We adopt doodles to families that will keep them as inside pets and treat them as family members. We do not adopt to families who are specifically looking for a doodle to train as a service dog. Since the majority of rescue dogs do not meet service dog requirements, this is an unfair expectation of our doodles. We also do not adopt doodles to be given as gifts. We do not permit commercial transport of our dogs, and all adopters are required to personally take their new family member home. If you adopt a doodle from us, it is important to note that rescue dogs typically require leash and other training. Your doodle may keep you up nights, have potty accidents, and other inconveniences for the first couple of weeks. We can't possibly know everything about the health or behavior of any dog in our care. You bear the responsibility of choosing to adopt your dog. If for any reason you are unable to keep your doodle, you are required to contact the California Doodle Rescue. If you are found to be a possible match for one of our doodles, you will be contacted directly by someone from California Doodle Rescue. If contacted, please be prepared for a required phone interview, contacting your references, and or veterinarian checks. Part of our adoption process requires an in-person meet and greet between the doodle and the entire household, including pets of the potential adopting family. If a home visit is not possible, you may be asked to send photos of your home and yard. Goldendoodles weigh up to 90 pounds when fully grown and are the largest breed that we offer. A Labradoodle is a cross between a full-bred Labrador retriever and a poodle, giving them many of the personality traits of a Labrador retriever. They get their hypoallergenic coats from their poodle side. Their temperament and energy make them an ideal choice for families that have children. A Labradoodle likes to explore, play and make friends with any creature it encounters. Having a large yard for them to explore is another way to cater to their high drive and playful nature. Numerous colors and sizes make this a versatile breed. The smallest Labradoodle puppy might grow to 22 pounds while the largest can top out at 90 pounds. French bulldogs are a breed usually associated with breathing problems A faulty gene might explain why some dogs develop poor breathing. Scientists at the University of Edinburgh have discovered a DNA mutation linked to breathing problems in popular dog breeds. Breathing difficulties are most often associated with flat-faced breeds, such as French bulldogs and pugs. But the team found the mutation is also carried by Norwich terriers, which have proportional noses. Researchers at The Roslin Institute, which is part of the university, say the findings shift our understanding of breathing issues which afflict some dogs. They suggest that, while skull shape remains a risk factor, fluid retention in the tissue that lines the airways could also make it more likely that dogs with the mutation will develop breathing problems. French bulldogs are one of the most popular dog breeds in the UK but underneath their prized features can lie a life-threatening health problem. The breed - and others such as English bulldogs and pugs - is commonly affected by a condition called Bracycephalic Obstructive Airway Syndrome BOAS - which leaves dogs gasping for breath. Scientists had thought their short faces were the only explanation for their breathing problems. However, Norwich Terriers, suffer from a similar breathing problem called upper airway syndrome despite having proportional noses. Vets also carried out clinical examinations of the dogs to check their airways for signs of disease. The researchers pinpointed a DNA mutation in a gene called ADAMTS3, which is not linked to skull shape and has previously been found to cause fluid retention and swelling. The mutated version of the gene was also common in French and English bulldogs, which may help to explain why some dogs of these breeds develop breathing problems and complications after surgery to treat them.
