We have been blessed to live in the picturesque Central Coast of California for the past 33 years. Our 5 acre ranch is our own slice of paradise- for us and the dogs! Our lives have changed quite a bit from when we first bought this property. This truly is a wonderfully scenic and rural setting for both our family as well as our Labradoodles, Goldendoodles and Bernedoodles. My husband, Tom, and I are high school sweethearts who have been married 38 years. We have 3 children, all of whom are now married. We began breeding Labrador Retrievers 21 years ago, shortly after acquiring our first chocolate lab. Approximately 15 years ago we began hearing about a new breed called labradoodles. After researching labradoodles in earnest, we were intrigued by what we discovered. We had our first litter of "doodles" in fall of and were amazed by the wonderful characteristics of the litter. In the winter of we expanded to Goldendoodles. In we will once again take on a new venture- Bernedoodles! We now are absolutely convinced that labradoodles, goldendoodles, and bernedoodles are the best family dogs there are. This is a wonderfully scenic and rural setting for both our family as well as our Labradoodles and Goldendoodles. Welcome to New England Bernedoodles we are a family-owned breeder of exceptional Bernedoodles. We breed for temperament, trainability, and affectionate, lovable companions for any family. We started with this breed after having Australian Labradoodles for many years. However, the shedding and the largeness of the breed were off putting. We decided to put our understanding of genetics to work and combine quality, loving, gentle Bernese Mountain dogs with smart, affectionate poodles to produce Bernedoodles here at New England Bernedoodles. We are also producing the Australian Bernedoodle. Yes, they really are low to non-shedding. We here at New England Bernedoodles breed specifically for temperament so we know that our bernedoodles will excel in gentleness, trainability, love and sweet demeanor. Our bernedoodles have exceptional beautiful coats. There is nothing like snuggling up close to your New England Bernedoodle. New England Bernedoodles strive for excellence and we produce puppies that are extremely intelligent, abundantly affectionate and forever your best friend. This is a small family breeder, and each of the seven members is involved in the program. Besides dogs, the family also has two cats and a rabbit. They make sure that their dogs socialize, play, and get familiar with people and other animals to make sure that they fit in at any home effortlessly. If you choose to get your puppy from this breeder, it will come with its first vaccines, deworming and dewclaws removed. However, we recommend taking into account the following points to discard any possibility of dealing with a puppy mill, places where puppies are produced massively without prioritizing the health of any of the involved animals. Health state of the puppy Typically, puppies are full of energy. Good breeders will maintain them as clean as possible and quite chubby. Therefore, a sign that something wrong is going on can be your first impression of the pup. Your puppy should also be treated against flea. If you feel like something is off, we recommend asking the breeder directly. If the father is not present at the moment, you can always ask the breeder about contact information regarding its current location to get to know more about the puppy. Getting to know the parents will let you know more about your puppy. Most dogs inherit their personality from their parents! Facilities Some breeders will post pictures of their facilities and will be more than happy to let you explore them if they allow visits, of course. It is important to make sure that your new pet comes from a healthy, loving environment. After all, we all can set up a picture and make it seem like a happy place. Guarantee Most breeders will offer you from one to three years of genetic health warranty. Besides that, they will also give you 72 hours to get the puppy checked by a licensed veterinarian to discard any potential life-threatening condition. Either of the options described can result in a refund, or the breeder may allow you to choose another puppy from a different breeder. Documentation Your puppy should always come with the right documentation. This way, you can prove that there is nothing wrong with it and that all the due examinations and processes were done. For instance, you should receive the microchip, change of ownership, and health certificate papers. We hope that you meet your new fur friend soon! Bea is calm, nurturing, and was an amazing mom to her puppies. Her signature move is politely laying her head in our laps and looking up at us with her soulful eyes.

How long should puppies stay with their mother? The ideal window is between 8 and weeks-old. They are healthy and adorable, and you want to bring them home as soon as you possibly can. However, the time your puppy spends with their mother and siblings is critical for development, and so it's important to make sure they spend this growth period with their litter. The first month For the first four weeks or so, puppies depend on their mothers for everything. This milk provides all the nutrition the puppies need for the first few weeks after birth. Weaning to solid foods Puppies start to experiment with solid food as early as 3-weeks-old. They still nurse, and mothers continue to produce milk for up to 10 weeks. Some nursing is for nutrition, but it is also a comforting, bonding activity for the puppies. Most puppies are fully weaned to solid food between 7 and 10 weeks of age, although the transition can occur earlier. Learning to speak dog Just as important for puppy development is learning proper canine etiquette and communication as part of a litter. For example, as early as 3 weeks of age, puppies start learning from their mother and siblings to eliminate away from where they sleep, which helps with housebreaking later. The pups are practicing hunting and communication behaviors that they need to perfect. One of the most important skills that puppies learn through play is bite inhibition and not chomping down too hard. If a puppy bites too hard, the other will cry out, signaling that the bite was too rough. Moms will do the same thing or may gently correct the puppies for getting too rough. This is a critical lesson to learn before heading out into the world, as other dogs will be far less tolerant of inappropriate puppy play than Mom! Biting is also a common problem behavior that can land a dog in a shelter or worse later in life. Puppies will also practice a variety of vocalizations and body language, learning to communicate with their siblings and mother. Socialization Puppies have an early critical socialization period from approximately 5 to 14 weeks of age. During this time, puppies are open to learning and experiencing new things, and the things they learn will affect how they go through the rest of their lives. Breeders and other caretakers should be exposing the puppies to novel sights and sounds on a regular basis. Puppies destined to be working or sporting dogs should be exposed to things they will encounter in their future roles, such as sheep wool for herding dogs, a variety of materials and obstacles to climb over for agility dogs, and training scents for future drug and bomb detection dogs. These safe exposures should continue after you bring your puppy home, but early socialization with litter-mates and the mother are also important for building confidence. The puppies will observe how their mother responds to new people and things and then mimic her behavior. If Mom is relaxed and friendly around new people, the puppies will likely be comfortable with strangers. Research has found that puppies who are separated from the litter too early are more likely to show fear, aggression, anxiety, resource guarding, reactivity and inappropriate play biting than puppies who stay with the litter for at least eight weeks. The ideal time The exact time that is best for a puppy to go to its new home can vary by situation, but most breeders and veterinarians agree that 8 weeks of age is a good minimum. Some states have laws in place preventing puppies from being sold any earlier. Eight weeks after birth, the puppy is eating solid food on their own, they have benefited from socializing with litter-mates and observing mom, and they are well within the ideal timeframe to bond with new owners. Breeders may also opt to keep the puppies until 10 or 12 weeks of age. Toy breeds in particular are often kept with the litter until they are 12 weeks old because they are so small and fragile. This gives the pups extra time with the litter, and still has them going to their forever homes in plenty of time to form a strong bond with their new people. And anyone who has welcomed an adult dog into their home knows that dogs of any age will still bond with their new owners as long as they have had socialization with people! Keeping the puppies longer does mean more work for the breeder, since they are responsible for all the puppies during those extra weeks. But if the breeder is putting in that time and effort to give the puppies a great foundation, then the extra time with their litter can be very beneficial to both you and your new puppy. Wisconsin: 7 weeks Stages of development Now that you know when French Bulldogs can leave their mother, I wanted to dip a little bit into how the develop, to give you a deeper understanding of this amazing breed. It will give you some insight into how critical early care is with the mother, and how these things influence Frenchie overall growth. Weeks 1 and 2: confusion and lack of senses Newly born Frenchies are very tiny and a lot smaller than many other breeds. All they can do is to feed from the mother, sleep and poop. If you a French Bulldog puppy leaves the mother at this stage, it will almost certainly die. Handy Hint: French Bulldogs with white fur are more likely to develop hearing loss problems. Read this guide to deafness to get the inside track. In this first two weeks they adjust and respond to their surroundings, slowly opening their eyes to respond to light, crawl a little, and of course with the help of their mothers, instinctively try to feed. But mostly, they will sleep, which is very important for them at this stage. Week 3: interacting with their environment In their third week, French Bulldog puppies begin to develop their senses. Like other dog breeds, they start to explore their surroundings. They rarely sleep during this period and are seen running throughout the day. At this stage, they start recognizing humans, and can start to make strong associations and emotional connections. They might even get excited to see the breeder walking in. They are still in the early part of their development — both the puppies and mother could become distressed with too much human interaction. Any negativity at this point could affect the personalities of the whole litter, and in extreme cases can cause behavioural problems in the long term. Keep strangers at bay and to keep the French Bulldog puppies close to their siblings and mother. Week 4: social interaction In this stage, Frenchies start developing stronger connections with their siblings; this is where their social development begins. They learn how to play with their brothers and sisters. Also, at this point, the mother starts weaning them off the milk. They start learning how to become dogs at this time, with their mother being the teacher, role model, and guide. There are things happening during these weeks that mean it would be crazy to separate them. During this stage, Frenchies can be nervous about almost anything. As they begin to notice things more carefully, the world can suddenly seem like a very big and scary place. It can be a complete sensory overload, hence the nervousness — but they will adapt over time. Also, at this stage, they develop more control over their bowels and bladder and should be able to have a sounder sleep without waking up to pee all through the night. As a side note, breeders can start training the French Bulldog puppies some very basic commands like, stay, sit, and so on. Handy Hint: Learn how you can teach a French Bulldog puppy to sit with just a few simple to follow steps. You know how annoying and stressful teenagers can be? Frenchie puppies really are no different. As they become more independent, they will start to cause havoc. They will also have a tendency to bite and chew everything in their sight. Coupled with their developing rebelliousness; they can become a real nuisance. Weeks 8 to 9: French bulldogs can leave their mother At this stage, Frenchies puppies can leave the mother and siblings and go to their new forever homes. This is what Claude looked like when he first came home with us. In the video , shared on TikTok in April by the dog's owner, under the username Divinefrenchbulldogs, the Frenchie can be seen trying to protect her puppy as her owner checks his breath using a stethoscope. She seems so worried that the owner uses it on her too, so she can show that she is not actually hurting her puppy. The heartwarming clip comes with a caption that says: "Watch mama totally relax after I put the stethoscope on her to show her I'm not hurting her baby. I can't imagine being a puppy mill and having no connection to the mama dog and babies! Family bred is just so much better all the way around. A new dog mama has melted hearts online after making sure her puppy wasn't hurt by the stethoscope. Divine French Bulldogs Persie's owner, Tawnee Garcia, who became a breeder after struggling to find a reputable one three years ago while trying to get her son a dog, told Newsweek that while she's sure that everybody says that their dog is perfect, she truly feels like Persie is! If you want to go for a walk or go play fetch, she will run her little heart out. If you want to just lay back and have a relaxing day, she will lay directly on your chest and lick your face until you can't breathe. She comforts you when you're sick, she senses when you're pregnant, and she absolutely loves company. She's an old soul, and we have a special connection like nothing I've ever experienced with another animal. She isn't just a random dog having babies in my house, she's my sister. For those who don't know what whelping newborn puppies consists of, it's very time-consuming. Flat-faced dogs need their noses sucked out after feedings in order to avoid aspirating and getting Pneumonia," she said. As she took care of Persie's puppies, the concerned dog mama was involved in every step of it. Garcia said: "She inspected [all the tools]. From the warm washcloth to help her potty them, to the nose sucker and the stethoscope, I used everything on her to show her that I'm only here to help. She'd still show her dominance by cleaning them while I held them. But I think the best part is that she'd always lick my face as soon as we were all finished. I felt like that was her way of telling me, 'Thank you for helping me, I trust you, and I love you. The mother may initially feel lost without her litter and show signs of depression that could last a few days," the website states. The video quickly gained popularity on social media, attracting users from across TikTok. It has so far received over , views and , likes on the platform. Both mama and pup seem overcome with emotion, though I have no idea how the lovely person behind the camera held it together. I'm watching from a screen and I'm nearly sobbing! I could feel the weight lift from ameliacourtneysmith's shoulders as she and her little dog finally reunited. Neither she nor he was expecting their time apart to last for so long, so this emotional hello was incredibly overdue. Get ready to grab the tissues! View the original article to see embedded media. OMG--what a moving reunion! I have no clue how Amelia survived eight long months without her French Bulldog by her side, but we're sp relieved that they're finally back together again. We sure hope the British Frenchie enjoys Australia though! As it turns out, the duo's separation came after Amelia moved from the UK to Australia. She planned to bring her pup to travel with her, but the post-pandemic bureaucracy took a while to catch up. She told commenter michelleshannaa, "He was only in quarantine for 10 days. Still, it's nothing like the love he and Amelia so obviously have! Looking for more PetHelpful updates? Follow us on YouTube for more entertaining videos. Like all things in life, breeding for health is simply a matter of priority. We are blind to many of the breed priorities that distract other breeders from improving the health of the English Bulldog. We focus on health and personality and very little else. We are not interested in winning a blue ribbon in the show ring. Rather, we test for things like elongated soft palates, narrow tracheas, stenotic nares, luxation in the patellar tendons, heart defects, cherry eye, optic cilia, entropion, ect. We focus and prioritize creating healthy bloodlines, therefore our bulldogs are typically much healthier than the breed as a whole. After breeding for health, what other priorities are you focused on? Our true desire is to create the perfect family bulldog. We also believe a bulldog bred for the correct personality is essential to the family unit as well. A Bruiser Bulldog is bred for intelligence and playfulness. We want our bulldogs to be full of personality and some quirk. We believe a full personality along with a little stubbornness is the true North star of the bulldog breed and is what makes the unique among other breeds. We look for these personality traits in our adult bulldogs and continue to create bloodlines that reflect these qualities. What are the steps of your adoption process if I am located in New York? I am familiar with common and uncommon health problems they may face so when my boyfriend and I decided we were ready to adopt our own english puppy finding a reputable breeder that prioritizes health was most important to us. Erica and Mitch of Bruiser Bulldogs are just that. They are experienced, ethical and quality breeders. I was referred to them by my friend that I trust after I saw their gorgeous healthy puppy. Our Puppy Primrose is the light of our lives! Bruisers was there to assist us every step of the way. We would highly recommend Bruisers Bulldogs to anyone looking for their own happy, healthy pup! Leah H. We were lucky to have come across Bruiser Bulldogs and even more so the fact that they were near our family and hometown made it even better. We have had Clementine Callie for four months now, and she is a wonderful dog. Her personality is amazing, and I think part of it is breeding and the other part is Erika and her family lovingly raising the puppies in their home with plenty of attention and snuggles. I also was impressed that, rather than send the puppies out right at 8 weeks, Erika kept ours for a few extra weeks because she was tiny and not read to leave her mom yet. It's that care that differentiates Bruisers from other breeders. Emily R. Erica was easy to work with thru the entire process from application to adopting and now beyond as we host our new family member, Chief. Her on-call support and willingness to provide open, honest advice to all of our questions and concerns continues to be appreciated. We would highly recommend Bruiser Bulldogs to anyone looking for an English Bulldog to join their family. Elizabeth W. Lady L. They are experienced, responsive and knowledgeable about all things bulldog related. They went above and beyond for us and are truly dedicated to all of their pups! We love our little girl so much and would recommend Bruiser to anyone looking for a healthy beautiful bully. Jonathan E. Erica and Mitch are trustworthy, excellent communicators, fair, passionate, and produce the best bulldogs. We were at the top of the waiting list for months and Erica reached out every litter to see if we were finally ready for a bulldog. When we were, she was very easy to work with. Her knowledge on bulldogs is outstanding. We had many questions on the process and she always knew what was best for the puppy. We've had Penny formerly Blair for two months and she is very healthy, energetic, playful, and sweet. She is great with other people and dogs. We are so happy with our pup. When we are ready for bulldog 2, we will only consider Bruiser Bulldogs. Mitch C. Bowser was born April and is an integral part of our family. When we were first exploring English Bulldog breeders our biggest concern was the overall health of the dogs. We decided to work with Erica at Bruiser Bulldogs because we liked their focus on improving the breeds breathing abilities and the fact that the puppies are raised within her family environment before coming home with their new owners. Bowser also breaths clearly and our vet was impressed with his overall health from the moment we brought him home. All that said we know English Bulldogs have a predisposition to many health issues and that his current health can not predict the future. With that In mind its important to start with a breeder that open to answer any of your questions as Erica has ours, and that strongly believes in improving the breeds overall health profile. Adam B. My sister ended up finding Bruiser Bulldogs and we knew right away that they were the breeder for us. In September we ended up driving 9 hours to pick up two Bruiser bulldog puppies- one for my husband and I and one for my mom. Jackson and Penelope have been nothing but a joy. They are both very athletic and healthy. They are also HUGE snugglers and always want to be with you. It is an absolute pleasure having these two bullies in our lives! Erica is very knowledgeable about the breed. She is very hands on throughout the process and is just overall a kind and honest person to work with. With all that being said I cannot recommend Bruiser Bulldogs enough! Collyn C. One of the reasons we chose Bruiser Bulldogs was due to the claims about breeding for health. During our first visit at our vet's office, he told us that our pup was one of the healthiest English bulldogs he had ever seen. He is healthy, happy and social. Would recommend to anyone. Christina S. We seen our dog on their website and sent them an Email. Mitch called us and personally walked us through the process and made sure we had the right dog for our family. We couldn't be happier when we picked up our dog Ramsey, Erica made sure we had everything we needed and then some. They are truly amazing people who breed truly amazing dogs! Jim T. Breeders VS. The sad truth is that many pet store purchased pups actually come from puppy mills. Basically, there is zero authenticity with pet stores. When it comes to adopting any animal from a pet store, there is an increased risk of unforeseen health or genetic problems. You also cultivate a life-long relationship with the breeder, meaning support is available to you anytime you may need it. With My Golden Retriever Puppies , you have the option to come and visit both the puppy and the breeder in person! Golden Retrievers are an adaptable breed, meaning they are better at adapting to seasonal changes and various types of climate than certain other breeds. Goldens sport a double-coat, which ensures that these sweet pups are able to tolerate slightly colder temperatures than their friends from other breeds. Your pup deserves better than that, which is why here at My Golden Retriever Puppies , we ensure high-quality care is taken of your pet at all times. For more about the true price of a golden retriever puppy, you can read our full price breakdown here. Location Information for New York Customers Our home office is located in Ohio, but we understand that long-distance travel can be inconvenient. If you prefer to meet a breeder in person, they may be able to offer private visits at their home. Of course! Written step-by-step video tutorial: For the first few steps, don't press down too hard with your pencil. Use light, smooth strokes to begin. Step 1: Draw two circles as guides for the first part of the golden retriever's body. First draw four small marks for the height and width of the circle, then connect the marks using curved lines. Sketch lightly at first so that it's easy to erase if you make a mistake. But the circles don't have to be perfect. They're just guides. If you do want perfect circles, trace the outer rim of a coin, a bottle cap or any other object with a circular edge. The circle on the right should be smaller than the one on the left, and their edges should touch. Place the circle on the right slightly higher so that the top edges of both circles are at the same level. Step 2: Draw another circle on the top, left side as a guide for the golden retriever's head. Draw this circle the same way. First draw four marks that indicate the height and width, then connect the marks using curved lines. The edges of the circles should touch. This circle should be a bit smaller than the body circle on the right. Step 3: Draw a curved horizontal line across the golden retriever's head. This is a construction line that will help you place the dog's facial features later. Add a curved vertical line on the top left side of the head for another construction line. Step 4: Draw a small circle on the lower left side of the head as a guide for the dog's muzzle. The top edge of this circle should touch the construction line, and the bottom edge should be outside of the head. The left edge of the circle should also be outside the head. Pay attention to the size of this circle in relation to the golden retriever's head. On the right side of the head, below the horizontal construciton line, draw a V-shaped line for the golden retriever's other ear. Add an extra line on the V-shaped line that attaches to the edge of the head. To complete this step, use two symmetrical curved lines and an arc at the bottom of them. Add the facial features of the Golden Retriever. Now you should add two oval eyes and the nose using a curved line. Depict the top of the head and ears. Draw curved lines above the previously drawn elements and on the sides of the head. Sketch out the torso and forelimbs of the dog. Below the previously drawn head, draw curved lines, as shown in the figure. Add the fingers on the front legs of the dog. At the bottom of the previously drawn paws, draw short, curved lines to indicate the toes. Start drawing the back of the Golden Retriever. On the right and left sides of the previously drawn torso and front legs, add curved lines. Finish drawing the torso and paws. Draw the flanked feet and lower torso using curved lines. Add the outlines of the fingers on the hind legs. Color the drawing. To color the Golden Retriever, use beige, gray, and black. Contact Welcome to North Creek Goldens Finding an ethical breeder is tough, let alone one you can actually trust. Eight years ago I had difficulty finding a Golden Retriever puppy locally that I could actually afford. After what seemed like forever in my search, I felt that I had no other option but to search on Craiglist - purchasing from a backyard breeder. I was so stressed in my search, I bypassed all of the important questions to ask while looking for a pup! I, of course immediately fell in love with my Craiglist Golden I still have him to this day! I love and respect Golden Retrievers with all of my heart. My mission is to educate future Golden lovers of the correct breed standard and provide sound, healthy puppies that compliment what the breed is meant to be. My Goldens are the equivalent of my children, making my puppy parents immediate family. If you ever have any questions or any concerns - I am here for you for the life of your Golden. Once you bring one of my puppies home - you're a part of the Golden Pack. Tucked away in the Northwest corner in the city of Las Vegas, our family is made up of five humans and five furry family members. We do not function as a kennel - the puppies, and all of our Goldens are housed and raised, right inside our home. Use tab to navigate through the menu items. We raise happy, healthy, well socialized puppies whose parents live in our home and with whom we regularly compete in AKC events. Our dogs are first and foremost our family and pets. They hike with us, play with us, and yes, usually sleep on our beds. They love to give love and be loved. They are exactly what we hoped our goldens would be - the perfect family dogs. Our story When I was 6 years old, my parents golden retriever, Brittney, had a litter of puppies. Instantly, I was in love. With all of them. But much to my chagrin, my parents told me we couldn't keep them all because there were many other families who were looking for an amazing dog like we had. I could keep Lady. Lady was my best friend for 12 years. Lady passed away peacefully in her sleep when I was 18 years old, leaving me absolutely heartbroken. That void remained until when I travelled to Colorado Springs for a bouncy, fluffy puppy we named Lady Liberty. Our breed Unlike my Lady who epitomized the gentle, graceful, always-cuddly golden retriever, Lady Liberty was and still is the bouncy, independent, always-wanting-to-play with her humans type. Unlike many other breeds, they are "puppies" for the first years of their life. Your puppy will be a "sporting" dog and need LOTS of attention and activity as he or she grows. That said, every puppy is different and some golden puppies, like my Lady, have calmer personalities than others. On our puppy buyer questionnaire, please be sure to indicate the type of personality you're looking for so we can help connect you with the best puppy for your family. Exercise Grooming The Golden Retriever is believed to have originated from the Russian tracker dog which has now gone into extinction. The Golden Retriever is best described as a kind, friendly and confident which is why it makes a really good family pet. It also has an eagerness to always please its family. In addition, it is a very active and fun-loving animal with a well-mannered temperament. This breed is well suited to rural environments and homes that have yards, it can also easily adapt to a cold environment because it possesses a lot of hair. Although it loves the outdoor life, it still remains a family dog that requires regular family interaction. The Golden Retriever can do well both indoor and outdoor if it is properly trained and stimulated. A Lilac Frenchie?? A Fluffy Frenchie??? Meet the Piebald Frenchie — the cow-print-like Frenchie pattern. So then what does a Piebald or Pied Frenchie look like? A Piebald coat is characterized by… Predominantly white base: The majority of the coat is white, providing a contrasting background for the colored patches. Colored patches: The piebald coat features irregularly shaped patches of color that can vary in size, shape, and location. Common colors for these patches include black, brown, brindle, fawn, and grey, depending on the breed. The most common patch color is black. Ticking: Some Piebald dogs may also exhibit small spots or flecks of color, known as ticking, within the white areas of their coat. What gives Piebald French Bulldogs their appearance? The piebald coat color in dogs is caused by a gene mutation of the MITF gene. The piebald gene must be inherited from both parents in order for a dog to display the piebald coat color. This means that two dogs that are not piebald can only produce a piebald puppy if they both carry the piebald gene. However, in piebald animals, the pigment is concentrated in certain areas, creating patches of color that contrast with the base color of the coat. The types of Piebald French Bulldogs Black and white piebald: This is one of the most common types of Pied Frenchies, and features black patches on a white coat. The American Kennel Club ranks them as the most popular dog in New York City and fourth-most desirable dog breeds in the world. The Frenchies are playful and alert, have pleasant and infectious personalities, adapt well to family life, are good around children, and get along well with other pets. Another unique characteristic of the Frenchies is the variety of coat color patterns they come in. There are many physical variations of these dogs, especially when it comes to coat colors. This means that if you prefer dogs of certain colors, this breed is sure to accommodate your preferences. If it is your first time to deal with Frenchies, however, picking out a new pup can be a little bit intimidating because there are so many terms that are used to describe different Frenchie coat color patterns. To help you choose the right pet, this post will focus on Pied French Bulldogs. We will cover what a Pied Frenchie is and what you can expect when you own one. Pied or Piebald Frenchies are French Bulldogs with predominantly white coats with large dark-colored patches on different parts of the body—mostly on the back, under the neck, and around the ears and eyes. In other words, for a Frenchie to be recognized as Pied, it must have at least 50 percent of patches or spots of white and another color. However, the spots or patches can also be dark gray, black, or brown. So: Fawn Pied French Bulldogs: May have a white coat with fawn patches or a fawn color with black patches. Cream Pied French Bulldogs: Have cream coats with fawn patches. Blue Pied Frenchies: Have blue coats with patches of white or cream. So, Pied can be said to be the exact opposite of Brindle. A dog has 39 pairs of chromosomes. Out of these 39 pairs, one pair is a sex chromosome—it is what determines whether a dog is male or female. Autosomal inheritance of a gene simply implies that a gene is located on one of the other 38 pairs of chromosomes. This means that both a male and female dog are equally likely to have the gene. Recessive means that a dog must inherit both copies of the gene to display the trait in this case, a pied coat pattern. Instead, he or she will be a carrier. Instead, you will end up with all solid colored Frenchies who are carriers of the Pied gene. Pied French Bulldog Grooming Needs Pied Frenchies are fairly easy to groom as all they need is occasional brushing to remove loose hair and distribute natural oils evenly, keeping their coats healthy. So, you can always schedule the hair combing tasks to weekends as brushing their coats once a week will just suffice. Here are also other great grooming tools that we recommend for Pied Frenchies: 25 Best Deshedding Tools for Short Hair Dogs Ear and facial wrinkles, as well as the areas under the tail of Pied Frenchies, are susceptible to dirt and dust. Strive to keep them clean and dry to prevent potential bacterial infection. Every time you clean them, take your time to dry the skin between the folds. Considering that Frenchies are not as active as other dog breeds, their nails tend to become uncomfortably long within a short period. Due to their brachycephalic shaped faces, they have narrow nostrils and shortened muzzles, which somehow limit the supply of oxygen to their bodies. Nevertheless, they are heavy-chested and need short-time exercise routines to keep their weight in check. Some of the best exercises for these cute, short-legged canines include daily short walks, chasing a hanging piece, catching a ball, etc. Getting them a motion-activated toy can also take care of their exercise needs perfectly. Their shorts and disproportionately large heads also make it hard for these little cuties to stay afloat in water. You should always take great care of your Frenchie when he is around swimming pools, rivers, and ponds. Related Posts: Barrel Chest Dog Breeds Pied French Bulldog Health Issues Brachycephalic Syndrome: Their brachycephalic shaped faces have serious health implications including narrow nostrils, obstructed airways, eye socket related issues, and dental problems. The condition can cause anything from loud or labored breathing, snoring, snuffing to collapse of the airway. Heat and Cold Intolerance: These dogs are susceptible to heat exhaustion and often need air-conditioned environments. If you live in cold regions, always dress your Frenchie with a winter jacket. Patellar Luxation: This is a common problem in small dogs, including Frenchies, and occurs when the patella is not properly aligned and luxates or slips in and out. Related Posts: 12 Best Luxating Patella Dog Supplements Potential for Obesity: Because of their heavy bone structures, even a slight weight gain of 5lbs can be problematic for these little cuties. Eye Conditions: French Bulldogs suffer from a wide range of eye conditions including entropion, juvenile cataracts, cherry eye, etc. Related Posts:. Fawn pied Frenchies are basic white and contain various numbers and patterns of fawn patches which patches can be varying shades of fawn, even varying on the same Frenchie. Some pieds have only a few patches while others have several. Some of the patches are small silver dollar size making these Frenchies mostly white while others have large patches which meld into other patches making these Frenchies more fawn than white. Some of the fawn pieds have a black mask while others have lighter masks. Here are some examples of various fawn pieds and I think we can all agree they are beautiful! Greetings from Bruiser Bulldogs and The Wysongs We are a family absolutely in love with the Bulldog breed and are dedicated to breeding genetically healthy English Bulldog puppies. As responsible AKC English Bulldog breeders, our extensive experience and unique take on the need for a healthier English Bulldog has positioned our breeding program as a visionary leader for adopters in search of a higher quality Bulldog. At our core, we love placing healthy, properly socialized puppies into loving families. There is no greater joy than to be able to share our lifelong passion for English Bulldogs with our adopter families. Feel free to read our blog , watch our videos and learn why Bruiser Bulldogs is producing a better bulldog. Instead of focusing on maximizing wrinkles or winning in the show ring, we have built our foundational bloodlines over the past decade with a focus on health first on foremost. Sires and Dams are health tested with a unique criteria. Bruiser Bulldogs must breathe freely, move athletically while still maintaining that classic English Bulldog look that people around the world have come to love. Our goal has always been consistently produce puppies that are both a head turner and fundamentally healthy Bloodline development is the key to producing healthy bulldogs. We believe that foundational genetics are created through layer after layer of breeding healthy generations of bulldogs. Over the course of a decade, we have focused on a stringent set of health criteria to gradually improve the health and quality of the dogs we produce. The rare combination of experience, repetition, and ethical awareness of correct breeding practices has set our breeding program at the forefront of responsible breeding practices. The process truly is an adoption that affects the time, focus, and schedules of each household that gets a puppy from us. After a healthy puppy , the single most critical factor for a successful bulldog adoption is adopter support. The English Bulldog is unique breed with a unique set of caretaking criteria. Previous dog ownership, while helpful, is not enough to fully prepare an adopter for English Bulldog ownership. We always say the adoption is just the beginning of our journey. Through blog articles and email prep, we focus on such topics as socialization, crate training, disease prevention, potty training, nutrition, and basic puppy supplies to ensure that each adopter will be fully prepared for their new puppy. When we take her for walks everyone who passes comment on how beautiful she is. It took a long time to decide what kind of dog to get as we are very fussy around the house and didn't want a bouncy dog. This is the perfect dog for our lifestyle. She likes walks but does like to stop and have a drink and when we get back home she just flakes out for a few hours. She was brilliant to housetrain and went out to do her business almost right away. We had a little problem with her doing the odd pee on the rug so we removed the rug and haven't had a problem since. The best way to determine the temperament of a mixed breed is to look up all breeds in the cross and know you can get any combination of any of the characteristics found in any of the breeds in the hybrid. It is very common for breeders to breed multi-generation crosses. The hybrid was first bred in Rossendale, Lancashire, England by Robert J Taylor, who hopes to continue the breedings with the goal of creating a new purebred dog. In the last few years it has become clear that most people would prefer their puppy to be transported using our White Glove transport or Nanny Flight transport. Today, we have requests for our Puppies from all over the country. Because of this, the majority those requesting a Sugarplum Bulldog Puppy have also requested transport to their area of the country; those in Florida, for example, cannot easily make the drive to RI. As such, the majority of our Puppies have shifted to a transport model; this gets them closer to their new forever home. Because of this, we have come to the decision, that for the well being of our Puppies and for the benefit of our new Sugarplum Bulldog owners, we have developed a transport model for our pups using our Puppy-Mobile with direct transport to the pups new Forever Home! Our Mid-Western breeding home is co-owned by Sugarplum Bulldogs, and our partner. I realize that not having a chance to play with the Pups is disappointing to some, but please understand that our team are dedicated to the highest level of care for our little Pups. We truly feel that this new model is in the best interested of our Puppies and their new homes. Please feel free to ask me any questions…. Life Span Did You Know? The current role most suitable for the English Bulldog would be as a companion or family pet, given their sweet demeanor. The English Bulldog is relatively easy to train but definitely takes some work for more complicated commands. If you are looking for a breed to sit, stay, and play dead for treats, this is the breed for you. While they may not be the sharpest tool in the shed compared to some of the other highly intelligent breeds, they are easy going and apt to please their owner. Training this breed will be accomplished with less difficulty if you make the training reward based. Can you say Sweetheart? While this dog breed makes an above average watchdog because of their courage, this breed is a loving companion at heart. The Bulldog is excellent with kids when socialized and should be very agreeable with guests of the house. The English Bulldog breed as a whole is heralded as one of the most well liked companion breeds in the world. The Bulldog should do well with other family pets as long as properly introduced and socialized. They need to be socialized early and often to curb any negative feelings towards strange dogs. This breed is generally agreeable to most environments. Although they easily adapt to a noisy and chaotic household, they are not very tolerant of extreme weather, whether it be hot or cold. Although they are well liked and very popular, one must be aware of the potential health pitfalls with this breed. Some of the potential issues you can see with the English Bulldog is Cherry Eye, Entropion, or dysplasia. This breed also has a high risk for weight gain, so this should be monitored. An average Bulldog life span is between 8 and 12 years. You do not need to be a professional dog trainer to own an English Bulldog. They are good for most novice owners because they are passive by nature. The English Bulldog is an average shedder, so brushing him twice a week with a firm brush will be a good idea. Also, they can have a tendency to drool, so making sure you wipe their face off everyday can help ensure they do not suffer irritation on their faces and between their wrinkles. Because of the amount of wrinkles they have, it is recommended that you clean between the wrinkles fairly often to avoid irritations. The English Bulldog is a generally low energy breed. They do not require a lot of exercise, but when they do play, they play hard! Because they can be intense when they do have an energy burst, an owner must be aware of overexertion. They can be very playful, but do tend to tire out quickly. The English Bulldog is a short, stocky breed that should weigh between pounds. This dog breed generally lives for years. Most Bulldogs cannot swim. Most Bulldogs wheeze and snore, and some drool. Coat care is minimal, but facial wrinkles and any folds around the tail should be cleaned daily. Special precautions must be taken when anesthetizing a Bulldog. Caesarean deliveries are commonly needed. Hip radiographs show most Bulldogs to be dysplastic but few show overt symptoms. History With the most distinctive mug in dogdom, the Bulldog has an equally distinctive history. Some Bulldogs were also set against bears for bear baiting, purely for entertainment. In , bull baiting was outlawed, and a new phase began for the Bulldog. By all rights, the breed should have become extinct, except that it had gained so many ardent admirers that they set out to rescue the Bulldog by selecting against ferocity while still maintaining—and often accentuating—its distinctive physical characteristics. Its tough steadfast persona led it to be identified as a national symbol of England. Its amiable clownish personality belies its appearance, and the Bulldog is a popular pet. Related Content.
