Some speculate that artwork and skeletal finds of the Bulldog known as Chincha in ancient Peru closely resemble the French Bulldog. Others have suggested the Spanish Bulldog featured in the creation of the French Bulldog. Most agree it is probable that today's French Bulldog originated from the toy Bulldogs brought to France by the lace workers from Nottingham in England, following the Industrial Revolution. These miniature Bulldogs are thought to have been crossed with Terriers and Pugs and thus the French Bulldog evolved. French Bulldogs became popular among Parisian women and then became a status symbol of French society including artists, businessmen and aristocrats. Toulouse Lautrec and Degas painted pictures that included French Bulldogs and French author, Colette wrote stories about her beloved Frenchies. Wealthy Americans visiting Paris also fell victim to the charms of the Frenchie and took them home to America. The French Bulldog is one of only a few breeds which owes its existence to the efforts of breeders in different countries - France, America, England and Germany. Certainly the continuance of the unique bat ears at the turn of the century was due to America and there was immense popularity for the Frenchie in America from a century ago and which has continued for at least 30 years. Over the last decade, the French Bulldog has experienced a popularity never seen before in the history of the breed. In Australia Frenchies continue to be ranked in the top 10 most popular breeds. United Kingdom ranked number 2 and accounted for .Statistics in France show the French Bulldog ranked in the top 10 — dropping to number 13 in where registrations for that year totalled , Without the correct ear shape and set, you do not have a Frenchie. The ears are unique in the dog world and another important breed characteristic is the short, undocked tail. Temperament The French Bulldog, or 'Frenchie' as often known, is a delightful companion. A wonderful characteristic of the breed is that each Frenchie has its own unique personality, which makes it extremely difficult to settle on just one. The French Bulldog may look tough on the outside, but inside it is a comical and affectionate companion. Generally well behaved, active, alert and playful, the breed is a fun dog to live with. It loves nothing more than to cuddle on the couch, romp inside or play in the yard — it spreads good vibes wherever it goes. People who love the breed know that this is one of the main reasons for its rise in popularity. Full of charisma, the French Bulldog is too hard to resist. Appearance Small to medium in size, the Frenchie's appearance is unique with its distinguishing bat ears, a well-muscled and compact body, moderate angulation and a short, smooth coat. It has an alert, curious, and interested expression. The tail should be short, undocked and set on low. The rear legs should be longer than the front legs so that they elevate the loin above the shoulders. Coat colours vary and can be brindle, pied or fawn. There can also be quite a variation in the brindle colour from an almost solid black colour to quite striped, commonly referred to as a tiger brindle. Health The French Bulldog is generally a sound dog, rarely suffering from heart, eye, skin problems or epilepsy. However, the combination of the brachycephalic head, short body and screw tail increases the potential for hemivertebrae and breathing difficulties. The breed's lifespan is years. The scheme whilst not compulsory has been embraced by breeders throughout the country and is a highly recommended breeding practice for all breeders in Australia. Until then to diagnose BOAS usually required a physical examination, history and lesion assessment under sedation or a general anaesthesia. The Cambridge University study involving French Bulldogs, Pugs and British Bulldogs, using the chamber was ground-breaking, a non-invasive method to evaluate and grade the respiratory function of brachycephalic breeds. The chamber will be housed in Dr. Maintenance The French Bulldog is a low maintenance dog when it comes to grooming. The short coat is easy to maintain with regular brushing and minimal bathing. The breed will shed twice a year, but the short coat does not create a problem for indoor living. Ears and nails need attention and should be cared for on a weekly basis. Wrinkles and folds around the face and tail should be checked and kept clean and dry. Suitability Frenchies are not for everyone but if you want an affectionate, good natured companion look no further. They thrive on social interaction with their family members and really do consider themselves a part of the family. They are extremely curious, entertaining and will make you laugh every day. The Frenchie is a loyal friend who requires plenty of companionship and so is not suited to outdoor life. Its small size and short hair makes it an excellent house dog. Frenchies enjoy a little exercise, be it a walk or a game with their favourite toy, but they also love some quiet time curled up on your lap. French Bulldogs are suited to most situations including inner city living, the suburbs or the country estate. It is a fairly hardy breed, but care must be taken during summer when there is an increased risk of overheating. The breed thrives on love and attention and is not suited to a kennel situation. Before you make a decision, please make contact with the breed club or your State controlling body for purebred dogs. They will be able to give you information about available puppies and also suggest dog shows where you can see the breed and speak to breeders. In this way you will gain a better perspective of the French Bulldog and its needs, and whether this breed would suit your lifestyle. This will guarantee that the puppy is purebred, healthy, and up-to-date on its vaccinations. The health of any breed is largely dependent upon its breeding practices, so this becomes even more important with purebred dogs such as boxers who are prone to hereditary diseases. Be aware that the vast majority of the pet stores have their puppies supplied by unscrupulous breeders. The best place to find reputable boxer breeders will be through the local boxer breed clubs, they will be able to put you in touch with responsible breeders who are aware of the health issues specific to this breed. Above all, take your time. Do not ever, rush into any decision when purchasing a new family member. If you do so, then chances are that it may turn out to be one of the biggest mistakes of your life. Visit Your Arizona Boxer Breeder in Person Every responsible breeder will insist on you visiting them in person before buying a puppy. The breeder should be happy to offer you references from previous purchasers, as well as conducting an interview with yourself the potential new owner. Questions to Ask Ask for References from Your Boxer Breeder in Arizona Most responsible breeders will have no problem in offering you references from people that they have sold puppies to previously, even better if they can provide more than just one. Other than asking for references from previous buyers, always ask the breeder what type of after-care is provided. Reputable breeders will also offer at least a 6-month health guarantee with their puppies; this means that they will either fix or replace your boxer puppy at no cost to yourself if it falls ill within this time frame. This way you can be assured that you are purchasing a healthy boxer pup, free of known genetic issues. The most reputable boxer breeders will have no issues in allowing their clients to meet one another. Find out whether the breeder uses a good vet. If they do, then they will be more than willing to give you contact information for their veterinarian, as well as provide you with a recommendation. It is unfortunate but true that puppy mills do exist and finding one can be extremely difficult as most will go out of their way to make it appear as if they are running a legitimate business. Healthy boxer pups grow into healthy boxers, so quality over quantity should always be the goal. This is not a sign of distrust but rather one of concern for both you and your new boxer pup. A good breeder will ask you what type of contract you would like before selling a puppy to you. By asking this question you can ensure that your boxer pup has never had ANY health problems such as Parvo or other issues that may become apparent in later life such as heart disease. How to Prepare Your Home for Your Boxer Puppy The age at which your new boxer pup is received will often determine how much preparation you need to do. While it may seem like a daunting task, if done properly it can be achieved within just a week or two of arriving home — providing that everyone in the household understands what is expected and are prepared for this new addition. They are very intelligent, eager, quick to learn and known to be a good breed for competitive obedience. Boxers bond closely with their family and are loyal and affectionate. In fact, they are known to get along well with children. A properly socialized Boxer will get along with dogs and other household pets, such as cats, but small animals such as rodents or birds may be too tempting. Being energetic and playful, the Boxer can become boisterous and jump on people without proper training and leadership. Boxers need to go on a daily walk and get daily mental and physical exercise. Without it, they can become stressed out. You should start training your Boxer while it is a puppy: Boxers do best with dominant owners who can be firm, consistent and committed. You need to establish yourself as the leader of the pack with this dog breed. Owners who do not establish dominance often find their dogs to be stubborn or demanding which can hamper the owner-pet relationship. Living Conditions As for living arrangements, they can be fine in an apartment if sufficiently exercised even though they are active indoors, but Boxers really do best with an average-sized yard. They are also temperature sensitive, overheating easily and chilling quickly. Boxers have a natural tendency to protect their owners and home, and although visitors who the dog recognizes are not seen as a threat, will protect their owners if they sense danger. Boxers are courageous which makes them great watchdogs and will even restrain intruders. It is important to know Boxer puppies require human leadership and need to be taught not to be boisterous or jump up on people. It requires very little grooming. Brush it with a rubber curry brush once or twice a week to keep it looking good. The Boxer tends to be a clean breed only occasionally needing a bath. Origin The name Boxer is thought to come from the way they use their front paws for just about everything; pawing at its food bowls, toys, and even its owner in a playful way. The Boxer was developed in Germany in the 19th century and its ancestors were two German mastiff-type breeds. They were later bred with the ancestors of the Mastiff and Bulldog. Boxers were first used for dog-fighting, bull-baiting, cart pulling, cattle dogs, rounding up livestock, and to catch and pin wild boar and bison until hunters could arrive. Later they became popular theater and circus dogs. There are two types of Boxers: the German and the American Boxer. German Boxers have bigger heads and are generally more muscular than American Boxers. See store for details on a puppy. The American Canine Association, Inc. The American Canine Registry. Anyone seeking out a Bernedoodle can look forward to one of the finest designer dogs ever bred. Bernese Mountain Dogs nearly went extinct in the late s, and the effort to bring them back resulted in inbreeding which led to various health issues. As a result, they sadly have a relatively short lifespan years. Crossing with the Poodle allows the bernedoodle to keep the Bernese qualities that so many people adore, while also having a much longer lifespan years. These sweet Bernedoodles have so much in their favor! You have found it in the Bernedoodle! I am still amazed at the beautiful personality of these hypoallergenic, family-friendly puppies. Bernedoodles tend to be an all-around well-balanced dog with a friendly, sociable and playful disposition that is a good fit for owners of any experience level. Bernedoodles tend to be very trainable and fare really well with other people and pets with socialization. Our Generations of Bernedoodles Depending on the parent dogs, there are many genetic variations of Bernedoodles. We have Standard, Miniature, and Tiny Bernedoodles. Our Bernedoodles come in three breed sizes - Standard, Miniature, and Tiny. Our F1 Standard Bernedoodles will usually stand inches at the shoulder and weigh or more pounds. Most standard Bernedoodles are in the pound range. Females are usually smaller than males. Our F1 Mini Bernedoodles usually stand between 17 and 22 inches tall and weigh anywhere from 25 to 65 pounds with most of them weighing lbs. Again females tend to be smaller than males. They are sized similar to our F1 Minis. F1B Tiny Bernedoodles usually stand between 12 and 17 inches tall and weigh between 15 and 25 pounds. Again, these puppies tend to be more hypoallergenic and usually less shedding than the F1 Bernedoodles. Differences between male and female Bernedoodles. We are often asked if there is a difference between boys' and girls' personality. Our experience is that there is a lot more difference from puppy to puppy in a litter even in the same gender than there is between boys and girls. Males might tend to be more affectionate and goofy, but also a bit more stubborn while females can be more independent but easier to train and less stubborn. The differences are actually quite subtle, and both males and females make absolutely amazing pets. Temperament is more important than gender when looking for the puppy that is the right fit for you. Male Bernedoodles tend to be larger than females, but beyond that there is not a major difference between the genders. Our Bernedoodles have various coat colors and types. Coat colors are generally a combination of both of the parents' breeds. Almost all of our F1 puppies have the beautiful tri-colored markings of the Bernese. This tri-colored coat is a less common variation and is generally the most sought after. You will see the most variation in color in our F1b puppies. One of the huge attractions to the bernedoodle is its hypoallergenic coat. Bernedoodle coats can vary in thickness, consistency, and color. In an F1 first generation breeding, you might get a puppy with a coat that looks more similar to a Poodle and get another puppy with a coat more like a Bernese Sometimes even within the same litter. While most of our bernedoodles have minimal to no shedding, a curly, Poodle-type coat will shed less than the one that is more straight, like the Bernese Mountain Dog. We encourage a more curly coat for people that have allergy issues. If you have intense allergies you should consider a curlier coated F1 or an F1B puppy. Bernedoodle coats are generally put into three main categories - Curly, Wavy, and Straight. Please note when looking at the examples below that the appearance of our Bernedoodles is greatly affected by whether they are groomed and how short the coats are if groomed. Be sure to consider this when looking at the pictures. The curls on this coat are usually tight with a soft texture much like what you would see on a Poodle. Curly coats may still shed, but they shed the hair upon themselves rather than on your floor. Unfortunately, this shedding upon themselves is what makes it necessary for them to be brushed daily and trimmed frequently. The curly coated Bernedoodle is usually the most suitable for owners who have an allergy to dog dander. This coat is very free-flowing and often has a lightly kinked or wavy appearance. Most people with allergies to dog dander i. Note, if you are unsure if this coat type will be fine for you, we suggest that you get further allergy testing done as well as take some time to interact with doodles and their humans in your area before purchasing a puppy. Be sure to consider this when looking at any pictures. Here is an example of the same dog with the pictures taken before and after a haircut. How you groom your dog is a big part of what gives them the look they have. Due to their well-balanced temperament and high trainability, our Bernedoodles are often trained as therapy dogs. They are a really excellent fit for the training regimen and tend to enjoy having a job to do. As a therapy dog, they get lots of human interaction, which they thrive on. Plus, it's a job that allows their cuddly and affectionate personality to shine! Our Bernedoodles do well in apartments. Both Standard and Min Bernedoodles will adapt well to apartment living. Their Bernese Mountain Dog mom is a working breed however, so they need to get plenty of exercise and attention to remain happy and healthy. They don't like to be left alone for long periods of time because they love human interaction, but are usually fine when left alone for shorter periods of time. They are a true companion dog. One of the reasons our Bernedoodles do so well as therapy dogs is that they are true companion dogs. They are very intelligent and are often described as having a happy-go-lucky, goofy, and charming temperament. They are happiest when spending time with their families. Bernedoodles love human interaction, affection, and attention and enjoy playtime and cuddle-time equally. Our Bernedoodles are excellent around children and the elderly. They are a dog who simply wants to love and be loved in return, which makes them a fantastic companion for single owners and for families. More than twice as many Labs were registered than any other breed making it a likely leader for many years to come. In a recent article, a licensed professional counselor for more than twenty-five years, explained how owning a Lab can help produce healthier, happier, more well adjusted children. Here is an excerpt from her article: The ten reasons that I am giving for children to have a dog are not listed in order of importance. All of us have different characteristics which we find more important than others. Every reason I list, however, is important to the childhood of your son or daughter. Having a dog helps teach responsibility to children. Caring for the dog will teach children that their pet is dependent on them for food and exercise and love. Dogs require a lot of care; they need to be fed, walked, played with and trained. Children come to understand that dogs have to learn discipline in order to be pleasant around the family and others. Children come to appreciate discipline by observing how important it is in their dog. Having a dog teaches children patience, commitment and selflessness. Caring for a dog takes a great deal of responsibility. Children learn to be less focused on themselves and more patient with others. Responsibility is a key factor in leadership development in children, and one of the best ways of learning responsibility is in the home with the family dog. Being responsible for a dog teaches children valuable life lessons. The lessons that children learn from having a dog are priceless and may just help in being successful in life and in a career. French Bulldogs are one of the most charming and cutest dog breeds out there, But it does not end there! There are some pretty interesting facts about these unique coats that you need to know before you get one for yourself. What Is a Brindle French Bulldog? While the French Bulldogs come in a variety of colors, the most striking ones are the ones with that special brindle coat. Brindle French bulldog has this dazzling pattern compared to a regular Frenchie. This brindle pattern is known for its darkness. The twisting stripe pattern of colors is so much darker than the typical base color of their coat, with a bit of a blend of lighter hair throughout the coat. However, the most common are the ones with darker and lighter colors, but there are other colors too with different features and mainly patterns. Brindle French Bulldogs This is the common coat color, with a darker coat with a mixture of lighter hair. Seal Brindle French Bulldogs The seal brindle is mostly comparable to a typical Brindle with a few white hairs; it mostly looks similar to a pure black french bulldog. Most of the time, the coat looks grey, though. Chocolate Brindle French Bulldogs Chocolate brindle, as the name suggests, has a chocolate brown color with a slight mixture of a milky color; they have blue eyes while the nose and nails are brown. Reverse Brindle French Bulldogs Reverse Brindles have white or cream color coats along with dark patches or even stripes. This one is considered to be much rarer than the others. Pied Brindle French Bulldogs Pied Brindles are almost similar to the reverse brindles when it comes to the coat colors; the difference comes from the dark patches. These are all the colors that you can expect in a brindle french bulldog. The brindled pattern comes from the genes, specifically the K-Locus gene, which is responsible for the fawn, dominant black, brindle colors. If the Frenchie needs to have a Brindled pattern, both its parents should have a recessive K gene. However, not every brindle pattern is the same; each one is different from one other; some may have the brindled patterns all over them while the other will have the pattern on specific areas. Size You might know that the French bulldogs are small-sized dogs, they only stand inches tall, and both males and females weigh 28 pounds 12kg on average. Grooming When it comes to grooming a Frenchie, it is one of the easiest dog breeds to do so mainly because of its short fine hair. If you want your Frenchies coat to look the part, you will have to bathe him 4to5 times every year, brush them with a stripping comb outside, and grooming mitt regularly. Temperament French Bulldogs are very social dogs and will get along with people, children, and even other pets very quickly. Training and Exercise Frenchies are considered to be stubborn and challenging to train, so you may have to train them earlier. Nowadays online programs like Doggy Dan dog training helps to train any dogs at home. Brindle French Bulldogs are prone to gaining unhealthy weight, so exercising an hour every day is crucial; also, keep in mind that these breeds are prone to obstructive airway syndrome, so avoid exercising in warmer climates, because it might lead to difficulty breathing. Also, avoid spending much time in the hot sun; this might cause skin burns. Diet A good meal is essential to a Brindle Frenchie mainly because it keeps their coat in perfect shape. Also, if the franchise is still a puppy, they might eat more than their adults, so avoid overfeeding them. Health Brindle French Bulldogs are not short of complicated health problems, and not just one or two; there is a long list of potential health problems that can affect a Frenchie. There are 3 common issues that you are likely to encounter while raising a Frenchie: Cherry Eye. Reverse brindle Frenchies are also sometimes called black brindle French Bulldogs. Darker than standard brindle Frenchies, reverse brindles are every bit as gorgeous. A grey or blue brindle French Bulldog, Darcy also has a few touches of grey thanks to a lifetime of love and fun. Very light blue brindles may be called lilac brindle French Bulldogs, and are fairly rare. In the case of brindle Frenchies, they are typically healthy, happy little pups whose coloration has no effect on their lives. As with all Frenchies, the brindle French Bulldog is a ton of fun to own, but there are some important considerations to make before you can decide this breed is right for your lifestyle. Brindle French Bulldog Temperament Sometimes called little clowns, French Bulldogs are goofy and mischievous, always on the hunt for something to investigate, a human to entertain, or a snack to snag from a plate. French Bulldogs can be a little stubborn and hard to train thanks to their willful sometimes absent-minded personalities. Despite a distinct independent nature, most French Bulldogs are highly food-motivated and willing to participate when offered treats. French Bulldogs are vocal and easily overstimulated, but not particularly interested in learning tasks or doing extensive exercise. Very social with humans, French Bulldogs can be a little pushy around other dogs and often require extensive socialization beyond puppyhood to enforce appropriate play and behavior. All-in-all, French Bulldogs are bright little rays of sunshine who occasionally turn into gremlins after midnight…or around 2 pm. Brindle French Bulldog Size French Bulldogs are small-medium dogs typically standing around inches tall and weighing 16—28 pounds. Brindle French Bulldog Health Unfortunately, owning a French Bulldog is often full of vet visits and expensive medical bills. A breed notorious for having a host of health problems, French Bulldog owners warn others that yearly expenses can be in the thousands, even if you are taking incredible care of your pup. In particular, French Bulldogs are prone to allergies, skin infections, vision problems, and breathing issues. Because they are brachycephalic or short-nosed they struggle to breathe in the heat, during exercise, or at high altitudes. Similarly, heat, environmental allergies, and their basic physiology can make life very uncomfortable for a French Bulldog. Other very important health concerns to be aware of include: Eye issues e. Me What exactly is a Brindle French Bulldog? You can recognize a brindle French Bulldog by light irregular streaks all over their dark base coat. The color of the brindle pattern is usually a light shade of fawn, while the base coat may vary: the standard is black but other colors like blue, chocolate and lilac are also possible. Depending on the mixture of the dark and fawn hairs, Brindle Frenchies can be very dark or very light. They usually have a black nose and dark colored eyes. Brindle is by far the oldest and most common pattern in French Bulldogs. To this day, it is one of the few accepted colors and patterns by kennel clubs along with fawn, white and pied as opposed to blue, chocolate and lilac colors. The first one has to be their funny and lovable personality! Frenchies are without the doubt one of the most social and friendliest dog breeds, who are also very smart and easy to train. Not to mention their cuddles are the best! Black brindle Frenchie puppies may also have a white chest or other small areas of white. Depending on the amount of fawn hairs, these streaks may appear either all over their bodies or on certain areas only. Blue brindle Frenchies are much more common than solid blue Frenchies, in fact the brindle patterns may appear on a blue puppy later on as they age. Blue brindle Frenchies also tend to have a white chest or other small areas of white. Pied Brindle Frenchies look the same except for the light fawn brindle patterns in the colored patches, mostly on their back. The way the patches are distributed and the proportion of the white and the other color on the coat can be quite variable from Frenchie to Frenchie. Chocolate brindle French Bulldog Chocolate brindle French Bulldogs have a chocolate brown base coat with light fawn streaks all over their bodies. The chocolate gene is considered rare in the Frenchie world so these puppies are quite unique. Reverse brindle Frenchies are much harder to come by than brindle Frenchies. Tiger brindle French Bulldog As the name suggests, tiger brindle French Bulldogs have a heavy pattern of light fawn streaks all over their dark-colored bodies, resembling the coat of a tiger. Lilac brindle French Bulldog Lilac Frenchies usually have a solid light grey coat, but sometimes light streaks may appear on them producing a lilac brindle French Bulldog. These Frenchies are very unique as their parents have to be blue and chocolate, or at least a carrier of the rare chocolate gene. Do Brindle French Bulldogs Shed? Brindle French Bulldogs, like any other Frenchie tend to shed throughout the year, more so in the spring and fall. During this period, they change their coat almost completely, replacing it with shinier, brighter and nicer fur. It's important to brush your puppy's hair at least two or three times a week using a Furminator. That will remove the undercoat that has fallen out but is still in the hair. When looking for a brindle Frenchie, you will most likely come across cheaper offers than the prices detailed above. Make sure to do your research and get your brindle Frenchie from a reputable breeder, and you will have a happy and healthy furry family member for at least a decade. But before you jump the gun, there are some things you should know about this breed that will help you make the right decision on whether this is the right pup for you. What Is a Brindle French Bulldog? A Brindle French bulldog is a rare breed with more captivating colors and patterns than a regular bulldog. Since brindle is a pattern and not a color they are in essence a patterned breed. These patterns are determined by their genes. And while several genes contribute to the brindle color, the K-Locus gene is mainly responsible. But there are several types of Brindle French Bulldogs that have distinct features and names specifically related to their pattern. They typically have a white or cream color coat with a pattern of dark patches. Blue Brindle French Bulldogs Blue Brindle Frenchies are known to have a blue grayish color coat along with a light brindle pattern. The difference here is they usually have at least one patch around their eyes. Their nose and nails are often a shade of brown while their eyes are often blue. Tiger Brindle French Bulldogs Tiger Brindles often resemble that of a tiger with their dark color coat and dense pattern of white hair. These lighter colors can sometimes go unnoticed, and they can be mistaken for one color bulldogs. Are Brindle French Bulldogs Purebred? According to the AKC, acceptable colors include fawn, white, brindle, and brindle and white. The reason they are on the more expensive side is that French Bulldogs are often difficult to breed. So pups are delivered via C-Section. Which adds to the expenses. Because Brindle French Bulldogs are so rare, you should do your research and consider all of your options before you purchase one. Breeders have to be careful when delivering these pups because of the common health-related issues that comes with them as well as common delivery problems that come with C-sections. You want to be weary of any breeder looking to make a quick buck and get rid of their puppies as soon as possible. Breeders within the program have been recognizes as being formal and precise when screening and breeding their pups. On average, Brindle French Bulldogs typically live anywhere from years. This is likely due to the number of health-related issues that are common to the breed. Common Health Problems of a Brindle French Bulldog The decision to get a French Bulldog is not one that should be taken lightly due to their complicated history with genetic health conditions. Other common health-related problems include: Allergies. Brindle relates to a specific patterning that can appear on a Frenchie. In order for the Brindle pattern to appear a certain set of genetics need to be present this is located in the K Locus. Brindle Rottweiler: Meet the Rare T.Also with it being a dominant gene it is not a rare sight to see a Frenchie with Brindling although some colors do mask this. What Colors can a Brindle French Bulldog be? This is the combination which you will see most often on a French Bulldog and is also the most common combination seen. There are however a number of other colors that can have a Brindle effect. This requires the dilution gene which lightens the base coat color. This is often referred to as the Blue gene and is found in the D Locus. Due to this being a recessive gene it is much rarer and requires both parents to pass on the coloring. The Brindling effect on a Blue coat will lead to lighter and darker shades of Blue throughout. Breeders often try to avoid the Brindle pattern but it is highly popular with pet owners due to the beautiful patterns it can produce. Reverse Brindle French Bulldog Reverse Brindle relates to a phenomenon where the Brindle effect appears to be in reverse due to larger areas of lighter color. Whilst this would appear as though it would be down to separate genetics it is no different to a regular Brindle. The amount of Brindle appearing on a dog can vary wildly which leads to some being described as Reverse Brindle. Whilst these parts of the Frenchie will not be Brindle it does not stop the rest of the coat from showing the Brindle effect. This can result in the darker areas of coat being Brindle with White areas. This can create a very unique look in that there are patterned spotted areas on a most white dog. Similar to other shades these can also be affected by the brindle pattern. You will however be able to note brindling of the Lilac coloring. This relates to the Brown gene also known as Testable Chocolate and the Cocoa gene. These are very similar in looks and the only way to tell the difference is usually through a DNA test. You should expect to see lighter shades of chocolate mixed in with darker in this coloring. A standard brindle Frenchie is likely to be the cheapest type of French Bulldog available. Once you start mixing in rarer colors the price is likely to rise but still be below there non brindle versions. This is due to Brindle being undesirable in the eyes of a number of breeders who are breeding purely for coloring. The below gives an idea of the prices you should expect to see from a reputable breeder. However if they were crossbred then it is perfectly reasonable that those offspring could also be Brindle. It is therefore important if you want certainty to look at the lineage and you can also find out more information through DNA testing. They were originally bred from the English Bulldog breed and were referred to as Toy Bulldogs. It was the lace industry cantered around Nottingham where they were at the height of popularity. They were largely migrated to France along with the lace industry itself where they were renamed Bouledogue Francais. From here they were popularised and often referred to in tandem with the nightlife of Paris at the turn of the 20th Century. There are many iconic images of women working in Parisian Brothels accompanied by their French Bulldogs and it was captured within postcards of the time. Eventually the popularity of this breed began to spread worldwide and has been popular amongst a range of people. They were once the pet of choice of Tatiana Romanov of the Russian Royal Family and there is even one recorded as going down sadly on the titanic. Whilst good breeding can alleviate some of the issues below is a list of common health problems, how to spot them and manage them if possible. Allergies Whilst not unique to Frenchies they are known to suffer more than other breeds. Also it can show through watery eyes, ear infections or sneezing. If you suspect allergy issues it is best to discuss with a vet around possible treatments. This usually results in snoring and noisy breathing. It can however lead to retching, regurgitaion and vomiting and it certainly lowers their tolerance to heat. Skin Fold Dermatitis Whilst we love their wrinkles and skinfolds it can lead to issues within these folds. Ear Infections Due to the shape of the French Bulldog they can have issues in keeping their ears clean. Often these areas become breeding grounds for bacteria. In order to clean them the first rule is not to put anything inside the ear, this often just compacts any dirt within the ear. It is best to use an ear cleaner to break down the dirt. Corneal Ulcers As a result of the eyes standing more predominately on their face they are at risk of eye issues. They can also be born with small amounts of tissue sticking out of their eye. This often results in back pain and sometimes slipped discs. Often these issues will display themselves later in life and it is best to consult a vet. Post navigation.

Also, these dogs can occasionally become a little stubborn, and as frustrating as that is, the best way to move past this may be to change up what it is you are doing and try to turn the activity into a game for your dog. Ideally, you should brush them at least once or twice a week to remove any loose hair from their coat. When it comes to bathing, it is best to limit their baths to when they need it. Box-a-Shars should also have their teeth brushed once or twice a week with a canine toothpaste, their ears checked for obstructions regularly, and their nails clipped every other month to prevent them from growing too long and breaking. They are patient, gentle with children, and like rough playing with older members of the family. These facts make Boxpeis a great addition to any family, whether the family includes adults, children, or teenagers. With that being said, socialization is really important for any dog. If you socialize the Boxpei early, it will be more likely to get along with every member of the family. Even though Boxpeis tend to be a very gentle breed, that does not mean that an individual dog will not act aggressively to a child that is pestering it. At the same time, make sure that you teach your child how to play with dogs respectfully and appropriately. In addition to being great family dogs, Boxpeis tend to be really great with other animals as well. When it comes to other dogs, they are much more friendly than other breeds of its size. For best results, get puppies at the same time so that the two dogs grow up together. For cats and other small animals, the Boxpei is likely to get along with them too. Once again, socialization with cats and other animals is an important step to ensuring your Boxpei gets along with them. This is true in terms of exercise, training, and grooming, though they do eat a lot. Because of their large size, you need to fuel them with the right amount and type of food. Make sure to always provide your Boxpei a lot of water. Should a Boxer Mix take after their Boxer parent, they will be a playful, energetic, and friendly dog that loves their family and loves being active with them. Boxers are known for their energetic and exuberant personalities. They bond closely with their families, tend to have a cheerful disposition, and also tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Although they are friendly dogs, they do have the instinct to protect their families. If the other parent breed has similar traits, then you should be able to expect a similar temperament in a Boxer Mix. Asking the breeder about the other parent breed in the mix is a good start. You can also meet the mother dog to get a feel for her temperament and to see what behavior she is modeling for her puppies. Although the breeder should be socializing puppies while they have them, it is up to you to continue training and socializing a puppy once you get them home. Boxers are moderately adaptable dogs. Because of their energy, they tend to do better in homes with yards where they can run. But, they can adapt to apartments as long as they get exercise and mental stimulation throughout the day. Although all dogs are sensitive to heat, the Boxer is even more so because of their short snout. And, because they bond so closely with their families, they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. The other parent breed could introduce some traits that could affect the adaptability of a Boxer Mix, so you do want to ask the breeder about them. Since reputable breeders screen their dogs to avoid passing issues on to puppies, they should be able to answer your questions. Despite their high energy, Boxers are highly trainable dogs that can be a good fit for owners of any experience level. Because they are intelligent, they pick up on things quickly and can get bored easily. But, they are eager to please their owners and tend to respond well to training. The other parent breed could make a Boxer Mix even easier to train or more difficult to train. You want to make sure you ask the breeder about the other parent breed so you know what range of trainability to expect. A Boxer Mix can end up with a coat similar to one of their parents or a coat that is a combination of both of them. Monthly nail trims are usually enough to keep nails from growing too long. Ears should be dry, clean, and free of debris or pests. Unfortunately, many dog owners overlook dental care, which is why gum disease is one of the most common health issues in dogs. The Boxer is a high-energy dog breed. Daily walks plus playtime and other activities should be enough for this dog. However, they will likely be up for more activity if you are. If the other parent breed is also a high-energy dog breed, then you can expect a Boxer Mix to also be a high-energy dog. However, this is a potential range, so you will still need to be prepared to deal with a Boxer Mix that is high-energy. A Boxer usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds.
