Regarding recalls of Royal Canin products, there have been a few in recent years. The most recent recall for Royal Canin was in May .The company was told to recall various Royal Canin pet foods, which involved multiple Kasco and Sensible Choice formulas due to possible melamine contamination. The ingredients used in their dog foods are not as high-quality as brands with a similar price tag since they use controversial ingredients such as maize corn , hydrolyzed animal protein, and animal by-products. These types of ingredients are not very nutritious for dogs, and hydrolyzed animal proteins do not name which parts of the animal they come from. This is not to say Royal Canin is a bad brand. The huge variety in their pet foods is notable, and they tailor to an array of different types of dogs and cats, whether they are purebred, small, medium, large, or suffer from a specific health condition. This aspect alone makes it clear why they are popular among cat and dog owners, as not many other pet food brands offer such an elaborate range of products. Based on reviews from consumers, a lot of pet owners are happy and satisfied with their dog foods, so it does show that the brand has worked well with a lot of pets. Additionally, Royal Canin products are available in most pet stores and even veterinarian offices. Product Name. We switched to this when we got her. Reviews are all mixed but I think it might just be really dependent on your dog. Our black lab loves this food. She would much rather have Royal Canin than any of her treats! I would highly recommend. And yes, I transitioned him to the new food slowly. Switched him back to his old food recently and seems to be doing completely fine again. I have never see him physically recoil from any food, but he will not touch this. Took a sniff or two, tried two kibbles I fed him by hand, and backed away. Head-turning, tail down, not going to eat this face. I tried it again the next day. Same reaction. Same rejection. She tried it, immediately spit it out, and would not touch the bowl of food I had mixed it with. Zero for two with my dogs. I will be reaching out to Chewy about this food, because if a lab thinks food is bad, it must taste terrible. Very bizarre. After buying it, I noticed the ingredients list contained many items, including multiple grains. I decided to try a grain free diet instead. Rise in price and less food in the bag is pretty crappy on their part. My puppy is trying to transition from another brand to the Royal Canin that I purchased and is not doing well. She is smart, has a great almost non shedding coat that is thick and shiny black. Her teeth are healthy, white, and strong. This kibble is nice small round pieces think mini donuts this kibble is so good that if our dog leaves any or drops any my kitties will seize upon that opportunity and eat the dog food. You get what you put into your dog, with this food you always get quality. No choking hazard cause of the baby holes, like Cheerios! Chewy has been great; easy to use, fast delivery, great customer service. When I learned how many calories the previous brand had per cup, by advise of my vet, I needed to find a lower calorie alternative to my growing a bit to much pup. I researched and found this product. She loves it and it has helped bring her weight down to a health level! Will move to the adult version next! My Lab loves it and keeps in excellent shape and coat looks lovely! He has a lovely shiny coat and gains by weight whilst keeping his shape. I love this good I'm 7 month black lab, bloody love this stuff.I always buy two bags at a time, and Zooplus seems to beat the others on price. I sometimes get lucky and recieve the 12kg bags with 2kg extra free, an offer that comes a few times a year from RC. Zooplus service is always very good, can't fault them at all. Thanks Zooplus. She was suffering from colitis and the dried food she was on was she experienced often bouts of diarrhea. This food is excellent, she eats it without adding anything, smells nice and is moist. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Royal Canin absolutely brilliant. Comes perfectly packaged in a cardboard box, quick delivery so a win win situation. I will be back for more next month. Yes its quite expensive but the positive points make up for it. Her coat always has a beautiful shiny lustre to it and her energy levels when needed are there. She always gets excited at meal times so we know she enjoys it too. She also has a beautiful shape to her that is sadly quite rare in dogs nowadays. In all fantastic dry dog food. We are very happy! On top of that they give you extra savings too! Much lower output and she doesnt bolt her food. Pippa is healthy and growing fast. My puppy dog loves this food, has never had any problems with it and his coat is silky and shiny. Transformation has been incredible - vets have never seen a coat so shiny and say what wonderful condition our dogs are in. And no more anti-social moments so highly recommended! He eats until he is finished, without putting on weight. I was worried about this at first but then I thought it must be because this food is very satisfying. My dog is 13 months old and this food is perfect for her! She is not chubby and seems satisfied after every meal.
