But, we know they find comfort and in their crate as an escape from the clamor of a busy house. Certainly, the crate can be a great tool and outlet for your bulldog IF used properly. As useful as crates can be they are often one of the most abused resources an adopter. There is much, unneeded controversy on using them that has stemmed from irresponsible dog owners abusing their purpose. The female bulldog is even more at risk than its male counterpart, even though the male can still get them. Your bulldog might be fully house trained, but having a UTI makes it hard for your dog not to urinate when the urge is there, and potty accidents can occur. Hardwood Floors and Tile If you have hard floors or tiles, use a strong absorbent cloth, paper towels, or a mop to absorb the urine. You can then clean the surface to remove any lingering smell. Instead, your dog should have regular bowel movements, allowing them to absorb all the nutrients available. I start dremmeling puppies toenails around two weeks of age and start bathing and grooming face, feet, tail and sanitary at 4 weeks old and every week until they go home so they get used to the baths, clippers and blow dryer. Each puppy will come with AKC registration, a puppy packet, litter blanket, comb, brush, ball, dog food sample bag and their favorite toy all in a toy basket. They will be current on worming and vaccinations. I let puppies start going "HOME" at 10 weeks of age when they will be ready to bond with their new family. They are introduced to the clippers and blow dryer, nails being done etc. They are lead trained and WELL on their way to being house broken. Each puppy has been to the vet and given a extensive health exam and have been given their first set of vaccines. Each puppy is temperament tested and put in several different situations to see their response. The Sire and dams to our litters have been Health checked. We purebred dog breeders work with limited gene pools. Some are large, some are small. Some have lots of breeding dogs, some have few. Some have lines that are quite different, some have mostly one large family. However, pedigrees do not account for differences between two siblings, when in fact they can have a range of similarity. Have you ever noticed how one grandchild looks like one grandparent and another looks like a different grandparent? If we consider that this can happen at every generation, we can see that two lines from the same ancestors can be very much the same depending on which puppies were chosen along the way or quite different. Some people think what this test does is only estimate inbreeding. Inbreeding is only one aspect of breeding. Experienced breeders know that the most important variable in inbreeding is which ancestors are being inbred on — and breeds with major genetic bottlenecks can easily make those bottlenecks more severe without knowing it. You may think you are outcrossing when you are not. You can even pick a nice line breeding that gives you the qualities you want to double up on but is not actually as close a breeding as you think. But only with DNA data. So while this method can be used to lower inbreeding, it really is more of a breed management tool. It does not include testing for mutations — in fact the markers it uses are specifically chosen for not being associated with specific traits because those markers give us a better picture of existing diversity in the breed and genetic relationships between two dogs, or each dog and the rest of the breed. In order to understand the power of the method, the benefits of this method, you have to look at DNA testing a whole new way. Parti Standard Poodles - If you love spots, you may want a parti poodle. A parti poodle is a poodle of white and another color. There are several distinct patterns: the tuxedo, spotted, and abstract all refer to a poodle that is white and another color. That color can be black, brown, red, apricot, creme, silver, blue, grey, cafe-au-lait, or silver-beige. Parti poodles are usually more than half white with colored spots. They can range from almost a solid white with just a few spots of color to the more colorful tuxedos. Tuxedos look like a poodle dressed for a party. They have white on the legs and a white collar that may or may not go completely around the neck. Tuxedo-colored poodles also have white on the belly that should extend up to the chest. Some tuxedos have colored legs almost to the feet and others have white all the way up to their back. Abstract poodles have limited white markings and are almost a solid colored dog. The most common abstract poodle marking is a simple white mark on the chest. White splashes of color may also occur on the face, head, chest, and feet. Abstract poodles sometimes have a white chest and white feet that look like they have been dipped in paint. Ticking marks are the small spots found within the white parts of the dog. Dogs may have little to no ticking. Ticking on legs may look like small spots or be large enough to look like stripes. New owner should permanently register all puppies with the AKC. Males can breed as early as 6 months and females will come into heat at about 8 months. You will be given a COPY of your registration papers at time of sale. If there is indication of "remodeling of the femoral head" or "shallow acetabelum", then there is no need to repeat the x-ray. Puppies that do not pass OFA and receive a mild or moderate result of dysplasia are still able to lead a normal pet life and will be considered Pet Quality and a replacement puppy of Show Quality will be offered at half price. They may keep the first puppy if they choose to. Pet Quality Puppies who are diagnosed with hip or elbow dysplasia must also have reports sent to OFA to confirm diagnosis. The dog must be in obvious pain and this must be documented by a veterinarian. A replacement Pet Quality puppy will be offered at half price for reports of mild and moderate. If a Pet Quality puppy is diagnosed with severe dysplasia, a replacement Pet Quality puppy will be offered at no charge. Often, a fast growing puppy will show sublaxated only to x-ray normal when he finishes growing. Sublaxation looseness with no remodeling of the femoral head, does not cause pain and could be a temporary situation that will correct itself. No refunds will be given for a report of Panosteoitis growing pains , as this can be controlled by proper feeding and the puppy will outgrow it. All veterinarian costs must be paid for by the new owner. If the puppy is found to be unhealthy a written diagnosis from the veterinarian must be provided , the puppy may be exchanged for a puppy of equal value if available. No exchanges or refunds will be given after 5 days from date of transfer. As the Breeder of your new puppy, We have done everything we can to ensure that the health of your puppy is excellent. All costs associated with returning a puppy to Breeder for replacement if so desired, or you may keep the puppy if you wish and having the replacement puppy shipped if necessary to Purchaser's location will be paid for by Purchaser. I cannot stress enough, the importance of obedience class and socialization for a German Shepherd puppy. No guarantee will be honored without written documentation of completing the class. A well mannered puppy does NOT just happen, your puppy will become what you allow him to become. Breeder may be contacted at any time for advice and concerns. Please do not hesitate to call if you have questions about your puppy. An occasional update and picture of puppy would be greatly appreciated. New owners must keep address and phone number current with Breeder. Legal actions will be taken to return puppy to Breeder if reports of neglect are indicated. It is our sincere desire to find Forever Homes for our puppies. Do not take ownership of a puppy lightly, if you are not prepared to care for this puppy for his entire lifetime years then do not adopt one of our puppies. We do understand that there are situations that cannot be helped or foreseen. If for ANY reason the new owners can no longer keep the puppy they MUST notify Breeder immediately and the puppy must be returned to the Breeder and no refund will be given.
