Not all mini Goldendoodles are equal, there are a few different versions to choose from each having a little different genetic background based on the pups parents. We will explain all the differences in Mini Goldendoodle puppies and how they are bred below. We raise all versions of the mini goldendoodle breed. F1 Mini Goldendoodle Pups. A F1 puppy is also known as a First Generation puppy. The puppies mother is a Golden Retriever and the pups dad is a Mini Poodle. This version of mini goldendoodle usually has soft wavy or curly puppy fur. They will shed until they lose their puppy fur, after shedding they will shed a lot less, but will shed. This version is partially hypoallergenic and usually requires low maintenance. F1 mini goldendoodles usually need to be groomed every 6 months along with daily brushing to keep their curly hair from matting and getting tangled. The dogs usually grow up having great temperaments similar to golden retrievers. They usually get about inches high at the shoulder and range in weight from pounds. F1b Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1b is known as a second-generation mini goldendoodle with the pups mother being already an F1 Goldendoodle and the pups dad being a mini poodle also. So the difference between F1 and F1b is that the mom is not a golden retriever but an actual F1 Goldendoodle. They also have very soft curly hair but with almost no shedding. This F1b version is semi-hypoallergenic and a better choice for anyone who has pet allergies. The F1b also should be brushed on a daily basis but will need to be groomed more frequently then a F1. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is recommended to keep their coat in perfect condition. F1b Mini goldendoodles get around 18 to 20 inches tall at the shoulders and range between pounds in weight. F1bb Mini Goldendoodle Pups. An F1bb goldendoodle is also known as a third-generation mini goldendoodle. This mini goldendoodle version has a coat more similar to a poodle than of a golden retriever. This is because the pup is more of a poodle than a retriever. Making it the very best version for anyone with pet allergies. A 6 to 8 week grooming schedule is required to help prevent knots or matting. This version is super intelligent and loving, and usually seems to have more energy than the other versions of Mini goldendoodles. This version is usually smaller in size, weighing around pounds and only getting inches tall at the shoulders. The smaller size makes them a great size for smaller homes and apartments. Lifespan Sociability The essential thing to understand about the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is that they are not ideal pets for families with small children or novice dog owners. They are intelligent dogs that need attention. However, they need daily walks to stay fit. Establishing a trusting and loving relationship as a puppy is the best way to enjoy this working-class pooch. Life on the homestead was harsh. Stockmen needed a canine to match the tough conditions and demands of the work. They selectively bred the Southeastern Mountainous stock dog to get the right stuff for the job. The breed has grown in popularity worldwide, with pups in homes across the globe. However, all have their roots in the American South. Part of the trouble the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog was a lack of a standard and the support of enthusiasts interested in the breed. The same is true of the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog. His job as a guard dog and protector gives him an independent streak that is tempered with self-assurance. He is alert, which was necessary to chase away the stray fox or coyote stalking a herd. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a loyal and affectionate companion that will do well in the right home. While he is adaptable, he also needs a solid foundation and consistent training. Early socialization is crucial to ensure proper canine manners. Are These Dogs Good for Families? However, he is large and can easily overwhelm smaller children. His territorial nature also means that kids in the family must respect his space. On the positive side, this pup is a devoted protector of family and home. The breed is naturally wary of strangers, requiring early exposure to other people in his life. His strong prey drive and tendency to nip make this pup a challenge to own in a home with other dogs or cats. Our advice is that he should be the only pet in the household so that he can get all the attention. There are also issues with having a larger pet that exists across the board. The responsible, would-be dog owner will research these things before bringing a new puppy into their home. A post shared by Bruno bully. Ironically, they mature more slowly than smaller breeds, despite their size. This pup is a muscular, heavy-boned canine, with the appetite to match. As a puppy, you should feed him three times a day, with plenty of fresh water available at all times. Adults will do well on two meals a day. The last thing any pet owner needs is a bored pup. Other soft treats are an excellent training aid and a way to establish trust with your dog. That is the key to a successful owner-pet relationship. However, daily walks will keep him healthy, mentally and physically. Like other working pups, he thrives when he has a job or something to occupy him. He is not a pet to leave alone in the backyard for long stretches. He needs companionship as much as distractions. He is smart, sometimes too much for his own good. You must take charge and direct the course of training early in his development. To be clear, we also give the same advice to anyone owning a larger dog. The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is relatively easy to train. He is intelligent to pick up new commands and routines quickly. The challenges you may face are his independence and stubborn streaks. We suggest using positive reinforcement instead of stern reprimands. A weekly session with a hound glove or curry brush will keep it healthy and stimulate circulation. After all, the earlier you catch it, the easier it is to manage. We recommend only buying from breeders who test their puppies. Minor Conditions. We chose to breed Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldogs because of the temperament or nature thay were known for. I say were because unfortunately most of the "Alapahas" you will find today do not maintain the nature they were known for; stable temperament, loyal companions, hard working all around farm utility dogs, fearless, and great with children. All of our dogs are raised as part of our family around our children, and worked on our farm. We strive to raise healthy, stable, and capable bulldogs true to the original old bulldogs of the south. Alapahas are highly inteligent and ready to work as a guardian of family and property or a catch dog. They are very loving companions. We love our alapahas and hope you will take a closer look at this amazing breed. Learn what makes Southern Alapaha Bulldogs different! Puppy Socialization All our pups get socialized with dogs and kids from very early on. We whelp our puppies in our living room so they get early exposure to a busy house with 5 kids. ENS has multiple proven health benefits and is used by the U. Military for their Service Dogs because it is also proven to help dogs cope with stress and stressful situations better. Luna one of our Alapaha Bulldog dams at 2 years old! Excellent roy leedeman We had an Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog named Cube that we had to lay to rest when he was just four years old because of cancer. It was a heartbreaking experience for my wife and I. When we were both ready to add another member to our family, I scoured the web looking for Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog breeders. I cannot express how truly grateful my wife and I are that we found Cy and Southern Alapaha Bulldogs. Cy answered all of our questions and by the end of our conversation we committed to getting our pup from Southern Alapaha Bulldogs and sent our deposit. Cy kept us updated throughout the whole process and also helped us secure our pups transport from Tennessee to California. I will definitely recommend Cy and Southern Alapaha Bulldogs to anyone that asks. He is now 16 weeks old and is 40 pounds of love. RIP is confident, smart, and athletic; A testament to all of the care and work that Cy puts into his dogs. Tim and Nicole Bass We are so excited about our puppy, he has an excellent temperament. We were very impressed with the ease of the whole process. Cy was so helpful and knowledgeable about the breed and always willing to answer questions. We would highly recommend this breeder. Aleyna Enriquez I love this breed, I am so happy with my puppy from Southern Alapaha bulldogs. Cy responses to any calls and messages within a timely manner. I will definitely come back for another puppy. Thank you so much Cy and family! Bernard Kurecki Cy, Just to give you a little feedback. Zeb is the most amazing dog that I have ever owned! He is incredibly intelligent and has an awesome disposition. Even Sam likes him, which is tough because he is so energetic. Keep up the good work. This is a breed worth keeping around. I have owned dogs all my life and Zeb is exceptional. I thought I would never have a dog better than Buford, but I was wrong. Thanks again. One day I would definitely consider breeding him and getting one of his offspring. Marlee can't keep up with him but they get along great. Victoria Young This is a great kennel in the country side! I have been onsite and it is always clean and well maintained. The dogs get time working livestock in addition to a full range of ages with kids and other family exposure. Highly recommend this breeder! Otto Bulldog Description The Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is a well-developed, exaggerated bulldog with a broad head and natural drop ears. This rare, bulldog-type guard dog descends form Buck Lane's dog named Otto. Lana Lou spoke of her granddaddy as always having had an "Otto" about the estate. One Otto was all one needed since these Bulldogs were capable of guard work and woods work. When PaPa Buck was killed by a train in , his Otto proved his undying devotion by constant visitation and guard duty over the grave. Buck Lane's granddaughter, Lana Lou Lane continued the breeding program until she passed away in her sleep on July 20, .Like the Plott Hound , this muscular breed is the creation of one American family, and its survival depends upon the nurturing it receives. Originating from English Bulldog stock, this dog's ancestors functioned as cattle and pig herders, but the Alapaha Blue Blood Bulldog is bred solely for security and companionship. Vivian Lane, took over her business affairs. Later, Mrs. Vivian Lane sold her daughter's kennel. I got my 7 weeks old bulldog puppy and she's absolutely precious and adorable. I make sure that I leave enough water for her during the day and I only feed her twice a day. So far, she has 5 different toys to chew on. Well, during the first couple of days after she got her new toys, it was heaven for me because she left shoes, furniture, and other stuff alone. But she grew bored of these expensive toys rather quickly. I am thinking about buying one of those eight panel bronze wire pens for her so she can only gain access of certain area of the living room. Is this a good idea? During weekend, I spend a lot of time with her and I make sure she gets at least 1 hour of outdoor exercise a day. But still, nothing is able to correct her chewing problem. What are my options? My other question is that I would like to give my dog some snack in between two meals only during the weekend while I train her. The brand of the dog food I am using is Royal Canine recommended for bulldogs only I am wondering if there are some specific brands I need to purchase for her as snack. I heard from other dog owners that fresh carrots will be good snack choice for dogs. Is it safe for a 7 weeks old little pup like her? Great puppy!!!! Love her pics. Anyway, why did you decide on this breed? I want one too! Feeding her at am and pm may be too far between. Most dogs I know of and cats eat dinner - pm. As the more experienced posters commented, it a phase. Another phase will be when she becomes a teenager. Wait and see. If you raised kids, it may be more familiar. I give a variety to my dogs: carrots, green beans, blueberries, apple, banana. .I always have boiled chicken on hand in the fridge for a special treat for them. .I will give them commercial dog treats if the ingredients are healthy. .I stuff kongs and hollow sterilized bones with peanut butter or pumpkin and freeze that for a treat, they love when I put chicken broth in ice cube trays and give them frozen broth cubes. .I also give them bully sticks now because of the recommendations on this forum for a long lasting chew that's safe for their teeth! Great post! What dogs do you have?

Degenerative Myelopathy Von Willebrand Disease Perhaps the most well-known is hip dysplasia, a condition that causes the hip joint to develop abnormally. This can lead to pain and lameness, and eventually requiring surgery. German Shepherds are also at risk for elbow dysplasia, a similar condition that affects the elbow joint. Other common health problems include allergies, intestinal issues, and eye problems. With proper care and diet, however, German Shepherds can live long and healthy lives. Finding a German Shepherd puppy for sale from a reputable breeder can dramatically — although, not eliminate — the risk of your dog developing some of these conditions. While German Shepherds are often considered to be low-maintenance when it comes to grooming, their coats do require some care and attention. The most important thing to know about German Shepherd coat care is that the breed does not shed uniformly throughout the year. After the shedding period has ended, you can reduce the frequency of brushing to once or twice a week. In addition to regular brushing, German Shepherds also need to be bathed on occasion. How often you need to bathe your German Shepherd will depend on factors such as how often they play outside and whether they have any allergies or skin sensitivities. Generally speaking, however, a once-monthly bath is sufficient for most dogs. German Shepherd Puppies For Sale. At this shelter, Rex suffered seizures, which are now well controlled with medication. Rex also suffered from irritable bowel syndrome a very messy condition , which requires prescription food and medication in order to be completely managed. The treatment and maintenance of these two chronic conditions meant Rex was unlikely to thrive in a shelter environment, but the rescue network saw that this could be a happy dog and connected him with Kingston Animal Rescue. At times, he could not move them properly, they would seize up, and he would drag his back feet until they were bloody or be almost immobile. The amazing animal loving community came together to help get Rex more care, so he went for a specialist visit to Ottawa. This meant the padding between two of his lower, spinal vertebrae was misplaced and being pinched. In early March, Rex had surgery to correct the compression. Following a successful surgery, he underwent rehabilitation to regain his strength and mobility; he was so lucky to find himself in a home dedicated to getting him back on his feet. Rex stabilized, his fosters went above and beyond to see him through each and every issue, which included a thyroid condition and aggressive arthritis. His medical regime requires attentiveness, and symptoms of different conditions will emerge from time to time, but his seizures, irritable bowel disease, pain, and thyroid condition have all found points of relative resolution. Rex medically had stabilized, so his move out to the country in the spring of was a chance for his personality to blossom. Rex has become more patient, engaging and has grown into a great companion in his long-term foster home. He plays with other dogs, diligently watches their chickens, and herds their daughter. Rex is almost never without a ball in his mouth and keeps up with the pack as they rush down to a nearby pond, the almost daily swim has been helpful for regaining mobility. Rex lives a wonderful, shepherd like life. Slight to No Slopes! What does it take to be considered ideal for a family dog? How do you know if the Golden Retriever is the right fit for you and your family? A Brief Background on Golden Retrievers! Bred in the highlands of Scotland by Lord Tweedmouth in the mid to late s, Goldens are a cross between a Yellow Retriever and an extinct dog breed, the Tweed Water Spaniel. Lord Tweedmouth wanted the ideal gundog to accompany him during fowl hunting and be able to withstand the rugged terrain and rainy conditions. Aside from being able to retrieve fowl, Lord Tweedmouth wanted an even-tempered dog to have at home when not hunting. And so, the Golden Retriever was born. Later in the s, they soon became a popular breed amongst American families when President Gerald Ford had a Golden named Liberty as his family dog. Golden Retrievers, like their name states, are golden! Their luxurious coats come in a variety of light to dark shades, ranging from light like the white Golden Retriever or English Cream to dark golden colors, even close to chocolate. Their coats feature feathering down their backs, chest, belly, hindquarters, and tails. Goldens have soft expressions combined with floppy expressive ears that give them a puppy-like appearance even as adults. Another thing to note of the Golden Retriever is that those fluffy coats are actually what are known as double coats. A strong water repellant coat on top coupled with a dense undercoat to regulate their body heat. This all means these pups can be heavy shedders! What are Golden Retrievers Personalities like? There is something to be said about being named a perfect family dog. The Golden Retriever breed is loyal, affectionate, playful, and gentle. If brought into a home with children, your Golden Retriever puppy will be a great addition for help introducing your new Golden Retriever pup to your kids and how to play together, check out our blog! But being a great family dog doesn't mean they are easy! Goldens have lots of energy which can come out in more jumping and being more mouthy, especially as puppies. Check our training tips for raising a well-mannered Golden at the end of this blog! Two to three daily walks are a must, and throw in fun activities like hiking or going for a swim, your pup will stay golden! Golden Retrievers are eager to please type of breed. They generally have happy go lucky demeanors which lends itself to affection and friendliness, including toward strangers. If you wanted a pup that could eventually become a service dog, a Golden Retriever is a great choice and make for excellent working pups! As a high-energy breed, Golden Retrievers do best in a home that will provide them ample access to romp around. Homes with fenced in yards or access to a park or field on a daily basis where they can run and fetch to their hearts content are the best environment for Goldens! These pups, with consistent early socialization, can adapt and thrive to living in a home with other dogs, or pets, and children! They love to play and make great playmates. That being said, their social nature can lead to dependencies on their owners and family. Golden Retrievers may develop separation anxiety if left alone and not properly trained from an early age. Golden Retrievers may also contract heart disease called subvalvular aortic stenosis SAS that with early diagnosis and treatment can allow for a regular life-span. When you are looking to add a Golden Retriever puppy, make sure you are working with a reputable breeder that cares for the health quality of the dogs they breed. Take advantage of that natural drive and eagerness to please by setting foundations at home. Start your puppy a regular daily puppy schedule to create structured routines in the home. Include consistent feeding, nap, play and obedience training times throughout the day to help your Golden pup learn what to expect and build confidence at home. During their puppy training focus on their obedience commands to help your puppy learn to look to you for guidance, build their communication with you, and solidify a trusting relationship! Since Golden Retrievers love to work, positive reinforcement and food rewards will be valuable motivators to get your puppy focused and listening. In-person and online puppy training programs will walk you through how to teach the commands, exercises to help your puppy learn them, and troubleshoot when your puppy needs it! Teach Your Golden Retriever How to Greet New People and Dogs While their open friendly disposition will help your puppy make new friends where ever they go, make sure to teach your puppy the right way to do so! Some overly energetic and friendly pups can get excitable around new people and dogs. That can result in some unwanted whining, lunging, and jumping. When done correctly, socialization helps teach your puppy the proper way to greet people, other dogs and create boundaries. During socialization sessions, you can work with your puppy on those common over-excited behaviors when meeting strangers. And if you're not sure how to do this on your own, hire a local puppy trainer or join an online puppy training school to help set you up for the best success! Do Calming Obedience Exercises With all their high-energy and high-drive, teaching your Golden how to be calm in everyday scenarios will help tame that wild side! Great calming exercises include having your puppy learn to wait for their food bowl and in thresholds each time you enter or leave a space. This also extends to activities like fetch. Goldens are a natal for this! This can be done simply by having your pup drop the toy when they return and pausing for a few moments giving them a chance to settle before throwing it again for them to retrieve. Teach Them to Walk Nicely on Leash Many high-energy pups have a tendency to lunge toward exciting new things! Couple that with a social nature, and you may encounter that your Golden Retriever puppy will start to pull on leash. Focus on teaching them proper leash manners including how to walk in Heel position and how to pass other people and pups without lunging, jumping and excited whining, barking or nipping at them! That can greatly help possible bad encounters with strangers and other dogs while teaching them great habits! Did you recently bring home a Golden Retriever puppy? Are you still planning and not sure what breed fits your lifestyle? Let us know in the comments! Check out these blogs related to puppy training and more! They are simultaneously wonderful family pets—thanks to their friendly, tolerant attitude—and capable, intelligent working dogs. These sturdy, medium-sized dogs grow to about 55—75 pounds and typically live to be about 10—12 years old. Outgoing, trustworthy, eager-to-please, and easy-to-train, they are especially popular with families with young children. Goldens often maintain their fun-loving puppy attitudes and signature smile into adulthood. Part of the sporting dog group, golden retrievers are active dogs that require at least an hour of daily exercise. They live up to their name; they love retrieving just about anything thrown for them. This makes them excellent hunting companions and skilled service dogs. They love to eat, run, spend time with their owners, and even participate in obedience and agility events. Their coloring ranges from light golden to cream, and dark golden to golden, and their physique can vary from broad and dense to leaner and more sporty. According to AKC standards, goldens move with a smooth, powerful gait, and the feathery tail is carried, as breed fanciers say, with a "merry action. Thanks to their breeding as hunting and waterfowl-retrieving dogs in the Scottish Highlands, their outer coat is dense and repels water. They also have a thick undercoat. Their coats can vary in texture from wavy to straight. Heavy feathering appears on their chest, the backs of their legs, and tail. Temperament In general, golden retrievers are outgoing, playful, and gentle. They are also friendly, intelligent, and devoted. As they get older, most golden retrievers become docile and calm. Bred to be working retrievers, goldens have a lot of energy and require a lot of activity. They are best suited for owners with an active lifestyle and they thrive in a home where someone is around during the day to spend time with them. They don't do well when left at home on their own; they love their humans too much. Their happy demeanor often draws attention from other people when you are out and about—goldens get along well with strangers and other dogs. While they are not considered good guard dogs—they'd be more likely to show an intruder where the treats are than send the intruder running—golden retrievers are excellent service dogs thanks to their loyalty, intelligence, and stable temperament. They see themselves as part of the family and need to be treated as such. Luckily, goldens are not bothered by noise, commotion, and activity, making them very tolerant of children. Golden retrievers also take a "the more the merrier" approach to having other pets in the home. With proper introductions and training, goldens can be trusted with other dogs, cats, rabbits, and other animals. A golden retriever would do well reigning over a large fenced-in yard , so if you don't have a lot of outdoor space or you live in an apartment, make sure you get your golden outside regularly. A lot," Steen says. Owners should get used to having a fair amount of dog hair on clothing and furniture around the home. They have a thick, water-repellant double coat that sheds moderately in the winter and summer, and heavily in the spring and fall. However, if you brush your golden daily, you can prevent tangling and remove some dead hair before it covers everything in sight. Baths can also help and are recommended about once a month, but make sure the golden is fully dry before brushing begins. Golden retrievers will also need their nails trimmed about once or twice a month. A good indicator of when they need to be trimmed is when you can hear them clicking on the floor. Teeth should also be brushed at least two or three times a week. Ear checks are important as well; goldens have fold-over ears, which create an environment that encourages bacteria and fungus to grow. Look for redness or a bad odor and simply wipe out the outer ear with a cotton ball dampened with gentle, pH-balanced ear cleaner to help prevent infections. Exercise is an essential part of a golden retriever's day. At least one hour a day of rigorous activity is necessary, even if that happens over several different outings or play times throughout the day. Goldens can be taken on long runs , bike rides, hikes, and swims. They also enjoy hunting trips, field trials, and other canine sports like agility, obedience, and tracking. A golden that doesn't get enough exercise is likely to exhibit undesirable behaviors like digging and chewing. Mental challenges, such as learning tricks and playing with puzzle toys, are also appealing to goldens, but should never replace physical activity. Take it easy with exercise in a golden retriever's first two years of life, as their growth plates are still forming. Don't go for long, strenuous runs or hikes until the dog is fully grown, and always opt for grass over concrete. Early socialization and puppy training classes are important with golden retrievers. Puppies should be exposed to a wide variety of people, places, and situations to help them become well-adjusted in their young life. When it comes to feeding time , owners need to help golden retrievers manage their intake; they have a tendency to become overweight. Food should be measured out and given twice a day rather than leaving food out all the time. Dog treats should be given in moderation. If you're unsure whether your golden retriever is overweight, give him the eye test and the hands-on test. First, look down at him. You should be able to see a waist. Then place your hands on his back, thumbs along the spine, with the fingers spread downward. You should be able to feel but not see his ribs without having to press hard. If you can't, he likely needs less food and more exercise. Chat with your vet about the best course of action. According to Steen, they are a generally healthy breed, but goldens are at a slightly increased risk of hip dysplasia and cancer when compared to other dogs. Other health conditions, although not particularly common, include elbow dysplasia, cataracts , progressive retinal atrophy —or gradual deterioration of the retina—hypothyroidism, gastric dilatation-volvulus otherwise known as bloat , and allergies. Golden retrievers should also have their ears checked often and teeth brushed regularly for optimum health. History Dudley Marjoribanks, the first Lord of Tweedmouth, developed golden retrievers in the mid-to-late s. Although at one time a rumor indicated that golden retrievers descended from Russian sheep dogs, they were, in fact, bred in the Scottish Highlands. Marjoribanks bred the dogs for more than 50 years to create an ideal gundog—he was an avid hunter of waterfowl. Tweedmouth wanted a dog suited to the rainy climate and rugged terrain of the area, so he crossed his "yellow retriever" with a breed that is now extinct, the Tweed water spaniel. He also wanted the dog to be even-tempered in the home. A golden retriever was first shown at the British dog show in .The Kennel Club in England officially recognized the golden retriever as a distinct breed in .At that time, they were classified as "retriever — yellow or golden. Fun Facts Considered one of the most beloved dog breeds, golden retrievers gained popularity with American families in the s when President Gerald Ford had a golden named Liberty. Tucker Budzyn is currently the most recognized golden retriever on the Internet, with more than 3 million followers across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook. Golden retrievers are regulars on big and little screens. Golden retrievers love tennis balls. Just ask this 6-year-old golden named Finley , who is the Guinness World Record holder for carrying the most tennis balls in his mouth at a time. He can hold six! Was this page helpful?
Rescue Me! Grooming Your Mastiff Mixed With Boxer Boxer Mastiffs are easy to groom overall but generally shed in large amounts, which is why you should schedule days that you thoroughly brush their fur. Daily brushing is essential even for your short hair because it eliminates and lessens dirt accumulation as well as hair accumulation in the house. Ear and teeth hygiene should be an everyday priority to avoid dirt and bacterial accumulation in the ears and cavities or tartar, which could lead to infections in the future. Some of the conditions to take note of are: Hip Dysplasia: This is a genetic disease wherein there is an abnormal formation of the hip socket, which causes immense pain for the dog. If left untreated may cause crippling and painful arthritis of the joints. Due to excessive gastric content, the stomach of the dog becomes overstretched. It may cause severe pain when moving. Ectropion: This condition is more common in Mastiffs. The lower eyelids appear droopy due to an abnormality and may result in conjunctivitis or keratitis. Make sure you make arrangements with members of the family to ensure an adequately measured amount of food for your puppy. Choose gifts that have low calories instead, so that obesity is avoidable. The best choice of food would be those that are rich in protein for proper muscle building and repairing. Protein can be obtained through dog food alone, or you could ask your local vet for additional snacks and supplements. You can find protein in meat such as chicken, lamb, fish, and beef. Meat meals are concentrated forms sans the moisture but offer the same amount of protein as well. Fats are essential for eye and brain development because of the rich sources of Omega-3 Fatty acids. Chicken meat and fish oil are excellent sources. Avoid giving your Boxmas foods rich in common allergens such as corn, soy, dairy, wheat, and potatoes. Also refrain from giving any food coloring, as these may compromise the immune system. Never give them table food because it might cause different allergic reactions ranging from skin allergies to difficulty in breathing. To give your Boxer crossed with Mastiff better nutrition, check the following high quality and nutrient-packed dog food available on the market: Fromm Large Breed Puppy Gold Formula: This is a brand that ensures there are no allergens or irritants included. Specially formulated for puppies who are known to grow over fifty pounds, protein and fat levels are moderately incorporated. DHA-rich salmon oil is a bonus for brain and eye development. There are additional vitamins and antioxidants as well as a grain-free formula. Protein and fat levels are lower compared to different brands in the market but still packed with needed nutrients and vitamins to ensure proper growth and development. Royal Canin Boxer Adult Dry Food: This product boasts of high-quality proteins and nutrients, as well as the incorporation of L-carnitine. This combination helps your Mastiff mixed with Boxer maintain its overall built, burn fat efficiently, and avoid obesity. Orijen Puppy Large: The ingredients are fresh and high in protein. It consists of chicken and turkey, as well as fish. Your dog may be big or small, but you need to keep it happy and healthy all the time. Never give them the worst dry dog food that is low in nutrients and filled with by-products, and opt for best dry dog food instead. For the littlest of munchkins, check out our list of best puppy food brands , and for gray-coated, wise grandpa-doggos, opt only for the best senior dry dog food. Your stunning mixed heartthrob carries the genes of their super-gorgeous and incredibly different parents. But that means that you are in luck as you can offer your little charmer both the best dry dog food for small dogs and the best large breed dry dog food. Let them have a final say in which kibble they nibble. In line with the diet, also schedule a daily exercise regimen for your Boxmas. They are highly energetic and exuberant by nature, which means they require at least an hour of intense activities and exercises. This program includes running, walking, playing fetch, obedience exercises, and jogging. Never contain your Boxer crossed with Mastiff in a small space such as apartments or condos. Fulfill their need to stay fit by choosing a home that has adequate running space if you plan to adopt a Boxmas. Another option is to take trips to the park or jog around the neighborhood. If left idle for too long, they can be agitated or easily distracted and tend to destroy or chew on things out of frustration. Here are some toys to help exercise your Boxmas: OxGord BazooK-9 Tennis Ball Launcher Gun: Since your hybrid is energetic and loves running, this tennis ball launcher is a perfect toy when visiting parks or playing in the backyard. Invest in this versatile product so that it also saves you energy from having to throw the ball. It prevents the potential risk for periodontal disease. KONG Wubba Dog Toy: Made of nylon and has two balls inside one chewable and one squeaky , the Wubba dog toy will be a Boxmas favorite because of its durability and appearance. There is no need to continually throw away and replace toys when you purchase this product. Your hybrid will engage in chewing and decrease any risks of periodontal diseases as well. It can be a challenge for most owners because of the intelligence plus energetic combo, but with patience and determination, your hybrid will follow proper orders in no time. Boxers are easy to lead and train. This trait will save you a lot of time and effort. Make sure to familiarize yourself and your pup with play biting and attacking an intruder or stranger. If you can, plan for the whole week instead. It can be a challenge to keep their attention focused on the training, but with perseverance and patience, everything will eventually pay off. Encourage positive reinforcement: Positive reinforcement will always be one of the best and most endorsed strategies to train a dog because it taps into the mental aspect. Your hybrid will automatically think that the specific actions you want your dog to do will earn a treat. Apply this in all tricks and strategies you wish to impart. Another thing to remember is always to have a big space for them to move around when around children to avoid any unwanted accidents. Your hybrid is a large dog and might be prone to crashes if confined in a small space. You can renovate your backyard and put obstacles or toys, or you may visit the park and play with other dogs. But in general, Boxer Mastiffs are very loyal, fun, active, and protective. The temperament from both parent breeds ensures that there is no aggressiveness or violence along with, of course, proper training. Older members of the family can pitch in and help training the big fellow, and this also allows more exposure to different people. This plan will avoid the unwanted one-owner type of dog in the future, as well as agitation and idleness. As an owner, it is your responsibility to ensure a healthy diet, proper living space, frequent trips to the vet, and specific training to help your hybrid live the best years of its life. Both the Boxer and the Mastiff breeds were historically used as protectors or guardians. That means Boxer puppies are highly likely to inherit this instinct to protect and guard their families. This will help them grow into well-rounded and obedient adult dogs. That means shorter walks, no jumping from heights, and feeding a specific dog food designed for larger breeds. They excelled as cattle dogs, watchdogs, police dogs, and guide dogs, as well as serving as war dogs in both world wars. Mastiff type breeds have been around for centuries. Luckily, U. Boxmas dogs are extremely protective of their families Thanks to the fact that both the Mastiff and the Boxer have been bred to instinctively protect their families, Boxmas puppies are highly likely to inherit this same trait. Without these training sessions, their protective instinct can soon turn into aggression. On the flip side, when it comes to mixed breeds, it can be harder to predict particular characteristics of these hybrids in terms of size, appearance, and temperament. This gives them a nice balance between activity and rest. While these dogs are sweet and gentle around their families, their protective natures mean they always want to make sure their owners are safe. The Boxer was developed in Germany in the 19th century and its ancestors were two German mastiff-type breeds. They were later bred with the ancestors of the Mastiff and Bulldog. Boxers were first used for dog-fighting, bull-baiting, cart pulling, cattle dogs, rounding up livestock, and to catch and pin wild boar and bison until hunters could arrive. Later they became popular theater and circus dogs. There are two types of Boxers: the German and the American Boxer. German Boxers have bigger heads and are generally more muscular than American Boxers. See store for details on a puppy. The American Canine Association, Inc. The American Canine Registry.

However, this is common amongst dogs in general — not just ones that look like wolves. Their sweet, affectionate nature makes the Blue Bay Shepherd a great family pet. But they will do best in a specific type of home. They also tend to be huge. So a home with a large yard and lots of space to run is an ideal place for them. Dogs with wolf blood in general tend to be healthy and have a long life expectancy. However, counter this with the tiny gene pool. All Blue Bays come from the same place and the breeders at Southern Breeze Ranch have to be cautious to avoid inbreeding and the problems this can cause. Vicki specifically used the old-style German Shepherds to avoid the modern GSDs' sloped back and the hip dysplasia that commonly comes with it. Plus, the Shepherds she used may still pass down issues like epilepsy, degenerative myelopathy, pituitary dwarfism, and eye abnormalities. To help prevent this, avoid feeding within 30 minutes of exercise — either before or after. You may also consider using a slow feeder bowl if your dog tends to eat too fast. And wolf dogs are exactly the same. A Blue Bay Shepherd requires daily brushing during the worst seasons to keep this shedding under control. The rest of the year, you can get away with brushing them times a week. Regular brushing will also help keep their long hair free of tangles and give it that shine that makes them so beautiful. Regardless, brushing your dog is a great way to bond with him and helps him to feel safe and loved in your home. As their name suggests, this mix is made up of a German Shepherd and a Wolf, these hybrids crossbreeds are often called Wolfdogs or Wolf-Shepherds. Whilst there are many types of German Shepherd Wolf mixes, the Saarloos Wolfhund is the most notable. They were created by Leendert Saarloos back in when he crossbred a German Shepherd with a Eurasian wolf. The aim of this cross-breeding was to bring back the natural traits the GSD had lost when domesticated. You should also keep in mind that they are illegal in several areas across the US, so do your research before keeping one. The German Shepherd already resembles a wolf, so this hybrid does not look hugely different. Due to the genetic diversity, there is no way to tell what a specific pup will look like when they mature. However, there could be a pup that will look more like their German Shepherd parent, rather than their Wolf parent, and vice-versa. Wolfdogs tend to have smaller skulls than the common wolf, they have pointed ears and brown almond-shaped eyes. Height and Weight A German Shepherd can weigh around lb male and lb female. Males stand at around inches and females between inches. So depending on age, sex, diet, and genetics, the German Shepherd Wolf mix can weigh anywhere from lbs. Colors Pups can be found in a number of colors as the classic German Shepherd has 11 different official colors, with the most common being black and tan. But they can also have colors such as sable, black, white, and gray. Wolves can be mottled gray in color, but occasionally can be nearly pure white, red, brown, or even black. Coat German Shepherds have a thick double coat that is medium length. They have a dense outer coat with straight hair that lies close to the body. They have short undercoats and long, coarse outer coats. The GSD and Wolves have very similar coats, so it is fairly likely that their mix will have a double coat and medium-length fur. They will also shed annually, getting rid of their winter coat when the days become warmer. It is safe to say that this crossbreed should not be kept in warmer climates. German Shepherd Wolf Mix Personality and Temperament Both German Shepherds and Wolves have very different personalities, so it can be difficult to predict what their mix will be like. But we will do our best below to explain some behaviors which should be expected. Wolves are pack animals, meaning they are very protective and loyal to their family — they will do anything to protect their kin. They are den-dwelling animals, meaning that your mix is likely to dig anywhere they want. Being wild animals, Wolves are reserved when it comes to unfamiliar surroundings, people, and inanimate objects. They may be very protective but will cower at the sight of strangers. It should be said that the German Shepherd Wolf will be unpredictable in social situations, they can become aggressive when fearful. This can be avoided by giving them lots of socialization as a young pup. They are also very curious and will try to escape whenever opportunity strikes, so make sure to keep your backyard securely fenced. This hybrid will have a strong prey drive, as the GSD was bred to herd livestock and the wolf is a natural predator, so your Wolfdog mix will chase anything and everything that moves. They are also prone to howling as this is how they communicate in a pack. This is not a dog that should be living with small children. This dog should be kept by experienced keepers who are firm and disciplined with their pooch. If they favor their German Shepherd parentage, they will be eager to please dog training will be easy. Either way, you should be training them with positive reinforcement. Give them rewards when they follow your command or when they stop unwanted behavior. Many people believe that dominance training is the way forward with this dog as wolves are pack animals, but studies show that this training method leads to further aggression and reduces the quality of your relationship with your doggy friend. This is a dog for someone who has experience training strong-willed dogs before — you need to be firm and consistent. Do not let them think they are the boss of you. Socializing a dog like this is very important as the wolf can be reserved and unpredictable. Make sure to socialize them with a range of people and different situations. Mental stimulation is very important if you do not want your Wolfdog to get bored and chew everything in sight. You can give them lots of toys and play with them, playtime can decrease their stress levels and make them more confident. Caring for a German Shepherd Wolf Mix Owning a German Shepherd Wolf mix is not something you should take lightly, there are specific laws on owning Wolfdogs, so you should check your state regulations. This cross breed needs an owner who is experienced in training difficult dogs that need lots of attention and care. You will also need a large backyard which has very secure fencing. You should not own a Wolfdog in heavily populated areas, as they have a habit of howling a lot. There are many other responsibilities that you will have when owning this hybrid so keep reading to learn more… Exercise Requirements This is a very energetic dog, as wolves can travel up to 30 miles a day. They will need around hours of exercise each day to keep fit and healthy. Not getting their exercise will result in them destroying your furniture and anything else they can bite. It is also recommended to let them roam around in a fenced backyard, so they can play, dig and explore. You should not take your Wolfdog to dog parks and make sure to keep them on a leash and harness. They will need regular brushing to avoid matting and tangles, and more when shedding season comes along. Do not bathe this dog too much as it can strip away the natural oils that make the coat healthy and shiny. As with every dog, dental hygiene is important so brush their teeth once a week. You should also cut their nails, to avoid overgrowth and splitting. Feeding and Diet Deciding what to feed your Wolfdog is not an exact science, but you should be feeding your dog a diet rich in protein. Avoid buying traditional store-bought dog food as these are rich in carbohydrates and artificial ingredients. You will need to do research into what type of meat-based diets you would prefer your dog to eat. Be mindful of how much you are feeding your dog, too much food can lead to obesity. Keep an eye on their weight by using a body condition score. Known Health Problems Wolfdogs are generally healthy animals, but they are still prone to certain health issues. Having pet insurance could save you from the headache of going to the vets with reimbursement for every vet bill from now on! The German Shepherd resembles a wolf in appearance, to begin with, so you can count on the hybrid to be large, with a long face, thick coat and pointed ears. The coat of the Wolfshepherd can be gray, sable, white, black, or a mixture of these colors. It will most likely inherit the thick fur that is standard for both parents and is known to shed heavily. You can take a closer look at this Wolfdog mix in the video. Is a Wolf Shepherd dangerous? If a Wolfdog is uncomfortable, it can attack out of defense. This has earned them a reputation for being dangerous and they are banned in several US states. Wolves build dens and roam frequently. They also have a strong pack and predatory instincts. These traits translate into destructive behavior for the Wolfdog, such as digging holes in the garden and chewing up wooden furniture. They also may urinate more frequently than other dog breeds to mark their territory. It takes one who is passionate and willing to devote time and energy to a German Shepherd Wolf dog. Because of its unpredictable nature, it is advised that this crossbreed should not be left alone around other pets and especially children. Black German Shepherd Wolf mixes in particular, are known for being less tolerant towards children. They have been known to react by biting and shaking. They are strong, intelligent, playful, and affectionate towards family. Are Wolf German Shepherd Mix health issues common? As we mentioned above the life expectancy of a German Shepherd Wolf Mix is up to 14 or even .However, the German Shepherd breed is vulnerable to serious genetic diseases that can get passed down to this particular Wolfdog hybrid. Hip Dysplasia : A painful hip joint deformity that causes loss of mobility and lameness. Elbow Dysplasia: A joint deformity that affects the elbows and can cause pain and loss of mobility. Bloat: A build-up of gas in the stomach that can cause it to twist and lead to shock or even death. Cancer: Abnormal cell growth that can spread throughout the body. Feeding time Since the Wolfshepherd is prone to hip and elbow dysplasia , it is important to keep her on a strict feeding regime to avoid obesity. Aim for 2 to 3 cups of meat-based dog food divided between meals each day. Remember that every dog has different health needs. Exercise time The German Shepherd Wolf hybrid needs daily activity to thwart destructive behavior and keep physically fit. A house with a large fenced-in yard is the most suitable environment for this crossbreed. They need room to stretch their legs and roam. If you live in an apartment, you might want to consider a smaller dog breed or perhaps a dog that resembles a wolf. Not only is an apartment too small a space, but this mix prefers to spend time outdoors, like its Wolf parent. Playing fetch with a ball or tugging games can help get that chewing habit under control. Can you train a Wolf Shepherd? This is the only way to lessen the inclination towards aloofness, fear, and an unpredictable temperament. Training needs to start at the puppy stage to be effective. Be prepared, because Wolfdogs are not easy to train and require time, patience, and consistency. Dominance is one of the main German Shepherd Wolf mix characteristics that you will have to focus on. As the owner, you must be confident and assert that you are the leader of the pack. If attention wanes during a game or your Wolfdog decides to ignore commands, stay positive yet firm and above all — do not let them dominate you. Socialization is key to helping a Wolfdog accept other pets in the household. Walks around the park can help, but always keep your pup on a leash. Supervise them when other dogs are present. When searching for reputable German Shepherd Wolf mix breeders, look for someone that is open to you visiting and will provide health clearances. They should be able to answer questions about the parents, especially regarding medical history. This results in a high number of them being left at rescue shelters. Here are 3 Wolfdog rescues where you can look for a German Shepherd Wolf mix along with other Wolfdogs. Many places have laws against owning any sort of wolf mix, including a German Shepherd-Worf hybrid. This is because, unlike dogs, wolves are completely wild animals, and while they can be domesticated to a certain extent, that wild streak is likely to live on. It just means that in extreme circumstances, these dogs are likely to be less predictable than those without wolf DNA inside them. The appeal is undeniable, but you still need to do your homework before adding one to your pack. Most experts would contend that a wolf mix is one with a purebred wolf in its bloodline within four or five generations. They act just like canine puppies for the most part. However, once they start to grow up, the wolf-like tendencies begin to emerge. They can start slowly in adolescence before becoming extremely apparent in adulthood. Many people have fallen in love with a wolf mix puppy, thinking that it has the features of a wolf but the sweetness of a dog. That may be true in some cases, but in others, the animal grew up to be quite a fearsome pet indeed. They Can Be Quite Unpredictable You would think that a wolf mix would be proud and fearless, never backing down from anyone or anything. The fact of the matter is that while these dogs can certainly be ferocious, they also tend to be extremely shy and skittish. Wolves are scared of people and for good reason, sadly. That means that while your German Shepherd Wolf mix would readily sacrifice their own lives to protect their family, they usually also prefer to cower and hide when strangers arrive. That can lead to dangerous situations, especially with children. If you push these dogs past their breaking point, the wolf will eventually come out — and that can have tragic results. Some of these animals take after their canine parents, while others favor their wolf lineage. Generally speaking, though, you can expect your German Shepherd Wolf mix to be fiercely loyal and protective of their families yet wary of outsiders. Due to the wolf in them, these dogs tend to be more pack-driven than other pups. You may even want to give them a canine companion, although this can have its own set of challenges. That intelligence makes them capable escape artists, though. Are These Dogs Good for Families? Little ones will often push a pet too far, and you never know when the wolf will come out. If you do bring one of these animals into a home with little kids, never leave them unsupervised. You should also teach your kids how to deal with the dog, making sure they know not to mess with their food or toys or abuse them in any way. Older kids may be able to get along with them, though, so if your children are a little more mature, you might be able to bring one of these dogs home without issue. All of this assumes that you know how to handle one of these animals, of course. They get lonely easily and may become depressed if left alone for long periods of time. However, they may be prone to aggression with other dogs as well. Pack culture is a much bigger deal for wolves than for dogs, so your mix may be prone to dominance. Other pets, however, are likely a bad idea. Cats and smaller animals will most likely be seen as food rather than friends, so you should keep your German Shepherd Wolf mix as far away from them as possible. All of this also means that you need to be absolutely certain that your mix is kept on a secure leash and collar or harness during walks. You may not feel up to the task once you realize how much is involved with raising one of these animals. That will affect how much they eat, but you can expect them to have a healthy appetite regardless. These are energetic pups, so they need as much long-lasting energy as they can get. Avoid problematic ingredients like soy, wheat, corn, or animal by-products, as these can make your dog fat without giving them much in the way of nutrition. Many dogs have trouble processing these ingredients as well. In addition to feeding them a proper diet, you should exercise strict portion control and never allow them to free-feed. As a result, expect to provide your pet with plenty of exercises. They can easily destroy your entire lawn if not properly tuckered out. Long walks are a good idea, but you should also play fetch or something that requires more energy every day. Just be careful not to make them run and jump too much, as it puts quite a bit of strain on their spines. Mental stimulation is equally important. You can give them puzzle toys, play hide-and-seek, or put them through extensive training sessions. They respond best to positive reinforcement, so try to convince them to cooperate by offering them treats or affection. The problem with this is that eventually, those emotions will boil over. That could lead to unpleasant consequences for you. The shedding becomes extreme twice a year when the dogs blow their coats. You should only need to bathe them if they get visibly dirty, but you will need to brush their teeth and trim their claws regularly. Be sure to keep their ears clean as well, as they can be prone to infection. This reduces the risk of spinal issues later in life. Still, there are a few things to be aware of. Minor Conditions. Prone to shedding. Lifespan: 12 - 14 years. They can have several health issues including joint problems and cancer. No - definitely not recommended for families with young kids. Unpredictable temperaments. Although GSDs are easily trainable, wolves are wild animals. These hybrids should be reserved for very experienced dog owners. They need a ton of exercise, which is easier said than done. Once they reach a certain age and level of strength, walking your wolfdog in public can be difficult. In most places in the United States, it is illegal to own a wild animal like a wolf unless you have a special and expensive wildlife permit. GSD-wolf mixes walk a tightrope between being considered wild animals or domestic pets. Because of the wolf parent or grandparent, the law considers the resulting mix not reliably domesticated, and thus prone to acting dangerously. Therefore, if you want a wolf-dog mix, you may have to do a lot of research to even find a place in the world that will let you do so. Some proponents of wolf-dog mixes claim that some dog breeds have more grey wolf parent DNA than other dog breeds. If these breeds are allowed, then so should GSD and wolf mixes. According to Science Trends. These breeds include the Finnish Spitz, the Shar-Pei, the Siberian Husky another breed often crossed with wolves , and the Greenland dog. However, the ancestors of these breeds branched off from wolves thousands of years ago, and not simply one or two generations ago. Over one hundred years ago, German shepherds were popularly called Alsatian Wolf Dogs, since they were bred in the Alsace region of what is now France and looked like wolves. However, no wolves were actually involved in creating German Shepherd mixes. Other breeds mistakenly thought to have wolves in their recent ancestry include Siberian Huskies and the Alaskan Malamute. Although descended from wolves, the last wolf in their pedigree was thousands of years ago. Even puppies in the same litter can act in vastly different ways. Wolves tend to ignore people and do what they want. Any wolf-dog mix will be prone to unpredictable behavior at times, and will tend to act more like a wolf than a dog. Wolves are intensely territorial creatures. They attack any predator in their home range, including wolves not in their packs. This behavior has convinced some people that GSD-wolf mixes make better guard dogs than dogs. This, however, is a myth. According to the International Wolf Center, dogs have been bred for thousands of years to bark when intruders appear. Wolves on the other hand stay silent. This is because large dogs age faster than small dogs. Why this happens in dogs and not other species is not known. The future health of a wolf mix is harder to predict than the health of a purebred dog. After decades of study, it is now known what health problems certain breeds are prone to. Because German Shepherd — wolf hybrids are a genetic toss of the dice, you have no way of knowing what health problems these animals will be prone to. A wolf mix needs to be well-behaved in order to be treated for an illness, but the mix may even be too dangerous to treat. Never assume that all vets will be willing to take in a German shepherd wolf mix as a patient. All the vets in your area may refuse to work on such an animal, and this is not due to prejudice against wolves. Although all vets are trained to help domestic animals like dogs, very few are trained in the care of exotics. One problematic area for vets and exotic animal owners is that of vaccination. Rabies vaccines are crucial for dog owners. Because of the threat of rabies and the problems of the rabies vaccine working on wolf-dogs, any wolf-dog that shows signs of rabies or has been exposed to a rabid animal needs to be euthanized. The two most common medical problems with any wolf-dog mix are complications from being overweight and hip dysplasia. Being overweight can also contribute to hip dysplasia. Hip dysplasia is very common in German shepherds and in most large dog breeds. Hip dysplasia symptoms like limping start when the dog is young, and gets worse over time if left untreated. This is a very painful and chronic condition that may require surgery to treat. Depending on the genetic roll of the dice, a GSD wolf puppy may be looking at a very short, unhealthy life. GSDs are also prone to a deadly and incurable condition called degenerative myelopathy that hits GSDs seven years of age and older. However, this can become quite complicated since wolf-dogs cannot be walked and played with like normal dogs. Puppies may be able to walk on a leash in the beginning. Sadly, a lot of wolf-dog hybrids wind up staying permanently in an outdoor pen because they cannot be walked or trained. Despite the endless unknowns surrounding a GSD wolf mix, their size is actually predictable. The smallest hybrids will be as small as a GSD — roughly 49 pounds. The largest will be about pounds, which is the size of a large male Mackenzie Valley wolf, the largest known wolf species. As is common in most wolf species and dog breeds, females tend to be smaller. GSDs are as tall as small wolves, but wolves can actually reach heights of 34 inches tall at the shoulders. GSD wolf mixes come in a wide variety of colors, but most have two or even three tones to their coats. Common two-toned colors include black and tan, grey and white, silver and white, brown and grey, and tan and grey. Puppies of dogs, wolf-dog mixes, and even wolves can be trained and easily handled. However, once the wolf-dog hybrid becomes physically and sexually mature, all bets are off. Just when a GSD wolf mix matures differs from puppy to puppy. Dogs mature a lot faster than wolves. A German shepherd wolf mix could mature as early as six months, when a GSD matures, or as late as four years old when a wolf typically matures. However, these are not wolves. However, if you want an animal that obeys commands all the time, why not just save yourself the time and money, and go with a dog? They also ask people for affection. They have to be taught to hunt by their older pack-mates. They grow accustomed to being given food at predictable times. All wolf hybrids, including GSD wolf mixes, have severely bitten or attacked people and pets in the United States. Wolf-hybrids often attack children more than adults because children make noises resembling small prey animals. More often, wolf-dog mixes will attack other pets than people. These are very territorial animals. If any other animal is perceived as being on their turf, a GSD wolf mix may not only attack but kill a dog, cat, or other animal. Not only will you have to pay restitution and possible court costs, but depending on your local laws, your GSD wolf mix may be confiscated and euthanized. Your chances of appeal are very small, and will involve significant legal expenses. The only known factors are that this is a large animal with the ability to inflict serious damage on pets, livestock, wildlife, and people, especially children. You may have to keep the animal in a pen for the rest of its life. You may never be able to find a vet willing to look after the GSD wolf mix. You may have laws banning the ownership of such an animal where you live. A GSD wolf mix puppy or adult costs thousands of dollars. You will need plenty of land, fencing, and legal advice in order to keep it. When it comes to any wolf-dog mix, leave it alone. Get one of the safer German Shepherd mixes instead. German Shepherd wolf mix breeds are one of the biggest dogs you can get, averaging to around 24 inches tall. In terms of weight, they average to around 60 lbs heavy when they are fully grown. While this is slightly smaller than the average German Shepherd, this is still large for a dog. Remember, their personality will make them seem even larger than they physically are. This mix breed is highly unpredictable. This means that while German Shepherds are generally bigger than the wolf mix breed, they are much more obedient. A larger and more obedient German Shepherd will seem much smaller than a GSD wolf mix that has an unpredictable and potentially dangerous temperament. Even though GSD wolf mix breeds might grow to be slightly smaller than a regular German Shepherd, the average lifespan of both is the same. They are both considered medium-large breeds, which means that they can come with a variety of health issues including joint problems and cancer. What percentage of German Shepherds are wolf? Technically speaking, every dog derives from wolves. They were never bred with wolves. It all depends on the genetics of the German Shepherd, as some might have come from a background that bred wolves into the family. Instead, German Shepherds descend from the Canidae biological family in the same way as other domestic dogs do. This biological family includes wolves, foxes, and dingoes. Other breeds of dogs like Siberian Huskies and Finnish Spitz are more closely related to wolves as their ancestors had been wolves for thousands of years. How can you tell if your German Shepherd is part wolf? German Shepherds were never bred with wolves when the breed was standardized in Germany in the s, which means that there is no element of wolf in their DNA. Still, they are part of the Canidae family in the same way as other domesticated dogs are. However, you can still commit to a genetic test to see if your German Shepherd has come from a family that attempted to breed a wolf into the genetic line. Also, when buying or adopting your GSD, the seller should make you aware of if the dog is part wolf. In the wild they are pack animals and at home this translates to a fierce loyalty and extreme protectiveness over their families, whom they consider their pack. The pack mentality that this mix has is dampened down by their German Shepherd parents, but they still maintain some of that natural wariness that wolves in the wild have of humans. There is a common misconception that breeding a German Shepherd with a wolf will make an even more ferocious guard dog, but this often backfires since wolves are shy and reserved when threatened. This can make these mixes shy and nervous. They have an inherent mistrust for anything out of the ordinary and thrive on routine in their day-to-day lives. To bring out the friendly German Shepherd side of the mix , they need plenty of early socialization to other dogs, new situations, and changes in their home. Both parents have strong prey drives, so expect them to want to chase everything. They also love to dig, with an instinct to dig burrows just like wild wolves. To provide an outlet for this energy they will need lots of space outdoors to roam, play, dig, and explore. This mix will not cope well with living indoors all the time. Overall, this mix is a tamed version of their wild wolf parent. They are unpredictable, aggressive, energetic, protective and shy. However, despite all of their similarities to the wolf, they are still part German Shepherd and will likely respond poorly to dominance training. You are much better off using positive reinforcement. These mixes are intelligent and loyal so they will be eager to please and therefore much more likely to follow your rules if you are kind but persistent and firm with instructions. As far as socialization you should start as early as possible. However, even when trained properly by an experienced owner, Wolfdogs are still unpredictable and therefore only suit the most knowledgeable of owners. Their hybrid vigor means that in general they tend to be healthier than both their parent breeds. Although they do not suffer from any known common health issues, there is a question over how well the rabies vaccine works in these dogs. The vaccine has not been tested in Wolfdogs and therefore it cannot be certain that it works or is even safe for them. This is relatively cheap given they are such a rare and legendary dog. However, they are cheap because they are not in high demand and they are banned in many states. In fact it is hard to find a breeder. These dogs are sometimes illegally bred and therefore do end up in rescues. Here are three specific Wolfdog rescues where some of the dogs are likely to be German Shepherd cross wolf amongst other wolf crosses. Saarloos Wolfhunds originated in the Netherlands in when a zoologist called Saarloos crossed a German Shepherd with a Siberian gray wolf. He believed they had become too domesticated and loved humans a little too much. This is because recent genetic research shows that this dog is more wolf than they are German Shepherd, making them more like their wild ancestors than the domesticated ones. Because of this the American Kennel Club does not recognize the breed as they are too wild and unpredictable. Meanwhile, in the Czech Republic, German Shepherds were crossed with Carpathian Gray wolves with the idea of creating a border patrol dog. The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog was slightly more successful than Saarloos because they wanted simply the physical characteristics of the wolf to enhance the German Shepherd, rather than their aggressive tendencies. With similar aims as in the Czech Republic, Russia become the third country to breed the German Shepherd with wolves. This time the Caspian Steppe wolf was used. These wolves are known for their unusually friendliness towards humans. They became known as the Volkonsoby Wolfdog, however they are not recognized by any Kennel Club internationally. Care Caring for these dogs comes down to three important tasks: feeding, grooming and exercise. German Shepherd Wolf Mixes have a much higher requirement for protein than standard domesticated dogs. Feeding kibble will not be enough to keep these huge dogs healthy. In the wild wolves spend a good part of their day hunting and eating whatever they catch. Providing your mix with a raw diet by hiding it around their outdoor space will encourage them to use up some of their endless energy and use that intelligent mind of theirs to sniff it out and eat it. Next up is exercise. Wolves can travel up to 50 miles a day so it is no surprise that this mix is full of energy. They need plenty of space to roam outdoors as they are not fond of being walked on a leash. However, they love to play games and will need at least 2 hours a day of vigorous exercise such as playing frisbee or tug-o-war. The final part of their care is grooming. As heavy shedders with a thick double coat they need grooming once a week. Like their German Shepherd parent, this can be done using a slicker brush. An important part of the weekly groom should be checking them for ticks and fleas. With the amount of time they spend outdoors they are particularly susceptible to picking up ticks and they are therefore at a higher risk of the diseases carried by them too. They need an owner who knows how to handle and train them well, as well as one with a large and well-secured yard for them to roam and play in. Wolfdogs will howl and it can be heard up to 10 miles away. They howl more when left alone or when bored but they will howl to some extent no matter what. Because of this these dogs are not suited to the city. Ultimately, these dogs take a lot of time, money, and effort to keep. Despite their mighty looks they should not be bought as status pets. They require an experienced, knowledgeable owner with good reason to own this breed. If you are looking for more a pet-friendlier dog then consider the Blue Bay Shepherd. These dogs grow to be some of the biggest out there They can weigh up to pounds and measure more than 30 inches tall. However, on average they are close to pounds and 25 inches tall. What would you feed a German Shepherd wolf mix? These mixes should be fed on a well-balanced raw feed diet with vitamin and mineral supplements. Is there any wolf in a German Shepherd? Just like all domestic dogs, the German Shepherd descended from the wolf. However, they are no more related to the wolf than a Frenchie or a Spaniel, given that the ancestors of all domestic dogs evolved around 30, years ago from the wolf. Wrapping Up Wolfdogs are any breed of domestic dog crossed with a wolf, but the most common and only recognized of these are German Shepherd cross wolves. Although they are protective and loyal, they are generally shy and nervous dogs especially when faced with strangers or new situations. Just remember that they are a half wild animal and are unpredictable. They need a lot of outdoor space to carry out all the normal activities their wolf parent would have done in the wild, including roaming, digging, hunting, howling, and playing. In the early days of Labrador Retrievers , they were black and white. Any other colors were culled at birth. The first Yellow Labs were also rather dark and born with tinges of Red. Dog coat colors are like a fashion statement, and like any trend, it waxes and wanes with the times. We all want what is uncommon. Back in the day, solid Black Labs were all the rage, until people began desiring the lesser-seen Yellow or Red Labs. When they got too popular, Red Labs and the darker Yellows fell out of favor. Today, light Yellow Labs are more common due to an explosion in popularity around the s. This made Red Labs rare again and have now turned into a commodity. Much like their cousin, the Red Golden Retriever , Labs with these russet-colored coats are considered controversial simply because they do not meet traditional expectations. Some people claim that Red Labradors are crossed with a Vizsla , and are not actually purebred. The same claims have been made about Silver Labradors. Purists are convinced that Labradors lack the genes to be Silver naturally, and therefore must be crossed with the Weimaraner. These claims have never been proven. Furthermore, one look at their genetics will show that it is possible for these color variations in the breed. Before we delve into the exact science of a Fox Red Labrador, we must first understand how genetics work. Each dog inherits an allele from each parent which makes up a gene. This allele can be dominant or recessive. They are often written in pairs, such as BB or Bb, one for each parent. There are a few loci that determine coat color, from the A locus to the E locus. The B allele is a dominant black gene and can result in a black dog. In fact, all black dogs have at least one dominant B allele. Black Labs can carry the recessive b and when two are present, you will get a Chocolate Lab. However, the gene that controls the brown pigment lies in the E locus. To get a Yellow Lab, they must have two recessive ee alleles. This powerful little gene has the ability to completely block the dominant black color, repressing it so only the yellow comes through. Image source Now comes the genes that create the dark yellow we identify as Fox Red: the a and c alleles. The A represents the pheomelanin in your dog, it comes in various forms that can affect the coat. This part of the color genetics can be quite complicated, but different modifiers can result in different results. For example, at will produce Black and Tan Labradors. In the case of Fox Red Labradors, it often looks like as. If they inherited the allele As, the dog would be either cream or white because that is a pheomelanin-suppressing allele. The intensity of the color is expressed by the c allele, so a dog with CC will have a darker shade, those with Cc will be in the mid-range, and Labs with the cc gene are likely to be quite light. A particular type of C locus will result in a White Labrador. In order to get a Fox Red Lab, the dog will need to have both CC and ee as well as the right type of A locus, making its puppy a special little fella indeed. Therefore as per the breed standard, Labradors with this Fox Red color are eligible to compete in the show ring, as long as they are a solid color. Unfortunately, judges often favor lighter shades of yellow. Dancer was crowned champion in the United States in the year , making her the first Red Lab with this title. The American Kennel Club states that Labradors should be proportional, with a muscular build. On the contrary, breeders are fighting very hard to produce more show dog champions of the red variety. However, this is slowly changing as judges become more accepting. Since English Labs have bred for show confirmation they will mostly be in the traditional yellow, chocolate, or black. On the other hand, American Labs are field dogs and are bred for their skills more than their looks. American Labs are also much more athletic-looking. You can further compare the two types with our chart. No, Fox Red Labradors have the same height and weight as other colored Labs. Low-quality kibble typically does not offer the nutrients that a dog needs, resulting in them eating more. You can expect them to live 10 to 12 years on average. Both silver labs and white labs are very controversial amongst Labrador Retriever purists, the major breed registries, and judges at dog shows. There are even some who refuse to acknowledge the Fox Red Labrador as a purebred Lab. These naysayers argue that the Fox Red Labrador is actually the result of breeding a Lab with another breed, namely a Vizsla or a Rhodesian Ridgeback. However, this has been proven false over and over again. You will often see them working as hunting dogs and gun dogs, or competing in all sorts of agility tests. Usually, their ways are much more destructive to household objects, but can result in injury to your dog, too. You will want to take your Labrador Retriever for at least one long walk or run each day. Walking will allow your dog to work its muscles, while sniffing will allow your dog to work its brain. Other great ways to allow your Lab to exercise include hiking, swimming in a lake or backyard pool, or spending the day at doggy daycare. For brain exercise, search Amazon for things like treat puzzles, slow feeders, and other clever dog toys. Thus, your Lab will always be in the mood for a snack! Insist on feeding your Fox Red Lab at regular feeding times, and a daily total of about three cups of dry dog food. If you are buying your dog from a breeder, it is very important to purchase from a reputable breeder, as nearly all of the most common health issues for Labs are present in their gene pool. This is when the bone becomes malformed at the joint. At first, it will cause a little pain and an occasional limp. However, it eventually progresses into very painful arthritis. Progressive Retinal Atrophy is another malady that tends to affect Labradors. This terrible disease eventually leads to blindness, so it may be a good idea to have your Lab periodically examined by a canine ophthalmologist. This scary health problem results in the loss of muscular control following extreme exercise. Any Labrador Retriever that is being used for breeding should be tested for these three common health problems in Labs. If you have done your research and decided that a Fox Red Labrador is the right fit for your household, then you are probably wondering how much a Fox Red Lab would cost. Because those with a fox-like red coat are much rarer than, say, those with a solid black coat, you should expect to pay quite a bit more — even though many Labrador fans argue that reputable breeders should not ask more money for rarer coat colors. Speaking of, it is very important to purchase your Fox Red Lab puppy from a reputable breeder. Reputable breeders prioritize the health of their breeding dogs, their puppies, and the overall well-being of the breed. They also contribute less to the population of unwanted pets. If you are thinking of welcoming a Fox Red Lab into your home, then you are very likely to get a large and hardy dog that is incredibly loyal and gentle to all. Unfortunately, Jessup developed serious allergies to many different types of dog foods and ingredients when she was just a puppy. Meanwhile, Brody could eat seemingly anything and carry on as healthy as could be. Sarah spent hours of time researching and testing different foods and brands before finding something that worked for little Jessup. She wants Dog Food Care to simplify this experience for future dog-parents who face food allergy or tolerance issues of their own. In the next section, we will discuss training and socialization tips to ensure a well-rounded American Bully XL. A well-trained XL Bully will understand the boundaries of acceptable behavior, establishing a harmonious relationship with its owner and others around it. Additionally, proper socialization helps the dog become comfortable and secure around children, other dogs, and any visitors who come to your home, reducing the likelihood of dangerous behavior. To train and socialize your American Bully XL effectively, it is important to use positive reinforcement techniques and expose them to various environments and experiences early on in their life. This will help them develop into a well-rounded, confident, and friendly companion. In the following subsections, we will delve deeper into positive reinforcement techniques and socialization tips to ensure a successful training experience for both you and your XL Bully. Positive Reinforcement Techniques Positive reinforcement techniques, such as treats and praise, are highly effective in training your American Bully XL. These intelligent and eager-to-please dogs respond well to rewards, making them more likely to repeat desired behaviors. By rewarding your XL Bully for good behavior, you reinforce the bond between you and your dog while also encouraging them to continue displaying positive behaviors. Incentives such as treats can be used to motivate your XL Bully to perform specific actions, like sitting or staying. However, it is important to use healthy treats with low fat content, such as fruits and vegetables, to avoid overfeeding and potential weight gain. Creating a strong bond and trust between you and your dog through training sessions can be highly advantageous for your relationship, ensuring a well-behaved and happy companion, and reducing the risk of dog attacks, including fatal dog attacks. Socialization Tips Socialization is essential for the American Bully XL, starting with the breeder and continuing with safe, positive interactions with people, animals, and various environments. Additionally, enrolling in puppy classes can help with basic obedience training and socialization with other people and strange dogs. Feeding a high-quality diet, including raw or home-cooked options, ensures that your dog receives the necessary nutrients to maintain a healthy weight and support their muscular build. Additionally, regular physical activity helps to keep your XL Bully mentally stimulated and physically fit, reducing the likelihood of obesity and related health issues. In the following subsections, we will discuss the specific diet considerations for the American Bully XL and provide exercise ideas to keep your dog active and healthy. By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure that your XL Bully remains in optimal health and enjoys a long, happy life with you. This breed thrives on a diet rich in protein and fat, which supports their muscular build and provides the energy they need for daily activities. However, it is highly recommended to consult with a veterinarian before starting a raw or home-cooked diet to ensure that your XL Bully receives all the necessary nutrients. When providing nutrition to your American Bully XL, it is important to consider their age, activity level, and any health issues they may have. Here are some guidelines to follow: Puppies should be fed a specially formulated, nutrient-dense puppy food. Adults should consume a balanced diet designed for their size and weight. Avoid grain-based fillers in their food. Transition to adult dog food at approximately 12 months of age. Engaging in regular physical activity not only helps to keep your dog fit and prevent obesity, but it also provides mental stimulation, reducing the likelihood of boredom and destructive behavior. Some suggested activities for your XL Bully include: Walking Swimming Interactive play, such as fetch and tug of war In addition to these activities, you can also consider enrolling your XL Bully in agility classes or participating in dog sports, such as dock jumping or weight pulling. These activities provide an excellent opportunity for your dog to socialize with other dogs and people, while also keeping them mentally and physically engaged. Common issues include joint problems, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, and skin conditions, such as allergies, hot spots, eczema, and seborrhea. To ensure the well-being of your American Bully XL, it is important to monitor their health, provide a balanced diet and regular exercise, make regular visits to the vet for check-ups and vaccinations, and keep anti-parasite medications up to date. In the following subsections, we will discuss specific health concerns for the American Bully XL and provide preventative measures to help maintain their overall health and well-being. Joint Problems Joint problems, such as hip and elbow dysplasia, are common in XL Bullies and can be managed with proper care, including weight management and regular exercise. These genetic disorders can cause abnormal development of the hip and elbow joints, which may be painful and require surgery to be corrected. To effectively manage joint problems in XL Bullies, it is important to maintain a healthy weight, as excess weight can put additional strain on their joints. If you suspect your XL Bully is experiencing joint issues, consult with your veterinarian for a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. Skin Conditions Skin conditions, including allergies and hot spots, can affect the American Bully XL, requiring regular grooming and monitoring for signs of irritation. Common skin conditions in XL Bullies include: Demodicosis mites. Please do not mix the American Staffie with the much smaller and far less aggressive English Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Despite there notoriety they are still only a small amount of these dogs in the UK In the UK they have become the most sought-after breed of dog and are one of the most recent and most talked about of all the latest crossbreeds. These dogs are incredibly reactive and aggressive to both humans and dogs and almost any other animals. Aggression: Are XLs aggressive? This Bully dog is not afraid to socialise and meet new people. They are highly tolerant of children and strangers. I would imagine the gene pool in the UK is far smaller than in America. It could be that the writers of these glowing testaments are talking about the behaviour of their dogs and not the breed as a whole. Or they are looking through rose-tinted glasses, or they are lying. May I suggest all of those reasons are probably true? One of my specialities was in all types of aggression. I believe these dogs are over-reactive, stimulated by movement, distrustful of strangers and incredibly strong. I have assessed and been involved in numerous cases that have gone to court many I have assessed or defended in court showed the dog as not inherently aggressive. Unfortunately a number did. I have worked with every breed and crossbreed. I have never refused to assess or work with any type of dog breed over a period of 40 years, owning, handling, assessing and working with tens of thousands of them. Though I have retired now, this breed of dog is one I would totally refuse to work with, simply because of the danger to both humans and other dogs. I believe they are probably the most dangerous breed ever created and the following figures and statistics bear that statement out. Remember these are a new American breed and are particularly new to the UK. I would like to point out that these bully breeds were also bred for dog fighting and two of the main crosses in XL Bullys are the American Bulldog and the American Pitbull Terrier both commonly used. The tracking and protection part is to track and bring a man down. Dog Attacks and Deaths in the UK: Typically, there are less than 3 fatalities a year f In there were four deaths one was a young year-old boy called Jack Lis. However, in there was a massive leap in fatalities 10 people were killed, 6 of them killed by American XL Bullies and the 7th victim was by an American Bulldog. There have been six deaths already this year. One you may have read or heard about was a professional dog walker called Natasha Johnston. .As I was writing this article the Police issued an update saying she was killed by her own dog. Why did the police put the Cane Corso in as a cross when they are often used to create the XL Bully in the first place? The dog was described as a large bulldog-type breed and was believed to be a banned breed. The sixth death was two Rottweillers once again Mastiff Breeds. Conclusion: Think for just a minute about those facts and statistics, The majority of the fatalities including children as young as 17 months were caused by one breed of dog that is new and fairly rare in this country. People are buying them as family pets on the glowing approbation of the breeders in America. The majority were psychologically and temperamentally sound. I actually felt that the Dangerous Dogs Act was flawed from the outset and despite tinkering it is still unfit for purpose. .Genetics is just one part of the equation. Having said that, I believe what they have done with the American XL Bully is to create a dog that is so dangerous that the general public should never be allowed to breed or own one. For once in my life I believe that something drastic must be done to curb this ultra-aggressive and hyper-reactive breed. Put a ban on the breeding and selling of these dogs in all parts of the UK and start educating the general public on how to raise a well-rounded and safe dog when they first get a puppy. Most people especially during lockdown on a whim without any research or knowledge on how dogs think or learn. Most dogs are not socialised or trained enough during that first week period. I watched a Netflix series called Unnatural Selection In the series, a dog breeder, a totally untrained layman working as an oil field technician was experimenting with genetics and altering the DNA of dogs. His own dogs were mainly American XL Bully-type dogs and he had a lot of them. He was buying DNA manipulation kits so as to speed up the dramatic changes that people wanted in this breed of dog. He artificially inseminated and extracted semen from his dogs he was experimenting to make rapid genetic changes in his animals. The man in question lives in Mississippi USA. Perhaps he or someone else succeeded? If so that could explain the sudden dramatic climb in fatal attacks from these XL Bully Breeds. It has now been reported that the XL American Bully dogs in the UK are times more likely to kill than any other dog breed, according to a new analysis of public data. What I am concerned about is whatever happened created a Frankenstein monster of a dog. Legislation is urgently required before many more children, adults, and dogs are killed. The problem with the XL Bullies their aggression is not related to socialisation, though that can exacerbate the problem. The real concern is their powerful genetic disposition for predatory and reactive aggression. These dogs were bred to fight and attack. They are the type of dogs that were used in Bull and Bear Baiting, and dog fighting, They also hark back to the famous dogs of war used by the Romans to create their empire and of course to invade Britain. Has anyone heard anything from the Government about this problem? I have been saying this on TV and Radio for the last 6 months. Neither DEFRA nor the Government has uttered a word about the fact that In the last 3 years, the vast majority of deaths have been caused by one specific breed. I also have a petition regarding Dog Theft it has , signatures The Government promised to change the law nearly two years ago. Has it been done has the severity of the sentencing changed and have they changed the charge from stolen property like a laptop or mobile to abducting a family pet and sentient animal with all that entails? You can guess the answer. See below for a link to the petition. I think this article is important enough to share on all media platforms. Some of the media platforms are shown below. Dog domestic dog The American Bully is a modern breed of dog that was developed as a companion dog , and originally standardized and recognized as a breed in by the American Bully Kennel Club ABKC. Their published breed standard describes the dog as giving the "impression of great strength for its size". Temperament in adult dogs is very much dependent on training, and the breed can be very demanding and needs to be properly trained. Due to the size and strength of the American Bully, legal controls on the ownership of the breed exist in several countries. History The American Bully, as it is now known, began development in the s with the majority of the final behavioral and aesthetic product being completed in the s. Eventually, enough breeders agreed that these dogs were disparate enough from American Pit Bull Terriers that it warranted them admitting that they were a different breed altogether. According to the ABKC, the initial desire for this breed was to produce a dog with a lower prey drive and more of the "bully" traits and characteristics than the American Staffordshire Terrier. Mass and heavy bone was prioritized to ensure such a look, and due to this many of the dogs shown today display the wide front for which they were originally bred. All these varieties are expected to follow the same standard with minor alterations. Standard Standard type in side view The standard American Bully type is a medium-sized dog with a compact bulky muscular body, heavy bone structure and blocky head. Male dogs must be 17 to 20 in 43 to 51 cm , while females must be 16 to 19 in 41 to 48 cm. Pocket A pocket American Bully The "pocket" type is a smaller variant, with full-grown males under 17 inches 43 cm , but no less than 14 inches 36 cm , at the withers and females under 16 inches 41 cm , but no less than 13 inches 33 cm , at the withers. XL Champion XL American Bully Stud An XL type is determined by its adult height, with males between 21 inches 53 cm and 23 inches 58 cm at the withers and females between 19 inches 48 cm and 22 inches 56 cm at the withers. Classic The classic is a lighter-framed dog than the standard, but falls within the same height range. Smaller dogs are sometimes called "Micro", and larger ones are called "XXL", but neither are recognized by the kennel clubs as legitimate varieties. Temperament The American Bully is a highly adaptable and trainable breed. Human aggression is discouraged in breed standards; however, a level of dog aggression is characteristic of the breed. Cherry eye , ectropion , and entropion are often seen affecting the eyes, while brachycephalic respiratory syndrome can be seen in the shorter muzzled dogs. He stated that the dogs' bite caused crushing and shredding injuries which shred skin and break bones, carrying particular risk of irreparable nerve damage. The dog, an American Bully, had been bought as a family pet one week previously. The dog, one of a pair, weighed lb 89 kg. If the dog has not been trained to stop it won't stop. The dog weighed more than the victim and standing up it would have been at face height on its hind legs. After a forensic veterinary report, the American XL Bully, believed to have been responsible for Johnston's death, was euthanised following the attack. In response, Detective Chief Inspector John Davies said: "Greater Manchester Police officers searched two houses and seized 15 dogs six adults and nine puppies believed to be the same breed as that which attacked Jonathan. It was reported that there were concerns within Defra , the government department responsible for administering the Dangerous Dogs Act, over the practicality of a ban. The American Bully was the second most commonly seized breed, with 73 dogs seized. Prior to , no seizures of American Bullies were reported. In the first five months of the force had seized 44 American bullies, almost three times the next most common breed, the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, of which 16 had been seized. It must be muzzled and on a lead no longer than 2 metres 6 ft 7 in when in public amongst other requirements. They are very gentle and loving toward other animals and especially people. Good tempered, well mannered, extremely loyal and an affectionate family member. Mostly obedient, this dog wants nothing more than to please its human. The XL American Bully is well known for having a high tolerance for kids and an overwhelming eagerness to please its love ones. Confident, yet not aggressive, XL Bully possesses a great temperament. Physically, they have an impressive strapping build, which is both muscular and defined. They display great strength, durability, and agility. Bully Temperament It is safe to say that although this breed possesses an impressive stature, with defined muscles and a strong build, they are very, very sweet hearted and have a soft temperament. Many people believe the American Bully is simply a type of pit-bull this is false and is a common misconception towards this breed. Overall, the XL American Bully is a well-rounded, reliable, trustworthy and ideal family member mans best-friend. The XL American Bully needs an owner who is firm with a lot of patience, that's very confident, and very consistent. Always let them know whats expected of them; give rules and guidelines to follow to what they are and are not allowed to do. Establish yourself as the pack leader as dogs are naturally instinctively inclined to follow in that order. A Pit bull and American Bully are two distinct dog breeds. They also love attention, and are definitely massive affection givers, so you can expect tons and tons of licks, kisses and head tilts. They are known for being an extremely adaptable breed who are both playful and caring, this makes them an exceptional addition to families with children. The American Bully is known to be the loyalist of the many dog breeds, adding to the many reasons for why they make the perfect family pet. They range from 24 to 27 inches in height and weigh anywhere from pounds to pounds, both male and female. They can pack on size and weight very fast, so I recommend to not overfeed them and to let them grow gradually so that their bones fuse together properly. This dog was first bred in the s. The American Kennel Club does not recognize this dog breed. Their temperament has been selectively bred to produce a dog with a soft and mellow personality. They are kind, loving and gentle towards family members and do well in homes with or without kids. The appearance of this pooch closely resembles a Pitbull dog. The Bully requires 30 to 60 minutes of exercise each day. Your puppy comes with all the paperwork, health records, and a small bag of food. Very attentive and particular with their dogs and the puppies that they place. Collin Shafer One of the best breeders in town! Fantastic experience and breeder! In addition to altering base coat color, merle also modifies eye color and coloring on the nose and paw pads. The merle gene occasionally changes dark eyes to blue, or part of the eye to be colored blue. Responsible breeders who want to produce merle puppies mate a merle with a non-merle dog; and none will have the vision or hearing defects associated with double merle dogs. Some of our dogs are available world-wide, and some are only available within the USA or only available outside of the USA. This can change at any time, so please check back at any time to see the current status. A tri carrier dog is a dog that doesn't show tan points, but can produce dogs that do. A great example of a tri-carrier dog is Triple Champion King Louii. King Louii is a lilac colored dog, and does not show any tri colors at all. But if King Louii is bred to a female that is tri, they can produce full tri-colored puppies. Tri Carrier means a dog has a single copy of the Tan Point trait heterozygous. We are looking for genetic defects within our dogs that could be passed down to their puppies. Within our program, you will see 2 different results. CRD4 is an eye condition that originated with long-haired Dachshunds, and is very common within our breed. It is estimated that over half of our breed has at least 1 trait. We wrote up an article on it, so please click below to learn more! COIs also track how related dogs are further back in the pedigree. Look back 10 generations in our own family trees and you are very unlikely to see the same name twice. This is not true for dogs, though. The same names can appear many, many times.

Now you just need to find the right breeder to ensure that new puppy is healthy, happy, and ready to join your family. There are a few factors you should take into account when looking for the best French bulldog breeders. Here are some things you should consider: AKC Registration The AKC American Kennel Club is an organization that educates about the health and wellbeing of dogs, alongside advocating for responsible ownership. They take being a dog owner seriously, raising massive amounts of money for health research studies into the top diseases suffered by dogs. Many breeders will have their puppies AKC registered to guarantee that they're purebred, so be sure to ask about it when learning more about breeders you're considering adopting from. Genetic Health Issues A major concern when adopting dogs, purebred or not, is that they may be vulnerable to genetic health issues. Genetic health issues like hip dysplasia, heart disease, and epilepsy can be devastating, but adopting from a great breeder can save you the heartache later on. Be sure to ask breeders if they're conscious of these issues while breeding, and if they safely DNA test their pups to ensure that they're clear of these genetic health issues. Socialization Puppies should stay with their mother, littermates and breeder for eight weeks before joining a new family. While this may vary depending on the breed, eight weeks is what's healthy for a French bulldog puppy. If a breeder is allowing puppies to be adopted before then, that may be a red flag that they're not following industry best practices. Those eight weeks are crucial for a young puppy to develop their social skills with their littermates. If a puppy isn't socialized before joining a new family, they may experience unneeded distress and have difficulty interacting with other dogs. They could also be difficult to train. A Happy, Humane Environment When choosing a breeder, it should be your top priority to ensure that your new puppy is coming from a place where they're treated with respect and affection. The breeding profession is largely composed of dog lovers, but there's always going to be people who are willing to mistreat their puppies to increase their profits. Family-oriented businesses are usually a safe bet. This doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be run by a family, but are the puppies treated as if they were already in their forever homes? Are they given lots of love and attention? Are they kept apart from each other and always in distress? Cruelty has no place in breeding programs. Negligent practices only result in hurt and poorly adjusted puppies. The health and happiness of these pups is our top priority, and we're proud to be their home until you come to get them! Deb is very knowledgeable about the breed and her attention to details regarding their health really impressed us. Deb made the entire process seamless, and Blanche is the most perfect little lady. When the time comes to add to our own family we will definitely be calling Deb! I found Deb and from day one, she was always there to answer any questions. She was just a pleasure and always helpful! We purchased and picked up LUlu, our new wonderful addition to our family. She is so smart and has an absolutely amazing disposition. Everywhere I go with her, I get stopped, people always comment that she is the most beautiful frenchie ever even my vet! We cannot wait to get a second frenchie from Deb! Michelle We came across Deb while we were searching for our first frenchie. We contacted Deb and spoke on the phone for about an hour and a half during our first phone call. She was super supportive, informative and incredibly helpful in providing advice. She also asked us questions to make sure we were the right fit and if we would provide a safe environment for the frenchie. We got to meet Uniii through Facetime and we immediately fell in love with him at first sight. We were so impressed with Deb's knowledge about this breed, her love and passion for each and everyone of them. Whenever we had questions, Deb would answer back right away and would give us tips which has helped us tremendously. When we take Uniii out and about, people are always so impressed with how calm and good temperament he is. Uniii is super friendly and loves to be around people. He loves learning new tricks, in fact, he is so smart that I was able to teach him basic commands like 'paw' and 'sit' at 6 months. He is so easy, mellow and chill to take care of, that we are thinking of getting him another sibling for him. It will definitely be through Deb again. Thank you so much to Bijou French Bulldogs for providing us with our very first frenchie fur baby. Feel free to follow our pup on IG as well and reach out if you have any questions uniiiboiii Venus As first time dog owners, we did a lot of research before settling on a breeder. When we came across Bijou French Bulldogs and spoke to Deb, we knew we found the one. We could have gone with a number of breeders much closer to home but the decision to go the distance was extremely worth it! Deb's knowledge of the breed, care for the animals, and beautiful dogs are unmatched. She was extremely response throughout the whole process. Our beautiful girl is now 1. Our vet always comments on how well bred she was and how great it is to see a Frenchie without breathing problems. If I ever wanted another Frenchie I would definitely go back to Deb and recommend her to anyone looking for their new best friend! He is really an extraordinary dog who has made our lives so much better. Since I am now a French bulldog owner, I am more aware of other French bulldogs and can appreciate the superb breeding strategies that Debbie practices in her business. While I know that everyone thinks their dog is the best, I can objectively say that his form is perfection, from tail to ears. Not always the case with this breed, as we all know. We get stopped everywhere and people just cannot get enough of NiRAN. He is another great example of a gorgeous Frenchie in the making, and NiRAN loves to play with his new cousin. Thanks to Bijou French Bulldogs, we have our own little best friend who loves to snooze, snack, and play! Marina Deb is an absolutely pleasure and a dream come true to work with! She is hands on from beginning to getting your furbaby but even afterwards she is still involved. The furbabies she develops are all beautiful and healthy. If we could buy more we sure would!! Our experience has been amazing ever step of the way. We highly recommend her! Call me if you need to discuss Denise Denise Deb!!! Such a pleasure to share a testimonial. You can use the pic I just barely sent above? Deb was such an incredible person to work with to find our new family member. With a previous frenchie crossing the rainbow bridge we were feeling super nervous trying to find a reputable breeder that would be willing to answer lots of questions and truly help us though what was both an emotional and exciting process. She was endlessly available and highly engaged in our efforts to understand how to best match her upcoming litters with our interest. You can tell she cares so deeply about the health and wellness of each one of these little nuggets she helps bring into the world and even more, really looks to build a relationship and keep in touch with her puppies families. We feel so fortunate to have found Deb and our little fur baby! Jayme Mellisa Testimonial: Deb is a wonderful, caring and responsible breeder and we are so happy to have found her when looking for our 3rd Frenchie. It is clear she cares deeply for not only her pups but the breed in general. Wellington aka Welly exhibits all the qualities we love about frenchies - affectionate, curious and social. He is a healthy and confident pup with the sweetest disposition. From my 1st inquiry to picking up Welly, working with Deb has been an easy, seamless process. We are so happy to have found Bijou French Bulldogs and for the joy that Welly has brought to all of us! Mellisa M. By absolute fate, Deb came into our lives. Our family had just been told by another breeder one we worked with for our 9 year old frenchie that the puppy we put a deposit on, was no longer available, with absolutely no communication or reason. Our entire family was heartbroken, especially our two children. Out of desperation, I did a quick google search and stumbled upon Bijou French Bulldogs. After reading the testimonials, I sent a message to Deb to which she replied almost immediately We scheduled a facetime meeting for the next evening. The conversation was fluid and seamless. This also gave her the opportunity to see where the puppy would live which brought her comfort as well. Throughout the entire process Deb was communicative and transparent, something we had not experienced with any other breeder. For example, a few days before we were scheduled to pick up the puppy, Deb called and said the puppy was at the vet, as she was not eating or drinking overnight. I need to get her better first. She also sent us the medical paperwork and note from the vet, she was extremely thorough. Although we were disappointed with the temporarily delay, we respected that Deb was acting solely out of her care and love for the puppy. After pushing the pickup day back, a week, my husband drove to pick up Carmella. We brought Carmella home to meet our two children, and our 9-year-old French Bulldog, Dutchess. Deb was knowledgeable about how to introduce Carmella to our family. To no surprise, Deb was on point! During the first few weeks of having Carmella at home we would reach out to Deb with questions, pictures or just updates. Deb, completely consistent with how she treated us throughout the entire process was communicative, transparent, and helpful. Her knowledge for this breed is unrivaled by any other breeder we have experienced. Growing up with English bulldogs, and French bulldogs myself, I have never experienced a more thorough and responsible breeder. If you are looking for a breeder who puts quality care into her pups, will be communicate with you during every step of the process, and patiently answer all of your questions and concerns, then Bijou French Bulldogs is for you. Carmella fits in perfectly with our family, and we have Deb and her outstanding program to thank. Amy Debbie is a very responsible breeder caring for each pup individually and the whole litter. Debbie always makes herself available for any questions you may have before during and after your purchase. I Purchased Mr. Quinn in March of and never looked back. He is beautiful kind, and funny. He has such expression in his face. Everyone who meets Mr. Quinn falls in love with him. He is a real character with lots of charm. He gets along well with my other dogs. Quinn loves to travel and we are attending breed handling classes hoping to enter the show ring in the near future so Mr. Quinn can put his swagger on and hopefully come home with a few ribbons. Glenna We love our sweet little Gizmo. Thank you Deborah for helping us pick the perfect match for our beloved 5 year old frenchie. Gizmo is strong, loving, sweet and wants to be just like his big brother! Deb was easy to work with, very professional and takes excellent care of her puppies. Olive came to me trained on puppy pads with the sweetest and most kind temperament you could ever want from a French bulldog. Olive was already socialized and great with other dogs. Especially as first time dog owners it is crucial to have a breeder you can trust. Deb went above and beyond making sure my wife and I felt comfortable and ready to buy a puppy. Further to that she was always available to us for any questions we had to help guide us through the first few months and beyond of raising our puppy. She answered all of our questions and showed us the litter of adorable puppies, the mom and their whelping area. Even after we took our adorable pup home, she still checked in on her and responded to any questions we had. Poppy is a happy, healthy and sometimes sassy LOL pup and we are so happy with her! Finding a reliable preservation breeder was of high importance to us and we feel so lucky to have stumbled onto the BiJou French Bulldogs website one day. From the start, Deb has been a great communicator which really helped us feel at ease throughout the process of getting a pup. It is clear how much she loves her pups and cares about the families they go to. .Butaro is our first dog and our pride and joy! He is the sweetest pup and loves meeting new people and people love meeting him! He has brought so much joy into our lives and also came housebroken, which was a big and pleasant surprise as first-time dog owners! If you are looking to bring a french bulldog into you family, we highly recommend Deb and BiJou Frenchies - they are the best at what they do, you will not regret it! Stephanie C Easy experience from the beginning to end. Deb got back to me quickly about the last available pup. Communication was a breeze and we were able to agree to a pickup location that was convenient for both of us. Lola came with all her shots and chip information. We love Lola so much and are very happy we were able to bring her home last February. She was very professional. She was very knowledgeable about the breed and answered all my questions. It was such a great experience that I also purchased a puppy for my daughter. I take Paris to work with me everyday and the residents at the skilled nursing facility where I work love her. She is calm, friendly and well behaved. Joy B My puppy, mochi, is absolutely perfect! She is healthy, beautiful and so full of love! I could not be more grateful. In addition, Deb has been very helpful and is there to answer any questions I may have. Margaret C Our family has been researching various breeds of dogs and felt that the French Bulldog would best suit our family. Over this past summer, we have had the pleasure of working with Deb Knowlton of Bijou French Bulldog. We came across her website and became even more intrigued about the French Bulldog. From the first time we came into contact with Ms. Knowlton, she has truly demonstrated many qualities of professionalism and passion for the work that she does. She was always available to answer any questions we had via text or email in a promptly manner. When the time came to pickup our Frenchie, the process was fairly simple. Knowlton welcomed us into her home and gave her undivided attention to discuss all the information we needed to best care for our dog. Luna was already chipped, vaccinated and examined by a qualified veterinarian. Today, Luna is doing well and continues to bring such joy to our family. Dom M This year we added a second Frenchie from Deb to our family. We could not be happier with the disposition of our pup Levi and he has been a great addition.Deb took the time to identify a perfect match to our existing Frenchie and both are thriving. Deb is always available for questions during and after the entire process and makes sure that both parents and puppies are happy for years to come. Rebecca W Deb made the process of selecting the right Frenchie easy and fun. Just before the pandemic when we visited Deb to choose our puppy, she let the mother audition us as owners and we really hit it off. When we went back to the pen, the littlest puppy approached us and that was it. Love at first sight. Yasmin is a happy, healthy, self-confident puppy who brings joy to us every day. Bijou French Bulldogs is the best! Yolanda S We looked for the right breeder for our frenchie for awhile, and as soon as we met Deb, we could feel how much care, knowledge, and respect for this breed that she brings. We knew she would be the perfect choice for one of the most important in our lives! Fiona is beautiful, and exhibits all the best qualities of a well bred frenchie— she is super healthy, active, social, and the most friendly temperament. We won the lottery with Fiona and we know that deb had a huge part in making this possible. From the start, Deb took the time to share her knowledge on the breed, their characteristics, and her process. We knew immediately that we had an expert in Deb, and someone who loves and cares for her animals. Minka is the most loving, playful, silly, and all around best dog. She has completely exceeded our expectations, and everyone who meets her falls in love with her. As with most dog lovers we will go to extremes for our dogs, and to say we spoil them in an understatement. We put a great deal of time into investigating the breeders of our dogs and this was especially true for Tucker. This was a journey that took us to visit and meet several Frenchie breeders all who had a love of this wonderful breed. Along this journey we came to meet Deb of Bijou French Bulldogs. Immediately upon meeting Deb and visiting with her we realized Deb was truly special. From the time we picked up Tucker Deb has remained in touch with us and offered advice and support. Tucker is a healthy and absolutely beautiful puppy that has a wonderful personality, his coloring and disposition was exactly what Deb had said it would be. Linda L We are a dog-loving family, but, almost exclusively, we have been Lab owners. While we were all in the house for the pandemic, we realized that this would be a great time to get a puppy. However, this time my daughter asked if we could get a smaller dog that could sit in her lap easier , and that she could take with her more easily than she can the larger labs. Not having explored the smaller dog world before, we did a bit of digging into what breeds of small dogs would fit into our lives, and we determined that the French Bulldog was the way to go. I began my research into finding a pup, and I quickly learned a few things: 1. Rescue French Bulldog puppies are hard to impossible to find, 2. Frenchies are a significant investment and 3. I looked for quite some time, and began discussions with more than a few breeders. Some of the breeders were excellent, but many were not. It began to remind me of puppy milling of labradors we have encountered so many times in the past. Lots of discussion about designer colors on web sites, but little about breeding philosophy. On the day that I sent her a quick note looking to connect, Deb called me. During that first phone call I asked her with questions about her kennel, her breeding philosophy, and overall questions about Frenchies and how well a puppy would fit in our house. Deb enthusiastically engaged in that discussion with passion, and I knew this was a person who I wanted to work with. I was particularly concerned with breathing issues that these dogs so often has, and Deb was able to answer all of these questions with with ease and details since she has a deep experience in breeding Frenchies, and loves to do it. She very purposefully and knowledgeably sets up her breeding program based on a lot of data, not just a pedigree. She has a fantastic working knowledge of genetics, and tracks her dogs health so well that she can use this data to produce great litters. Her process is impressive. We were able to give Deb our criteria about the kind of dog we were looking for, and what we were not. She immediately spoke about future litters she was planning that would fit our needs. I fully expected to have to wait up at least 6 months for a puppy, but we were able to get a puppy sooner than that. We got Millie, a beautiful Fawn with tons of red accents. She is smaller in size, just as we like, and Deb told us that with her intensity gene, that her coloring was going to be stunning. She was absolutely right. Millie has been an amazing addition to our family, and even keeps up with our labs! Her alert spirit commands the room, and at the same time, she is loving and sweet. Her temperament could not be better. We love that she is a pretty puppy, but more important to looks, her health and temperament are paramount. However, the best testimonial that I can provide comes from the days following Millie home-coming. We took this beautiful 5 lb puppy to the vet for a wellness visit, and during the exam, the vet turned to me and said that she had no concerns about breathing or palate issues with this puppy, and that I should commend Deb for a beautifully bred dog - the best she has seen in years. If you are searching for Frenchies, and are considering Bijou, rest assured that you are in excellent hands and paws Sean D Once my family had decided it was time to get a dog I knew we needed a smaller one, who would bond with the whole family. I have always had dogs, large and small. My last one was an American bulldog, Rottweiler mix, we rescued at 6 weeks old, whom I loved. After researching the qualities we settled on a French Bulldog. I was excited my husband, who wanted a larger Pit Bull less than. There are so many breeders on the internet and 90 percent of them left me feeling like it was a business. Some I down right worried about the animals in their care. What I loved about Deb was the level of time and care she put into her animals. As a nurse I appreciated the commitment to health and socialization she gave for what I knew would be my newest child. I have two with two legs and now Nas, our Frenchie and Mashugana our Bengal cat to make two on four legs. We have only had him since September but he is adored by our whole family. My husband within a week was proudly telling everyone Nas was just what he wanted and now six months later is trying to get me to agree to a second. The vet was so impressed with his health, everyone who meets him talks about how smart he is. I have never had a dog more willing to love on everyone he meets. If we do decide to expand our family again we will be contacting Deb. She truly has a passion for what she does and the joy she brings to families. She was honest, professional, and very caring about us and our puppy. She is always willing to help with any questions, promptly responds and cares deeply for the pups, doing all she can to best prepare them for life with their new family. She is confident and does not get easily stressed. She is also very well socialized. Luna is the perfect example of what a Frenchie should be like. She is social, accepting, very friendly, and a quick learn… she has far exceeded my expectations! From our initial phone call to when I picked Baxter up, Deb and Shelley were knowledgeable, communicative and very clear that their top priority is the health and well-being of their dogs. Not only is Baxter the most beautiful Frenchie I have ever seen, but he also has the best temperament - he is sweet, playful, friendly with all dogs, people and children, snuggly, loyal - I could go on and on. Baxter and I can hardly make it two feet on the street without getting stopped - people come out of stores and restaurants to meet him. I will definitely get a second puppy from them sometime, hopefully in the near future. Not only Is Dexter healthy and happy but he has the perfect personality that could only have come from great parents fur and human. Shelly and Deb are phenomenal, educated us and made the whole process exciting and comfortable. Their continued support and love since we picked Dexter up is amazing. We already have and would continue to recommend them as breeders. K Stoltzfus Deb and Shelly are not only two of the nicest most helpful, honest and knowledgeable people, they treat their dogs like their family and will be there to help with any advice you need even after you bring your puppy home. Our boy, Xander, is smart, funny and full of love, hugs and licks. I was in such shock I think I must have mentioned it to everyone who asked how our visit went. She's healthy, happy, intelligent and the most affectionate pup I've ever met. We brought her home in August at 14 weeks and she has truly completed our family!! I was looking to add a french bulldog to our family, and from the onset they were absoltely helpful. This was the first time I was researching and interested in the breed, and they were very helpful in educating me along the process. They were very responsive and answered all of my e-mails and I send a lot! They truly love thier dogs, which is evident, and take pride and care in what they do. I look forward to the day we are able to grow our family even further and hope to have the opportunity to work with them again! J LaRocco Owning a French bulldog was a dream of mine for about 10 years before it became a reality. I always loved the look of the breed but after careful research I knew if I ever purchased one I would need to find a reputable breeder. I asked around, did some Google searches and scoured Facebook for contact information. I had been talking to another breeder when I found Deb and Shelly. I immediately sent in an interest form and Deb called me within a day or so. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about her dogs and why they were superior to the others. And after speaking with the other breeders I could compare them all and it was abundantly clear who I'd be getting my next furbaby from! Health testing was very important to us and Deb has done a wonderful job of making sure that her puppies are free of genetic and other disorders. Penny Lane came to us in Sept and has been such an awesome addition to our crew. She has the sweetest temperament. She's very smart. And she has these amazing brown eyes that look at you so lovingly you just have to give her pets or a treat! She's been a wonderful companion to me and our other dog. I highly recommend speaking with Deb and Shelly if you are searching for a Frenchie. You will not be disappointed! B Smassanow Deb and Shelly were absolutely wonderful to work with. We did a lot of research on Frenchie breeders in the New York area and luckily came across Beautibuls. From the first conversation with Deb we knew they were the ones we wanted to go with. They were extremely knowledgable and were so happy to share their expertise with us. We visited Deb and Shelly early on in the process and they showed us many puppies they were all equally adorable! She is healthy, happy, full of personality and absolutely stunning! After we took her home, they were reachable at any time which really helped us settle in as new puppy parents. We receive endless compliments of how well she represents the ideal French Bulldog breed. She is perfection! We cannot wait to extend our Frenchie family and will absolutely be giving Deb and Shelly a call when we are ready. We did a lot of research before we settled on to getting a puppy from them. They are respected breeders by other French bulldog breeders and that was an important consideration for us. Deb and Shelly have been great in giving us advice and answering our questions on every aspect of raising a healthy and happy puppy from feeding, toilet training and teaching good habits. Their advice and involvement in raising Louis have been invaluable to us. Louis is now a 16 months old happy, smart , sweet and strong young adult dog. He is completely house broken in and has his routines and has become a loving family member. Our two children love Louis like a brother. We highly recommend Debbie and Shelly and the Beautibul puppies. YKW and family. Y Waite "Fred and I give Beautibuls a 6 star out of 5 star review"! Looking back at all the disappointment from other breeders, it was a blessing in disguise to find Beautibuls and become part of their extended Frenchie family! I filled out the online application and heard back within a few hours. Beautibuls have changed my perception of what a great experience purchasing a puppy can be! I was instantly drawn to the pair, Deb and Shelly. If we ever add another Frenchie to our family it will be a Beautibuls Frenchie"! S Kibbe We are the very proud owners of 3 French Bulldogs. I was referred to Deb and Shelly by a breeder I had purchased my last little girl from as she did not have what I was looking for at the time. My experience with them was great. We spoke at length about what I was looking for in a pup as we were adding a 3rd and wanted the dynamics to work. Randal is a pied boy he is about 8 months old now and really filling out beautifully. He was housebroken in 6 months which is record breaking for my Frenchies. He is very sweet, and lovable with a great personality. Deb and Shelly were extremely accommodating and I have enjoyed sharing Randal's milestones with them. They have a top notch breeding program and take great pride in what they do. I would not hesitate to recommend Beautibuls to anyone looking for an amazing dog. I am one of the Beautibuls. I am named after my frenchy dad Dominic but I look just like my frenchy mom Senka. My mom is Gale. She tells me she loves me because I am sweet and a good snuggler. My dad says he loves me because of my good health which means no vet bills! My frenchy sister Giada is not a Beautibul we still love her and she had some large vet bills as a puppy. Grammies Shelly and Deb made sure that did not happen to me. Dad is also proud of how fast I was able to train him to hold me and give me lots of love. Our puppy Bowie is a playful, smart, happy, and loving pup. Being a part of the extended Beautibuls family is a wonderful place to be. I had to fill out online applications amid fighting back the tears, getting over losing our little pied gal. We got Lola from a breeder in Australia when we lived there 10 years prior, so we had no connections with US breeders. Some breeders never replied, some were short, but Deb emailed us back right away and even set up a call with us the very next day to find out about our situation and our ability to care for one of her pups. As luck would have it, we ended up with our handsome Louie very soon after we spoke with Deb. We were a bit nervous about having a new puppy so close to our loss, but he was the blast of sunshine that our family needed. Louie is energetic, smart and healthy, with a great temperament and he has the whole neighborhood suckered into playing fetch with him. We brought our puppy home last August and Deb and Shelly have been there every step of the way with any questions we may have had. Or little boy has been a perfect fit with our other two dogs and has an awesome temperament! He's the best. Every time I show co-workers they always ask " Where did you get him from". Our vet said he's never seen a puppy so prefect. With that said we are blessed to have a Beautibuls dog in our family. I don't want to forget how great of a dog he is as well. We have another Frenchie and we see the difference. Thanks again for the best meatball ever. Couldn't picture life without our Tyson" Kevin F "My husband and I purchased our first Frenchie from Beautibuls and we could not be happier. Knowing that this was our first the breeders were so knowledgeable and helpful. We are completely in love with this little guy. Although we chose not to show him, he is our Grand Champion!!! We will defiantly be back for a second puppy". Lisa T "Henry is such a sweet soul. He loves to snuggle up on your lap but he's also very playful. His wobble wag giggle ball is his favorite toy - he just loves chasing it around the house. He's super friendly with everyone and loves playing with other dogs. People ask me all the time where I got him because he's so adorable!! He makes me so happy every day"!! He's a puppy from your very first litter and has been such a joy in my life. You have helped guide me in the show ring and are always there for any questions I may have. Thank You Ladies!!! Lori H Enchanted Bulldogs It was a pleasure engaging with Deb - she was very helpful and informative throughout the process. Achilles, our puppy, was healthy and has immediately become one of the family. Also, Deb has been helpful after we took Achilles home with us. I highly recommend them as breeders. Steve D "I have been an ecstatic and exceedingly happy Beautibulls Frenchie Mommy to 2 beautiful, happy and healthy frenchies, Mimosa and Madeline Maddie since the minute I brought them home!! In addition to being a beautiful dog, her disposition was friendly and loving to me, my friends, my cats, and the dogs in the Park! She often gave THEM - most of whom were much bigger - a run for their money, and tuckered them out from play way before she was ready to call it quits!! Anyway, they're pretty funny when that all comes out, but they are truly NOT that helpful!! They are both cuddlers, lickers, and lovers - just wanting to be around mom, and in mornings and evenings even view the kitties as fellow cuddle buddies! Mimosa will be 5 at Christmas and Maddie will be 2 at the end of this month. Neither has had any health issues, and any concerns or questions that I had when I first brought them home Shelly and Deb were eager to answer. Similarly before I committed to buying one and joining their "family", I was very curious about the breeding and whelping processes, and besides being incredibly interesting, they helped me understand how and why my girls were going to be as healthy as they were. My first 3 dogs were big dogs - 2 bullmastiffs and 85 lb boxer lab and I adored them completely. I miss them dearly as well, but I am so so so happy with my 20 lb frenchies - they might be smaller in size, but not smaller in heart or energy levels and I'll never go back! As a matter of fact, I have notified Beautibulls of my desire to get another one, so if that's not a positive reference, I don't know what is!! I could not possibly recommend Beautibulls more highly!! Thank you Deb and Shelly!!! Our hearts were forever broken and we soon realized that that the only thing nearly as sad as losing our bully, was the emptiness we felt without having a dog to share our lives with. Knowing the breed well, we set out on a quest to find a reputable breeder. It was a very long journey but we were determined, and health and temperament were our top priorities. As time went on we developed a keen interest in Frenchies — and we were ever so fortunate to have come across the Beautibuls website. It made us so very hopeful - not only were the photos of their dogs beautiful, but they were so healthy and accomplished. We reached out and to our surprise not only did we get a prompt response, but it was such a pleasure to speak with Deb who dedicated a great deal of time to listen to our story, and talk to us about their breeding program. She was so knowledgeable and patient with us in answering all of our questions. Deb and Shelly made the process so smooth and were and still are! Luigi has been nothing short of amazing from day 1. He came to us so well socialized — we remember being so surprised at how quickly and confidently he settled right in… sleeping right through from his first night onwards! He steals the show in his training classes, loves his skateboard and is an emotional support dog. The breed is small and muscular with heavy bone structure, a smooth coat, a short face, and trademark "bat" ears. Many of my dogs are Champions and Grand Champions, producing incredible babies. My dogs are health tested to guarantee all puppies live a long and happy life! We produce all of the brindles in black, blue, chocolate, lilac , fawns and sables in golden, red, blue, chocolate, lilac , creams, pure coats and tan points in black, blue, chocolate, lilac , and pieds in ALL of these beautiful colors! As a reminder to each of our Waiting List clients who have passed on prior puppies due to poor timing, when you are ready for your puppy, please let us know so we do not bypass your name when we are placing new litters.
