Besides, eventually you must retrain them to going outside, so the best policy is to never start letting inside be an option. Step 2: Establish a routine and schedule for your puppy Establishing a routine is the single most important step for housebreaking. The more consistent you are, the faster your puppy will learn to go outside for potty. This time will increase rapidly over the next few weeks, but that first week is going to take a lot of time and energy on your part to consistently let your puppy out on a schedule. To make being consistent easier, consider this: Set a timer When housebreaking puppies, we find that setting a timer is helpful. An hour flies by and you hardly realize it. For the first few days at least, set a timer and let your puppy out hourly, especially if your puppy is not in a crate. We will discuss that more in a bit. Timing is everything There are other times when you need to let your puppy outside. Immediately after eating or drinking your puppy should go outside. Eating and drinking will trigger a need to go potty, so to avoid accidents, take your puppy out every time they eat or drink. And if they drink a lot of water, you may have to take them out several times before they are back on schedule. Anything you can do to make going potty a routine will help your dog learn and associate that going outside is where I need to go to go potty. Use a command I know this sounds crazy but using a command can help your dog form an association between the command and going potty. At first this is meaningless to the puppy. And you cannot discipline your puppy for a potty accident in the house that you never saw happen. The solution for this is never let your puppy go unsupervised. This can be exhausting, that is why we suggest using a crate to help. The stern words must be said during the accident or immediately after to have any effect. Using a crate to house train your puppy First, while your puppy may not love his crate right away, if properly introduced and used consistently, Labs usually come to love their crates. Garfield was shot twice with one bullet grazing his shoulder while a second entered his lower back, just missing his spine and becoming lodged just behind his Pancreas. The President survived the night and remained alert, doctors were unable to discover the location of the second bullet but hopped that the President may yet recover. Infections from the probing for the bullet and from clothes fibres dragged into the body by the tumbling. He finally succumbed to his wounds and infections, which put a massive strain on his heart causing an artery to rupture, after 80 days on the 19th September. Almost a year after he had shot the President Guiteau was hanged on the 30th June .The pistol itself was taken from Guiteau on his arrest and was later donated to the Smithsonian Institute, who photographed it. However, it was subsequently lost and the pistol's whereabouts are still unknown. There are a few. Some of those were marketed as real but usually lack British proof marks and might have differences from a real one internally depending on who really made it. ETA: If it is missing any important parts there is very little chance you'll be able to find replacements, much less ones that will fit without extensive hand fitting by a professional. Avoiding the Problem "I feel gun-shyness is man-made," Goodwin says. And it doesn't take much-even exposure to firecrackers-to cause a nervous dog to become gun-shy. I don't believe dogs are born gun-shy, but some seem to be more susceptible to it than others. Some retriever owners will take a young dog, sit it down next to them, and fire a gun over the dog's head to see what it will do. The dog decides to go in the opposite direction and head for home, and the trainer wonders what happened. And once a dog is afraid of gunfire, it is difficult to change its mind. I believe in positive reinforcement, so hearing the blank gun going off at a distance was something the dogs liked-food. It was a means of conditioning. The pups grew up listening to that. They became used to it. When the dog was 20 yards away or so and chasing a bird, I'd fire a couple of shots into the air. But to do that, a dog has to like birds first. Again, this was positive reinforcement-introducing the noise of the gun while they were doing something they enjoyed. And some simple keys. First, don't surprise a young dog by shooting a firearm over its head if it has never heard a gunshot. Second, get the dog involved in an enjoyable activity such as eating, playing, or chasing birds , step back 35 yards, and shoot low-volume rounds as opposed to 3-inch magnum shotshells to introduce gunfire. Third, go slow. Do not try to introduce a dog to the gun in a single morning by burning up a couple of boxes of ammo; start with low-volume loads and work your way up over time. So what's a trainer to do if his dog shows signs that it might be gun-shy? Some dogs never get over it. As I said, it's a lot easier to avoid than correct.
