If you notice that your Frenchie has a runny nose or nasal discharge after they eat or drink, especially if the discharge is very watery or has small bits of food in it, your dog may be suffering with one of these conditions. Other symptoms of a fistula or cleft palate include difficulty eating; coughing while drinking water; persistent sneezing and snorting; and struggling to breath after a bit of exercise. Fistulas in particular are not always that easy to spot. If your veterinarian determines that your Frenchie has one of these conditions, they may recommend surgery in certain cases.
