I kept the hemostat on the cord for about 2 minutes to let it clout. The umbilical cord dries up quickly and then within a day or 2 it falls off. Raven was a good mama and took care of her poops. We did everything we could to make sure our pups stayed warm by adding a watt heat lamp to the whelping box and portable heating unit in the puppy room. While caring for Raven and her litter Raven was really blowing out her coat that first week, but as time went on it slowed down. I heard from other friends this is common and that Raven blew out her coat much less than other mama dogs. Dates Despite being sweet, dates are good for the health of your dog as they contain vitamins A, B, and C with a lot of fiber while being cholesterol free. As mentioned before, these aid in maintaining eyesight, skin, and hair growth. The calcium content is good for keeping the bones healthy and the potassium keeps the electrolyte balance in the blood. Sugars in dates are quick to be digested and available for usage, thus they can be given for a quick boost in energy before any exercise. Coconut Golden Retrievers can eat the fleshy part of the coconut after removing the husk and hard coat. This is rich in essential oils that are good for the hair and skin of the pooch. Also, coconuts contain antioxidants that reduce toxins in the blood and slow the aging of cells. Fruits That Are Toxic To Golden Retrievers Some fruits have chemicals that are toxic to Golden Retrievers and most other dog breeds and your pooch needs to be kept away from them. Grapes Grapes can be toxic to most dogs as they cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. This is usually mild but still, you should avoid giving your dog grapes. Tomatoes Unripe tomatoes contain tomatine and solanine which are poisonous to dogs and lead to vomiting and diarrhea. When severe enough, it can lead to dehydration, lethargy, and circulatory collapse, hence these should be avoided by all dogs. Ripe tomatoes are safer but they have oxalate in them which can combine with calcium in the blood to form calcium oxalate stones in the kidney. Avocados Persin is present in avocados which leads to diarrhea and vomiting thus leading to severe dehydration. Too much of it can lead to the death of your pooch. Hence, all parts of avocados whether the seeds, flesh, or stem should never be given to dogs. Cherries All parts of cherries contain cyanide, a poison that causes disruption of cellular function leading to hypoxia, and can cause instant death in large amounts. Yes, they can, fruits cover almost all the nutrients needed by a Golden Retriever, but these should be given in small portions every day in the form of small slices that are easy to chew and digest. However, having fruits every day can become mundane for the dog. The way I prefer is to rotate different fruits on several days and then have a fruit-free interval for a couple of days where I give my dog meat or dog food, sometimes with vegetables, and then introduce fruits again. Also, most fruits are rich in sugars while being poor in proteins. Such a diet will lead to muscle wasting in dogs with the deposition of abundant fats. Since then, posts on social media promoting mercy towards animals have significantly increased and have been widely shared in ways that were not noticeable perhaps just five years ago. From posts that ask people to wash empty tuna cans before throwing them away so they do not attract cats and injure their mouths, to posts telling people how to feed wild birds, kindness toward animals has gained a lot of traction on social media in the past few years. For instance, the number of people who care enough to report animal abuse to animal rights organizations has significantly increased owing to social media, according to Salwa Abdoh, the head of the Egyptian Society for Defending Animal Rights ESDAR. More recently, in , the organization received 30 reports in 45 days. More and more posts urge donations to animal organizations and intervention when animal abuse is seen. However, Abdoh says, the increasing popularity of such posts often also backfires as people do not always report abuse for the right reasons or in the right way. Of course, this too will change when abandoned dogs of other breeds interbreed with the baladis. Idea of non-kill is common to almost all Egyptian animal lovers One of the reasons for the overcrowding of shelters is that the animals never are euthanized. If the animal is in pain, it is given pain medication and a natural end is expected. Even angry dogs are not euthanized; as I was writing this, there was a petition in a Facebook group to place a dog that bit a person in a shelter before it has to be killed. It is of course difficult for a Finn to understand this mentality. It is of course difficult for us to understand why it would be wrong to release an animal from its suffering if there is no hope of recovery. Almost all shelters have a constant struggle for existence Although Noha Awad gets help from three newly graduated veterinarians, she says that love is perhaps even more important than any medicine. Written step-by-step video tutorial: For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin. Step 1: Draw two circles as guides for the boxer's body. First draw four small marks for the height and width of the circle, then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. But the circles don't have to be perfect. They're just guides. If you do want a perfect circle, trace the outer rim of a coin, a lid or any other object with a circular edge. Then complete the circle using curved lines. This circle should be about one-third the size of the head. The lower, right side should extend outside of the dog's head. Step 5: Draw the guides for the boxer's ears as small triangles by first drawing a V-shaped line on the top, left side of the head. Complete the shape of the triangle by drawing a short line on top of the V-shaped line. The ear on the right side will be blocked by the head, so only draw two of the triangle's three sides. Here you will draw out the top of the head and as you can see the head is sort of flat. Sketch out the long droopy ears, and if you're saying to yourself "boxers have long ears? Long ears is natural for this dog breed before owners decide to have them clipped. Using the face guides, you need to draw out the large oblong eyes, and then draw in the nose. Add some nostrils, and then sketch in a few creases in between the eyes, and snout. Lastly, draw out the cute friendly tongue gesture. Step 5. Draw out the body, and when you do this be sure to make the entire outline smaller than the head. Add some bumps for the contours of the body. Step 6. Simply draw out the paws and be sure to make the paws arched and thick. As you know the boxer breed is a large dog. Step 7. Draw out the back legs and paws, and then draw in the short tail.
