What makes us "Professional Hobby" breeder? We take every decision very seriously. We have great pride in the quality of dogs we own and even more in the ones we produce. We focus on Health and Temperament first. Our main goal is to continue to create a better Bulldogge. Our breeding stock has been chosen with a specific plan on how each dog can help us to maintain our high standards and get us closer to our goals. We keep puppies back from every breeding and these dogs are scrutinized from birth. We have a very clear vision of what a bulldog should be and what role we play in this as breeders. We are responsible to ourselves first. We are very passionate about what we do. One of our favorite things is showing off our dogs or just talking to anyone about them. All our dogs are raised in the house with the entire family helping. We have four children ages 6 to 13 and they are heavily involved in all the dog activities from birth to whelping to general cleaning up :. The socialization and temperament of the Olde English Bulldogge is by far the most attractive thing about this breed. They are a perfect breed for a family setting with a busy life style. They are able to handle the New England weather in both the summer and the winter. They have a great temperament and not shy whatsoever, they are easy to play with and always have a desire to please. They are proud, determined and protective at all times. Latest Breeding. They should be either black, brindle or seal with white markings. The AKC says they are highly intelligent and very easily trained. The average life span of a Boston Terrier is around 11 to 13 years. Hooper of Boston purchased from Edward Burnett a dog named Judge known later as Hooper's Judge , which was of a bull and terrier type lineage. Hooper's Judge is directly related to the original bull and terrier breeds of the 19th and early 20th centuries. Judge was bred to Burnett's Gyp or Kate. Gyp was a white bulldog-type female, owned by Edward Burnett, of Southboro, Massachusetts. She weighed about 20 pounds 9. From this foundation of the breed, subsequent breeders refined the breed into its modern-day presentation. By the breed had become sufficiently popular in Boston that fanciers formed the American Bull Terrier Club, the breed's nickname, "roundheads". Shortly after, at the suggestion of James Watson a noted writer and authority , the club changed its name to the Boston Terrier Club and in it was admitted to membership in the American Kennel Club, thus making it the first US breed to be recognized. The Boston Terrier was the first non-sporting dog breed in the US. In the early years, the color and markings were not very important to the breed's standard. By the 20th century the breed's distinctive markings and color were written into the standard, becoming an essential feature. The Boston Terrier has lost most of its aggressive nature, preferring the company of humans, although some males will still challenge other dogs if they feel their territory is being invaded. Boston University has used Rhett the Boston Terrier as their mascot since .It has a square-looking head with erect ears and a slightly arched neck. The muzzle is short and generally wrinkle -free, with an even or a slightly undershot bite. The chest is broad and the tail is short. Boston Terriers usually stand up to 15—17 inches — mm at the withers. According to the American Kennel Club, the Boston Terrier's markings are broken down into two categories: Required, which consists of a white chest, white muzzle band, and a white band between the eyes; and Desired, which includes the Required markings plus a white collar, white on the forelegs, forelegs , up to the hocks on the rear legs. The breed's round eyes are set widely apart, are large in size, and located squarely in the skull. Boston Terriers are generally eager to please their owner and can be easily trained. The breed requires only a minimal amount of grooming. They are not considered terriers by the American Kennel Club, however, but are part of the non-sporting group. Due to their shortened muzzles, many Boston Terriers cannot tolerate excessively hot or cold weather and demanding exercise under such conditions can cause them harm. A sensitive digestive system is also typical of Boston Terriers with flatulence commonly being associated with poor diet in the breed. Due to the breed being characterized by a short muzzle paired with a large pair of eyes, their eyes are susceptible to injury when making contact with sand, dust, debris, or sharp objects, such as plants with thorns. Eye drops are vet recommended to help slow or prevent this condition. Bostons may be prone to snoring and reverse sneeze —a rapid and repeated forced inhalation through the nose—accompanied by snorting or gagging sounds used to clear the palate of mucus, which does not harm the dog if it does not last for more than 1—2 minutes. Grooming[ edit ] With a short, shiny, smooth coat, Boston Terriers require little grooming. Overgrown nails also have the potential to tear off after getting snagged on something. The breed is increasingly popular in dog agility competitions, obedience training , rally obedience , tracking, dock diving , flyball , weight-pulling, barn hunting and lure coursing. Army awarded a gold medal to an honorable war dog: Sergeant Stubby. Army-making him the first dog to ever earn it. Those who share this version of the story consider the Olde Boston Bulldogge as the original Boston Bulldog, a dog resulting from the cross between Bulldogs and Terriers in the s and bred for pest control, guarding, but also for companionship. The most accepted version of the facts considers the Boston Bulldog as a crossbreed, a hybrid dog that is half Boston Terrier, half English Bulldog. While the origin of this crossbreed is unknown, it probably originated in the Boston area, in Massachusetts USA in the early s for fighting and hunting purposes. The English Bulldog Hailing from the United Kingdom, English Bulldogs were originally bred as fighting dogs for bullbaiting and bull-holding. When these cruel activities were banned in the early 19th century, the breed was developed to create a more affectionate and non-aggressive dog that turned into a popular pet and mascot among the British. The breed has been recognised in the end of the 19th century by the American Kennel Club and the first dogs being mixed were from Boston, thus the breed designation. Once bred to be pit fighter dogs, Boston Terriers are now considered friendly and gentle pets. They make great therapy dogs and excel in sports, such as agility and obedience. Boston Bulldogs have short, fine, and soft hair that comes in a variety of colors, including brown, black, white, red, fawn, and tuxedo a color pattern occurring when dogs are one color, with a white patch on the chest, chin, and feet. Being a small to medium-sized dog, the Boston Bulldog weighs between 9 and 16 kg lbs and are 38 to 46 cm inches tall. Females are smaller and lighter than the males. Boston Bulldogs are really nice to be around, being affectionate, calm, and lovable dogs, quite intelligent and adaptable too. They are very good with children, having a stable character and playful attitude, without the yappy tendencies of their smaller Terrier relatives. As puppies, they are quite energetic, demanding a lot of attention, but their liveliness tends to decrease with age. They are devoted to their owners and while active, they easily adapt to different lifestyles. Boston Bulldogs are loyal dogs, with a curious and interesting personality, that combine the best of their parent breeds in terms of temperament. They also make good watchdogs, as they are alert to their environment. Always happy, the Boston Bulldog comes as a great choice as a pet, one to be included in all family activities. Trainability People-oriented, loyal, and intelligent, Boston Bulldogs gather all the traits that make a dog easy to train. In fact, they learn very quickly, obeying cues easily and responding well to training. They can be somewhat sensitive, so the best training method includes a kind, but firm and consistent approach. Sticking to rules is important, as these dogs like to know what is expected of them, as to comply and get the desired praise and attention they crave. Likewise, socialisation is important. Because his ancestors were bred to be fighting dogs, the Boston Bulldog needs to be exposed to positive interactions with other animals from an early age in order to end up as the best version of himself — a sociable and friendly dog towards others. Health Boston Bulldogs are generally healthy with a life expectancy of 12 to 15 years. Unlike his Bulldog relatives, the Boston Bulldog does not suffer from breathing issues and enjoy better health than both his parent breeds. Due to a sensitive skin and the presence of skin folds which may recreate a favourable habitat for bacterial proliferation , they may develop skin problems, including infections. This crossbreed is also sensitive to extreme weather conditions, being susceptible to suffer from heatstroke in hot climates. They are also prone to flatulence, which, while not a major health concern, may come as a nuisance. The major health concerns linked to this crossbreed are: Eye Issues Cataracts, which cloud the lens of the eye, causing impaired vision, and glaucoma, an eye condition caused by abnormally high pressure in the eye and optic nerve damage, are among the most common. Heart Problems Congestive heart failure due to mitral valve insufficiency translates into the inability of the heart to pump blood adequately and is a health issue that may be inherited from the Boston Terrier parent. Exercise and Activity Levels Boston Bulldogs are quite adaptable and do not need a lot of exercise, nor do they have high activity levels. Of course, being playful dogs, Boston Bulldogs will be the happiest in homes where their owners actively interact and play with them, regardless of the type of game or activity. As long as their owners engage with them, they will be content. Just remember that as puppies, Boston Bulldogs require a lot more attention and exercise to burn off all their energy. As they grow old, however, they will gladly curl up on the couch and ditch the exercise, being mostly inactive indoors. They do well in different settings — apartment or house, urban or rural — given they are protected from extreme weather conditions. Grooming Boston Bulldogs tend to shed quite a bit, so weekly brushing is recommended. Regardless, they are very low-maintenance and their coat is easy to groom. Because they have skin folds on their faces and body that are prone to develop irritation if not aired and kept dry, it is important to ensure these folds are clean, free from dirt or dead skin cells, and dry at all times. The same applies to their ears, which are also folded and may accumulate debris, creating a hot and humid environment that may lead to ear infections. Keeping their ears clean and dry, checking them regularly, is therefore a must. Frequent baths are not recommended. Boston Bulldogs should only take a bath when really necessary and using a hypoallergenic shampoo, as they have a sensitive skin. When in need of cleaning, using a soft damp cloth or towel is a good option, which can also be used for cleaning the folds and ears, making sure they are left dry afterwards. Boston Bulldogs will generally be happy to be groomed, especially when they have a consistent routine. Teeth brushing and nail clipping should also be part of their cleaning habits. I have carefully selected my breeding stock our family pets from countries all over the world. By choosing animals from all corners of the earth I have created my own individual outstanding purebred lines. In my quest to create my breeding stock I looked for versatility in each blood line. I looked at the temperament and personality in each individual dog. I wanted a variety of coat colors from bright white to light cream, but the individual animals genetic makeup and overall personality was the most important to me. I searched records to see how long different bloodlines lived because I wanted my puppies to live long healthy. I looked for animals that moved with grace and stood proud. I wanted beauty and poise. I wanted to produce puppies that would only enhance the English Cream Golden Retriever breed. I wanted my animals to create their own legacy. We promise that the puppy has been loved by us and handled numerous times every day in a loving way. We promise we have done everything that we could think of to ensure that your puppy will be a happy well balanced individual. We promise to tell you everything about his personality that we are aware of. We promise all of this is to the best of our knowledge. Our English Cream Golden Retrievers are members of our family. We love them, we play with them, we camp with them, we swim with them. Some of them want to sit on us, and want us to hold them like we did when they were 10 pounds. But now they are 85 pounds. We laugh at them, we laugh with them, we talk with them, and they talk to us. They walk beside us, not in front of us. We teach them right from wrong and their world falls apart at the first "No". Some of us dress them up in silly stuff and they wear it all day without a complaint, some of us tie there ears together with a hair tie to make them look like a bunny. And they rather like it. We go to them with tears in our eyes and they listen. Sometimes they stand or sit besides us for hours just to see if we need them. They are never ever mean to us, they never get mad at us, they will listen to what is bothering us when no one else has time. They prance and their tails wag every time we glance at them. They love us so very much. They have baskets of toys here, there, and everywhere. They have daily contests to see who can hold the most toys in their mouths. They love to play fetch with us. They are our pride and our joy and I do not know how we could live without them. We now offer shipping in the USA and Canada! The most likely reason your french bulldog cries at night is because they are feeling anxious. As mentioned, French bulldogs are prone to exhibiting this behavior when they are becoming acclimated to their new home. This plays into the separation anxiety, but could also be their way of telling you that you two need to spend more time together. You might need to give them some dedicated play time and cuddles before you go to bed. This can help tire them out so they can sleep the night away in peace, but can also offer them a sense of comfort if they have to be home alone for some time due to people being at work or school. Chances are, your Frenchie is going to cry pretty often as a puppy. This is partially because they are still learning how to communicate. They are also still learning to understand what life is like without their mom and other puppies they were raised with. One of the hardest aspects of training your Frenchie out of crying at night is trying to avoid giving into them each time they cry. A strategy that can help is to take your Frenchie outside when they are crying a lot at night. This will teach them that their nighttime crying will only get them potty time, so they will learn to only cry when they have to go outside. You can still crate train them without closing the door if you find they calm down with it still open. This can include a soft bed, a couple of toys they seem to love, and even a comfort object such as one of your shirts. Having something with your scent in their crate offers them a sense of security, especially at night. Having their crate close by where you sleep can also help them feel safer in their crate. As your French bulldog gets older and acclimates to you and your home, you can consider moving their crate to another area of the home, or setting them up in a bed in your room or just outside of your room. You can choose to let them sleep with you, but there are a few reasons why that might not suit you. However, there are ways to mitigate how often your French Bulldog cries during the night above and beyond crate training them. These are quite needy dogs, preferring the company of humans over just about anything. This time should include being fed, a walk, some playing with toys or cuddling together, and a final bathroom break before they climb into bed. They might still cry occasionally, but it should subside over time. French bulldogs can be really tough to sleep with in your bed. They can make a lot of noise, take up a lot of space, and they tend to shed and drool. Final Thoughts Constantly worrying and asking yourself why does my French bulldog cry at night can be overwhelming. Establishing a nighttime routine for you and your French bulldog will help tremendously in helping them feel more comfortable at night. To be honest, it was heart-wrenching and tiring, but it is an essential part of them adapting to your home as well as their crate training. The bottom line is; French Bulldog puppies do cry when they are taken from their mother and siblings, and they will cry in the crate for some time. You need to weather the storm, accept the lack of sleep, and persevere with it. In this guide I am take you through the steps to cope with the whining and crying, whilst you get your new Frenchie puppy settled into his new home and crate training routine. But first, just a little bit about Frenchies and crying. Why do French Bulldogs cry? They will cry for attention, when they want feeding, or if they need to go to the toilet. It is also related to separation anxiety read more on this when left alone. It can sometimes look a red or brown color, seeping from their eyes. Eye allergies: An allergic reaction can also lead to watery discharge from their eyes, which can look like tears and crying. French Bulldog puppies are even bigger criers, particularly in the first 4 weeks you have them at their new home. Frenchie puppies will also cry when you first start them getting used to sleeping and staying in their crate. Do French Bulldogs cry tears? French Bulldogs do have tear ducts, but they work in a very different way to human ones. Rather than the tears running from their eyes, the actually drain back into the nasal cavity… which is why blocked tear ducts result in what look like tears. Do French Bulldogs Scream? Some Frenchies can make a whining and howling noise that does sound like a human scream, or even a baby screaming in some cases. When we bought our Frenchie home for the first time, he made a few screaming sounds on the first few nights. Not all of them will do this though as each dog will have their own tone of voice and mannerisms… I did find a Frenchie screaming on YouTube which is a great example. Do French bulldogs cry at night? French Bulldogs do cry at night when you first bring them home. Now let me share with you steps you can take to stop your French bulldog whining in their crate, no matter what their age. Firstly, why is your French bulldog puppy crying in his crate? There are a number of reasons, including: Your Frenchie is lonely: This is a classic crying scenario when dogs are used to being with their owner and are shut in a crate when you go out. Your Frenchie is scared: Older or rescue dogs can have negative connotations connected to the crate. Your Frenchie needs the toilet: Or it could be as simple as them needing to pee or possibly even vomit here are reasons why Frenchies can be sick. Please Note: French Bulldog puppies will cry in their crate for at least the first few days you have them. The steps below are best applied when the crying is problematic and longer term. Make the crate experience a positive and comfortable one To stop your French Bulldog puppy crying at night, make the crate as great an experience as you can. For example, you might want to place some interesting toys in there here are toys Frenchies love , make it cosy with blankets, and leave an appealing treat in there. At this stage in their life, puppies will start to teeth and hanker for anything chewable they can get their jaws around. Kong toys are great for this, and you can see which ones work really well in on this teething toys page. You should also try building up positive associations with the crate, and some puppy owners like to let theirs feed in there. Also place something that smells like you in there — it could be a cushion or a t-shirt with your scent on. But, by having the crate close to you during the puppy months, it does mean you will be alerted when they need a potty break. Use the right-sized crate When crate shopping, I always suggest going larger than you need because it can then be their crate and bed for life. Puppies need room to be able to move around, stand up, and turn to let them be comfortable and not feel caged. Make sure your Frenchie goes to the toilet first To really help minimize your French bulldog crying in his crate, make sure their bladder is as empty as possible before sleep time. However, with puppies, they will need the toilet constantly, and I remember this time with our Frenchie very well. Every hour I would take him out of the crate at night and take into our back-yard patio area. You can still expect some accidents though, which is why puppy pads are so essential. Again, you can buy puppy pads on Amazon — they are cheap when bought in bulk. Tire your Frenchie puppy out before crate time An over-excited puppy will not sleep and will cry more in his crate at night if he still has excess energy to burn. Frenchie puppies can tire really quickly, so it could just be a short walk out back or a game of tug of war. Older dogs will have more energy to burn, so give them a run out for 20 minutes before crate time. If you go to the crate every time he cries or whines, you are just reinforcing the behavior, and making him know you will always come and let him out. The difference between crying for attention and crying for the toilet But how do you know which cry is which? Over a week or so, your puppy should learn that crying gives him the toilet and nothing else. As frustrating as your French bulldog crying at night will be, never scold them. If your Frenchie is crying due to anxiety and fear, yelling will not help. Yes, he might stop crying in the short-term, but only because he is scared. The minute you do will put you back to square on. Conclusion Finally, if you cannot put a finger on why your French Bulldog is crying, and have ruled out the possibilities in this guide, please do consult with your vet. Frenchies are susceptible to a wide range of health problems listed all here and it could be a physical or behavioral issue. This is an all-too-common problem for new puppy owners. Be sure to check out our complete crate training guide if you are just getting started with this process! The good news is, your dog is not actively trying to make you lose sleep or get you evicted! That said, there are a variety of reasons that dogs bark or cry in the crate. Luckily, the treatment for most of these underlying reasons is the same. Reasons why your dog might be crying in the crate include: Your dog is lonely. These dogs usually will settle eventually, but may start crying again whenever you move around. Your dog is bored. Crates can be a pretty boring place. Dogs that give steady barks at everything throughout the day are likely bored and need some stimulation. Your dog is scared. Some dogs are ok being away from you but are scared of the crate. They might not like the feeling of being confined. Your dog needs to get out of the crate. Almost all dogs that cry in the crate want to get out of the crate. But sometimes, a dog needs to get out of the crate. If your dog is normally quiet in the crate but suddenly starts to cry, look for a reason why. All of the reasons above are perfectly normal crate-training problems that can be fairly easily overturned with a bit of training and management. This is very different from true separation anxiety. Dogs with separation anxiety are thrown into a full-on panic when left alone. These dogs will need long-term management, training, and even dog anxiety medication to help with their condition. Dogs with separation anxiety need training and help. Talk to a trainer or veterinary behaviorist if you think your dog has separation anxiety — and make sure to check out our Separation Anxiety Training Plan too! Punishment gives a bored dog attention. Even negative attention could be a reward for the dog. Many dogs cry in the crate for attention, just like kids do. There are some better options for teaching your dog not to cry in the crate. How to Teach a Dog Not to Cry in the Crate Luckily, there are lots of things to work on to help stop your dog from crying in the crate. Many of these fixes are small things to change that can make a big difference for your crying, crated fur-baby. Crate training works best when you set up the crate properly. Leave treats in the crate. You can distract your dog by giving him stuffed, frozen Kongs in his plastic or wire crate. This easy fix will really help! I have four or five stuffed Kongs in my freezer at all times. That way I can just chuck a Kong in the crate with Barley whenever I run out for errands! Freezing them makes them last a lot longer. Feed dinner in the crate. I like to feed dogs dinner in the crate. Instead of putting their bowl on the kitchen floor, I just feed dinner in the crate. You can either feed the dogs their dinner when you leave in the crate, or you can let the dog out after dinner. Either way, this is an easy way to start building a good association between your dog and the crate! Put toys in the crate. My dog is a total squeaky toy nut, so at first, I kept his toys in the crate. He was rewarded for going into the crate by a quick bout of play. It was great to see him start to actually want to go into the crate on his own! Make the crate comfy. Make sure the crate is comfy with a comfortable crate mat , a safe chew toy, and something that smells like you! Ensure the crate is the right size. The crate has to fit the dog correctly. Your dog should have room to turn around and stand up comfortably, but not much more than that! Place the crate in a common area. A simple fix for these dogs is to put the crate in your bedroom at night, near the bed. They build up to that level of independence. Some trainers recommend playing crate training games to help your dog learn that the crate is a great place to be. I no longer recommend this because it may teach your dog that being in the crate is exciting, and we want the crate to be a relaxing place instead. This is especially true for teenage dogs around 6 to 18 months old. Be sure to give your dog an age- and breed-appropriate amount of exercise before even attempting to put him in the crate. For a young puppy, this might just mean running around the backyard for a few minutes. As a benchmark, my five-year-old border collie generally gets a three to ten-mile run or a twenty-minute nosework session before I leave for work. No wonder I lost weight when I adopted him! Most adult dogs will need at least a 20 to minute walk before being left in the crate. Check out our list of games to play with your dog and suggestions for activity walks to get ideas for how to properly tire out your pup. We can teach our dogs that crying in the crate gets them a potty break — and nothing else. In a way, yes. So rather than attempting to ignore your crying puppy for five hours, I want you to take your puppy out when he cries in the crate. Stand outside in one place for two minutes, tops. Just wait. If he potties, give him a treat and go inside and put him back in the crate. No talking, no playing. Just a quiet, quick potty break. This method has several major benefits for teaching dogs not to cry in the crate: It teaches your dog what to do and how to get what he needs. You avoid the risk of breaking down and letting your dog out after hours of crying which teaches your dog to cry for hours. Should you squirt your dog with water when he cries? Should you ignore him? Or should you take him out on a potty break? Whatever method you choose, stick with it. I recommend teaching your puppy that crying gets him a boring potty break. That said, if the cry-it-out method is working for you, be consistent with it. Leaving your pup for longer than he can handle. This means that you might need to get help with crate training at first to let your puppy out often enough. Teaching your puppy that crying gets attention. Ensure that you stick to the plan of taking your puppy directly outside, totally ignoring him for two minutes, and taking him directly back to the crate. Anything extra might teach your puppy that crying in the crate gets him playtime, affection, or attention! Some dogs cry it out for hours, every night, for weeks. This method is far more humane for you and your dog. Are you giving your pup enough exercise? Does he have a frozen Kong to chew on? Are you leaving him for too long? When working with dogs that have a really bad time in the crate, you may have a long road ahead of you. Go back to the basics of step one and two. Could you be using something else for the same goal? Some fantastic alternatives to crate training include: Exercise Pens. Indoor dog gates can be used to safely confine your dog to a small subsection of the house, like a laundry room or bathroom. Opt for a room with easy-to-clean flooring that still gives your pup more space to feel comfortable. This provides all the safety and contaiment benefits of a crate, but without a bulky cage! If you need to stick it out through crate training but are really struggling, consider a dog walker or doggie daycare. You may want to also consider adding frozen Kongs, chews, or licking mats that can help soothe your dog while inside the crate. How long should you let puppy cry in crate? Should I let my puppy cry in crate at night? If your dog is consistently crying in the crate at night, try adding extra physical exercise and mental enrichment before putting the pup in the crate for the night. Also try moving the crate next to your bed, as some pups are much more comfortable when they are physically closer to you. Should I let my puppy cry it out? No, we do not recommend letting your puppy cry it out. Some dogs will never stop crying for days, weeks, or months if you ignore them because they are in a state of extreme distress. Like it? Share it! It just means that he is looking for something. He wants attention Frenchies are a very social dog breed, and that means that he needs pretty much constant attention. The same goes for your bed. Stay tuned for tips on how to deal with this. Right in the feels, huh? He will then make it his mission to cheer you up through bringing you his favorite toys, curling up on your lap and licking your face, and generally being as kind and loving as humanly — er, dogly — possible so that you have no choice but to feel better. French Bulldogs are notorious for eating anything in sight, so this can be especially challenging for those pet parents swayed by those classic puppy dog eyes and pout! This cry, after some time, will become distinct from all other cries so that you will know what he needs when he comes crying to you. There are times that, yes, French Bulldogs can cry actual tears. While crying in Frenchies usually refers to the vocal whining or even screaming stay tuned , Frenchies are capable of producing actual tears just like humans. However, unlike humans, those tears usually mean something a little different. Allergies French Bulldogs are known for being especially sensitive to allergies. If your pooch has got some tears pooling in his eyes or streaking down his furry face, he could be dealing with a flare-up of allergies. Understanding what he is allergic to, and how to treat it, will help you dry up those tears in no time. Blocked tear ducts Your Frenchie can be dealing with blocked tear ducts for a few reasons, two of which are pollutants or allergies. When this happens, his tears will stream freely from his eyes and often take on a red or brown color. In this case, a trip to your vet is going to be a must to get him back to his normal snuffly self. Do French Bulldogs Scream? You may find out the hard and heart-stopping way that Frenchies are capable of screaming. Not whining or howling, not whimpering or barking, but screaming. This is exactly as it sounds, and it can often make humans come running as soon as your Frenchie belts one out. This, of course, is precisely why he does it! Knowing how to deal with your noisy and devious Frenchie will be important in running your life as smoothly as possible. You may notice that your French Bulldog also cries as soon as you put him in his crate. Since crate training is an important part of training your Frenchie properly , this can be a huge pain for Frenchie owners. After all, a crying pup is always distressing, and it can also be amping up your stress levels which amp up his, too. Ready for that to change? Here are some real tips to help you out, regardless of why your Frenchie is crying. Once you figure out these differences, you can start to deal with them. Since Frenchies are so social, he may just be lonely and missing you! Only give in to the bathroom-related cries This can be challenging. Like, super challenging. Of course, he needs you! But you can be smarter. Take him to the bathroom and then straight back to his cage with no cuddles or playtime. Final Thoughts Just like kids, the behavior that you use in giving in to his crying and screaming is just going to reinforce that it works, which can be harder to relearn and teach. Not exactly a good thing for anyone involved. Always be patient with them as they learn the rules and get used to how you operate. Peter Achachi - July 2, French bulldogs are friendly and make one of the best companions one would ever have for a pet. They are playful, friendly, and you can carry them around all day. But why you may wonder, why does my French bulldog cry at night? Well, the endless whining from your Frenchie at night can be unsettling. We are going to help you understand why your Frenchie cries a lot at night. Read on to discover why your French bulldog cries at night, and what you can do about it. Young Frenchies Young puppies are prone to crying at night. Primarily, they suffer from separation anxiety — being detached from her mom, litter-mates, and breeder. Secondly, being a Frenchie, company means the world to them. And while night loneliness cuts across all age groups for French bulldogs, the early years are particularly lonely. This loneliness becomes even more apparent during the night, especially if you are training them to sleep in a crate or a separate bed. Old Frenchies For Frenchies, old age kicks in when they are about six years old. And when that happens, health conditions such as dementia may affect them. One of the first signs of dementia is disturbances in their sleep, which make them restless and leads to crying at night. When Communicating Needs Aside from the obvious need to eat, drink, and do potty that Frenchies are known to communicate by crying, other issues such as extreme silence may bother them. The night crying may also be to communicate pain, the need for attention, or any uncomfortable feeling they get from the night-time environment. They are adapting to a new environment, and the crying may persist up to the fourth week before they can adjust. You can supply them with chew toys in their crates to keep them busy and distracted. Soft music can also help them cope with loneliness. If you suspect they are crying to communicate a need for food, warmth, or water, then you must provide for their obvious needs before you retire to bed. Often, the crying at night is just their way of crying for attention, or saying they want to join you in bed. However, you want to be careful when making that decision for two reasons. One, the habit of sharing a bed with your frenchie, can be difficult to untrain once they get used to it. Two, French bulldogs snore, toss restlessly in their sleep, and fart a lot when asleep. If you are okay with such animal behavior, then let them enjoy your bed. What is your experience of sharing your bed with your frenchie at night? Please let us know in the comments section below.

Where do German Shepherds come from? Are they only available from German Shepherd breeders near Long Island? The German Shepherd is one of the most popular breeds of dog in the world. Originating in Germany over a century ago, this breed is known for its intelligence, obedience, and protectiveness. The most intelligent and responsive local shepherd dogs were bred together to create what we know today as the German Shepherd. They are responsible for herding sheep and protecting flocks from predators. Are German Shepherds smart? German Shepherds are one of the smartest dog breeds and they're considered to be the third-smarter breed, according to a recent study. They're very intelligent dogs that need a lot of training if you want them to behave well. Without proper training, German Shepherds may become disobedient instead of obedient. How fast can German Shepherds run? German Shepherds are some of the fastest dogs out there. They can run as fast as 30 miles per hour, but they usually only run that fast for a short period of time. They're also really good at running long distances, up to 15 miles per hour. That means if you see one of these dogs out on a walk, it's best to keep an eye on them and try not to let them get away. But in Canada and the United States, Labs continued to be a top choice of hunters to retrieve ducks , geese, and other hunted waterfowl. Some even believe that these rare red dogs may have been culled, or killed, in order to keep them out of breeding lines. Labrador Retrievers have been a popular choice of dog for over one hundred years now. Although some hunters still use Labs for their retrieval skills, most Labradors are companions, family dogs, or other types of working dogs. Fortunately, this shift in their use has allowed Labs with other coat colors to become more common. Unfortunately, some of these coat colors remain cloaked in controversy. The Controversial Red Fox Labrador Labrador Retrievers come in a variety of colors, some of which are more officially accepted than others. This very clearly leaves out the Silver Labrador and the White Labrador, both of which do exist and can be highly sought after. Both silver labs and white labs are very controversial amongst Labrador Retriever purists, the major breed registries, and judges at dog shows. There are even some who refuse to acknowledge the Fox Red Labrador as a purebred Lab. These naysayers argue that the Fox Red Labrador is actually the result of breeding a Lab with another breed, namely a Vizsla or a Rhodesian Ridgeback. However, this has been proven false over and over again. If you plan on showing your Yellow Labrador Retriever in any discipline, then you may prefer to find a Labrador with a more traditional, lighter shade of yellow, rather than a dark yellow or the darker shade of the fox red color. They are large dogs , who usually end up weighing anywhere from 55 to 80 pounds, and standing around 24 inches in height. Female Labradors are typically smaller than male Labradors, though not by much. As previously mentioned, the most common colors for Labradors are black, chocolate, and yellow, though red, silver, and white are also popular. Purebred Labrador Retrievers are almost always one solid color, with no white markings. Though Red Fox Labradors are sometimes confused with dogs of the Vizsla breed, Labradors usually have shorter ears and stockier bodies than the popular Hungarian dog. Most Fox Red Labs are eager to please their human companions. They are very loyal, and enjoy being with their humans whether the activity is playing or cuddling. Properly socialized Labs are usually very gentle with cats and other small animals, too. Along with Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers are some of the most commonly used working dogs. They are often trained for police work, or as service dogs or therapy dogs. The prominence of Labradors as working dogs has to do with the fact they are a highly intelligent breed. Fox Red Labradors are no different. Your Fox Red Labrador will likely be very easy to train thanks to its cleverness and overwhelming eagerness to please. Keep in mind, this intelligence can mean trouble, though. Their playful personalities and gentle natures make them excellent family dogs. However, Labs are strong dogs , which is important to remember if they will be spending a lot of time with people who are very young or very old. It is also extremely important that all parents teach their children how to respect dogs. Even the gentlest dog can nip or bite when it is startled awake, has its food taken away, or is hurt by a child pulling on its ears or tail. Fox Red Labradors have the same expected lifespan of any other Labrador Retriever. On average, Labs live years. Healthy Labs who are loved and sufficiently exercised are very capable of living to age 12 and beyond. Trauma, neglect, and genetic health issues are common reasons for a Labrador Retriever to live fewer than 10 years. Dogs who are well taken care of live long and happy lives. They also make happier companions! Two weeks after its final jabs, your Lab puppy will be able to touch the ground outside without the risk of catching parvo and other potentially dangerous viruses. During this time, you can also begin socializing your new puppy. Carefully introduce your Fox Red Lab puppy to as many people and animals as you possibly can. Puppies who are well socialized become friendlier, less nervous, and sometimes less aggressive dogs. This means it will shed much more than usual during the colder months. During this time, it might be a good idea to make a couple of appointments with a professional groomer. Exercise Labrador Retrievers are extremely athletic dogs. You will often see them working as hunting dogs and gun dogs, or competing in all sorts of agility tests. Usually, their ways are much more destructive to household objects, but can result in injury to your dog, too. You will want to take your Labrador Retriever for at least one long walk or run each day. Walking will allow your dog to work its muscles, while sniffing will allow your dog to work its brain. Other great ways to allow your Lab to exercise include hiking, swimming in a lake or backyard pool, or spending the day at doggy daycare. For brain exercise, search Amazon for things like treat puzzles, slow feeders, and other clever dog toys. Thus, your Lab will always be in the mood for a snack! Insist on feeding your Fox Red Lab at regular feeding times, and a daily total of about three cups of dry dog food. If you are buying your dog from a breeder, it is very important to purchase from a reputable breeder, as nearly all of the most common health issues for Labs are present in their gene pool. This is when the bone becomes malformed at the joint. At first, it will cause a little pain and an occasional limp. However, it eventually progresses into very painful arthritis. Progressive Retinal Atrophy is another malady that tends to affect Labradors. This terrible disease eventually leads to blindness, so it may be a good idea to have your Lab periodically examined by a canine ophthalmologist. This scary health problem results in the loss of muscular control following extreme exercise. Any Labrador Retriever that is being used for breeding should be tested for these three common health problems in Labs. If you have done your research and decided that a Fox Red Labrador is the right fit for your household, then you are probably wondering how much a Fox Red Lab would cost. Because those with a fox-like red coat are much rarer than, say, those with a solid black coat, you should expect to pay quite a bit more — even though many Labrador fans argue that reputable breeders should not ask more money for rarer coat colors. Speaking of, it is very important to purchase your Fox Red Lab puppy from a reputable breeder. Reputable breeders prioritize the health of their breeding dogs, their puppies, and the overall well-being of the breed. They also contribute less to the population of unwanted pets. If you are thinking of welcoming a Fox Red Lab into your home, then you are very likely to get a large and hardy dog that is incredibly loyal and gentle to all. Unfortunately, Jessup developed serious allergies to many different types of dog foods and ingredients when she was just a puppy. Meanwhile, Brody could eat seemingly anything and carry on as healthy as could be. Sarah spent hours of time researching and testing different foods and brands before finding something that worked for little Jessup. Of course, nature works in mysterious ways and not always can genetic defects be avoided. However, health screening is the best and most sure-fire way of reducing the risks. Health guarantees cover any major genetic conditions that the parent pups have been tested for and they usually cover the first two years from adoption. She hoped to combine the amiability of the Retriever, along with the warm temperament of the Poodle. As a result, today, we have this energetic doodle who can be a wonderful family dog. Initially, they were bred with the intention of training them as guide dogs or therapy dogs. But around the late s, their joyful and gentle nature made them very popular as home pets. Types Of Labradoodle Since the Labradoodle is not an independent breed, there can be certain inconsistencies in temperament or appearance. So, their sizes can vary depending on the size of the parent Poodle. On the other hand, the parent Labrador Retriever determines the type of coat for the Labradoodle pup. The fur type can be unpredictable due to this and can vary from soft to woolly or wiry. In addition, they can also belong to four categories of breeding. People generally prefer the generation having more hereditary Poodle qualities. The dominant Poodle trait typically makes them hypoallergenic or non-shedding. Therefore, it would be beneficial to acquaint yourselves with the different types of breeding categories before adopting Labradoodle puppies in New Jersey NJ. F1 Labradoodles The F1 breed is the healthiest as it is a first-generation cross between purebred Poodles and Labrador Retrievers. These puppies possess equally dominant traits of both their parent breeds. When purebred Poodles mate with a grown Labradoodle, F1B breeds of puppies are born. They, too, have equally dominant traits of both the Poodle and the Labrador Retriever. F3 Labradoodles F3 Labradoodle puppies are the least healthy breed, as it is a cross between two F2 Labradoodles. Such a multigenerational cross is typically a backcross between multiple generations of Poodle. Labradoodles are usually dogs with high energy. Regardless of their sizes, they are not well-suited to living in small-sized apartments. They can be high-spirited jumpers and are in need of constant mental and physical stimulation to thrive. Not that you need additional solid reasons to get yourselves a furry companion. But when it comes to Labradoodle puppies, there are reasons to convince you to adopt one. We have taken all these into consideration in our curated list of the five best Labradoodle breeders in New Jersey NJ. You can also expect them to greet you at your door after a tedious day and make you feel better with just their energy. They derive the intelligence traits from two very smart dog breeds, the Poodle and the Labrador Retriever. The combined genetics, therefore, makes the Labradoodle a super-dog in terms of intelligence. On the other hand, their nature makes them eager to please anyone. As a result, they will pick up all the tricks that you teach them very swiftly! Final Words It is not without reason that Labradoodle pups are such a sought-after breed for family pets. But how do you sort the best breeders from the not-so-good? Website If the breeder has a website, look to see if they have legitimate contact details, including a telephone contact number and an email address. Some breeders ask you to contact them via an online form on their website, which is fine, too. Look closely at the website for obvious errors: Online scammers often copy and paste text and images from legitimate breeder sites. Often, photographs lifted from legitimate breeder sites are incorrectly captioned. Look closely at the photographs on breeder websites to see if there are watermarks on the images. That indicates that the pictures have been copied from sites such as Shutterstock. References and Testimonials Reputable breeders can provide you with genuine customer references and testimonials. So, always ask to see some before you commit to buying a puppy. Customer Vetting Responsible breeders will not sell puppies to random people online or through pet stores. Usually, you will be encouraged to visit the breeder to view the puppies and meet the parents. That also allows the breeder to meet you and make sure that you have the necessary experience and facilities to take one of their puppies. Breeding Kennels A responsible, ethical breeder will not keep their breeding dogs and puppies in cages or crowded places. All the dogs will live in clean, roomy, comfortable areas. How Many Puppies? Responsible Labradoodle breeders only produce a limited number of puppies each year. Also, good breeders usually specialize in one breed of dog rather than breeding many different types of puppies. So, if you want a Labradoodle, choose a breeder that only breeds different types of Doodles. Veterinary Records Good, ethical Labradoodle breeders will happily show you individual records of health screening and veterinary visits for your puppy and its parents. Contract A responsible breeder will expect you to sign a contract stating that you will have your puppy desexed as soon as he or she is old enough to have the operation. The contract will probably go further and state that you do not have breeding rights for your dog. Prices Check the price of the Labradoodles that the breeder is offering for sale. Guarantee Most good breeders offer health guarantees with their Labradoodles. The guarantee is usually for a period of one or two years and gives you redress to the breeder if your puppy develops congenital health problems during that time. As mentioned above, when it comes to buying a Labradoodle puppy, you get what you pay for. You can expect to wait a long time before you finally get your Labradoodle puppy! All good breeders have a waiting list for their pups, which can be anything from six months to two years! Breeder Mill Red Flags Breeder mills are more commonly called puppy mills or puppy farms. These operations produce vast numbers of puppies as cheaply as possible to make the largest profit. Unfortunately, that leads to substandard parent dogs being used in the breeding operation that are rarely health screened and are often kept in very poor conditions. The puppies produced by puppy farms are often of poor quality and can even have existing illnesses when they go to their new owner. Puppies produced by these backyard breeder mills are often sold for cheaper prices than those bred by reputable breeders, catching out many unwary buyers. Here are some top tips to help you avoid being duped by a puppy farm. Many Different Breeds Most reputable breeders specialize in one or two breeds. If you see an advert for multiple breeds, check out similar ads. If the same breeder is advertising lots of different breeds, they could be a puppy mill. Never pay for a puppy without seeing the animal first. Puppies are generally eight weeks of age before they can have their first vaccinations. If an ad states that the pups are less than eight weeks old and have been vaccinated, that could indicate a puppy farm. How Much? Puppy mills want to shift as many puppies as quickly as possible to exploit the current trend and generate maximum profits. To do that, they typically work on selling quantity rather than quality. Cheap puppies are usually from backyard breeders. Be Prepared To Wait Most reputable, ethical breeders will ask you to complete an application form and even be interviewed for your suitability to take one of their puppies. You will then be placed on a waiting list until a puppy becomes available. Health Certificates A good breeder can show you a clean, current health certificate for their parent breeding dogs, with proof of deworming, flea prevention treatment, and vaccination papers for the puppies. Contract Good breeders will ask you to sign a contract stating that you will not breed from your puppy without their permission. Meanwhile, if you decide to buy a puppy outside New Jersey, make sure that you check out our list of ethical breeders from neighboring states to avoid falling into the hands of puppy mills:. In , she began to feel frustrated with the number of Goldendoodle breeders in Idaho that didn't know what they were doing. They would make claims that weren't true and let puppies go to their homes when they were too young, not checked by a vet, or sick. Breeding wasn't restricted to a credible goldendoodle registry. She started researching ways to make the breed better and ran across a miniature Australian Labradoodle at a park in Boise, Idaho. She was thrilled to see the requirements to register the Australian Labradoodle and the gentle nature of the breed. The intent was to create a breed that was allergy and asthma friendly with the temperament of a service dog. The journey was inspired by a vision impaired woman in Hawaii who needed a Guide Dog which wouldn't aggravate her husband's allergies. For years, Cyndi has refused to breed labradoodles because the Lab is a working dog. The distinction is the Australian labradoodle has a service dog temperament which is fantastic for families. His name is Dyno pronounced die-no. Dyno is very playful and full of energy. White American Shepherds are very much like the German Shepherd in temperament. They need a dominant owner to establish a pack leader position. They do best with firm discipline and training. Can be very cautious of strangers but very friendly once acquainted. Shepherds do need daily exercise. They will do well indoors but really need space to run and play. He's a 2-year-old White German Shepherd. We're from Toronto, Canada. Your site has helped me a lot; he's more obedient than he used to be. Blitz is a dominant dog but I'm training him, being consistent and he's becoming a very good dog. He used to growl at me when I told him to get off the bed but now he doesn't! He'll do as told. Your site really helps me out. I'm still working on Blitz. Blitz and I go on many long walks, the dog park and pack walks. Blitz loves long walks and playing ball as well. Overall he's a good boy who is very friendly and playful, just in need of more training. An interesting fact about Blitz is that he loves eating oranges. I don't give him oranges often, sometimes though if he's really good I'll give him a slice. I don't know what I would do without her. german shepherd puppy for sale indiana - A 12 Month Old son of our great Apollo. He is a clone of his father. Big, thick monster. He is only 12 months old so now is the time you need to set boundaries. He has just started to come into adulthood. Because he is only 12 months you can now correct him and let him know you are the leader and the alpha. He was pretty much that sweet puppy that is now a serious dog and past owners were just not this type of people. Soft if you will. A dream dog. Because he was left to his own accord, he had no leader and basically thought it was his job to protect the family growing up. Which is the wrong process for a serious GSD. Now that he is here he is great, no issues, someone just needs to take him over as new owners and follow my instructions. Anyone like me will not have any probs at all. He is the dog and you are the owner. No nonsenses dog. It is not his house it is your house. They are not his toys, they are your toys etc…. I have no issues from the time he was returned. Not one! He is too young to be neutered but it is required within a year. He comes from great lines, awesome pedigree. His parents are below. He was the top of his litter, has very rich pigmentation just like dad. He is the real deal. Better off with only older kids in the house say past 12 and up. Likes females of course. He is an alpha dog so no males. Knowing his father like the back of my hand. He knows his territory, so he is protective of it and his people! I would say no cats either. Other female large dog would be ok. He is actually nervous of new people so socialization slowly is good. He was bought during covid and this was part of the problem. Because he is only 12 it is definitely not to late for him. Walks would be awesome. Just use to a yard and pulled owner. Again to me he was perfect from day one. He knows I am a leader. Great dog, need his forever good home. He is available today! All Vaccines up to date he needs nothing more the rest of his life! Life Span Did You Know? The German Shepherd is one of the most versatile, well-recognized, and popular dog breeds in the world. The modern German Shepherd is descended from a family of various German herding dogs. Breed standards were not developed until the late 19th century when Captain Max von Stephanitz, a German cavalry officer, worked with Arthur Meyer and other breeders to develop the ideal German herding dog. Stephanitz and Meyer wrote the breed standard in and the American Kennel Club recognized the German Shepherd as a member of the Herding Group in .Although they were originally bred as herding dogs, they were also bred for versatility, which made the German Shepherd an all-around working dog that could excel in a variety of applications. German Shepherds are one of the common dog breeds employed in K-9 units in both police and military applications. They also make great service dogs and, of course, are still awesome herding dogs and farm dogs! The German Shepherd is a strong-willed and highly intelligent dog. They have a playful, energetic spirit and tend to get along with children, other dogs, and other pets, which makes them a great family companion. A born protector, the German Shepherd will provide a great sense of security for their family while their loving and lively personality will make them fit right in as a companion. German Shepherds are naturally protective and can be wary of strangers at first. A well-socialized German Shepherd will bark to alert you and tends to warm up to strangers once introduced. German Shepherds are dogs that were bred to herd and work. This, plus their high energy, makes them a better fit for homes with fenced yards where they can run. They can adapt well to larger apartments as long as plenty of time is dedicated to ensuring they get enough exercise, mental stimulation, and attention every day. A bored, ignored, or under-exercised German Shepherd can often become a destructive one. They also can be sensitive to their surroundings and large gatherings can be off-putting. With a longer coat, they tend to prefer cooler climates and are sensitive to heat. The German Shepherd is a generally healthy breed, but there are some potential health concerns and good breeding practices make a big difference. Potential health concerns to be aware of in a German Shepherd include hip dysplasia, elbow dysplasia , and degenerative myelopathy. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. So, make sure you are asking about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done. As a barrel-chested breed, the German Shepherd is also at risk for bloat. While the German Shepherd is highly intelligent and highly trainable, they are generally not recommended for novice owners. If you are a novice dog owner, enroll in puppy training classes or enlist the help of a professional dog trainer; not just for your dog, but for yourself as well. Training assistance will help you grow in experience and build a strong bond between you and your German Shepherd puppy, which is essential. Also, the GSD has a thirst for training and fulfillment. They get bored easily and especially with repetition, so continued training with your German Shepherd throughout their life will be necessary. German Shepherds have a medium-to-long double coat. They will shed year-round and heavier as seasons change. Brushing a few times a week is usually sufficient; brushing daily is even better and your GSD will likely love you for it. Bathing is occasional on an as-needed basis. Ear checks weekly with careful cleanings as needed can help prevent ear infections. German Shepherds are high-energy working dogs. Not only do they require a lot of daily activity, but they also are a herding breed that was made to run, guard, and observe, so they need a job to do to be happy and healthy. Daily walks plus playtime, time to run, and other activities are usually enough for a GSD, but they will likely be up for more activity if you are. With their versatility and athleticism, you can try a lot of different activities when puppies finish growing and they are cleared for higher-impact things. A fully-grown German Shepherd usually stands inches tall and weighs pounds. German Shepherds generally live for years on average. Corporal Duncan brought him back to the United States and Rin-Tin-Tin became one of the most famous dog actors in history. Featured German Shepherd Article.
