Chrondrodystrophy, a form of short-legged dwarfism associated with an increased risk of the painful spinal condition intervertebral disc disease. The neurological condition degenerative myelopathy. Luxating patellas — knee caps which slip out of position. Difficulty giving birth. Damage to the surface of their eyes , because they protrude so much. Breathing difficulties associated with having a flat face, including tracheal hypoplasia excessively narrow windpipes. This is part of a group of abnormalities known as Brachycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome. They often require expensive surgery to help dogs breathe safely and regulate their body temperature through panting. Dogs left untreated have a high risk of collapsing and even dying from heat stroke in warm weather. CDA causes itchy, flaky bald patches in their coat. So, when buying a blue fawn French Bulldog, you have to be extremely confident in the integrity of your breeder to exclude affected individuals and their siblings from their breeding programme. Temperament vs Color Despite their health problems, Frenchies are enjoying a massive surge in popularity. Which is partly down to their temperament. Frenchies are affectionate and entertaining companions. They love their human family , and regularly seek out contact with them. Blue fawn coloring is not associated with any differences in temperament. Prospective owners should be aware though, that since Frenchies were bred as companion dogs, they tend to cope poorly with being left alone. They are vulnerable to separation anxiety, which can manifest as destructive behaviors and barking when left alone. It requires very little in the way of brushing. However, blue fawn French Bulldogs with color dilution alopecia might need regular bathing with a gentle vet-prescribed shampoo to prevent infection entering the skin where it is inflamed, and to reduce itchiness. All French Bulldogs also need special care to keepthe wrinkles around their face clean. These warm creases in the skin are an ideal breeding ground for bacteria. In theory, blue fawn French Bulldogs should be rare. They are the result of a recessive genetic combination that should normally be masked by other more prevalent genes. However, blue fawn Frenchies have received a lot of attention from pet owners who like the idea of something different and unusual. Which is why blue fawn French Bulldog puppies are regularly offered for sale, and for several thousand dollars each. Unfortunately, these dogs are usually even more unhealthy than the average Frenchie, because the breeder has bred with color and profit in mind, rather than health. In fact, good breeders often refuse to charge more for unusual colored puppies on principle, to avoid making them more appealing to profiteering puppy farmers. Unfortunately, Frenchies suffer enormously from health problems which humans have knowingly bred into them by pursuing a very extreme body shape. Blue fawn Frenchies are vulnerable to all of these, with the added risk of developing uncomfortable color dilution alopecia too. If your heart is set on a Frenchie, consider rehoming an older dog from a rescue shelter instead. Boxers have regal, distinctly shaped square heads. Their jaw is undershot and the muzzle blunt. They have a broad, deep chest and a relatively short, strong back. Boxer's ears fold over naturally, but traditionally, their ears have been cropped to stand erect. Their tails generally are docked and carried high. Their feet are compact and the toes are arched. The boxer's coat is short and sheds moderately. Some boxers are a rich, fawn color and others are brindle. Some Things to Expect The first year will be full of changing behaviors and a change in physical appearance. Here's what you can expect: A Boxer puppy will whine if he is hungry, wants attention or once he is learning house training, if he has a bathroom need The time to instill training for barking and other behavior is now - before habits can form Puppies are super hyper , but will also sleep quite a bit - Anywhere from 15 to 18 hours per day including night time and daytime naps The first year is one of rapid growth, but do expect starts and stops. As your Boxer reaches adolescence, there is sometimes a brief period of stalled weight gain at which time a Boxer may appear too skinny. I began looking at other bully breeds in an attempt to find a healthy bulldog that matched my vision. For many years my search came up lacking. By the time I reached this earth, bulldogs had become a gross mutation of their former selves. The bulldog of old- the courageous, capable, athletic, powerful bulldogs had long since become extinct. I become less enamored with the English Bulldog breed and more so interested in my image of what I felt a bulldog should be. But I did not Stop Searching. They were local, and the name in the olde tyme spelling piqued my Bulldog curiosity. I called and made an appointment to see what these Olde English Bulldogges were all about. I rushed right over to see this new promise of a better Bulldog. When I arrived, I saw the most superb Bulldog bitch that I had ever seen in my life! Bulldogs only moved that powerfully and quickly in the cartoons! I knew I was onto something with my brand new introduction to the Olde English Bulldogge. The sales pitch that the Olde English Bulldogge was healthy and capable sold me. Traveling around the country, I visited breeders of this amazing new breed and I bought up puppy after puppy. Dog after dog failed health and temperament tests. It quickly became evident that the Olde English Bulldogge breed also suffers from several of the same health issues which plague the English Bulldog. Compelled by obsession, I started all over, In spite of my losses. The lessons were expensive, in addition to well-received. Nevertheless, I searched tirelessly for Olde Bulldogges that would put me within reach of my ultimate goal of a bigger, better bulldog. Taking some significant losses, I realized getting what I wanted would mean creating it myself. Still obsessed with my dream, I kept searching and searching. With a few tastes here and there of what could be, I eventually stumbled upon a few exceptional dogs. As dogs finally started passing health testing, I could move forward. This small handful of quality dogs would lay the foundation for a solid breeding program. I began linebreeding my productions to make great family companion bulldogs that excel at protection. English bulldogs and French bulldogs are so unique in their personalities; there are never two that look or act the same way. We just love how wonderful they are with children and are excited that our 3 year old daughter enjoys playing with them as much as we do. Bulldogs will play for 1 hour and then sleep for 2; they are ideal for any age of child and usually get along well with other pets. There is one tradition that takes the field every Saturday, and whose presence causes a roar throughout the entire city, and his name is Uga. The tradition of the solid white bulldog mascot started in .This started the long line of Ugas and the family tradition of breeding the beloved UGA mascot. With the creation of these traditions and establishing a university, there was no official mascot in the beginning. In , the mascot that took the field was a goat. In , the mascot shifted from a goat to a dog. The shift in mascots allowed the Seiler family to become an important part of the UGA traditions. Choosing the Bulldog When choosing future Ugas, Charles Seiler said that his mother usually chose the lower dogs, meaning dogs that sit closer to the ground with short legs and a wide chest. He is trying to stray away from that build, because the tall and lean dogs are able to handle the heat better. Bulldogs suffer from various health conditions ranging from breathing issues to skin conditions. Charles Seiler gravitates toward the taller and leaner bulldogs, and tries to stick to the white males because they have bigger heads and look like Uga. Charles Seiler said there was nothing wrong with female bulldogs, but typically they have smaller heads than males. After the death of Uga VI in , Charles Seiler started to read articles about bulldogs around the world and they decided to start selective breeding. Charles Seiler said his house is somewhat built around Uga. When his day comes, each Uga is buried in a marble vault alongside his fallen predecessors outside the football stadium. The line of pure white English bulldogs, which epitomizes everything Georgia, has been owned by the Frank W. Through the years, Uga has been defined by his spiked collar, a symbol of the position which he holds. He was given his name, an abbreviation for the university, by William Young of Columbus, a law school classmate of Seiler. Each of the Uga mascots is awarded a varsity letter in the form of a plaque, identical to those presented to all Bulldog athletes who letter in their respective sports. As determined and published by the Pittsburgh Press, the University of Georgia is the only major college that actually buries its mascots within the confines of the stadium. Only a year old at his coronation, Uga VI stands as the biggest of all the Uga mascots weighing in at 65 pounds - 20 pounds heavier than his father. His first season climaxed in a magnificent come from behind victory over Purdue at the Outback Bowl in Tampa. The comeback from a point deficit marked an unprecedented feat in Georgia annals and the largest comeback in collegiate bowl history. The season ended in Hawaii, but due to the distance and a quarantine rule, Uga VI missed the O'ahu Bowl, marking the first time the Georgia mascot had missed a postseason game since the Sun Bowl. This notice came a week after Uga IV had passed away at his home in Savannah from kidney failure. There were only three pups in the litter and the last one born on March 6 was the only solid white male. Uga V had been perhaps the most well known of all the Bulldog mascots highlighted by his appearance on the cover of the April 28, , Sports Illustrated which declared him the nation's best college mascot. Uga V also presided over Georgia's most successful collective sporting effort in department history as the Bulldogs claimed four NCAA team titles during the season - women's swimming and diving, women's gymnastics, men's tennis and men's golf - and placed second in the Directors' Cup race.
