However, most are a hybrid mix between the two bloodlines. We do this in order to bring out the best in both. We also enjoy the many different shapes, sizes and colors this breed comes in. We have established a fourth generation Morrison's American Bulldog bloodline, with no future plans to retire. This is a family business and our children regularly express their desire to help grow us in their future. When it comes to breeding for specific purposes, a single breed can take on different markings or body structures. The 5 Types of American Bulldogs 1. Johnson breeding lineage. These dogs were bred during the World War II era. They have a classic underbite and boxy skulls, giving them that distinct Bulldog look. This line is stout and heavy. Because of their broad, muscular bodies and short muzzles, they are often confused with other Bully breeds, such as the English Bulldog. They stand between 23 and 27 inches at the shoulder. Like my Fly, Darkus is also just a fantastic mother to her puppies, with lots of milk, lots of patience, and doesn't become emaciated when she's nursing. This pic of Darkus was taken just the other day, less than 10 days after her puppies quit nursing, and she's already nearly all the way snapped back and tightened up again. That's a very healthy mama trait we really like around here. Dry mouth and no eye leakage whatsoever. Slim and streamlined as a serious running dog, but with hard, rippling muscle as the traditional southern catchdog he is. He's sweet, intelligent, very laid back and mellow, but a solid home protection dog nonetheless. Boogie's attitude with both strange male people, and strange male dogs is if you don't want none, don't start none, let's just be friends.But if you do want some, we call him Bad Boy Boogie for a reason. Boogie will light you up right now - on command, or self-initiated in protection scenarios. He can also do better than a 6' standing jump, move faster than the human eye can follow, and gladly run full out for miles. About the Litter Generally: The litter is happy, healthy, friendly -- mom being a purebred Johnson type American Bulldog, dad being a purebred Scott type American Bulldog.
