He is amazing. He is calm yet playful, affectionate, and a total love. Literally nothing phases him. He has been exposed to thunder, fire works, loud mechanical noises, vacuums right up to his crate, umbrellas, and all of the other things people find puppies dislike with no issues. He barked inside of the house for the first time ever two days ago, and it looks like he did so because we had a fox skulking around the house. He prefers to be with us all the time, but has no problem going into his crate when we need him to do so. He is quiet as a mouse from the time we crate him at night until we get him out in the morning typically between pm and 6 am. Training has gone very easily. He has occasional stubborn moments, but for the most part, unless we are working on something brand new or really difficult, we do not need to treat with food any longer as he is extremely responsive to praise and petting. The biggest training challenges we have had with him came from his desire to meet and greet every person and dog he sees. The last big basic thing that we continue to need to work on is jumping up on new people. If we know someone new is coming to the house, we keep a leash on him and he is getting much better about not jumping. I would say he is 90 percent there. He walks beautifully on a leash until we are about fifty feet from returning to our house, then he gets the zoomies and either pulls or tries to grab the leash. We generally stop and put him into sit, down for few seconds, then resume the walk. Normally we only have to do that once. In fact we had such a great experience with Cheryl that when we decided to get a friend for Dex and more Boxer love for us, we contacted Cheryl and we bought our little girl Remi basically over the phone. Cheryl sent us some pictures of her and we fell in love. Over the next 2 weeks Cheryl was great with sending videos and pics before pick up day. We have gotten a lot of compliments on Dex and Remi Kristen We contacted Cheryl through her website, we were not sure we wanted to travel to Tucson but after looking at her pups online we were interested. There just was nothing in Phoenix. Either they didn't have the mom or they didn't have the dad, we weren't interested. So we drove down to meet Cheryl. She was well into breeding and knew a lot about the boxer breed. She didn't have any puppies available at the time as they were all sold. But we came on a visitation day, we were impressed with her puppies. She said there would be a couple of litters coming up if we were interested. We wanted a flashy female. She called us in a couple weeks and said she had one come available and we could have her in 5 weeks, we could come and see her in a week so we jumped at the chance. Tucson On an odd rainy day in February, I met up with Cheryl at the vet's office to meet Valentino, when I saw the puppies I could not decide which one so I adopted them both as love is not for sale. There were only 3 in their litter and Romeo was already reserved. Teddy and Valentino named so due to being born on Valentines Day are the love that we needed in our family. Let me tell you, sometimes they are very mischievous, rambunctious and can be down right stubborn. With that being said, I would not trade them for the world. Valentino is the leader, he has gotten into the sink and stole a defrosting London Broil. How did he get into the sink? Maybe he stood on Teddy's back. I can imagine them doing this, they are THAT intelligent. Well dinner was a little late but I was more concerned about his sensitive stomach. Teddy loves being on my white Italian leather sofa, he loves it so much that he smelled something probably crumbs and tore a hole right into the shoulder of it. I spent a Saturday sewing it up, while arguing with Teddy. He has claimed this sofa as his own. This is the love that I speak of. No matter what they get into, just one look at those sad eyes and I am a big bag of mush. They are the cleanest babies I have ever seen. They love to play in the mud and I let them! They are my babies. They are so smart, I lock them out of the doggie door and they will clean themselves, when finished they knock on the door. They loves kids! They use to jump on them but I have trained them that babies cry. So now they walk up and allow them to pet them while they wag their stumps and drool thank goodness Walmart has an endless supply of baby wipes. They are very territorial,nthis is our fault. We have kept them all to ourselves. We love them so much. Cheryl, the cost that we paid for them is nothing to the joy that they have brought us. If your Goldendoodle has curly or wavy hair like its Poodle parents, regular, daily brushing is essential. If their coat is more similar to a Golden Retriever, regular brushing is not as essential. Both Poodles and Golden Retrievers are prone to hip dysplasia, so this can be a concern in Goldendoodles. Other common issues among these breeds are eye problems and ear infections. Regular eye checks with a vet are recommended, and making sure your Goldendoodles ear canal remains dry will help mitigate any ear issues, especially if they have big, droopy ears. Goldendoodle Energy or Activity Level Goldendoodles or Groodles generally have moderate energy levels with smaller Goldendoodles having fewer energy levels than their larger kin. Goldendoodle Generations Although responsible breeding can reduce the risk of potential problems, their pedigree or Goldendoodle generation plays an important role in their physical traits and risk of potential health problems. The first-generation Groodle always inherits the shedding gene from the golden retriever and sheds everything from a small number to an almost complete retriever. Because F1s always almost shed, I recommend getting a genetically coat-tested doodle from multiple generations. What are the Labeling standards for Goldendoodle Generations? It can be confusing at first, but it gets easier once you get used to it. The Number Numbers are the main indicator of the generation to which Goldendoodle belongs. For instance, number 1 indicates the 1st generation while 2 indicates the 2nd generation. This letter means backcross. It indicates that the Goldendoodle generation needs to be returned to the purebred poodle. Gene mixing tends to reduce the health risks that might be associated with the purebred specimen The Shedding: The majority range from Light to Heavy shedding Potential for Allergy: For a family with Severe to moderate allergies, I do not recommend getting this Generation. However, it is okay for a family with mild allergies. The Coat: Their coat can be naturally grown from inches, and they would require regular grooming and combing. You can choose to trim the fur coat every couple of months. This could help reduce maintenance costs for your Groodle. The Grooming: Moderate-High grooming is required. For an F1 Goldendoodle, the b would mean that it was bred back to a parent purebred. It could either be a purebred retriever or a purebred poodle. Genetically, It means they are still the first generation. However, the characteristics of either the poodle or the retriever are enhanced. Some breeders often cross a Groodle and Poodle to increase the possibility of having lower-shedding litters. That means the level of shedding reflects the level of a First generation low — high shedding. When a breeder coat tests the pups, this factor may be apparent in the first few weeks of life. It can be anywhere over 35 inches and could become curly, straight, or wavy. If you are worried about how often you brush their fur, you can choose to trim the fur to save grooming time and make your dog comfortable, especially during winter. Potential for Allergy: Working with breeders to coat test pups and parents is the safest way for families with allergies to adopt F2b pups. Making the right health choices as a dog owner is key to ensuring your dog lives long. Grooming Goldendoodle Goldendoodles come in a variety of coats.
