to socialize them to people. Separate them from the litter and give them individual attention for at least 30 minutes every day. All pups should have some contact with children before they are 12 weeks old so they will not be afraid of children later. Of course it is important that they are not hurt by a child early in life. If I send prospective puppy buyers to you, that means that I have recommended you and your pups to the prospective buyer. It does not mean that I am recommending the prospective buyer to you. It is not my place to screen buyers for you. It is up to you to interview prospective buyers and determine which ones can be entrusted with your precious pups. Ask about other dogs in the household. Do they have a fenced in yard? Do they know bulldogs need to be inside air-conditioned dogs? Will they continue the vaccination series? Do they know bulldogs are generally more expensive to care for than other dogs? Is the prospective buyer buying a pup for himself or is he a broker that is going to resell the pup? When you know the new owner is not going to breed or show, encourage the new owner to spay or neuter their pets. Spaying females prevents mammary cancer, uterine infection and accidental pregnancies. Neutering males prevents perianal cancer, perineal hernias and prostate problems. Be sure you are satisfied that your pup is going to a loving home. Tell the new owner that if something happens that causes them to have to give up their bulldog that you will take him back or help them place him in a good home. Fill out the dam's part and send it to the American Kennel Club. They will send you individual forms for each pup to be registered. This takes two to six weeks.
