The only concern that we have is that our dog came with Kennel Cough. An unnecessary expense that our breeder, Morgan, should have taken care of before we received our puppy. We have taken him to the vet to start our puppy on antibiotics. Tibbitts I love my bulldog and his sister! J Tapia a year ago My guy is 8 and in perfect shape! Just updating this! My guy is gonna be ten in April. His father was Searg and his mother was Sweetvine. Morgan was great to work with. She was patient and thorough with all of our questions when we first got him. My recommendation to any bulldog owner is to be sure to have a vet who truly knows and loves the breed. Bulldogs are known to have more health issues than some other breeds, but they can certainly live long healthy lives, especially if they have a healthy start to their life. Morgan will be honest and open to discuss any health concerns you may have, as well as give vet recommendations or general info. I love my dog and we are forever grateful to Morgan for doing all the work she does for this amazing breed. Jasmin Portillo 2 years ago I will definitely recommend sugarplum to whoever is looking to purchase a bulldog. You can tell Morgan is a professional and takes really good care the pups while in her care. We will dependently purchase another bulldog from her in the near future. Karl Beckett 2 years ago I purchased my English bulldog in August .The entire process of purchasing her as well as picking her up at the time was incredibly simple. All the animals there seemed to be very happy, well cared for, and healthy. I reached out at the end of March asking for info about her new process and she was extremely responsive. I also told her I was looking for a certain head shape and she was super willing and responsive about the sires. I emailed twice and called twice over the span of 2 months with no response. I was not pushy or unkind, In fact I led each communication with grace acknowledging that she must be busy, and still no response. This made me think about why she might be concealing information about her female bulldogs. I began to feel very uncomfortable about this business and putting a deposit down on a breed that is known for genetic health issues without any information on one of the parents. I know Morgan reads these reviews, so perhaps she will provide an explanation about the female bulldogs she breeds on here, as I was not able to receive an answer myself. Rameen Maleki I had my puppy Rocky there twice and they have been great. Katherine Fitch Our little bully is great! She is the joy of our life. I got her back in from Morgan and her helper, I'm forgetting his name, and they were both great. I had made an appointment to come check out the puppies and they let me sit with them for a couple hours before making a decision so I didn't feel rushed and definitely made the right choice. She is about 42 pounds and looks much smaller than most other bullies. Ming did have a lot of health problems her first year but I was prepared for this since everything I read on bulldogs said this was a high probability. It was life changing for Ming Ming who suffered from pneumonia a few times in her first year. She had to go to the ER a twice and a lot of the vets didn't know how to stop this from happening until I found out about that surgery. John Strutt 2 years ago I have to say, sugarplum gets a bad rep. I bought Maya Aggie about two years ago. She is the most energetic loving bulldog I could have asked for. She has the sweetest temperament and is a wonderful addition to the family. Great around kids and other dogs. Already recommended this place to others. Jean Bricker 3. Work on your self and treat your dogs better! Henry Lachowicz 2 years ago Definitely a puppy mill. She has some farm in Missouri and you never get to see the parents. Our bully had nothing but temperament issues, and its sad. We were accidentally referred here and its the biggest mistake we ever made. Deborah Shomaker 2 years ago I purchased a blue and white male bulldog 3 weeks ago. He is doing great. He is a wonderful addition to our family. He is very healthy. Everything went smoothly from purchase to delivery. This is an unethical business that does not represent itself in a straightforward way that plays fast and loose with their dogs' wellbeing. In we were naive and wide-eyed optimists and all too desperate to find a bulldog to join our family. We didn't ask hard questions and we came to regret it. Looking back, there were so many things that should have raised red flags. She told us that she was a breeder, and yet when we arrived she shifted the story to say that she was in the process of setting up as a breeder, and converting her space. On the phone she never made it clear that the puppies she had were from out of state, we came to find out ours was from Missouri, bred by a woman whose name we found had multiple liens against her for bad business practices. If you are wondering why I'm writing this review after so many years it's because I have had mixed feelings. Winston the bulldog is a constant joy, and I regret nothing even though he needed multiple surgeries in the months after we bought him because of a congenital hernia that every vet we saw said demonstrated that the breeder had been irresponsible. Even after thousands of dollars in vet bills, I do not regret choosing Winston, but what I regret and wish I could change is ever having supported this unethical business. Cindy Short 2 years ago Have had our baby for almost a year and the most amazing EB ever. Very responsive, white glove delivery, and exactly as promised. He is a "smaller" of the breed which we love. We knew about the midwest birthing facility and even had someone in the 'biz' check them out. Would highly recommend them for sure. Especially if you want a medium to smaller EB. She is full of energy, personality, and fun! She is our first English Bulldog but definitely won't be the last as long as Morgan is the breeder. Luna has only needed her well visits to the vet and spaying. Do not hesitate to work with Morgan and Sugarplum Bulldogs to find a wonderful pup! Though I had never seen the breeding facilities myself and cannot speak on the quality of such, I can tell you that this is one extremely healthy, happy bulldog! Having been home two weeks now he has received an exceptional bill of health after a new puppy inspection with my veterinarian that I have been going to for over a decade, is fully crate trained, and getting consistently better potty training. That being said, I wanted to write this review in-depth because this is the first dog I have ever bought from a breeder and I had major apprehension doing so without visiting the facilities and whatnot first, but my experience has been very good start to end and I based on such I would highly recommend Sugarplum Bulldog thanks to the quality of the little guy who's now a part of my family. I can't speak for others' experiences, but I hope this and the attached images help to clear up some of the posts that made me initially question Sugarplum Bulldogs, as I am an actual owner of one and am speaking only on my experiences as such. Hope this helps! Michelle Dabney 2 years ago I love Sugarplum Bulldogs! Morgan has been wonderful - so knowledgeable and responsive! We are fortunate to have 2 babies from Sugarplum. We got our first four years ago, and our second just last week. Although our newer addition was a little sick when she arrived, Morgan was very responsive and took care of everything. Years ago, when we were looking for our first bulldog, I unknowingly talked to a couple of sellers who turned out to be selling on behalf of what I assume were puppy mills. They were high pressure selling and not very knowledgeable about the puppies except for the basics. Thankfully we found Sugarplum Bulldogs! We even already used the same vet. So when we brought our puppy in for his first vet check-up, they immediately asked if he is a Sugarplum because they know her dogs! When we were ready to get a 2nd one, there was no question we would contact Morgan! I know it is scary to get a pet sight unseen, but I would encourage anyone to talk to Morgan. She knows so much about her dogs and the breed — she is so helpful! And if there are any issues, my experience has been that she is very honest and will make it right. We could not be happier with our bulldogs pictured here with our rescue pet puggle , and we are so happy to work with Morgan and Sugarplum Bulldogs!!! Mirna C 2 years ago Morgan answered all my questions with kindness and professionalism every time I reached out to her. I was able to reach her via phone and email. She was very patient with all my questions as this was my first time purchasing a bulldog. She even offered to answer my questions if I didn't purchase a pet from her. Sugar Plum works with a puppy mill in Missouri where the animal welfare laws are not strict. The dogs are then transported to VA to a nice, clean farm. You don't see the dogs that are bread and what is going on behind the scenes. We bought a puppy that had a heart murmur. We brought the puppy back and were given another puppy. She had 4 surgeries to get her to be okay before her first birthday. Our sweet baby passed away two weeks ago at the young age of four. We kept in touch with the lady who adopted her brother. He died a few weeks ago from cancer. Our friends, who we mistakenly referred to Sugar Plum, have two dogs from there. One has had two CCL repairs and the other, also 4-years-old, was just diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. Prognosis is not good. Bullies should not require surgery after surgery to make them okay and only live to be 4. Please, don't put yourself through the heartache we are going through. I made the mistake and purchased a puppy and he died 3 weeks after he was delivered to our home. His name was Bodhi and we loved him very much. .My family and I were devastated after loosing our puppy Bodhi. The night Bodhi died he was playing with his toys in the kitchen and during this time he was gasping for air. The doctors sedated him and put him on a ventilator. X ray showed no object blocking his air way. I am not a animal doctor but I believe my puppy was sickly from the day he was delivered to our home, not to mention Morgan owner of Sugerplum had my puppy delivered to us at 7 weeks old which is a direct violation of the breeding laws. I called Morgan the night my puppy died and told her what happen. Morgan did not care and she had no sympathy whatsoever. Way to go Morgan hope your happy. Who would ever think your puppy would die after 3 weeks of having him. .To everyone do not buy a puppy from Sugerplum find a local breeder who loves there animals and are not in it for the money. RiP Bodhi broken hearted Ray Teresa Chestnut 2 years ago Purchased a puppy less than six months ago for a friend recovering from cancer! She was at the vet at least once a week! Last night she had to be put down 5 months old! Is 5 months the life expectancy? Just long enough to fall totally in Love! Zoeh Byrd 2 years ago i have 2 wonderful puppies from sugarplum named max and molly! Mikey Miller 3 years ago Purchased a puppy from Sugar Plum a while back and he died within the first 2 weeks. We spent over 7 grand bringing him to different vets trying to keep him alive. When we contacted the breeder she tried to blame us for not taking proper care of the puppy. All of the vets that we brought him to said there was nothing more we could have done as owners to keep him alive. I was not planning on writing a review but I really do not want people to go though what my family went through. Please avoid this place. Ashley Wetherell 3 years ago This is a puppymill! I absolutely love my sweet fur baby, but I would never buy from them again nor reccomend them. I am sorry my answer is brief, I am traveling. Please do not buy from the pet store, this will only support the puppy mill industry. A good breeder will let you visit their home and see the mother or the father or both parents. Their breeding bulldogs should be seen as members of the family, not kept apart from the family. They will ask you to sign a contract that requires spay or neuter if the dog is not show quality. They will give a 1 year minimum health guarantee for congenital defects. The mother and the father will be registered in AKC or CKC or equivalent, and the litter of puppies will also be registered. They will give you the name of their vet and permit you to call them and you should. They should ask you questions about your family and your home, especially whether you own or rent, if your landlord allows pets, if you have air conditioning, if you have time to spend with the dog they are family dogs, not outside dogs, and do not do well without human contact , and if you have money for future health issues like cherry eye, skin allergies, elongated palate surgery, torn ACL, etc. Not all dogs have these, but there is a pretty good chance your dog may have at least 1 ailment that affects bulldogs specifically. My breeder also gave me a list of bulldog maintenance items to have, baby wipes everyday , chlorhexidine, ear drops, benedryl, canned pumpkin, baby shampoo, a dog crate, stainless steel food and water bowls. They are gorgeous and loving creatures but they are like a baby that we don't leave alone. They usually eat high quality dog food, my lola is on raw food, which really helps with skin allergies and overall health. And, Jonathan actually arrived early here in Auburn Maine! I was waiting right at my sliding glass doors when he texted me! What a great guy. She is so, so smart! Talks back! She's such a Blessing!!!! I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart. I was the one, who a couple of years ago had cancer, and you gave me my deposit back. And you didn't have to. God Bless You. I am over joyed with this gorgeous, crazy, silly girl!!! I love her so much! Thank you, so very much! Kathleen Byron Kathy! In fact all the vets I have every gone to think she is most healthiest and beautiful coat of any bulldog they have seen. She is now 11 years old, a little arthritis, maybe starting dementia, but could be eyes. I am taking her to eye specialist on Tuesday. I just wanted to let you know we love her and thank you for having such great puppies to pick from. He was obviously well loved and cared for. He's gorgeous, smart and confident. We've had him for 2 days and he's adjusted perfectly. She has a very friendly temperament and loves attention. Not only was Sugarplum Bulldog's process extremely organized from the moment of deposit to our visit to the farm, but it was also very thorough. We were able to get everything we needed, his food, his crate, vitamins, and the best health tips to keep Finn healthy and active. He has not had any health issues and transitioned so easily into our home, going potty outside, and interacting with other dogs belonging to our extended family and friends. Morgan helped us to select the best fit temperament pup for our lifestyle. I would recommend Sugarplum Bulldogs to anyone and plan on returning when we decide to introduce a second bully to our home. He is a wonderful addition to our family and has brought us a lot of love and joy. This breed is known for health issues but Morgan helped answer all our questions and gives you a complete take home folder with all instructions on diet, hygiene care, vaccines, health records, and her 1 year guarantee paper etc etc. Morgan is professional and you can tell she cares a lot about the puppies. The day we picked up our little boy she sat down with us and reviewed all care instructions and gave us a puppy care bag with food, a leash, harness, toys etc etc. Morgan made the process of buying our first family dog very comfortable and with confidence. My little fur boy is healthy and any concerns I can easily ask and contact his Grandma Morgan because Grandmas know best! Awesome quality breeding smaller in size and excellent bloodlines. Morgan is awesome and is very knowledgeable about the breed and supportive to bully owners. .Thanks Morgan we love Bentley! Call Morgan at for specific pup identification if you are leaning towards placing an early deposit. Please check back, we update our website daily! Please see our Deposit Page and our Transportation Page for information on getting your puppy. We love the English bulldog temperament, physique and expression, I just personally like it to be about lbs. We find the smaller sizes are more buoyant and playful and, though still very heat sensitive, are better able to cope with life in general. Downsizing an AKC breed takes time. Our girls all come from long lines of lb. We not trying for 20 pounders…our goal is to have healthy, beautiful babies that consistently mature at lbs. If you see a puppy that tugs on your heartstrings please call, or go to our deposit page for more information. In the last few years it has become clear that most people would prefer their puppy to be transported using our White Glove transport or Nanny Flight transport. Today, we have requests for our Puppies from all over the country. Because of this, the majority those requesting a Sugarplum Bulldog Puppy have also requested transport to their area of the country; those in Florida, for example, cannot easily make the drive to RI. As such, the majority of our Puppies have shifted to a transport model; this gets them closer to their new forever home. Because of this, we have come to the decision, that for the well being of our Puppies and for the benefit of our new Sugarplum Bulldog owners, we have developed a transport model for our pups using our Puppy-Mobile with direct transport to the pups new Forever Home! Our Mid-Western breeding home is co-owned by Sugarplum Bulldogs, and our partner. I realize that not having a chance to play with the Pups is disappointing to some, but please understand that our team are dedicated to the highest level of care for our little Pups. We truly feel that this new model is in the best interested of our Puppies and their new homes. Please feel free to ask me any questions….
Step 1 Develop a timeline for whelping. Dogs typically gestate for 63 days, but larger breeds such as boxers may whelp a day or two early. Step 2 Schedule your female for a pre-whelping exam at least 10 days prior to the whelping date. Your vet will examine your dog to make sure she is healthy and will tell you how many puppies to expect. Step 3 Prepare the whelping area the week before your dog is due. Select a quiet room, such as an extra bedroom or guest bathroom. The pool makes an excellent whelping box, since it allows the female to climb in and out but keeps the puppies inside. Erect a heat lamp over one side of the pool to keep the newborn litter warm when the mother gets up to eat or take a potty break. Step 4 Observe your boxer carefully for the first stage of labor. Your dog may pace, dig and circle around in the whelping box to prepare a safe nest for the impending puppies. Boxers tend to be a little nervous during labor, so clear the room of any other pets and people. Step 5 Watch your dog for signs that labor is advancing. The dog may lay down and get up repeatedly, pant, pace or lick her vulva as she starts having contractions. You may be able to see her abdomen tighten and relax in increasingly frequent waves as the contractions increase. Step 6 Stand clear of the whelping box as your boxer starts to deliver. The first puppy will appear with the thin placental membrane still covering its body. The female should break the sac and lick the puppy clean to stimulate breathing. Tear it gently with clean hands and rub the puppy with a dry towel. Step 7 Wait for your boxer to bite the umbilical cord before moving the puppy under the heat lamp. Snip the cord with a pair of sharp scissors and dab a little iodine over the cord to prevent infection. Step 8 Monitor the remainder of the birthing process. The female may rest slightly between puppies but should not take more than 60 minutes to deliver the next puppy. Boxers have very angular pelvises, and puppies may get stuck in the birth canal. If your dog appears to be straining with no evidence of another puppy coming, or in any distress, call your veterinarian immediately. More Articles. Boxer Pregnancy Signs of Pregnancy Whether you are purposely and carefully breeding your female Boxer or you think your Boxer may be pregnant due to an unplanned tie, it is important to notice the subtle signs as soon as possible. It will only take 9 weeks 63 days, on average for your Boxer to go from conceiving to having her puppies; it is vital to give her special care as soon as you know she is expecting. The signs of Boxer pregnancy are not glaringly obvious immediately. However, you'll know, just by the physical changes, within the first two to three weeks. You'll take a step back and wonder, "Does her stomach look a bit rounded out? She may begin to show dominance around the home; to other pets and even try to show this to her owners She may be moody; wanting to be left alone and rest as opposed to her normal wanting to play, etc. Possible decreased appetite at first, then a heartier appetite by week 3. Confirming if a Boxer Dog is Pregnant Typically, there are no outward signs during the first two weeks. A female may start to show signs by week 3. And it will not be until week 3 that a pregnancy can be confirmed by the veterinarian. There are several different types of tests that can be done. Blood test: This is the test that will let you know as early as possible; it is accurate starting on day .Ultrasound: This is accurate starting on day 28 and is not usually performed if a blood test was conclusive unless the veterinarian suspects possible issues. Palpation: This refers to a vet manually feeling the abdomen. An experienced vet should be able to tell by day .X-rays: These will not be conclusive until day 42, because until this time bones of the fetuses have not calcified enough. These are often taken a week or so before the expected due date to confirm how many puppies to expect. Special Care During the Pregnancy From the time that you learn your Boxer is pregnant to several weeks after the birthing of the pups, your dog will need special care. Her increased appetite after week 3 will be the most obvious sign and the one that you will need to tend to. A Boxer in this state will normally eat about 3 times the amount she normally does. Although she will be eating more in the last 3 weeks, be sure to spread out meals 3 to 5 times per day so that bloat does not occur. Do not give her additional calcium. This has been linked to eclampsia a sometimes fatal drop in blood calcium levels that occurs in nursing dams , difficult deliveries, soft tissue calcium deposits in the puppies, and certain joint abnormalities in the pups. Too much of these can cause birth defects in the puppies. Look for any discharge and report even a small amount to the vet. It can be a sign of a very serious infection including pyometra, which an be deadly if not treated. Do not be surprised if your Boxer's stomach does not appear to be too big. A large Boxer carrying a small litter will not have that much of a drooping stomach. Keep her exercising with daily walks; it is important to keep her in good shape. This can be curtailed for the last week, as she should be inside and resting. Knowing it is Time Your Boxer's veterinarian can tell you exactly how far along your dog is via an ultra sound or x-ray. Knowing that the day is approaching, beginning on day 55 you can take your dog's temperature. This is done rectally. A dog's normal temperature is .When her temperature goes down to 98 F .Setting up a Whelping Box A whelping box is the area that you will prepare for your dog to give birth. It must be a confined area that: Is placed in a quiet area; once she gives birth, she will nest here to nurse her puppies. Has at least 15 layers of sheets on the floor of the box. As she goes through the delivery process, you can roll up and put each layer into a large, strong trash bag. This will create new, fresh sheets throughout the delivery. Crumbled up or shredded newspaper can be placed on top of the sheets and in between the layers. You may also put some blankets. Expect this to be a very messy area. Keep the room warm. Additional heat must be supplied to keep the newborn puppies warm. Many owners use heating pads, placed under a blanket. The optimal temperature is 85 F .Tips for Whelping What you should do when your dog gives birth? While this is a natural process of life, an owner should never make an attempt to go this alone. You must prepare yourself: Trim your nails very short, file them so that they are smooth Take all rings off of your fingers Put on clothes that you have no problem with throwing away afterwards Your Boxer will not want to eat right before she is ready. Do not try to force feed her. Keep all other pets, especially a male dog, out of the room. Allow her to lay down in the whelping box. Contractions will begin. Do not panic if your Boxer cries while giving birth; this is natural although a bit heartbreaking. Keep in mind that it is temporary. Do not attempt to give her any medication. As each puppy begins to crown, be ready in case you need to help pull them out. If you do, your grasp but be firm yet gentle. If a part of the puppy is showing, hold on to it so that it is not pulled back in. Allow nature to work, but if a pup is truly stuck you will then need to step in and help. Each of the Boxer puppies will have a thin sac surrounding them and will be attached by the umbilical cord. Normally, the dam will tear away the sac, bite the cord and lick the puppy. If she does not do this, it is time to step in. Carefully remove the sac, using sterilized thread cut the cord by tying the thread around it and pulling on each end. Rub the puppy to stimulate blood flow and breathing. If the puppy has difficulty making it to the dam, help him or her reach her to suckle. Your Boxer's veterinarian should have been able to tell you how many puppies were due. However, to make sure, after what you believe is the last puppy to come out, feel your Boxer's stomach. You should be able to feel if there is another pup inside. Once the last puppy has been born, remove the mess. Take away the sheets until you have a clean area. Lay down more blankets. Allow both dam and puppies to be left alone. Do not try to cuddle a newborn puppy. His or her place must be with the dam. The dam will be producing colostrum during the first few days. This is a highly nutritional fluid that supplies the puppies with antibodies to fight against infection and disease. Keep an eye out for any puppy who does not seem to be getting this nutrition. Your Boxer may not want to eat right after giving birth. Allow her a day or 2 to get back into an eating schedule. She should have a rather big appetite during the time that the pups are suckling. When to Call the Vet - Emergency Situations While we all hope that the birth of puppies happens without complications, one must be prepared in the case of emergency. Your Boxer's veterinarian should be called when your dog is about to deliver. It is so much better to be safe than sorry. Black Boxers - There are certainly Boxer dogs that appear to be black. However, bloodlines suggest that this color cannot exist in the breed. Photos and information. Boxers have large heads, even before birth. In addition, some bitches give birth early. Recognizing the signs of impending birth are key to a healthy birth for the bitch and the pups. Take your dog to the veterinarian. Your vet is your best ally in a healthy birth. You should take the dog after mating to ensure that it is pregnant. Around 40 or 50 days after mating, your vet should order an x-ray of the developing pups. The vet will help you count the number of heads so that you know how many pups are in the litter. As the puppy develops, it lays calcium in the bones. The more calcium in each bone, the clearer it shows up in the x-ray. According to Phi Vestavia, a U. If enough calcium is present in the legs to see the tibia, then the puppies may be born in 48 hours. These times are not hard and fast rules. The health of the bitch and puppies can alter the time frame. Measure the dogs food after eating. According to Belire Boxers, a U. Prior to going into labor, the boxer will become restless. It may go to the prepared whelping box, tear the paper or bedding material, and form a nest for the birth. The dog may shiver or pant as its body prepares for labor Tips Look at the x-ray with your vet. It is very difficult to determine individual bones when the dog is pregnant with several puppies. The vet will also look for any stillborn or stunted pups that may pose a birth risk for the mother or puppies. Warnings Call the vet if the dog seems to be in distress, goes through all the signs of labor with no result or you have any questions. Tips Look at the x-ray with your vet. Items You Will Need.

If you are looking to add a happy, healthy, well-loved, and well-cared-for lab puppy to your family, you have come to the right place! We operate quite a bit differently than the majority of other breeders. We hold a VERY high standard here in regards to health, conformation and temperament. We always have a goal in mind when we perform a breeding. Those breeders are not breeding to better the Labrador breed or produce quality, well-bred lab puppies, they are simply producing puppies to sell and make a profit from. We own mostly females here and we use outside males stud service to cover our females. This gives us a huge advantage when choosing the perfect male for a particular female. Each female will need something different in a mate and using one male will not be sufficient for every female if a breeder is true to themselves and is breeding for a purpose. For example, you have a chocolate female but she is lacking in something whether it be coat, bone, length of leg, too long of loin, carries her tail too high, eye color is too light, etc. She is going to need a specific male to help improve those imperfections. If you have one or even a couple of males on your property and none of them have what your female needs, you are not doing the breed any justice by mating two dogs together that do not compliment each other correctly. Breeding correctly and responsibly can be very complicated, stressful and very expensive. Another important thing to consider is health testing. Do you know the genetics of your female and your male? Is one or the other or maybe both of them carriers of a certain genetic disease? Will you be producing affected lab puppies by mating these two dogs together? Genetic testing is extremely important and necessary! We specialize in producing lab puppies from high quality show lines which are commonly known as the English Labrador Retrievers. We have also been blessed with some exceptionally well bred American Labrador Retrievers which can be referred to as field labs. All of our lab puppies for sale are loved unconditionally from the minute they are born up until the day they join their new families. Cavagroodles previously named Mini Groodles Our unique Cavagroodles are a cross between a Miniature Golden Retriever and a Moyen Poodle — so they have the calmness of the King Charles Cavalier, the playfulness of the Golden Retriever and the non shedding coat and intelligence of the Poodle. Their adult weight will range from 14 — 18 kg and adult height will be range from 35 — 55 cm at the shoulder. They are also not too large — they grow to about 35 — 55 cm high at the shoulder and weight will range from 14 kg. Medium Groodles Our Medium Groodles are not as large as Standard Groodles due to their parentage being a Moyen Poodle and a Golden Retriever — so they grow to around kg and up to around cm high at the shoulder. Standard Groodles range from kg and cm high at the shoulder. Groodles are non shedding dogs well known for their intelligence and affectionate, friendly nature. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook so you can see more photos of our dog family:. What is a Golden Cavalier? As mentioned above, they can also be called a mini or petite Cavalier. This designer breed can trace back its origins to the early s although this mix existed before the turn of the millennium through inadvertent breeding. They can be between 16 and 18 inches tall and weigh between 35 and 45 pounds. He currently weighs 28 lbs. Bad Booney is another Golden Cavalier who is set to reach an eventual weigh of 35 to 45 pounds. Hence their nickname — the mini or petite Golden Retriever. They can have a coat color that can be any variation of fawn, white or yellow. We asked Bad Booney badbooney to describe his appearance. He happens to look a bit more like a Golden Retriever compared to others that may be second-generation, which look a little more like Cavaliers. Cavaliers are usually companion dogs that love to give and receive affection from their pet parents. Here is Milo milothegoldencavalier helped shed some light on the temperament of these designer dogs. I would say the temperament of a Golden Cavalier is very similar to a Golden Retriever. They are about moderate energy level. Now with that being said Milo is going through the puppy phase still, so he does still have that puppy energy and excitement when around others. Given their roots, they are so smart, eager to please, playful, loyal, lovable, and love to snuggle. Do Golden Cavaliers suffer from separation anxiety? Usually it manifests itself in the shape of persistent barking, howling or whining, destructive chewing or digging, and in some extreme cases, defecating or urinating inside the home. Cavaliers appear more inclined to suffer with separation anxiety rather than Golden Retrievers. When we leave, he may cry for a minute, but he is pretty good at self-soothing. He does like to be by my side a lot of the time, but overall does his own thing with the occasional check in. Do Golden Cavalier like to cuddle? Hence, their popularity with nobility and royals throughout the centuries. We asked Boone about whether their Golden Cavalier likes to cuddle. Boone is a professional cuddler. He loves to snuggle up to us as close as possible or snuggle with his stuffed animals in his dog bed. Are Golden Cavalier make great family pets? He jumps and barks and whines at the cat. We are training him everyday! Are Golden Cavalier easy to train? Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are usually eager to please, so they can pick up training quickly provided you start from a young age. Rufus has proven quite easy to train, according to his owners. He is easy to train. His only tough spot is impulse control. He also obsessed over cats. How much exercise do Golden Cavalier need? WagWalking suggest around 60 minutes of exercise a day for a Golden Cavalier. They enjoy a romp in the garden or yard as well as a slower paced daily walk. Rufus is described as a moderate-to-high energy dog. Lots of crazies and sleepies. Are Golden Cavalier hypoallergenic? Do Golden Cavalier shed? Do Golden Cavalier need regular grooming? We try to bathe him once a week since we live in NYC, and he picks up a lot of stuff on his walks. He sheds a bit too, so may be good to invest in a lint roller. When it comes to grooming, Milo is pretty easy and I can do majority of it at home. A lot of this breed maintenance is like any typical dog. We do the regular brushing to get rid of loose hair and make sure it is matt-free, clean his ears for wax or dirt, brush his teeth so they stay nice and pearly white and then make sure to trim his nails. Do Golden Cavaliers have any health problems? However, not all the health issues are known because some of these designer breeds are still in their relative infancy. One health problem to be aware of is hip dysplasia. This is a condition when there is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. With him being a mixed breed, you sometimes see less of the health issues that purebreds tend to show because of hybrid vigor. Are Golden Cavaliers fussy eaters? Some I heard can be, but I would say Milo is far from being a fussy eater. This boy absolutely loves to eat. He gets so excited when I give him his dog food, I also started to make homemade dog treats and they have been a fan favorite. He will eat anything from the grass on the ground to the dog food he is suppose to eat to any human food that crosses his path! This was the case with Milo. I was fortunate enough and rescued Milo, so my cost was free besides some extra vaccines I had to get him. Are Golden Cavaliers expensive? Do Golden Cavalier make great first-time pets for new owners? I believe Golden Cavaliers make excellent first-time pets for new owners. They are incredibly intelligent dogs and highly trainable. We have had Boone for 3 weeks now, and he was nearly potty trained with the assistance of Fresh Patch in 3 days, and he already knows all of the basic commands sit, stay, down, paw, etc. Given their intelligence and friendly demeanor, I do think they make incredible first-time pets. Plus, they are headturners on walks, so you will meet new pup friends and parents very easily. Lifespan Sociability The Golden Cavalier is a relatively new, specialty breed. Because of their rarity, they tend to be expensive. Golden Cavaliers tend to be affectionate and friendly dogs. This crossbreed is a great choice for moderately active families or people who have enough space for this dog to run around in. They are energetic and playful, so exercise and mental stimulation should be at the top of your list. Early socialization and training are essential for this pup to get along with other pets. They love being around their human companions and will create strong bonds with their families. The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel was a favorite of royalty. Other, less common names include the Yellow Retriever and the Russian Retriever. The Golden Retriever has a complex origin. Although it has been suggested that this retriever evolved from Russian circus dogs, it is more likely that it was bred from crossings that started with a yellow Flat-coated Retriever and a Tweed Water Spaniel, with Irish Setter, Labrador, and Bloodhound. Owners who want to understand the potential personality traits will need to study the parent breeds for insight. Both the Golden Retriever and the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel have been bred as companion dogs for hundreds of years. Though quite different in size, each breed is well known as affectionate people pleasers. Are Golden Cavaliers Good for Families? They need lots of attention from their human companions and have moderate to low exercise requirements. The adaptable, easy-to-train nature and sweet disposition of the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has gained the favor of many royals over the centuries. For over a century, they were the favorite breed of the English monarchy. And as you can imagine, they are a dog that loves to be pampered. Golden Retrievers were bred specifically to excel at assisting their humans in the hunting field, but then be gentle and loyal in the home. While they can be somewhat goofy and sweetly dopey at times, they are actually very intelligent dogs. In fact, Golden Retrievers are the number one breed choice for service dogs to assist the blind, deaf, and disabled. This is a dog that loves to learn how to help its friends and family. Early socialization should lead to a peaceful and harmonious home life with all pets. However, as with any dog that has some hunting instinct in their breeding, you should always supervise interactions with small animals, especially prey animals. Even a gentle dog might enjoy chasing a rabbit once in a while! Things to Know When Owning a Golden Cavalier The decision to add a dog to the family should be well-considered and well-informed. Here are a few things you should know about the Golden Cavalier before you bring a new canine friend home. Golden Cavaliers will do well with plenty of protein and fatty acids like omega-3s. But all dogs are omnivores and need a range of carbohydrates, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, too. While it can be tempting to go for the cheapest kibble, we recommend searching out a high-quality brand—one that contains a range of nutrients and is not just proteins and grains. You can even supplement the standard meals with some fruits and vegetables. Check in with your vet about safe foods and portion sizes. They do best in a rural or suburban home with ample outdoor access. And though Golden Cavaliers are adaptable and medium in size and energy, we do not recommend that they be kept in an apartment unless they have multiple opportunities per day to exercise in a yard or park. They respond well to positive reinforcement and are often very food motivated. The Golden Cavalier does have some hunting instincts from the Spaniel side, so a strong recall should be trained early on. With their eager and obedient nature, they often take well to training on agility courses. Due to their easygoing and gentle nature, the Golden Cavalier makes a spectacularly terrible guard dog. Both the King Charles Spaniel and the Golden Retriever have been specifically bred for their genial personalities, and like its parent breeds, this hybrid is friendly with just about everyone it meets. Daily brushing is recommended to remove dead hair and prevent mats from forming, particularly in the feathered hair around their feet and ears. The Golden Cavalier should have its nails clipped frequently if they do not have ample opportunity to wear them down naturally. Check at least once or twice a month to prevent cracking and foot problems. Interested in adopting? Send an email to andrew goldencavaliers. Click to see more Golden Cavaliers, a Specialty Crossbreed by our family is a labor of love. As a family man, I wanted to leave a legacy, and what better way to do so than by bringing other families together over a beautiful golden cavalier puppy. It was our daughter Rachel who sparked the idea of a specialty crossbreed. She has a brain injury and gets seizures, and when we first started raising Golden Retrievers, she found a purpose in taking care of the mothers and their puppies. But she needed a bit more easy-going dog. While their temperament was perfect for her — sweet and playful — we thought a smaller dog might be more manageable for her. The King Charles Cavalier Spaniel also has a great temperament, is smaller, and has a gentler energy level and was such a great fit for our family. And so, our Golden Cavaliers business was born. They often prefer people companions to other dogs, and are perfect for an adult or child looking for a best friend. A Goldendoodle is the offspring of a purebred Golden Retriever and a purebred Poodle. Poodles and Golden Retrievers are both known for being intelligent and easy to train. Goldendoodles are classified into types based on their parentage. F1 Goldendoodles are a cross between a Poodle and a Golden Retriever. F1b Goldendoodles are the offspring of a poodle and an F1 Goldendoodle. They normally shed less than F1 Goldendoodles, and are recommended for people with moderate to severe allergies. Goldendoodles, being a hybrid cross, have higher life expectancies and better health than either Poodles or Golden Retrievers. We have also started breeding Bernadoodles as well! A Bernadoodle is a cross between a Bernese Mountain Dog and a poodle. Our Bernadoodle puppies come from Bella, an F1 Bernadoodle, bred to a poodle. Berners get along with the entire family and are particularly gentle with children, but they will often become more attached to one lucky human. Check out our The Mamas and the Papas page for more information on Bella! Check out our Instagram and Facebook for more pictures and updates! Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. So if you live near Knoxville Tennessee and are looking for a healthy and beautiful Mini Goldendoodle puppy then checkout our available pups now by Clicking Here. Below are some Mini Goldendoodle Pups that have been adopted! Due to the variation in traits inherited from its parents, the Goldendoodle can have different sizes and colors. The golden doodle is generally a loving and cuddly dog. They are very calm and loves to be around its owner, for the most part, does very well when shown affection by others. However, golden doodles are crossbreeds and so comes the varying traits of its parents. The golden doodle is quite the adventurous dog so it loves to move around and roam freely. A nice yard would suit the Goldendoodle where it can satisfy its exploratory tendencies. Due to its wandering nature, a fence would be ideal to give some boundaries. One of the main reasons for crossbreeding the golden retriever and the poodle was to get a breed with reduced shedding. However, the Goldendoodle should be brushed once a week and should be bathed only when it is physically obvious it needs one. This also includes when it starts smelling unpleasant. The nails are naturally trim when Goldendoodles exercise and move about. Their faces and ears should be wiped so as to avoid infection. Our Goldendoodle puppies for sale come from either USDA licensed commercial breeders or hobby breeders with no more than 5 breeding mothers. How long has the Labradoodle been known as a breed? Labradoodles have been intentionally bred in Australia since .Wally Conran, a breeder of guide dogs, was the first breeder, using a standard poodle and Labrador retriever. The main goal was to create a dog that had the laid back nature of the Labrador coupled with the intelligence and allergy friendly coat of the Poodle. As the breed gained popularity, many kennels have bred and cross-bred the Labradoodle. What is an Australian Labradoodle? Over time infusions of some other breeds were added to target smaller sizes and more consistent, lower maintenance coats. The breed then became known as the Australian Labradoodle. Over the years the Labrador and poodle have kept a high degree of function ie agility and freedom of movement within their breeding. Both breeds were originally bred to be gun dogs, were excellent at retrieving waterfowl and due to their intelligence and trainability they are still used for hunting to this day. Labradors have a strong and muscular body, are athletic and playful and well known for their easy going gentle nature, placid and are great around children. However, they do love their food and are at the larger end of the scale, so harder to fit in the car. Poodles are long lived, have good genetic strengths and a well-proportioned muscular frame, which is helpful in preventing joint problems. They love to be close to their human as they can be less self-sufficient than the Labrador. They can also be a little bouncy and excitable. Both breeds are popular as working and family dogs as well as therapy and service dogs. Bred together, the hugely popular Labradoodle, which seems to moderate the extremes of both breeds, is intelligent, easy going and an affectionate companion with a low to non-shedding coat. Proudly created with Wix. Also called Miniature Labrapoos, Labradoodles, and Labradorpoos, the Miniature Labradoodle is a well-known hybrid breed in a smaller package. They are sweet-natured and smart, and they love to spend time with their people. They are affectionate with their family. They are also tolerant and compassionate, and they tend to be well-behaved around people of all ages and other pets. Labradoodles are generally healthy and should live to be 10 to 14 years old. These qualities make Miniature Labradoodles an ideal family dog that does well with other pets and children. Even the most inexperienced dog parents find this breed to be easy to train and eager to please. They are too gentle and sweet to make a good guard dog, but they can be useful watchdogs. They are small and fluffy, square and athletic. Long, furry ears are set on the top and back of their heads. Their muzzles can be medium to long. The Miniature Labradoodle coat varies a great deal, ranging from straight to loose curls, and usually kept about 4 to 6 inches in length. The coat may be one of three textures. They could have hair similar to fur in shedding dogs, they could have a more dense and non-shedding wool, or they could have more of a silky fleece. They come in a variety of colors: Gold. Use tab to navigate through the menu items. The Labradoodle is a fantastic home dog. They have a super affectionate personality and love to be in the center of the action. They are incredibly smart and enjoy playing but are often not pushy. Their keenness and intuition allows them to judge when it is play time and when it cuddle time. It is important that these dogs are introduced to the world, other people, and canines early on. We choose to socialize our puppies by playing with them throughout the day, going to a Assisted Living facility, and occasionally to daycares and schools. Mini Labradoodles are generally a great choice for a first-time dog owner, a family, a service dog, a school program dog, or a guide dog. At Puppies Up North, we began holding, loving, cuddling, and socializing our puppies from day one. Training a Labradoodle is an easier task than most dogs. Their eager-to-please personalities and intelligence make them both attentive and happy in learning. Their overt friendliness, intuition, and slight sensitivity mean they respond best to positive reinforcement. This means teaching tricks and games. Crate training is exceptionally successful with this breed. Labradoodles are exceptional with all families, young and old. They have a fun-loving personality, eager-to-please attitude, with the adaptability to match your lifestyle, makes them the perfect family companion. The Labradoodle is bred by crossing a Poodle with a Labrador Retriever , while the Miniature Labradoodle is created by crossbreeding a Miniature Poodle with a Labrador. Still intelligent, affectionate and great family dogs, you get all the same qualities of the loving Labradoodle in a much smaller form! History Of The Mini Labradoodle The Labradoodle is known for being an excellent service dog, often being used as a therapy dog or service dog due to their sweet and affectionate nature. The Mini Labradoodle, also known as the Toy Labradoodle, was originally bred to be the companion counterpart to the Standard Labradoodle — a smaller version that people could live happily alongside. They were also bred because of their hypoallergenic coat that they could inherit from their Poodle parent, although this is also one of the reasons the Standard Labradoodle was bred! We will go into more detail about their hypoallergenic coat later on. There are different generations of these designer dogs. A F1 hybrid is a Miniature Poodle crossed with a Labrador. A F2 cross is breeding one Mini Labradoodle with another. A F2 Mini Labradoodle is likely to be far more expensive that a F1 or F1B because their temperament and characteristics are more easily predicted. However, it is registered with the Designer Breed Registry. Always find a reputable breeder when you are buying one of these pups or any dog! Breed Origin We can take a look at the parent breeds origins first to understand the beginnings of the Labradoodle. The Poodle originated from the French and German border in the 15th and 16th century and was associated with the upper class. Because they are excellent water dogs, they were used to hunt water-fowl. Later on, because of their adorable look, these pups became a very popular dog. The Toy Poodle was bred from the Standard Poodle by choosing the smallest pup from each litter and breeding with them. They were first seen in America in the 20th century. The Labrador is the most popular breed of dog in America. Labradors were originally bred as gun dogs in the s and used to accompany hunters and retrieve animals that had been shot. They were also used in Newfoundland to retrieve fish that came in off the trawl, which is why they love the water. Their loyal and loving nature mean that they quickly became a very popular family dog and are still used today as working dogs, such as guide dogs. The Labradoodle was first bred by Wally Conron in and they have been growing in popularity ever since. The Standard Labradoodle was first bred in Australia with the purpose of being a hypoallergenic guide dog in the s. Not long after, the Miniature Labradoodle was in demand as people wanted a smaller version of this low shedding and friendly pet. At some point between and , Dr Kate Schoeffel first bred the Mini variation of the standard size Labradoodle. Characteristics Of The Mini Labradoodle Because the Mini labradoodle is a crossbreed, it can be difficult to determine the exact characteristics that they are going to inherit from each parent. One litter may take more traits from the Poodle parent, while another litter may take more traits from the Labrador parent. We can, however, say that the characteristics of the Mini Labradoodle are the same as the Standard Labradoodle — they really are the same dog, just in a smaller size! A F2 Mini Labradoodle has a more predictable temperament and appearance. However, based on past Mini Labradoodle litters, we can predict some of the traits of these pups no matter the generation. Appearance The Toy Labradoodle looks almost identical to their Standard cousins, except they are much smaller. These little pups normally stand between 14 to 16 inches tall and usually weigh under 45 lbs, with the average weight being anywhere between 15 to 25 lbs. Much like the Standard Labradoodle, the Mini looks a bit like a teddy bear! Coat These dogs can inherit different coat types from their parents. Some Mini Labradoodles may inherit a long, curly and thick coat from their Poodle parent, or they inherit a short, straight and dense coat from their Labrador parent. This is very difficult to predict and sometimes the coat will even be a perfect hybrid of both parents! However, as the Labradoodle became more popular, careful breeding went out the window. That being said, if your pup inherits their coat from their Poodle parent, it is likely they will be hypoallergenic and great for those with allergies. Normally, the Labradoodle will have a solid colored coat, but this is not always true. The most common coat colors for this breed are black, brown, chocolate, apricot, cream, golden, silver and white. Temperament The Labradoodle is a smart, loving and playful dog that inherits desirable traits from both parent breeds. Bred to be companion dogs, these pups certainly live up to it and love to be around people. They love to please their owners too, which makes them easy to train and fun to learn tricks with! Their intelligence means that they make excellent service dogs, especially guide dogs and therapy dogs, and they are highly intuitive, too. Their friendly nature means they will want to spend time with you and they are extremely sociable. They will love a trip to the store or a walk in the park where they can socialize with other people and dogs. A great family pet, the Labradoodle gets on with everyone and just wants to love you! Their playful and active nature means they love to spend time outside too, having fun and burning off energy. If you need a dog to brighten up your day, the Labradoodle might be for you. Lifespan Mixed breed dogs normally have a longer life expectancy that purebred breeds. You can expect your Miniature Labradoodle to fall into this range. Known Health Issues Unfortunately, the Mini Labradoodle is susceptible to some health problems that their parent breeds are prone to. We have laid out the most common health concerns seen in the Labradoodle below. Progressive Retinal Atrophy PRA — this is an eye disorder that eventually causes blindness from the loss of photoreceptors at the back of the eye. Some dogs show pain and lameness on one or both rear legs, but you may not notice any signs of discomfort in a dog with hip dysplasia. The symptoms of it include excessive drinking and urinating, as well as increased heart rate and panting. Bloat — this affects both parent breeds and is potentially fatal. You need to know the symptoms of it. Feeding your dog smaller more frequent meals instead of one big meal can help to reduce the risk. Regular vet checkups and keeping an eye on your dog will ensure you can catch any of these issues before they become untreatable. Remember — buy from a reputable breeder and the chances your dog will suffer any health conditions will be greatly reduced. Trusted breeders will do health checks on both parent breeds and will not crossbreed if there is a chance of passing on any issues to offspring. Daily Life Now we know the characteristics and traits of a Mini Labradoodle, it is time to take a look at what looking after and living with one of these pets is like. Read on below to find out about their food and diet, their exercise needs and their grooming needs. You should always check the back of the dog food packet to see how much of a particular food you should feeding them based on their weight. The food you feed your Labradoodle should be high-quality and nutritious. Try to find a food that is formulated specifically for their size. Try to space their meals over at least two meals a day. This will also help with the bloat that this breed is more prone to and can be a life threatening issue. F1 Labradoodle puppies. Today we share a complete introduction to the F1 Labradoodle. This Labradoodle puppy is playing in a way that only a puppy can. What does f1 Labradoodle mean? Labradoodles are a cultural phenomenon. The first intentional Lab and Poodle mix dogs were bred in the s as low shedding candidates for service work. At that time, mixed breed dogs were regarded with disdain by many people. And the rest, as they say, is history. Now almost everyone is familiar with what a Labradoodle is, and they have paved the way for dozens of other designer dogs too. But fewer people are acquainted with the filial numbering system for mixed breed dogs. Put simply, an f1 generation Labradoodle has one pedigree Labrador parent, and one pedigree Poodle parent. The number 1 describes how many generations removed a puppy is from their closest purebred ancestor. F1 Labradoodles are one generation apart from a purebred dog. F1 vs F2 Labradoodle Puppies? Breeders usually specify that their litter is an f1 generation in order to distinguish it from different filial generations. F2 Labradoodles have two F1 Labradoodle parents. Their most recent pedigree ancestors are now their grandparents — two generations away. The physical and behavioral traits of f2 dogs are harder to predict. This is because in the confines of a pedigree population, we usually have a good idea of what genes Labs and Poodles may be carrying but not expressing, and how those genes might affect F1 Labradoodles. But the unexpressed genes in an F1 Labradoodle are an unknown quantity. Did they come from the Lab or the Poodle parent? Will they be expressed in the F2 generation? Who knows? And finally, multigen Labradoodles are several generations removed from their most recent pedigree ancestor on one or both sides. What is a standard f1 Labradoodle? This describes the size of their Poodle parent. Poodles come in three sizes: Standard, Miniature and Toy. What does an F1 Labradoodle look like? Their coat is usually kept at a single length all over, known as a puppy clip. Furthermore, lots of owners report f1 Labradoodle coat changes as their puppy grows up. Firstly, the length, softness, and texture can change when their adult coat replaces their puppy coat. This process starts at about 6 months old, and can take several weeks or even months. Secondly, their color can change over time if they inherit the progressive greying gene from their Poodle parent. Labrador Poodle mix dogs can have a tall and leggy silhouette like a Poodle. Or be more long and sturdy-looking like a Labrador. Labradoodle dogs have floppy, v-shaped ears because both of their parents do. But their muzzle can be wider or narrower depending on whether they take after a Labrador or a Poodle more. F1 Labradoodle Size? Th adult size of a Poodle Lab mix dog depends upon things like: whether their Poodle parent was standard or miniature sized whether their Labrador parent came from working or show lines their sex and individual variation. In both Labs and Standard Poodles, male dogs are frequently bigger than females, so the same is true of a standard f1 Labradoodle. Females typically reach between 40 and 70lbs, and males weigh 60 to 80lbs. Working type Labs are usually leaner and lighter, whilst show Labs are usually stockier and heavier — and they can pass this onto their puppies. Miniature f1 Labradoodle size is much harder to predict. Male and female Miniature Poodles both weigh 10 to 15lbs. So most mini f1 Labradoodles will weigh between 30 and 45lbs, but outliers can weigh much more or much less! Breeding f1b mini Labradoodle litters with one Miniature f1 Labradoodle parent and one Miniature Poodle parent is a popular way of producing Lab and Poodle mix dogs which are consistently small. Do f1 Labradoodles shed? This means most f1 Labradoodles shed significantly less than a purebred Lab. But, this is not guaranteed, and exactly how much less they shed does vary. Moreover, a non-shedding coat does not mean that a Labradoodle mix or even a purebred Poodle for that matter is hypoallergenic. Training and exercising f1 Labradoodles Labradors and Poodles are both lively, energetic and intelligent dogs. In fact, they both started out as working gundogs, bred to spend long and physically arduous days retrieving shot waterfowl and returning it to their handler. Since a lot of those unlucky birds fell in water, Labs and Poodles were also favored by duck hunters for their natural love of swimming. With this heritage, Labradoodles are likely to pick up new commands quickly and easily, especially if their Labrador parent came from working lines. They benefit from activities like gundog training, agility, or canine freestyle to stretch their mental muscles as well as their physical ones. Speaking of physical muscle, Labradoodle dogs need at least 2 hours of outdoor activity every day, which can including walking on or off leash, or swimming. F1 Labradoodle health Just like everything else, first generation Labradoodle health is a mixed inheritance from both of their parents. Labradors and Poodles share a genetic predisposition to some health problems, such as hip dysplasia and elbow dysplasia. But they also both carry some recessive genetic conditions that the other does not. This is significant to Labradoodles because recessive diseases only affect puppies who inherit the faulty genes that cause them from both parents. So mixed breed dogs tend to be protected, if only one parent breed carries the faulty gene. Examples of recessive genetic diseases in Labs and Poodles that f1 Labradoodles are usually protected from include exercise induced collapse, and sebaceous adenitis. F1 Labradoodles are also susceptible to the acquired i. You can protect your dog from these by making smart lifestyle choices, such as measuring food out accurately, and drying their ears after they go swimming. Labradors and Standard Poodles typically live for approximately 12 years, so a standard F1 Labradoodle will be about the same. On average, mixed breed dogs live for 2 years longer than pedigree dogs, thanks to factors like the protection from some hereditary diseases described above. Miniature Poodles live nearly 14 years on average. This extra life expectancy might also be seen in mini f1 and mini f1b Labradoodle dogs. Are f1 Labradoodles good pets? Labradoodles have taken the world by storm, because they have the potential to be fantastic pets in the right households. Labs and Poodles are both affectionate with their human family, and patient with younger family members. However, the Poodle tends to be less interested in unfamiliar people and dogs than the Labrador, and an f1 Labradoodle could go one way or the other. Good breeders will have lots of questions about you, your household, your lifestyle, and what you expect life with a Labradoodle to be like. Finally, good breeders also have a waiting list, so expect to wait a while for your puppy to be ready. Life Span Did You Know? Second-generation crosses could include a Labradoodle and a Mini Poodle or two Mini Labradoodles as parents. This hybrid dog breed was originally developed to create smaller potential service dogs that might be a good fit for people with allergies to dog fur. With a mixed breed, you can end up with any combination of traits from the parent breeds. Often, Mini Labradoodles are smart, friendly, and sociable dogs that are highly trainable. They are often found working as service dogs and therapy dogs and living as beloved family companions. Although they are not recognized by the AKC, the Mini Labradoodle is recognized by other canine registries. A Mini Labradoodle is a combination of two friendly dog breeds that crave human affection and are always happy to have company. These dogs also tend to have playful, energetic personalities and low prey drives. Well-socialized Mini Labradoodles tend to get along well with children, other dogs, and other pets. Due to their smaller size, these dogs can be injured by accidental rough play or accidental falls, so any interactions between young kids and puppies should be closely supervised. Miniature Labradoodles will usually bark to alert you when someone is at the door, but generally are not prone to nuisance barking unless they have been trained into it. It may not be a bad idea to train your dog to stop barking early on. Well-socialized Mini Labradoodles may be initially wary of strangers, but tend to warm up quickly and will often be happy to make a new friend. Miniature Labradoodles are highly adaptable. Provided they get enough exercise, attention, and mental stimulation, they can adapt well to apartments as well as larger homes. They tend to do best in moderate climates, but can tolerate warmer or colder climates. As with any dog, they are sensitive to heat. Although they tend to have a fluffier coat, they are also smaller and may need to bundle up in some winter dog products to stay warm while out on walks in the cold. Mini Labradoodles are also very much companion breeds. They bond closely with their families and thrive on being near them, so they do not like to be left alone for long periods of time. The health of the parents and good breeding practices make a big difference in the health of Mini Labradoodle puppies. Reputable breeders will screen their dogs to avoid passing preventable issues to puppies. Make sure you are asking the breeder about the health and genetic history of both parents. You can also ask about any health tests or clearances that have been done to help allay any concerns you may have. Miniature Labradoodles tend to be highly intelligent and eager to please. This generally makes them easy to train and a good fit for owners of all experience levels. In fact, their parent breeds are considered some of the best dog breeds for first-time owners. These dogs respond best to consistent training and positive reinforcement. Puppy training classes can ensure that owners of any experience level learn the latest training techniques and start building a strong bond with their puppy. Grooming requirements with a Mini Labradoodle can vary. On the Poodle side, you have a low-shedding, but high-maintenance, coat that needs daily brushing along with trimming and grooming every weeks. On the Lab side, you have a higher shedding coat that is more low-maintenance, requiring some weekly brushing or brushing a few times a week and intermittent bathing. Overall, Mini Labradoodles range from having a non- to low-shedding coat. They can have one coat type or the other, or a combination of both of them. So, you will want to be prepared for brushing a coat a few times a week and the possibility of more grooming needs. Regardless of coat type, there are some other general grooming tasks you can count on. Regular dental care for your dog will help prevent serious dental issues like gum disease and tooth decay later in life. This is especially important for dog breeds with floppy ears as they are more prone to developing ear infections. Miniature Labradoodles can be high-energy dogs. In general, they require daily walks plus some playtime and extra activity to be happy and healthy. Since they love to be around their family and can have an exuberant and outgoing personality, they will likely be up for more playtime if you are. This little dog may get tired more easily at times and could push themselves too far in their excitement. On the other hand, they may just keep going and going with no signs of slowing down. What is most important is making sure your Miniature Labradoodle gets enough exercise and mental stimulation. Fully-grown Mini Labradoodles usually stand inches tall and weigh pounds. Miniature Labradoodles generally live for years on average. Featured Mini Labradoodle Article.

What a great day! He came to us with a birth defect. When he was born part of his right front leg was non-functional. Shortly after birth, he lost that part and ended up with a non-functioning partial limb that limited his activities. After discussing the options for this fearless pup with our veterinarian and orthopedic surgeon, we decided it was best to amputate the limb. He now gets around just like any other puppy, zoomies and all. He is now in his loving home of a previous adopter and is the sweetest, happiest Golden ever! We thank Michelle and her family for giving him a forever home. Welcome home, Cooper! His eyes were so bad he was virtually blind and had lumps all over his body. Twelve weeks of strong antibiotics and steroids made him better. A few months later he was diagnosed with Grade 4 "Luxating Patella" his knee cap attached to the side of his leg in both his back legs. Due to his agehe was not able to have surgery until his bones matured and this made him quite crippled. On July 2, he was able to have his first surgery. The vet said it was much worse than expected. A lot of taking out bone, cutting bone, making a new groove and pinning. Also, muscle and tendons had to be cut and re-attached. He was in pain and needed rehab times a day but he was a strong, happy boy. He will never be totally normal but he should not be crippled. He had weeks of rehab and then got to do it all over again with his other leg. All in all, he was in therapy and rehab for almost 5 months. Cody will be at GoldenStock. Please come out and see him The Amazing 16 In December of I got a call about 16, 4 month old golden puppies needing help. She was feeding them oatmeal because it was cheap and filling. We drove to Miles City to pick them all up in minus 10 degree temps. Eventually they were all placed in loving homes. One girl, we almost missed as she was hiding under a chair, had hair full of ice and was shivering cold. We put a red ribbon around her and named her Fenway.
