Upon getting the puppy in the car, we noticed a very strong odor. He was covered in feces. After a 2 hour drive, we got him home and put him directly in a bath. Unfortunately, we could not get the feces out of his paws. We isolated him and took him to the groomer the following morning, Friday, January 29th. The groomer told us that his urine did not look right. We took him to the vet that day. Vet said he may have worms. Gave us oral meds to give him. This entire time, my puppy has been sleeping, lethargic, will not eat or drink. Woke up Saturday morning to a whimpering, little sad pup. Took him back to the vet, who told me he had a fever and to go directly to the hospital. He was admitted. So far he had fever, he was anemic, he white cell count was off the charts, and he has a hernia. I was given an unfit for sale certificate. How could anyone do this to a living thing? What kind of conditions was he living in? What happened to his other litter mates? What about the vet bills? What about the grooming bill to get the feces out of his paws? I responded to an ad from an Amish breeder, and since my pug of 12 years came from an Amish breeder I decided to make the 3 hour trip. More Keep in mind not all Amish breeders are puppy mills, you have to check these things out. Just as my pug's breeder the ACD pups were inside their house with mom, who was their family pet, and dad, who was also a family pet, was out in their barn working their chickens rounding them up. They only had the 2 ACD and 1 older sheepdog in their home along with the litter of 6 pups. She had no problems at all from day one and she is my baby girl she's too smart for her own good. Again you have to beware, there are a lot of Amish puppy mills, but from what I've seen on Greenfield Puppies, the Amish breeders they advertise only breed one type of dog typically, and the parents are family pets. The puppies grow up with children and other animals so they are socialized. As long as you do your homework you'll be fine.
