His coloring is very similar to this treat, so that was that! Other names we call him: Boopy Buppy, Floof floof, and whatever else comes to mind at the time. Bill toy which scared him at first but now he loves it This kong toy that we put kibble and treats in These kong balls that squeak! The crate comes with a divider so we put that in the middle. Treats: We bought 3 different kinds of treats. He goes absolutely bananas over these Blue Buffalo treats! We try to mix up his treats so he gets surprised each time he gets one. I stuffed the puppy under my shirt for a day to make it smell like me, and then put it in his crate at night. This is one of the hardest, yet most rewarding experiences of my life! He is a total handful—he never sleeps when we actually want him to and gets the zoomies at 11pm every night sorry neighbors! Crate training is really difficult and he is smart and stubborn. We put 4 of them out together so he almost never misses the pad. He actually took to the pads quite nicely, and has had very few accidents in the house! Super important for a city pup! Australian Labradoodle Temperament Australian Labradoodles are gentle, loyal, and sociable. They are not aggressive and are very good with children. Plus, they are intelligent and quick to learn. In fact, they are widely used as therapy and service dogs. Naturally playful, they enjoy time with their human families. But they should not be left alone or in crates for too long. Also, Australian Labradoodles are active dogs. They need a large amount of daily activity. At least minutes is ideal. And as a result, relatively easy to train. And puppies that are socialized early are less likely to display behavioral problems later on. Research shows that positive, rewards-based training is more effective than punishment-based training. In fact, punishments negatively affect behavior. This will help prevent weight problems. Some evidence suggests mixed-breed dogs experience fewer inherited disorders than their purebred counterparts. The limited gene pools of purebreds can cause a number of health-related issues. This is due to years of inbreeding. They may still inherit certain health conditions from either parent. An Australian Labradoodle is a great fit if you have children or other pets. They tend to be calmer than the standard Labradoodle. Early socialization and consistent rewards-based training will help your Australian Labradoodle become a great people-pleaser. But, if you work away from home for long hours, this pup may not be the best choice. But what difference does this make? What is the real difference? Do Australian Labradoodles look or behave differently to other Labradoodles? In short — yes they do. There are a multitude of differences in fact, and having bred both here at Lomond Hills in the past, we have a great deal of experience in this area. Early Generation Labradoodles Consistency Early Generation Labradoodles are, as the term implies, are of low generation. This means that there is very little consistency in the litters of puppies produced. If you cross a Labrador with a Poodle, the resulting puppies vary considerably in size, coat type and temperament. When you get to the second and third generations, things get even more complicated as the genetics play out and throw-backs start appearing. This means, for example, that a second or third generation Labradoodle could look like a poorly bred Labrador or a poorly bred Poodle rather than a Labradoodle. There is much, much more consistency in Australian Labradoodle litters. This is primarily because we are now so far down the generations, and as we breed further, physical characteristics and attributes become more predictable and consistent. Every puppy in an Australian Labradoodle litter will be recognisable as an Australian Labradoodle and throw-backs to parent breeds are very rare. The Coat Being only a few generations away from a Labrador, it is no surprise that the vast majority of Early Generation Labradoodles DO SHED their coats and are therefore NOT suitable for allergy sufferers, despite what you may have been led to believe from other sources! Australian Labradoodles on the other hand, are many more generations away from the shedding Labrador; their coats have been developed over the last 35 years such that they DO NOT SHED and therefore have a very high compatibility rate with allergy and asthma sufferers. Temperament Whilst there are some Early Generation Labradoodles with fantastic temperaments, they do tend toward the lively and potentially hyperactive side, particularly when compared to the calmer, better-balanced Australian Labradoodles. In fact, Australian Labradoodles are particularly intuitive, very intelligent, easily trained and are excellent with young children making them an ideal family member. However, they are still full of fun when playing outdoors and can be incredibly comical at times!
