The Boxers we rescue have had many medical and behavior issues. We have limited Foster Homes and have to match the new rescue Boxer to the right home and that can be a challenge. We have to stay within our means. We are not set up for emergencies or to take strays while trying to find the owner. We do refer to other rescues that may be able to help. They are living in their Foster Homes, which limits the space that we have for new Boxers. Prayers needed for our Boxers. Many rescue groups have specific guidelines for adopting a rescue boxer and they should either be listed on their website or available from a rescue volunteer. There may be personal or veterinary references required or a home visit. Please understand that the volunteers with these rescue grous have put in such hard work and have an emotional bond with these abandoned and unwanted dogs, that they are striving to ensure that the forever home the dog goes to is, indeed, going to be forever. A reputable rescue group does not make a profit on their adoptions, so a little extra to the group can go a long way in helping other rescued boxers. The house was free of tumbleweeds. Sleeping in, and not taking the kids out in the rain, wind, snow or dead heat of the summer has been liberating. The idea of traveling and not needing to find a pet sitter was super enticing. So we decided to finally get a Pug. Having almost a year off from having a dog in the house was different. It was necessary. Especially after saying goodbye over the past years to our grumble of senior pugs. I needed time. Now of course, we chatted periodically about getting a Pug and collectively decided that when the time was right we would look for a black female Pug. Added bonus and cherry on top are the especially wonky eyes, not so curly pug tail and left white paw. Not exactly what I originally had in mind. But CHIP was meant to be ours. Chip has been with us for 3 months now. Puppy training. Ok Pugs in general are pretty hard-headed dogs. Pug puppies require a bit of work, and that means making time for basic training. We got lucky with Sebastian, he had Thumper and Bambi to emulate. Having an established pack of already trained dogs made our job as Pug owners so freaking easy. They believe that they are undercover rottweilers. They are sturdy, love to play, love to sleep on your lap, and love treats and meals. Most pugs will need a diet at some point unless you can withstand those sweet faces! They bond with the entire family and specially treat each family member, puged to what the person needs. I am a hardcore fan. Just remember, you can and should obedience train a pug. But never mistake your pug for a dog. They overheat quickly, so leaving them outside is dangerous for the pug. The have energy if you do, but pugs love hanging out on the sofa and chilling with you. I love her to death, I've had her since she was 6wks. I've always been a lg breed owner and at first didn't know how to being or really what to do or expect. But we learned from each other and it all turned out great!!! They are so easy to train and smart! I recommend this breed. I love my pug! She is so sweet, fun, loving and cute!!!!
