Stick to the diet suggested by the breeder until the puppy has settled well into his new home before you make any changes. Well bred puppies should also be Kennel Club Registered, this is proof of lineage. There is no reason not to register a litter, it cost very little. Be wary of breeders offering puppies un-registered. Puppies should also come with advice of worming, vaccination and some offer an insurance cover note to cover pups for first few weeks. Do your homework. Buy, or borrow from the library, all the books you can on Goldens. Puppies do not sit gift wrapped on a shelf — be prepared to wait for the puppy of your choice. Caring for your new puppy. Training should start as soon as you arrive home. Have one set of rules for all the family and stick to them. Puppies, like young children, need routine and firmly established ground rules. Goldens are good with children, but make sure your children are taught to be caring and responsible with dogs. A puppy is a living, breathing real-life creature, not a toy and should be treated with respect. Your children and your puppy. Provide the puppy with its own bed and do not allow the children to disturb the puppy when it is sleeping. Always make sure there are no staples that the puppy could swallow. Do not allow young children to pick up the puppy. Do not allow very young children to play with the puppy unsupervised. Do not allow children to become over excited around the puppy. If he is told off at this point he will associate the punishment with coming to you, not the fact that it was in his own time. NEVER hit a young puppy; violence solves nothing and your dog will associate pain to being with you and it will take weeks of patience to win him round again. Teach your puppy to accept you as his new pack-leader and that what you say goes. Use short one-word commands, but try to make learning fun. If you have a dominant, greedy puppy who guards his food, hand feeding him for several meals often works. If the puppy growls and guards a prized possession, remove the article and spend time giving the item back and then gently removing it again, until the puppy accepts your supremacy. Initially, a play in your garden is quite sufficient for your new puppy. After he has received his vaccinations, start with 10 to 15 minutes exercise off the lead in a safe area allowing him to set the pace. Exercise can be increased as the puppy grows, but very gradually. Remember your puppy is growing at an alarming rate and over-exercise and too boisterous play can cause damage to joints and cartilage later on. I had indeed receved more information about Amigo, the puppy I was interested in. The email asked me to answer the following questions about my lifestyle and how it would affect the dog. I received another email describing how the delivery processed worked. We set up a delivery time and I provided her with my home address. All of this took place on Saturday, April 11, , through texting. I asked if I could have a current picture of Amigo and if I could have a vet update. I am quite aware of the complaint. However all what is explained is true but you also have to understand that I have been in this business for over 9 years. I have had situation's where fraudsters contacted my and follow up the process just like she did, just to take documents of my current papers and vet records to use them to carry out fraudulent activities. I was also out of town to deliver one of my pugs to his new home since it was 5 hours drive. I always expect my buyers to ask for al documents and prove of existence before signing the contract. It is clearly stated in my contact and in my email to explain how delivery process works that you fully understand the process before providing your information's for contract agreement to be prepared. If a buyers reads and understand the process, then sign the contract and when I provide information's for buyer to make payment and you start asking more and more question's, I will not respond because you just would have done that before signing contract and requesting for address to make payment. Also I did told her to always read and understand all process before signing and after signing the contract, all you need to do is respect terms in the contract and not to keep asking question's when I have buyers requesting to make instant payment for the pet you are asking. Also I searched for pet stores in her area and asked her to head to one of them and purchase a pet from there since she will be asking all sort of lerm questions after contract signing and receiving address for payment. She should never contact me again to purchase from me because I only sell to serious buyers. We were worried about the smallest puppies, especially the little black female, who was quite lethargic and dehydrated. We named her Baby Ruth. After a phone conference with Cindy, we made a stop at the closest Petsmart and got some puppy replacement milk and an eyedropper and got her to take about 5 droppers full. I held her on my lap in the sun while Becky drove. After an hour or so, Baby Ruth perked up and started looking around. When we made it to Texas an hour or two later, we stopped for the first potty break, setting up our x-pen at the Texas welcome rest stop. The older pups all went potty and had a drink; then they wanted to play. Although she was still very shy with us, Jujube started to play with her male admirers! He sat up and was interested in the goings on, but did not participate.
